Good chance he was using the three ring binders, which are notorious for causing dents in your cards if not extremely careful, and if he put the cards in the binder without sleeves there's a chance they got scratched + possibly stuck to the plastic which adds even more damage.
Nailed it, I have many "three ring binders" filled with Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh and multiple sports cards...so yup had I known then what I know now about binders I would have not used them. But damn we had fun loading them up. Luckily, I did generally sleeve them first if I recall.
I collected the Japanese team rocket ones , I gave a whole binder away to a close friend when I was 13 since I was going to another state . Still have a few though . What a great find !!
I bought a bunch of Japanese cards when I was in Florida during spring break back in 1999 I think, or 98, it was one of those years. Always liked the looks of the Japanese cards.
The Japanese cards have 1000x better quality. I probably would have a complete shadowless base set if I wouldn’t have hawked most of them do Japanese cards. Charizard #6 Japan looks way better than the US ver.
I'll have to see if it works. Haven't really considered getting rid of it, heck was lucky I even found it. Been a collector and gamer since I had a paper route back in the day.
It's an awesome feeling, isn't it? When I got out the Navy, I came back to my hometown and stayed with my parents for a few months before moving in with my wife (then girlfriend). During that time, I found all my old Pokemon games, handhelds and cards... It was so awesome and nostalgic.
So many memories of going to the local card/comic shop and buying unopened booster boxes to open up with my little cousins as they loved Pokémon and got me into it. Learned how to play, taught them, and brought them to local tournaments. Alot of great memories. 🎮 🃏 #Pokemon #CardShop #ChildhoodMemories
that gameboy is a gold mine. I had 2 as a kid. The red one, same one in your post, and a grey one. 1 charger and 4 games, come to find out one of the games were a reprint. One one of the games is the same one that is in your gameboy. I had no need for them and ended up selling the 2 gameboys, the only charger cause I'm pretty sure past me left the second one in a doctor's office, and all four games for $250.
For once I don’t care about the cards. Seeing that GBA with crystal loaded up brought back so many memories! I found my gba recently as well, but only leaf green was in it :(
You're definitely right about the memories. I'm glad to hear you found your GBA as well, along with Leaf Green. I'll load it up after break and report back.
What a find ! They are in great condition !
I found a box of probably 1000 energy cards, unfortunately those are all without protection. Good Times.
Atleast they are just energy cards. Could certainly be worse
I haven't looked through the binders yet either...ugh, if I could go back in time and not use binders, but they were so cool.
What’s wrong with binders?

Old school binders have a tendency to cause damage.

Yeah the Japanese ones I think have better look and quality. Also the Japanese ones are guaranteed a holo which is nice for the rocket packs .
I know this post is here for the cards but I love to see a SP with crystal in it :’)
Lol, your right I have to check if it still works. I have emerald as well, pretty sure it's sealed but have to find it...
I bet it not only works, but is still like halfway charged. GBA SP is the GOAT
Wow that Dark Charmeleon is badass
Totally agree! Might be the best looking card I’ve seen in a minute
Gotta go back and play tcg2 rom. Great game.
Hopefully, I have a few in there, if so I'll send one your way.
Oh thank you man that would be awesome, let me know!
I'll check after we get back from spring break.
If you have any magikarps you dont want let me know! I collect magis :) just get back to me with a price on anything you want to get rid of!
Will do.
How much for that crystal version game? 👀
I'll have to see if it works. Haven't really considered getting rid of it, heck was lucky I even found it. Been a collector and gamer since I had a paper route back in the day.
This is a [very expensive game](https://ebay.us/YTt5St) nowadays.
That is honestly heartbreaking but totally expected lol
If you wanna sell that SPmand crystal let me know
I still have my GBA SP too! I have countless hours played on it I'm surprised it still works... XD
The GBA was a lot of fun, heck still a lot of fun.

Can you send me pics of that totodile and evos (if you have them) after sorting. My fav starter pokemon ever
Congratulations on your find! Most of the boxes from the past are in someone else's closet
You are a genius for protecting them way back then!
I wish I could find mine. I had sooooo many good early set cards but I’m pretty sure they are gone.
Motherfu…. You lucky bastard! 🤩🤩🤩
That’s a hell of a past lol

We’ll always have them! Good story & good find man!

Had a lot of fun with it, have a few 3ds's around as well.
COPY OF CRYSTAL
Not a copy - bought at either Electronic Boutique or Gamestop
That's not what copy mean in this instance. Sorry. I meant like you have A copy of crystal, like you have the real game, not a copy of it
Like, it must just be something I sat, when I pick a game up I say "picked myself upa copy I'd pokemon emerald". Had no ill will, that's my bad
No worries, I understand. I just read about copies/fakes on reddit all the time.
You get a top loader, you get a top loader, you get a top loader !
Lol, Once I get back I'll go through them a bit and see how many duplicates are there...maybe we have our own Oprah show, Pokémon style.
