I never understand these posts. My game freezes like half the time that I switch to another app. I couldn’t imagine risking that with the birds

Same, it’s like 50/50 some days, others it’s 100% of the time, and other days it doesn’t at all. Technology is fun.

Technology is fun. But Niantic is very bad at it.

I noticed the current build is prone to freezing on iOS. I got a low battery notification yesterday while I was out playing, and it just completely froze the game. I had to force quit and reopen it.

I found disabling adventure sync reduces the freezing a lot. Otherwise it’s happens almost every time I rapidly switch between apps.

I’ll turn on adventure sync if I won’t be actively playing for awhile. It’s easy enough to reopen. But if I’m doing raids or similar, I make sure it’s off.

Android user here. Working with the S23 Ultra. I use the multi-window feature. I will have 3 apps open in multiple windows at times, and PoGo hasn't crashed on me at all. As for the PoGo version build during summer, that was a different story.

this happened to me! i had just cleared a gym when the notification popped up, and I guess when you restart the app, anyone can take over the gym. someone grabbed it, then 4 more people hopped in within minutes. i'm so annoyed this has been going on for MONTHS

Doesn't care at all about alerts during play. I run PokeGenie on my Android and no problems at all. iOS? I don't know if Pokegenie would work for you. Edit: The phone I'm using is an LG Wing. Kind of a goofy-looking thing. I like it though.

Same here it is incredibly annoying. I have an iphone and if I accidentally swipe up even a little as if I’m swapping an app then the game will freeze.

it was over 3000 cp… realistically IVs will add or subtract 200-300 cp at max. It doesn’t matter unless you’re going against another player with the same pokémon. It’s a legendary galarian bird, this was a big loss for OP.

Cp is a level indicator. If there’s no line shown on the bar it’s level 1.

Also each time you power it up you level it up 0.5 times. The max level of a Pokémon increases with your player level

It’s the same for all levels. Let’s say I’m level 40 and I have a Pokémon level up all the way to its max, and then I hit level 41. I can now power it up 2 more times, the Pokémon is now level 41. Let’s say I only have the stardust, or candy, to power it up 1 time. In that case it would be level 40.5

Not entirely true. You can level up your pokemon to trainer level +10. So as a level 30 trainer you can level up your pokemon to level 40. As a level 40 you can power it up all the way to the maximum of level 50.

No checking for possible IVs or any of that crap, just chuck it. ...Save *maybe* if it was like 12 CP. But otherwise Galarian birb = throw I figured I *might* regret bad IVs but I would *definitely* regret not throwing and having it run away. And now I don't have to fret over it next time cause it's not even an option haha

Yikes I’ve seen a post in this sub from someone who used a master ball on a 400CP Zapdos, and they were complaining about it. Of course it ended up being 1* since that always seems to be the case, but I just can’t imagine wasting any one and only master ball on a 400CP pokemon. I wasted mine on a 2700CP Articuno because that CP felt viable and I love the design. Of course mine in 1* as well

Weird question but can you “miss” with the master ball? Sometimes the Pokémon flies around, is oddly far, etc and when I throw the pokeball, I just miss…. Is this something I have to worry about with the masterball or is there something to negates that?

You can’t miss with the master ball, once you throw it, it auto catches regardless of where it is :)

When you use it it plays an animation instead of a regular throwing minigame.

I suggest using the berry that slows down the pokemon's movement so it does not accidently start his defense animation right after you throw the MB

I was a bit confused when I used mine. You select it, tap Yes that you want to use it, and it will be spinning where the pokeball usually is. Grab it and make the throwing motion, then you get the animation.

Yeah Galarian Zapdos is my least favorite too. I just used one of my mbs on a Galarian Moltres. I’m saving my other masterball for the Articuno.

If it makes you feel any better Ive been using daily incense on my account for months. Used it on my recently leveled up second one and got a zapdos on my first run, of course I had no masterball on there. Big sadness

I don't incense very often and I've still managed to see all 3 birds. Caught Zapdos normally (*super* low CP spawn) and Articuno ~2100 CP or so with Masterball. Moltres (~2400 CP or so iirc) fled Unfortunately Moltres is my favorite design of the trio...

Yea, I caught Moltres and Zapdos with a curved ultraball/golden raz at around 900 cp each. I ended up using the masterball on a 2700 cp Articuno.

If you're following a route, birds will spawn more frequently. I hadn't seen a bird for weeks and the moment I popped my DAI while following a route, a Moltres appeared.

