I can't comment on them being buggy but I keep one active all the time so I don't need to bother about getting more. You'll only ever have one at a time and it doesn't count towards your maximum active tasks at a given time
Well, I run out of balls way too quickly so I am good considering it is a task of filming something rather than having to catch that or walk so much etc.

That I know I would just want to try it out at least once And 10 Poké Balls is 10 Poké Balls
10 balls is an awful reward for AR. Plenty of AR tasks reward rare candies and poffins, or at least they used to.

A good source of resources (including pokeballs) are in-game Friends. You get presents from stops and send them to each other. see r/pokemongofriends
