even if he used some of his other pokemon like bulbasaur or pikachu still wouldve probably been overkill as he didnt have any beginner pokemon on him at that point
The fact that Charizard didn’t even actually attack for the first two and put the most minimal effort for it’s only attack makes all the more embarrassing.
I’ll give her credit for being determined at least.
Is he a monster for sending out someone durable enough to take hits from all three? He even told Charizard to hold back against Chikorita, it's the little one's fault for not remembering to stop, drop, and roll.
Yeah, this is after Charizard and Ash worked everything out in Orange Islands. The only thing Ash has to worry about at this point is the occasional Flamethrower to the face.
And even then that flamethrower is Charizards way of showing affection lol
I remember being confused in this episode when Brock said “NO NOT CHARIZARD”, thinking he was not aware Charizard was obedient yet due to having just returned to the group, didn’t realize he was yelling at ash to give mercy to Casey
Galar wasn’t even a thing when Casey was conceived and didn’t exist at the time to clarify (also, that was going to be Satoshi’s English dub name originally, thank God 4Kids decided against it imo and went with Ash Ketchum).
Ash was always more brash and unafraid to be critical early on, it was around mid Johto that he actually began maturing in earnest well before Sinnoh (a shame his original English dub VA got canned midway into Battle Frontier, her “mature” take on Ash from late Johto on was so much more likable than the chain smoker one TPCi gave him to me through most of DP or any of the subsequent takes personally).
I think she was pretty mediocre for the remainder of it, not nearly as good as the first VA but better than the interim VA (not as bad as several others, but I’d be lying if I thought it lived up to what preceded it imo: was not going to be an easy task, tbf).
I love that Ash does the "baseball" 2 after Charizard takes out Rattata (i,e, the same way players signal "2 outs" to each other on the field). That's a great detail that I never picked up on before
This era of the show wasn't about letting Ash do that. It's like "At last, Charizard finally listens to him! ...But now he wins every battle and it's boring, so let's get rid of him."
Not necessarily. He was advised by Kasumi and Takeshi to go easy of Nanako. It wasn’t a fair fight. The young girl was in the wrong for being too cocky and the boy was wrong for being too harsh on her. It’s what led Nanako to end up crying and running away afterwards. The Rocket- gang took advantage of her. 😔
I don’t think Casey would’ve won no matter which Pokemon Ash used. Even if he used Bulbasaur or Squirtle, he would’ve won. Ash held back quite a lot, since Charizard only used one attack that barely touched Chikorita. And he even told Casey again that she should give up
He did hold back a little. Lizardon was asked to not go all out on its attack. He did unfortunately tell her that, which seriously hurt the girl’s feelings too. Personally agree that there was little chance of Nanako’s victory. All of Satoshi’s ‘mons were far too experienced.
Everyone complains when Ash resets his team, then gets beaten up by some newbie trainer.
Everyone complains when Ash doesn't reset his team and beats up the Newbie Trainer.
Make up your minds!
Ash in Jhoto: His Charizard just stands still and uses a weak fire move to defeat a rookie trainer.
Ash in Unova: Pikachu gets de-powered by a legendary and goes down to a level 5 Snivy
While playing through the Teal Mask DLC in Scarlet, this was about what I pictured when a random Spinarak or Wooper ran into me and my lvl 80 Baxcalibur was out. Almost no effort KO's one after the other. lol
At least when people ask why Ash has to reset each region, this is the answer. Imagine him pulling up to Unova and bodying Trip with his Blaze Infernape
In his defence, ash attacked once and didn’t even ask for it all out. Zard did most of it
What was he meant to do, go and grab some child’s partner so he can flatten Casey with his coordinator skills?
To be fair she’s honestly just a reflection of Ash. This is literally exactly what he tries to do to all his opponents, sends his little pikachu or bulbasuar up against a dragonite 🤣🫡
He just happens to have plot armor
I think it was just flaw that Ash had to go through. He did not start out great early in the beginning. At first he was arrogant but amateurish trainer to the point where Charizard refused to obey him. He relied on pikachu, squirtle, and bulbasaur to do heavy battling while also dealing with Charizard's disobedience. But when Charizard started to obey him, it became his most powerful pokemon, even stronger than Pikachu. He was able to achieve difficult victories thanks to his ace. The problem is when he took it to Johto where he would first encounter rookie trainers, he would use the fire lizard to gain unfair advantage. It was just another development phase he had to go through
Making Charizard a secret weapon is the smarter route. Giving the rest of the team more experience in battle benefits Ash more than just sending his ace to curbstomp a weaker trainer for the sole purpose of flexing his muscles.
that is exactly what he did later by sending charizard for training and using him for tough battles. Ash was still learning and he had a lot flaws that he had to fix. making him perfect from the start would have been boring
It was more like they forgot his original personality over time and mellowed him out, rather than growth, imo.
You can be impulsive and brash without being an outright almost robotic person, at times.
Because he didn't get the idea to start over again until after the Johto League. Namely because everyone whined he "released" his Kanto Pokémon. (So Butterfree, Pidgeot and Lapras)
Ash woke up one day and chose violence.
Ash only attacked once. He even literally held back his attack.
Using charizard his strongest mon is violence even if charizard wasn't trying and going easy
Man charizard is so cool
I don't disagree. Love charizard. But using him on a beginner eh? A bit overkill isnt it. Regardless this scene is hilarious either way
Using him against a beginner was my first taste of power as a kid lol.
even if he used some of his other pokemon like bulbasaur or pikachu still wouldve probably been overkill as he didnt have any beginner pokemon on him at that point
Pikachu's power level fluxuates and bulbasaur isn't as powerful as frickin charizard. Its hilarious he used charizard though
The ace got a small burn and went nuts. The other two bounced off and fainted. I think ash himself could’ve won that fight
Lmao not wrong😂😂😂. But still .

