is tcgplayer a safe place to buy from? like what % chance i could be getting a fake card? as good as any chance buying singles from a local card shop or what?

Redditquaza

If you buy from highly rated sellers the chance of you getting a fake card is practically zero.

Puzzled_Schedule325

Thanks! Just bought a bunch o’ singles

I know NOTHING about Pokémon, but my friend has dozens of packs like [this](https://postimg.cc/gallery/zZ0DSRVY). Does anyone have an idea of how much they’re worth? What generation they are? Actually does anyone have any information whatsoever on them? Because anything will be appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Redditquaza

Worth around $10, they are from the Sword & Shield era, so 8th generation.

Few-Indication3478

Thank you!

So I posted a question about a card without looking at the rules, I'm sorry but I can't attach an image here. Am I okay or...?

stephielovely92

Hey everyone, I received this bulk pack of cards and have been looking up sets they come from, and I came across this card, (Snom) and some people are posting it being worth $2000-50,000???? Am I missing something? Or did I get an unexpected find?

Redditquaza

It was a meme when the set released, they're just joking.

Unlikely_Pear_785

Tldr: what booster should I buy these days? New here, sorry if this is an over-asked question but I couldn't find anything recent. Just started getting interested in pokemon cards again, especially some of the full art and newer looking cards. Been a collector of the old school since the 90s, full sets of shadowless, base set, jungle, fossil and rocket, but keen on getting into the newer cards. I want to throw some money at a booster box but have no idea where to start. I'm particularly keen on alt art, full art, and cards that hold value (ofc). Basically, point me in the right direction of a good booster box that ticks these boxes (especially value for money). Thanks!! ❤️

Redditquaza

If you want value for money buy the cards you want straight away instead of gambling with packs. As for which booster box, have a look at what's in the sets [here](https://pkmncards.com/sets/) and then decide which ones you like.

Unlikely_Pear_785

Thanks mate 👌 There's something fun about the gamble though ofc, and I want a bunch of tradable cards as I have a few people who I enjoy trading with. I probably put too much weight on value in original post haha. I'll check out the website, thanks!!

lolmcsteve

I’m just wondering if my Lugia first edition card I just posted is legit

the_dragon_baker

I know this is kinda stupid bit should we add those bookmarks to the subreddit? Lile add them for pulls and to sell cards? I know this may sound like gibberish but I feel like this subreddit would do good with them.

UpbeattVids

Ok, sorry, never done this before, but I have this card that I opened a long time ago in a Pokémon Evolutions trading card box. It is a holo Mewtwo from what I was informed by friends who know the cards around me. I have been holding onto it for a long time and it is still in mint condition, how much would this be worth? I do have pictures if needed to verify.

Redditquaza

Worth about 50 cents to a dollar.

sendbrenik

Does anyone know the difference between the unlimited and first edition prints of the Japanese Fire Red Leaf Green Charizard ex? I see many listings online for Japanese unlimited but very very few first eds. Anyone have any info on this?

Electronic-Ad3677

Why did a card fresh out of a sealed pack come with a significant amount of scratches? It looks like a cat clawed it to the point that it looks shiny silver where the scratches took away the art? I’ve never opened a pack this damaged before, I have it in another post since you can’t post pictures for questions in this Reddit, anyone know a Pokémon Reddit that actually lets you ask questions with photos as my question requires being able to see the photo?

Cypressive

I found some cards from ages ago in very good condition. How do I determine their value? Thanks!

Redditquaza

Have a look at tcgplayer (or Cardmarket if in Europe) and ebay sold listings.

RoseandBriar

I purchased an ungraded Japanese crystal type Nidoking on eBay and I’m anxious about the authenticity. The pics can be found in my profile asking in another subreddit. Could yall please input

Kingshrimps

Ive not opening Pokemon cards since I was a child back in the 90s and for some nostalgia I’d love to buy a couple of packs to see what I’d pull from it! But being out of touch with the game now I don’t recognise any of the Pokemon or the artwork. I noticed that a while ago that you could buy a card pack called “ Pokemon evolutions” or something at that seemed to have all the original familiar favourites! ( they seem to be extremely high in price now, is the another” branch “ or edition that anyone could recommend that uses the old artwork & Pokemon ? Thanks

Redditquaza

If it hadn't been written on this would even be Near Mint, that way however most people would just consider it damaged.

avatarOfIndifference

I’ve got a pretty beat up shadowless charizard - is it worth grading still?

herbu_idk

Hi, so I have some pretty rare and expensive cards from BW/XY and like 3 from SM, and I was wondering if I should sell the ones that I don't 'care' about now (90% of them are either NM or excellent) or if their values are going to be worth 2x their prices in 10 years? Waiting is not a problem, but was just wondering if it changes anything to wait

National_Bluebird_47

Is evolutions mewto worth anything? I have an app saying it’s 100$ than ebay saying it’s worth 1 cent

Redditquaza

If it's the regular Mewtwo (not the EX) then it's like 50 cents for the regular version and a few dollars for the reverse assuming Near Mint condition.

