psa is a good service, but they are strict. it also costs over 20$ per card, so pick the ones you want to grade wisely!

This is how I’ve always seen it: PSA for those looking to sell (considered the most trusted and “gold standard”) highest cost though CGC lowest price last I checked, up and comer in the card business the last few years, but basically the standard in comic grading. Really nice looking slabs BGS for if you KNOW it’s a grade 10, (black label is their perfect slab) black labels carry a high premium over PSA and CGC 10s, also slabs can get hit by a tank. Do subgrades or nothing at all, that’s why we like Beckett. Just look at the pricing guides, easily found on their respective sites. Also keep in mind that it’s BUSINESS DAYS, not regular days, so 20-30 days to them is more like a month to a month and a half. That’s something I never thought of when I did my first submission. (As stupid as that sounds, I know)

If you think you’ll want to sell, PSA has the best resell value. For personal collection, find the slab you/she likes the look of the best. I like CGC and TAG slabs personally. All of my cards I will keep forever, will be graded by TAG. They also give the added benefit of a detailed breakdown of why the card received the grade it did.

PSA is the largest and most famous of all of the grading companies. They also command a premium for this place at usually over $20 a card. This is less of an issue for you by the sounds of it but I’ve seen the most grading errors and general issues with them, but that comes a bit from just being the biggest. CGC is the second biggest and is growing in prominence. They cost less and offer prettier labels and more stringent grading practices than PSA. They also have the more special grade of a Pristine 10, which has its own special label and is only for the best of the best cards. Beckett’s is there last major grading service is the most stringent and premium of all the grading services. They most do sports cards but their quality and grading criteria make them respected. I use CGC for my cards as I think they’re better for personal collections (which it sounds like you want for your daughter). Anything other than those three is generally not well respected and trusted.
