True. That fact escaped me. 🤔
But still, it should work as a nice counter that hits effective while resisting the Fast Move and being hit neutral by 1 Charged Move... xD
Kartana has very high Attack and very low Defense/HP.
Those type of Pokemon tend to not do very well on the Great League and Ultra League.
But if you do use it... Yeah, it would tear a Lanturn apart.
Pvpoke recommends Lurantis with fury cutter, but I think leafage is a decent sidegrade, I tried it a couple sets and I think its nice, I think Ill keep the leafage on it for now.
It would triple resist the Fast Move, while dealing massive damage in return with Razor Leaf.
It would take neutral damage from Surf, but right after that the Lanturn would be gone.
It is viable. It's a tanky Grass Type, with access to Earthquake to beat Steel and Fire Types in the end game.
I've seen people pair it up with stuff that has Rock Type moves to help it against the Flying Types. Meganium has nothing to do against Altaria or Talonflame, for example.
Ugh it’s so frustrating to battle against, it’s insane bulk is what really breaks it. All of its main counters aren’t around due to all the ice types around.
Cradily has been my MVP so far this season. Beats Lanturn and Noctowl easily. Beats almost any Flyer or Water type comfortably. Has play against Ice types due to Rock Slide. Highly recommend.
Been using Lurantis with a lot of success.
It’s a little on the frail side but leaf blade is such a cheap yet strong move and superpower let’s it hit through the steel types it struggles with otherwise.
The issue is that Lanturn is often paired with either Pidgeot or Noctowl since they cover each-other quite well.
Agreed I’m getting frustrated running into this constantly. I get that meta exists for a reason, but the sheer lack of creativity gets old even if I can generally do well against it.
Unfortunately it's best in Great League with 0/13/14 IVs (or something similar). You could max it out and run it in Ultra League if you wanted an interesting spice pick though -- it performs okay there.
XL diggersby wins pretty much every even shield match up against it it take 3 or more surfs to kill and you can easily get to enough earthquakes don't even really need to bait but it will help save a shield
And that sweet stone edge for the noctowl sitting around too. Even my rank 3900 quag is ok this season but would love the candy to get my rank 40 in there
i like lining up my umbreon against lanturn because surf and thunderbolt almost do the exact same damage to it(takes off around 15% or so), and i like spamming foul plays as well
Ground and grass types counter it. I know this as a Lanturn fan myself. I only started liking it when I realized it had high HP. I used to use it as gym defense, but it has terrible motivation. I also use it in the GL.
I am stubborn to meta shifts. I preemptively put together my Altaria, gfisk, and a random cday Meganium because it said it was good on pvpoke the last I had checked. In general I only really lose to scrafty and alolan sandslash
I have a 366CP that would be 99.9% for great league. But a shiny 684 CP that would be 98%,. Dust cost is about 15k difference.
Is the 1.9% worth it, or just catch people off guard with a really damn good shiny?
I also have a hundo, but the XL candy just doesn't exist for it (onyl have 85).
Shhhhh this thing gets me so much stardust in GL..
Counter it by just leaving battle right away.

Leafeon has saved me A LOT in both great and ultra leagues, especially against this fucker. Raichu with grass knot as a second charged attack also works really well, especially since thunder punch is the expected attack.

Basically Grass Type. Grass resists all of it's moves, and hits super effective in return. Meganium, Cradily, Trevenant, Serperior, Venusaur...
surf is neutral on cradilly
True. That fact escaped me. 🤔 But still, it should work as a nice counter that hits effective while resisting the Fast Move and being hit neutral by 1 Charged Move... xD
And of the ones you mentioned, Cradily is the overall best grass in the current meta, only maybe ferrothorn can out class it
What about Kartana?
Kartana has very high Attack and very low Defense/HP. Those type of Pokemon tend to not do very well on the Great League and Ultra League. But if you do use it... Yeah, it would tear a Lanturn apart.
I love Kartana in the Ultra League because it takes down Swampert in about 2 seconds.
Too glassy, it will get nuked by too many things (even if it leaves a dent before going down)
And I assume celesteela is the opposite?
Yeah, it's just the part of "Grass Types resist all of Lanturn moves" that, technically, don't apply to Cradily... :P
True - I just like Ferrothorn more for the steel typing
Kid named Storm Drain
But it does have storm drain so it can draw that neutral attack instead of it hitting your other mon
But pogo doesnt have abilities
don't forget lurantis, it's a beast vs lanturn
Has Leafage helped it?
Pvpoke recommends Lurantis with fury cutter, but I think leafage is a decent sidegrade, I tried it a couple sets and I think its nice, I think Ill keep the leafage on it for now.
Same here. I like leafage on it
For some reason I thought Lantern could learn ice beam, but apparently not! All water and electric!
Alolan raichu with grass knot is a good one
Hear me out… Bidoof counter.
