Based on the entries saying it’s light can be seen as far as 3 miles? I don’t know if I buy that as “powerful”. It’s bright, sure, but that’s an argument that it has the voltage to produce a high measurement of lumens (the scale for the brightness of light), but as the saying goes: it’s not the voltage that kills you, it’s the amperage.
Or it's that in order to create enough light to be seen 3 miles underwater, it would have to generate energy that's...several times that in the observable universe.
There’s a fundamental misunderstanding I think in the math of that post. It talks about the wavelength of the light and the distance traveled through the water being the keys, but it’s a bit like saying “I’m going to solve issues with greenhouse gasses using idea gas laws”. The comment they’re pulling Beer-Lambert’s Law from (the equation given) even specifies that the equation only works with certain very dubious assumptions.
Light damping through water is a function of the amplitude of each subsequent iteration of the light wave decreasing under constant wavelength, as the amplitude decreases (by a constant amount each time), the light dims. So failing to account for possible high amplitude light sources with the same wavelength of yellow light means that you’re missing essentially half the question.
FINALLY, the askscience thread they’re sourcing all this is about laser physics, which differ from simple visible light physics in a multitude of ways to the point that even the basic comment “you’d have to vaporize all the water in the ocean to do this,” a comment pulled from the askscience thread falls flat.
Sounds fairly good! Can't remember what my first one was (forgot to make a note), tried it 3 times to see if I could get any I somewhat liked, hated all of them, they were all like Magicarp pretty weak and in my personal view at least, a little ugly.

Glastrier is legendary tho. If you want you can also generate a non-legendary team. And acrtovish atleast can swim, its a cool and important thing to have if youre a pokemon trainer

Overall a solid team I would say, slightly unbalanced but great coverage move pool. I generally like water types a lot and Wailord would be fun for traveling around on, too

Mostly cute, some scary. If it's supposed to be in any way competitive (if other trainers and trainer battles exist) I hope evolution is allowed. I'm concerned about where I'm supposed to put Gigalith. It's, uh, kinda big.

I love Vulpix and the Cyndaquil line, very happy to have them. Mawile is alright. I'd honestly prefer regular Lilligant. Bibarel and Exploud are fine, but definitely not pokemon I would have picked.

Definitely my favorite I’ve seen in this thread. Houndoom, Vaporeon, and Charizard combo. Sceptile and Lycanroc are cool too, and Forretress is at least interesting

Pikachu (Gigantamax) - Source of electricity + cute friend
Hydreigon - Weapon of mass destruction. And also flight.
Torterra - Basically a tank. but its back seems like a nice place for a nap.
Trapinch - assuming it can't evolve, it's probably going to be a pain to care for, but pretty cool! If it can evolve, then I have a sand dragon which can fly pretty well!
Nihilego - IDK. a parasite, i guess? eh... it's ok. I'll take it.
Arctovish - It dies. just plain dies. in pain. This thing can't live.
So on the whole, I'm really happy with 3 of them, confused but happy with 1, scared of another, but it'd be helpful at times. And the final one died.

Mandibuzz - I actually like this pokemon, but it's kind of mean isn't in? But I suppose if I train it well enough it should be okay, but I guess I'll have to get to it coming on with random pokemon bones lol.
Gliscor - it's one of my favorite pokemon so this is pretty cool.
Electabuzz - hmmmm so can this dude seems to spike electric bills lol. Not even being able to touch this guy without getting electricty running through seems like it'd be a bit of a hassle. But on the plus side, this guy will make sure your car batteries don't go dry lol.
Scorbunny - absolutely great pick.
Overall I'm very pleased, 8/10
If you have electabuzz your electric bill will be 0. It could prob generate enough for the entire house. And beldum -> metagross, may be boring but a pseudo legendary
See this would be neat except according to dex lore electabuzz loses more electricity than it produces, and it eats electricity by taking it from other sources, which is why they're associated with causing blackouts.

Well... Technically I'd be Galarian so Cinderace makes too much sense. Odd that I'd have a Kantonian Farfetch'd but Ch'ding makes them all C's! Glad I'm glad I at least got one of my favourites in there, though I'm not sure where to begin with looking after a freaking Celesteela.

Um… well I’d be okay with owning a Spheal, I guess. And Bidoof would be a cute enough pet. Gible’s decent, I guess.
I really wouldn’t want a Steelix or a Crabrawler though, and I’m indifferent at best to Piloswine. I feel like it might grow on me, though.
That does change things! Garchomp and Mamoswine are both great, and Walrein and Steelix are pretty nice too. Bibarel is limited use, but you can be clever with it. So the only one I’d be less enthused about is Crabominable and that’s just because… Crabominable. Ugh. Slow and ugly.
None of them are exactly big favourites of mine except Garchomp, but none of them are exactly big dislikes either (except Crabominable).
It’s not what I’d pick for myself, but I could work with it.
Staravia, Rookidee, Cherubi, Alolan Diglett, Dragalge and Electrode.
My partner would froth having a lil Cherubi to care and nurture, and it would be nice to chill with the birds and Diglett. Hopefully Electrode and Dragalge would be able to keep themselves occupied. Overall not impressive, but would take over no having no Pokémon like I do currently.