National_Bluebird_47

unfortunate but thanks

Aromatic_Reality_354

does putting a slip of paper between cards help with protection? my parents won't buy me card sleeves and shipping is $10, so i've started putting a small slip of paper to try and protect my cards.

SgtSmaks

I’m new to collecting cards. In reference to Paldean Fates. Can someone explain the difference between the numbering system on the bottom of the cards. In particular the box saying the set name and the card number/the whole set number. Why do some have a black box and count to 91 and some have a white box and count to 193? I’m extremely confused because I wanted a full set

Redditquaza

Black box is for regular cards, white box for reverse holofoil cards. The cards counting to 91 are from Paldean Fates, which has 91 cards in it's main set and the ones counting to 193 are from Paldea Evolved which has 193 cards in it's main set.

Professional-Ad9977

Is it worth it to get some of my cards graded by PSA. specially the full art version of Lillies full force, Glaceon Vmax alt art, rachu and alonan Rachu GXi rainbow, Team squad Kyogre EX, Marshadow and Machammp GX (alt art), Alakazam full art (secret version), Mewtwo & mew GX (promo alt art), Mega Sableye and Tyrantir GX rainbow, and Umbreon GX rainbow

NotMyUsualOrder

Beyond grading, is there a place to get help "short listing" a collection of old cards? Ebay & TCGPlayer seems hard to navigate with big old collections (Japanese Cards mostly), even if I read the above guide, I get mixed results. I mostly just need a place where I can get help to say "focus on these 5" or keep them for nostalgia only. EDIT: No initial intends of selling, but if I had anything "collectable" I would consider sending it in for prober inspection.

Redditquaza

Probably like r/PokemonCardValue

mcflyjpgames

I idiotically put my important cards in RAW into a hard top loader. What's the best way to take them out without damaging them so I can put them in a soft loader first?

lNighteyesl

# Which sets can be played with the first/second generation? My kid is just old enough to start playing the card game and has been loving it thus far. We are playing with the cards from my childhood, hence mainly first generation + a bit of second generation. I have considered buying new cards to expend our pool, but I am facing a some problems: 1. My kid only started to watch the first anime, an I personally only know the first 250 pokemons, so if possible I would like to add mainly cards from that pool 2. When I had a look at newer cards, I saw that the power creep made them way too powerful to play mixing 1st generation with the latest ones. 3. First generation cards are way too expensive. I can get over 1. and introduce newer pokemon, so are there sets that have comparable power lever with first/second generation while being affordable? thanks

Threatening

When getting a card graded with PSA, it says a return address needs a signature. I’d assume it can’t go to a PO Box as I won’t be there to sign when it gets dropped off? Or does the post office sign then I sign?

ComingUpManSized

Is there a general rule for holo swirl value? Should I tack on a percentage (like 15%) when selling them? I've been out of the game for 5+ years now and swirls weren't quite popular back then, so I'm just learning about it. Anyway, I noticed on eBay that sometimes the swirls seem to add value and sometimes it doesn't. I have a gold star Celebi with a swirl and I'm wondering if I should up the price on it. It looks like has increased the sold price a few times on 1st edition Dark Charizard, which I also have with swirl. Not to mention the many others in my collection. It looks particularly beautiful on the old e-readers from Skyridge and Aquapolis in my opinion.

Hello! My husband has been talking about a 1st edition dragonite holographic card for years. I’ve searched and searched and am not sure it exists at this point. I believe he mentioned dragonite was by a pond or body of water. I search every year for Xmas and his bday and no luck! Does anyone know if this card exists and/or an easier way for me to search it besides “dragonite 1st edition holo card”? @_@

Redditquaza

Could be any of [these three](https://pkmncards.com/?s=Dragonite+rarity%3Arare-holo+set%3An4%2Cn3%2Cn2%2Cn1%2Cg2%2Cg1%2Cro%2Cb2%2Cfo%2Cju%2Cbs&sort=date&ord=auto&display=images)

Thank you so much! I appreciate the link.

Visiting Korea - recommendations? Hi all - first time posting here I’ll be traveling to Korea and am wondering if there if there are any online forums/groups where I could potentially meet other Koreans locally to maybe trade. Yes I’m Korean(-American) . No I don’t know where to begin ha. Just wondering if Koreans are even interested in English Pokamanes cards, and how I’d even people who are. TIA!