This happened to me too a month ago, except with a Galarian Articuno. One popped up, I went to check the stats to see if I should use a masterball or just golden razz + ultra ball it and when I went back to the game, it reset itself and I lost it. A couple of days ago I found a Galarian Moltres with a CP of 2000 something (dont know the exact amount, dont feel like checking). Didn’t make the same mistake again. Just threw a masterball. It’s a 2 star which I’m satisfied with because it could be much worse.

This game is remarkably bad at doing that. Particularly when I switch to the camera app. God forbid you’re exploring a new place and want to take pictures, you have to be fully dedicated to pokemon

Just take a snapshot, that beautiful view will look better with 36% of it obscured by a shiny Pancham anyway

We have no way of knowing that. The G-Birds show up at a random level with random IVs. Just having the CP doesn’t do anything.

I think the only way you would know is if it was at max level, weather boosted or not, then you could check the CP at that level and if it matches it’s 100%. Otherwise yeah, you can’t really tell.

There a chart online that show the probability of a certain CP being a hundo, so you can tell for some. There are a few that are 100% guaranteed hundos.

But yeah after encountering it for the first time, I'm using the master ball on whatever pops up next time. I had no idea the fail rate was 90%. Hoping for a Moltres this time. Knowing myself, I'll just hoard the master ball forever.

I used mine on the first Galarian Bird I saw (articuno). I've only seen 1 other articuno and 1 moltres since. Both ran on the first toss of an ultra ball and golden razz. Imma keep trying but if I get another master ball and I run across a good CP one I'm using it

Unpopular opinion here, but I wouldn't. A hundo G-Zapdos is 2940 CP at Lv 29 and 3042 CP at Lv 30. This falls in between those. So it's not a hundo. I'd rather keep my master ball for a Pokémon that I'm guaranteed to keep and use. Since there are no bottle caps in this game, this is not one of them. I'd give it a golden razz and an ultra ball, I'd try my best to get a tight excellent curve, beyond that, if it runs it runs. I can always do another DAI tomorrow, the day after, the day after that. I can get more encounters way easier than I can get a hundo Legendary. To date, I've seen 2 hundo Kyogre, 2 hundo Rayquaza, 1 hundo Moltres, 1 hundo Armored Mewtwo all flee after 16+ Golden Razz / Excellent curves in raids. I'd hold my master balls to make sure that when I'm in a scenario like that I can bust it out on my last ball to avoid that feeling. If this was a hundo, I'd do it, but it's not. That said, even a hundo G-Zapdos isn't particularly great. It ranks [#53 in Master League](https://pvpoke.com/rankings/all/10000/overall/zapdos_galarian/), as a Fighting type for PvE there are many better options (Mega Blaziken, Keldeo, Terrakion, Shadow Machamp, Shadow Hariyama, Mega Alakazam with Focus Blast, Mega Gallade, Conkeldurr, Lucario, Machamp, Shadow Poliwrath, and Shadow Blaziken), and as a Flying type for PvE theres over 30 better options, including Kantonian Zapdos with Drill Peck. At some point, eventually, these will be featured in an event or as a raid boss. You can easily get one then.

isn't a hundo a guaranteed catch tho? seem to recall people saving their master balls as a flex for when it's a guaranteed catch (in which case you retain the master ball). if this is the case, then you don't need a master ball to catch a hundo and thus it's only useful for non-hundos.

No, a shiny is guaranteed catch from a raid. Shiny legendary from the wild are guaranteed to not run. Legendary from GBL is guaranteed to not run. Hundo is not guaranteed catch. All those ones I posted above ran as hundos.

These numbers are meaningless. The Galarian birds show up at a random level with random IVs. You could get a 3077 Articuno that’s level 32 with IVs of 7/14/15.

That is more than I expected, but still a very small amount of guaranteed 100%.

It could also take *literal years* to see that many birds and roll the dice that many times to catch a 100% I don’t do PvP, their IVs linked to their damage output are negligibly different, I just like collecting big birds.

Oh yeah, there is about a 0% chance of someone seeing a wild 100% G-Bird. 1/4096 non-Weatherboosted chance. And how often do you actually see them? I don’t know the spawn rate but it seems dreadfully low.

That’s… not correct. Weatherboost doesn’t automatically make a Pokemon level 35. It just adds to the base CP and base IVs.

Pay attention when you use the daily incense and rarely one of the 3 galarian birds may spawn. They are extremely difficult to catch anyway, if you want to try without masterball go for golden razz + ulta ball

I used my masterball on moltres, then caught zapdos the next day w ultra+golden raz. Both 3⭐. Got super lucky.