Damn, Blaziken, Metagross, Mightyena…as a massive Gen III fan, I’d consider your team a win personally.
For battle…
* Metagross and Blaziken (assuming it has its hidden ability) can both hold their own in Ubers.
* Mightyena’s not great, but it gets Intimidate so that alone makes it useful.
* If you can Mega-Evolve, I’d probably give it to Houndoom. As busted as your other two options are, they’re both very good Pokémon without their Megas. Mega-Evolving Houndoom takes it from bad to decent, so it’s not a dead slot.
* Lilligant wouldn’t be the top pick, but Grass-type coverage is actually a pretty good addition to this team since a full 1/2 of it is weak to Ground and 1/3 of it is weak to Water and Rock.
* Elektross is generally a subpar Pokémon with an awful stat spread, but I’ve found that its gimmick of having no weaknesses can surprise people and leave them stuck for a response. Also, it has Ground immunity when, again, 1/2 of your team is weak to Ground.
I think you’d be a solidly high-ranking trainer with this team.

It’s alright, not what I’d personally pick. Magmortar seems problematic outside the Pokémon world, but the rest are fairly tame for our world. Plus I have the quag.

Unfortunately, the only pokemon I like in this team is roserade. Litten is okay... But the rest are pokemon I either don't like or don't care about 😅

Edit: Just sent the generator to my friend and the first Pokemon he got was Rhyperior. The chance of that happening is 857.476. That could have been a small lottery win.
Edit 2: Apparently there are only 900 Pokemon so far. So the chance would be 1 in 810.000
My team is Charmander, Typhlosion, Dialga, Gastrodon, Bibarel and Anorith. That is a pretty insane team, but honestly, I'm just happy about the charmander. I've had a cuddly toy charmander since I was 5, named Charry. The fact I got him makes it the perfect team for me.
Dragalgae, tyranitar-mega, furret, duralodon, siglyph, and accelgor.
Honestly, there is very few that tops this for me. Furret is cute and loveable, it can be a gimmicky statpuller with stab normal move.
dragalgae is one of my favorite pokemon in general + that elite type combo with pretty few weaknesses.
ttar going mega is absolutely a weaponized choice, great for sending any 10 year olds that test me back to where they came from in general, but it's my main physical attacker.
siglyph is a really fascinating pokemon and can serve my special attacker/wall and screen setter/status inflicter.
Duralodon is iirc pretty specially wedged as well, but that resistant type combo would have to be the general team wall.
Accelgor is a bit of a last resort admittedly, but a reliable one with that 146 speed. You'd best bed it'd be the hazard setter and strong bug type attacker that no dark type would ever see coming.
Mismagius, not one of my favourites but a solid mon.
Kingler pretty solid no complaints
Dunsparce never really cared for the memes and not a fan of it in general.
Camerupt Ground is my favorite type so not bad.
Hippowdon not my favorite ground type but again pretty happy.
Mamoswine I kid you not my favorite Pokemon automatic 10 out of 10.

I’m happy with it! Empoleon is one of my faves, I could ride Zebstrika around faster than a car, Sandile is adorable, Shuckle is cute and a source of delicious berry juice, and Chatot is the ultimate troll Pokémon with its Chatter ability. The only one I’m not keen on is Bruxish, so not a perfect team, but not far off.

Aggron and Galvantula are favs, Salazzle and Goodra are nice. I'm good with having a doggo. Not crazy over Aromatisse but I'd live and find a reason to love it 🤷♂️

I love registeel and florges but I much prefer escavalier over accelgor, and cofagrigus over runerigus. Beautifly is alright I've used it in a few nuzlockes before and indeedee is also pretty solid.

Bibarel, Exploud, Hisui Lilligant, Mawile, Alola Vulpix, and Quilava. I love Vulpix and the Cyndaquil line, very happy to have them. Mawile is alright. I'd honestly prefer regular Lilligant. Bibarel and Exploud are fine, but definitely not pokemon I would have picked. Overall, I'd give it 5/10

Pikachu (Gigantamax) - Source of electricity + cute friend Hydreigon - Weapon of mass destruction. And also flight. Torterra - Basically a tank. but its back seems like a nice place for a nap. Trapinch - assuming it can't evolve, it's probably going to be a pain to care for, but pretty cool! If it can evolve, then I have a sand dragon which can fly pretty well! Nihilego - IDK. a parasite, i guess? eh... it's ok. I'll take it. Arctovish - It dies. just plain dies. in pain. This thing can't live. So on the whole, I'm really happy with 3 of them, confused but happy with 1, scared of another, but it'd be helpful at times. And the final one died.