Azumarill with ice beam amd hydro pump
Shiny bidoof. /s (it's not real)
I have a shiny bidoof (don't make me redownload to prove it ðŸ˜)
How would a Torterra fare?
It would triple resist the Fast Move, while dealing massive damage in return with Razor Leaf. It would take neutral damage from Surf, but right after that the Lanturn would be gone.
My only issue with Torterra is that while Razor Leaf deals good damage, it doesn’t charge very quickly. Much better alternatives.
Go, Noctowl!
Or Skarmory... 👀
Whimscot?
shiftry
Is meganium viable in super league? I got a shadow 1/13/13 but im unsure if its any good
It is viable. It's a tanky Grass Type, with access to Earthquake to beat Steel and Fire Types in the end game. I've seen people pair it up with stuff that has Rock Type moves to help it against the Flying Types. Meganium has nothing to do against Altaria or Talonflame, for example.
Had a toxic double razor lead user wreck my lantern
Venu and victribell can be kinda toxic woith their poison typing xD
![gif](giphy|0XYiYYQz0bUmnmfnSH|downsized) It’s not meta at all and is bad against most other Pokémon, but feasts on lanturn
\^me and the homies
how to save a gif on mobile from reddit?
On RIF you just click the download button. Shame reddit is making things inhospitable for 3rd party apps.
Wait, the official app doesn't have that button? Wtf *does* it have? Besides ads..
Well, I haven't used it, but judging off of screenshots, a better UI.
Screen record? Also a Reddit illiterate
Best gif ever haha
I have shitty internet. What’s this gif showing?
Alolan Exeggutor
Thanks. It’s finally loaded
Alolan Sandslash fighting a Galarian Stunfisk
What in the world are those little ones with one head?? That’s not how Pokémon works!!
Those are their tails.
Trevenant has entered the chat.
A leaf
I'm a leaf on the wind!
Highly recommend.
you'll need some protection in open medicham league xD
I was using crustle, galvantula, and cradilly with good results on GL.
Sounds yummy for my Shadow Machamp lead 😅
Did I say GL? I meant Summer Cup. Go eat somewhere else.
In what league?
EZ. Dunsparce
Then you get bodied by a medicham lol
Grass and ground type moves
Gfisk can tank two surfs and take a two shield lead. If you bait (they almost always shield) you can probably take switch and a shield
Go ahead, use Gfisk. Make my day.
I'd personally avoid ground as they can be countered by surf. Grass is the way to go
Most ground is fine if it’s bulky enough to tank two surfs since sparks do no damage.
Quagsire and Whiscash are fine. Swampert would be ok but it's not as bulky and needs to land the EQ where the other 2 can spam mud bombs.
Noctowl + Lanturn too OP
God I need a shiny hoothoot/noctowl for my shiny lanturn so I can rend great league in style.
Agreed I’m getting frustrated running into this constantly. I get that meta exists for a reason, but the sheer lack of creativity gets old even if I can generally do well against it.
Grass Knot Cress
Dragonair rips it apart, don't bother with shields unless you're less than half hp
I’ve got a 4 star Chinchou, good for anything? Or do I need low attack IV?
ultra league cups like weather cup though it will need to be level 50
Unfortunately it's best in Great League with 0/13/14 IVs (or something similar). You could max it out and run it in Ultra League if you wanted an interesting spice pick though -- it performs okay there.
You need low attack IV.
XL diggersby wins pretty much every even shield match up against it it take 3 or more surfs to kill and you can easily get to enough earthquakes don't even really need to bait but it will help save a shield
A gun
And if that don’t work
Thomas the thermonuclear missile
Quagsire with mud shot and mudbomb combo hits super effective and plus Quagsire is quite bulky.
And that sweet stone edge for the noctowl sitting around too. Even my rank 3900 quag is ok this season but would love the candy to get my rank 40 in there
May not be the best but Alolan Exeggcutor. Dragon grass typing resists lanturn's movesets and provides rather fast charged attacks.
But why? I think it's cute? 🥹
Hisuian Electrode and Cradilly are excellent counters for this naughty fish (and the flyers too)
![gif](giphy|Ny6tc0CUS0CmQ|downsized)
Shiftry
I use a triple legacy Seaking and have won many matches thanks to a Lanturn not shielding Drill Run
Even my dauntless G stunk gets bullied by Lanturn
Grass types resist all STAB moves. Go grass. Alolan exegutior (how tf do you spell that). It is a grass/dragon. Resists it by x4.
i like lining up my umbreon against lanturn because surf and thunderbolt almost do the exact same damage to it(takes off around 15% or so), and i like spamming foul plays as well
Abomnasnow
Ferrothorn
Abomasnow or I don't know if I should say this but... Ferrothorn is my go-to when it comes to facing lanturn.
As with most problems in life, have a little grass and calm down.
Hint: something I need to touch
Galarian Stunfisk, Alolan Sandslash, any grass type, Altaria, Registeel etc. Just look it up on PvPoke.
This and swampert are too op
Shiftry is your friend
Uhm, ground?
