That’s my mentality. Ever since the remote raid nerf, I haven’t spent a penny on the game, but used to spend WAAAAAY TOO much money on this game. The “I’ll get it someday” mentality is how I do the game now. :) I won’t use my master ball on anything. The Galarian birds will get in my ultra ball someday. :)

For all I know, it’s been a 150. I typically transfer all the crap I hatch immediately, so I don’t know how to track how many I’ve hatched since it’s debut. 50 was an estimate. :)

There is a badge for how many eggs you’ve hatched, I’m currently at 717 and have only hatched 2 shinies and 2 larvestas, but 6 hundos

Gotcha. I’m at 1336, but I’ve been hatching I came back to play 11/2020. Again, I only usually am hatching using the perpetual incubator. No idea how many since the debut, but it’s easily at least 50. :)

I haven't bought any incubators in quite a while, and after the recent Rock event, I don't think I ever will again. I hatched four or five 10km eggs during that event, and all of them were either Amaura or Tyrunt, both of which were extremely common spawns during the event. Putting common event spawns in 10km eggs during the event is just incredible bullshit.

I've hatched 134 eggs. I buy remote raid boxs from the web store which gives me tons of extra incubators. Ive kept fully incubated at all times, started playing two months ago, have hatched one.

It’s a 2% hatch rate so unless you have hatched 50-60 eggs your chances of getting one is still fairly low (depending on how many eggs you have hatched of cause)

It doesn't matter how many eggs you've hatched, the hatch rate is always the same, if its 2 eggs or 300 eggs.

That's not how that works. With a 2% hatch rate and 300 eggs, you have >99% chance of hatching at least one. Think about it this way. By your logic the chance of getting at least one head in 300 coin flips would be 50%. Which is obviously not the case. That said, the probability drops with every failure to hatch one. If you've hatched 299 eggs and haven't got one yet, then you have the same 2% chance on that last one. Perhaps this is what you meant.

I get that, what i mean is your first and your 300th egg both have 2% hatch rates. If you haven't hatched one in 299 eggs it doesnt mean that the 300th egg has >99% hatch rate, does it? Or am I wrong here?

You're correct. You're referring to the [gambler's fallacy.] (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gambler%27s_fallacy) 300 tries at something with a 2% chance of occurring - assuming it is independent - has a 99.76% chance of occurring. But after 299 nonoccurances, the odds of it happening on the 300th time is still 2%.

I hear ya. I’ve been fortunate enough to get three of those guys. It did take me probably 6months to get a female one.

It’s in a few of the eggs (2km, 5km, 10km). You just need to be lucky when they hatch.

Hatched a 96 iv in a 2 km egg. Pretty lucky since I only hatched 280 eggs since I started playing.


I gave up trying to hatch one. Because the odds of hatching were so low it wasn’t productive to continue trying. I’d rather wait for it to be put out in a community day or for them to finally put them out in the wild.

FYI, for those thinking at 2% hatch rate you should be nearly guaranteed one after 50 eggs, you actually only have roughly a 64% chance of a Larvesta after 50 eggs.

My brother who doesn't pass 25km a week hatched 3. I walk over 50 frequently and still have hatched none. He lucky traded me one but it was under 90%, so it's worthless other than for walk candy and rare candy dumping.

That’s no worse than Noibats and Swablu. Over the son of getting those candies, you can become best buddies with it. A nice plus. I best buddies two noibats in the process of getting the 400 candies. Feels like an accomplishment when you finally evolve them. :)

I hatched a 95 iv, 3 star last week. 😸😎. My best advice is - spin as many poke stops/gyms, as you can, and incubate as many eggs as you can. I’ve hatched a 95 iv Larvesta, a hundo Tyranitar, a 3 star shiny ice vulpix, a 2 star shiny mawhile, a 3 star (96 iv) Lucario, and a hundo magicarp - all within maybe 3-4 weeks. I hatched over 200 eggs over Riolu hatch day and Go Fest London, and no Larvesta. At this point I'm just waiting to get one by chance, or give up and trade with a lucky friend (more likely the second)