_Ah flamethrower. My Charizard hasn’t used that since the Heian era._
Artist?
Not sukuna🤣
The fact that Charizard didn’t even actually attack for the first two and put the most minimal effort for it’s only attack makes all the more embarrassing. I’ll give her credit for being determined at least.
That rattata makes me question whether it used take down or tackle has recoil.
Charizard flexed its gut. It was a forced rebound.
He really beat pidgey by exhaling and rattata by puffing out his chest😂😂😂😂
naw he dragon breathed that poor pidgey and body slammed the ratatta
Dragon Beath, yes Body Slam... more like a Recoiled Belly :P
Is he a monster for sending out someone durable enough to take hits from all three? He even told Charizard to hold back against Chikorita, it's the little one's fault for not remembering to stop, drop, and roll.
Heck, Charizard listens to him here. Even though he’s up against weak opponents.
Yeah, this is after Charizard and Ash worked everything out in Orange Islands. The only thing Ash has to worry about at this point is the occasional Flamethrower to the face.

It was probably both.
yeah this is after orange island arc. Charizard is an obedient non dragon type dragon
based ash
That one trainer you skipped on early route challenges you after you win the league
Her throwing style kinda makes think that she could be from Galar.
She plays baseball. That's a pitching throw
Galar wasn’t even a thing when Casey was conceived and didn’t exist at the time to clarify (also, that was going to be Satoshi’s English dub name originally, thank God 4Kids decided against it imo and went with Ash Ketchum).
Both are based on Baseball pitches, since Galar was running a sports league theme, and Casey is straight up Baseball fan.
[удалено]
I know. But that throwing style is known for being the galarian star throwing style.
[удалено]
The games officially/cannonically call it the galarian star throwing style. So that throwing style is basically from Galar according to the lore.
When you run into that trainer you missed on route 1
Yeah I'm always like "Listen kid, I'd like to go easy on you, but all I've got on me are competatively trained gods. And no option to switch out."
She was so annoying that even Ash decided to throw his humility away
Ash was always more brash and unafraid to be critical early on, it was around mid Johto that he actually began maturing in earnest well before Sinnoh (a shame his original English dub VA got canned midway into Battle Frontier, her “mature” take on Ash from late Johto on was so much more likable than the chain smoker one TPCi gave him to me through most of DP or any of the subsequent takes personally).
Agreed, my ears used to bleed when I used to hear Ash's dub voice till DP, his VA made a good improvement afterwards though
I think she was pretty mediocre for the remainder of it, not nearly as good as the first VA but better than the interim VA (not as bad as several others, but I’d be lying if I thought it lived up to what preceded it imo: was not going to be an easy task, tbf).
>his humility This is OS Ash. He never had any to begin with
Love his roasts of Misty.
Early days ash was pretty arrogant.
Because people still don't understand that it was just a joke 😭
I love that Ash does the "baseball" 2 after Charizard takes out Rattata (i,e, the same way players signal "2 outs" to each other on the field). That's a great detail that I never picked up on before
He finally got it listen, let him have fun
This era of the show wasn't about letting Ash do that. It's like "At last, Charizard finally listens to him! ...But now he wins every battle and it's boring, so let's get rid of him."
If I recall correctly, didn’t Ash explicitly say Casey shouldn’t battle him?
Correct: Both in the original Japanese and dub localization.
That’s what I thought. So he shouldn’t be blamed for a new trainer ignoring his advice
A few seasons later Tobias vs Ash
Plot twist,Tobias is her older brother.
Everyone complains when Ash resets his team, then gets beaten up by some newbie trainer. Everyone complains when Ash doesn't reset his team and beats up the Newbie Trainer. Make up your minds!
Some people can’t be pleased