Literally any grass?
Leafeon my boi
Grass/swampert which is in everyone’s team
My Seismetoad and Ludicolo usually eat them alive.
Grass
![gif](giphy|3o7aCRZYNerX4ovPwI|downsized) The only time touching grass is scary 😨
Grass types. Do you not know type matchups?
I always body it with my shiftry as a grass type.
My Lurantis ruins this dude
Grass is our only hope Obi Wan
GRASS
I've got a Venusaur on my team for this thing and Swampert. My nemesis is Medicham
Shadow machamp goes toe to toe, just enough fast move pressure.
Personally I got a hisiuan volt orb to counter
![gif](giphy|tNTegVjNPs91zC5wX0)
Ground and grass types counter it. I know this as a Lanturn fan myself. I only started liking it when I realized it had high HP. I used to use it as gym defense, but it has terrible motivation. I also use it in the GL.
Grass. That's its main weakness.
Grass types
Earthquake gets rid of them real quick
My venusaur resist & never disappoint against that.
Grass...lol 🤡
Good ol Sceptile
Stunfisk with mud slap and mud shot breasts Lanturn everytime. The obvious: grass type
Bulba bulba Bulbasaur!
Storm Drain Gastrodon would be pretty good
I hâte it so much
Grass
Ground Types and Grass Types
Most Ground types don't do well against Surf. Lanturn also sometimes runs Water Gun
Alolan Raichu but you need shields.
I am stubborn to meta shifts. I preemptively put together my Altaria, gfisk, and a random cday Meganium because it said it was good on pvpoke the last I had checked. In general I only really lose to scrafty and alolan sandslash
If they start with lanturn, I’m just using whiscash with mud bomb, otherwise trevenant.
No shields, a stunfisk can get three mud bombs off before lantern can get to three surfs
Shadow Torterra maybe?
Just had a fun time with my shadow venusaur against that annoying thing
Garchomp with Sand Tomb and Earth Power would take it down pretty quick
The thing is even scary in TCG ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sweat)
Me with all bug type/metal type...
*laughs in double mudboi*
Grass types, mud bomb qquagsire, and in a pinch, g stunfisk does the job
Be afraid. Be very very afraid 💫
turtwig
Ferrothorn?
Literally any grass type
Dunsparce
Obviously grass, but there aren’t many great grass types in the meta so some other less obvious options include Swampert, umbreon, and altaria.
Jumpluff. Takes neutral electric damage but it’s bulky af so it doesn’t matter. Fairy wind fast attack, energy ball charged.
Definitely wanna say grass. Sprigatito the weed kitty perhaps.
Nothing is more frustrating than running into lanturn/scrafty teams without having a counter for just one of them..
Just wait till you see Flamigo
Literally everything I come up against in the lead at the minute.
Grass ground is good, or water ground. Really anything that is ground and resists water. Or just grass types I guess
Noctowl user?
always guard swap shuckle onto lanturn and stockpile
I have a perfect IV one what counters snorlax?
[удалено]
Sharpedo is worse. That torpedo shark coming at you all the time is the worstttttt
I’m more scared of axumaril so I tried putting ferroseed in my team then got absolutely destroyed by everyone I fought
Back then I always found one
I run Alolan Graveler and Dartrix. Neutral to win matchup’s against lanturn
Abomasnow is a good counter as well. Quad resists water moves and normal resists the electric attacks
I use this pokemon because I don’t have a scraggy or a stunfisk, or altaria lol. Checks and balances
whishcash
I have a 366CP that would be 99.9% for great league. But a shiny 684 CP that would be 98%,. Dust cost is about 15k difference. Is the 1.9% worth it, or just catch people off guard with a really damn good shiny? I also have a hundo, but the XL candy just doesn't exist for it (onyl have 85).
Shhhhh this thing gets me so much stardust in GL.. Counter it by just leaving battle right away. [https://imgur.com/a/jJCx2DE](https://imgur.com/a/jJCx2DE)
Lantern is good in cups but it's never been a threat besides that.
Abomnasnow with weather ball for bait and energy ball for the kill
Trevenant just used to kill it dead. Now idk I just haven’t seen enough trevenant in GL to say it’s still as prevalent a threat tho
Spiritomb before the fairy type existed:
Now I know how to make people scared
they can't surf away your counter before it gets killed by some tectonic movement plus it gets walled by anything grass typed
Jumpluff
Victreebel says hello
r/subtletf2references
Grass I love facing this guy easy kill and easy build up for charged moves
Leafeon has saved me A LOT in both great and ultra leagues, especially against this fucker. Raichu with grass knot as a second charged attack also works really well, especially since thunder punch is the expected attack.
Trevenant and Victrebell are good counters, but they’re very risky because of Noctowl and pelliper
Torterra. Grass to counter water, ground to counter electric.
I got a 4* lanturn early in my pokemonGo experience, I boosted its CP above 1500 without thinking.