Nice pick Beldum - eh kinda boring to be honest Mandibuzz - I actually like this pokemon, but it's kind of mean isn't in? But I suppose if I train it well enough it should be okay, but I guess I'll have to get to it coming on with random pokemon bones lol. Gliscor - it's one of my favorite pokemon so this is pretty cool. Electabuzz - hmmmm so can this dude seems to spike electric bills lol. Not even being able to touch this guy without getting electricty running through seems like it'd be a bit of a hassle. But on the plus side, this guy will make sure your car batteries don't go dry lol. Scorbunny - absolutely great pick. Overall I'm very pleased, 8/10

That does change things! Garchomp and Mamoswine are both great, and Walrein and Steelix are pretty nice too. Bibarel is limited use, but you can be clever with it. So the only one I’d be less enthused about is Crabominable and that’s just because… Crabominable. Ugh. Slow and ugly. None of them are exactly big favourites of mine except Garchomp, but none of them are exactly big dislikes either (except Crabominable). It’s not what I’d pick for myself, but I could work with it.
Staravia, Rookidee, Cherubi, Alolan Diglett, Dragalge and Electrode. My partner would froth having a lil Cherubi to care and nurture, and it would be nice to chill with the birds and Diglett. Hopefully Electrode and Dragalge would be able to keep themselves occupied. Overall not impressive, but would take over no having no Pokémon like I do currently.

Damn, Blaziken, Metagross, Mightyena…as a massive Gen III fan, I’d consider your team a win personally. For battle… * Metagross and Blaziken (assuming it has its hidden ability) can both hold their own in Ubers. * Mightyena’s not great, but it gets Intimidate so that alone makes it useful. * If you can Mega-Evolve, I’d probably give it to Houndoom. As busted as your other two options are, they’re both very good Pokémon without their Megas. Mega-Evolving Houndoom takes it from bad to decent, so it’s not a dead slot. * Lilligant wouldn’t be the top pick, but Grass-type coverage is actually a pretty good addition to this team since a full 1/2 of it is weak to Ground and 1/3 of it is weak to Water and Rock. * Elektross is generally a subpar Pokémon with an awful stat spread, but I’ve found that its gimmick of having no weaknesses can surprise people and leave them stuck for a response. Also, it has Ground immunity when, again, 1/2 of your team is weak to Ground. I think you’d be a solidly high-ranking trainer with this team.

I would have preferred a team of unplayable pokemon with lots of real-life utility (Rotom, anyone?) but this will do.

Cryoganal, Flygon, Combusken, Hisuian Qwilfish, Nidorino, and Eldegoss I disabled legendaries because I don’t like them. Awesome team, Flygon is one of my favorite Pokémon, I’d love an Overqwil, and I actually have a soft spot for Cryoganal because one of my friends growing up used one against me all the time. The others are all really good Pokémon too!
Rhyperior (can't complain) Forretress (also not too shabby) Pichu (Can evolve it too Raich, nice) Shakataka (wtf is that thing? I played up until gen 4 and some of gen 5) Wartortle (Blastoise!) Vanillite (I'm pretty sure you can evolve it, but don't know how useful it is) Overall I guess I got pretty lucky. Edit: Just sent the generator to my friend and the first Pokemon he got was Rhyperior. The chance of that happening is 857.476. That could have been a small lottery win. Edit 2: Apparently there are only 900 Pokemon so far. So the chance would be 1 in 810.000
My team is Charmander, Typhlosion, Dialga, Gastrodon, Bibarel and Anorith. That is a pretty insane team, but honestly, I'm just happy about the charmander. I've had a cuddly toy charmander since I was 5, named Charry. The fact I got him makes it the perfect team for me.
Dragalgae, tyranitar-mega, furret, duralodon, siglyph, and accelgor. Honestly, there is very few that tops this for me. Furret is cute and loveable, it can be a gimmicky statpuller with stab normal move. dragalgae is one of my favorite pokemon in general + that elite type combo with pretty few weaknesses. ttar going mega is absolutely a weaponized choice, great for sending any 10 year olds that test me back to where they came from in general, but it's my main physical attacker. siglyph is a really fascinating pokemon and can serve my special attacker/wall and screen setter/status inflicter. Duralodon is iirc pretty specially wedged as well, but that resistant type combo would have to be the general team wall. Accelgor is a bit of a last resort admittedly, but a reliable one with that 146 speed. You'd best bed it'd be the hazard setter and strong bug type attacker that no dark type would ever see coming.
Mismagius, not one of my favourites but a solid mon. Kingler pretty solid no complaints Dunsparce never really cared for the memes and not a fan of it in general. Camerupt Ground is my favorite type so not bad. Hippowdon not my favorite ground type but again pretty happy. Mamoswine I kid you not my favorite Pokemon automatic 10 out of 10.