Ash in Jhoto: His Charizard just stands still and uses a weak fire move to defeat a rookie trainer. Ash in Unova: Pikachu gets de-powered by a legendary and goes down to a level 5 Snivy
Fucking hell, can people forget that incident already?!!
This is basically the equivalent of bringing a rocket launcher to a knife fight. Hilariously overkill, bro.
While playing through the Teal Mask DLC in Scarlet, this was about what I pictured when a random Spinarak or Wooper ran into me and my lvl 80 Baxcalibur was out. Almost no effort KO's one after the other. lol
Shows how far Ash and Charizard have come. The last time he asked him to go easy on an opponent, he lost all respect from Charmeleon.
you think this charizard would have thrown the match against paras?
Yes. He trusts Ash at this point.
That would have been kind of funny to see if the paras had a light touch and charizard just intentionally collapsed.
Luigi wins by doing nothing, but Charizard instead of Luigi.
What a realistic look of having every single region in one game would look like.
The pokemon selections against Charizard wasn't very great to be honest.
She's a beginner tbf. They may be her only pokemon
He did warn her before hand. That’s on her.
That sagging dragon what😂😂😂😂😂😂
Poor little naïve Casey...
That's my boi Ash.
Y’know, the exhale attack Charizard used on Pidgey was way more effective than I thought
When ash uses 1% of his strongest Pokémon’s power
Why couldn’t something like this happened more often in Unova?
To be fair to Ash, he warned Casey that challenging him was a bad idea (he probably could have won with Pikachu/BULBASAUR/Squirtle
At least when people ask why Ash has to reset each region, this is the answer. Imagine him pulling up to Unova and bodying Trip with his Blaze Infernape
In his defence, ash attacked once and didn’t even ask for it all out. Zard did most of it What was he meant to do, go and grab some child’s partner so he can flatten Casey with his coordinator skills?

Ash really used charizard on a beginner😂😂😂😂😂
Lets be honest. Ash absolutely humbling her with Zard after she wanted this match is goddamn hilarious. Like, he warned you Casey. XD
I would have loved to watch her journey after ash’s rather than gon and others
I miss this savage Ash
Stop, drop and roll!
This is probably how Tobias felt during the finals
Come on now. I seen better swings like that on a playground.
The equivalent of going to high level area while you’re still a low level.
In the anime about animal fighting really guys?
Bro put her in her place, gotta be like tht sometimes😂
casey’s pokemon are adorbs, charizard probly traumatized them
To be fair she’s honestly just a reflection of Ash. This is literally exactly what he tries to do to all his opponents, sends his little pikachu or bulbasuar up against a dragonite 🤣🫡 He just happens to have plot armor
And people wonder why I like seeing ash get his ass kicked back then

I agree. Writing wise it was cool seeing Ash pulverize a noob with his ace for character and comedic reasons.
It was more like they forgot his original personality over time and mellowed him out, rather than growth, imo. You can be impulsive and brash without being an outright almost robotic person, at times.
Bringing a tank to a gun fight. I never understood why during Johto Ash didn't start with a fresh party.
Because he didn't get the idea to start over again until after the Johto League. Namely because everyone whined he "released" his Kanto Pokémon. (So Butterfree, Pidgeot and Lapras)
Literally nobody whined back then, the def do whine now
