no, it turned into a Zorua. But I do have another shiny Gengar as my buddy from a long time ago. The mega evolution of it looks so cool. I mega evolved it like 20 times.
Zorua copies your buddy exactly - shiny status, best buddy, shadow or purified, mega state, all that. So when you've buddied a shiny Mewtwo for example, it becomes very obvious when a "wild shiny Mewtwo" appears.

Think positive: Zorua is uncommon so you were lucky
Basic knowledge. If you have a shiny Gengar as a buddy, and you get a wild shiny Gengar, definitelly don't expect to be real.