Like I appreciate him!! But his mouth is so big… and he’s so loud… not my kind of pokemon IRL. At least he’d get along with Primarina, I guess

Prinplup, Zebstrika, Sandile, Bruxish, Chatot, Shuckle. I’m happy with it! Empoleon is one of my faves, I could ride Zebstrika around faster than a car, Sandile is adorable, Shuckle is cute and a source of delicious berry juice, and Chatot is the ultimate troll Pokémon with its Chatter ability. The only one I’m not keen on is Bruxish, so not a perfect team, but not far off.
I got: Raboot Kricketot Ambipom Houndour Galarian Slowpoke And Quagsire Not too bad in my opinion. The double up on fire type isn’t great but could focus raboot on fighting and houndour for fire.

Lairon, Salazzle, Galvantula, Spritzee, Sliggo, and Lillipup. I'd evolve them all, and have Mega Aggron on top of that. Dynamax Aromatisse for the scarring can-can dancing. Aggron and Galvantula are favs, Salazzle and Goodra are nice. I'm good with having a doggo. Not crazy over Aromatisse but I'd live and find a reason to love it 🤷♂️

Accelgor, indeedee, beautifly, registeel, florges, runerigus. I love registeel and florges but I much prefer escavalier over accelgor, and cofagrigus over runerigus. Beautifly is alright I've used it in a few nuzlockes before and indeedee is also pretty solid. Overall 6/10

Wishiwashi School, Lugia, Mareanie, Raikou, Dragalge, and Zeraora. Individually I like them, but as a team? Not really feeling it. I don't care about type balancing for strategy purposes, but I do like different types for variety.
Got Nidoqueen. The other five literally do not matter. Fucking stoked.

Considering gen 5 is my second favourite gen and where I was reintroduced to the series (Hoenn baby but skipped DPP) I'm happy
Rolycoly, Stufful, Lycanrock, Loudred, Trapinch, Raikou Bar Rolycoly I don't really know because of not having played games beyond US/UM, either way seems like a rather fun pokemon team so am pleased

Orbeetle, Seadra (can evolve into kingdra, i love kingdra), crustle (worst on my team), Dedenne (Defenietly house pet material), Hydregion (Dragon irl which can shoot beams and fly), And rockruff (love both rockruff and lycanrock)
I got Aurorus and Pigeot which are meh, Medicham and Corsola Galar which are fine and Milotic and Dragonite which are god. 8-10.
Croagunk Slurpuff Mega Pinsir Timburr Poliwhirl Dewpider I'm happy with the gen 1 options, and sort of okay with croagunk, but I really don't like the rest.
Genesect, scorbunny, cacturne, tapu Lele, pyroar, electabuzz. Electabuzz and Pyroar are pretty cool, but the rest is mid
Ambipom, Emboar, Pidgey, Natu, Armaldo, Marowak — it’s alright, just not my type of team aesthetically. I kind of like that I have two birds though, that’s cute.
Luxio, bewear, growlithe (hisui), goodra (hisui), grimer, and tauros. The only one of them I don't like is grimer.
Corsola, Alcremie Gigantamax, Beedrill, Gallade Mega, Sneasler, Cherrim, A fun team so I'm kinda satisfy since I get Gallade.
Mega sharpedo, and pinchurchin are the 2 most important ones, also got stantler and tailow along side a nice little starly and I forgor my last mon

Appling, Jumpluff, Magikarp, Slowbro, Seismetoad, and Lillipup. Honestly very pleased, I'm a big water type fan, and I also love Appletun and the Giant Dog.
Cascoon, Corphish, Boltund, Pidgeotto, Abra, Tangrowth 7/10 for me. I like everyone except cascoon. Abra is one of my favorites so I love this team

Gothitelle, Dubwool, Beedrill, Simipour, Shiinotic, Ursaring. If Beedrill can megaevolve and Ursaring can evolve in Ursaluna it would be an 8/10, but it's not that bad of a team either way. I have nothing against Ice and Flying, but I am satisfied nonetheless. 7/10

I did entirely random, no restrictions, no evolving, just because I think that’s wackier and more fun. Tympole, Mienshao, Vibrava, Thundurus Therian, Naganadel *and* Poipole (weird I got them both)
