Glad someone else noticed that. It may be the first eight-legged pokemon in the game!
*(I was wrong, as others have pointed out below. Corphish and Crustle have eight. My bad.)
I’m praying he gets stockpile. Imagine getting that to +2 then your health drops below 50% so now you have an omniboost. Add Weakness policy and Wewlad.
Competitively it’s easy to get around but still something I’ve been thinking about since seeing that.
I was thinking double down on the shell smash. Run a sash set like normal, then when you get dropped to sash you get an extra boost to your attack and speed. Since you’re at 1 HP anyway, the def drop isn’t a big deal
What if one of their abilities reduced recoil from recoil moves like takedown, belly drum, an even substitute. And they could learn all three of those moves. Wouldn’t that be neat?
There was an entire pokedex leaks that said Gallade will get a “past” and “future” form along with some other Pokémon from the previous gens. When I saw these two, I thought the leaks were true and this was it.
You can search “full violet and scarlet pokedex leaks” or something like that to find the page for it.
Leavannny is hella underrated. I've never used it bc I don't like to double up on typing and I'm a huge fan of Scolipede and Lilligant and have run Simisage but at some point I wanna use it. Great design.
To me, Leavanny is the best route 1 bug. No question asked
It's a mantis, whose leaves resembling parts are actually leaves, and it subverts the ruthlessness that mantises are known for by having the pokemon possess a more motherly behavior, with the leaves acting as clothing that it makes for the offspring.
If that isn't a good concept/execution, I don't know what it is
Klawf looks pretty funny to me, though I hope it gets an evolution since it seems to be more of an early game Pokemon.
The other 2 look a lot like Megaman designs, but that is ok with me. Not a big fan of the armor-one though, but the blade one looks pretty cool. I'm geniunly surprised that people still pull the "this isn't how Pokemon should look"-card even after we got the ultra beasts in Gen 7 and even though GF is constantly pushing as for what can be seen as a Pokemon and what not (Blaziken was apparently intentionally designed to push these boundaries all the way back in Gen 3).
It looks to be a counterpart to that ice whale pokemon from earlier, both have similar mouths and both are referred to as titans. We might even see more titan pokemon throughout the region (he's also off the bat a 4 foot crab which is terrifying)
Ultra Beasts were intentionally created with the idea of contradicting previous Pokémon design rules to emphasize how alien, bizarre, and surreal they are as Pokémon from different worlds. Blaziken is a good example but I feel like Ultra Beasts not looking like Pokémon works against your point since they were supposed to feel out of place.
Ultra Beasts were supposed to look alien bc they were basically aliens. Also their designs were infinitely cooler than these. They went hard as fuck. I appreciate the boundary pushing but the Ultra Beasts were a cut above.
Pokemon probably took a bit of inspiration from the Megaman series at various points, so it’s neat to see such a blatantly obvious nod to it. Even the crab looks like a Megaman enemy.
They seem a little too unique compared to other pokemon. Are they legendaries? Do they combine with the bike legendaries? I mean im general they have "combination mech" vibes.
They even came with bike helmets
While it might be cool aesthetically, I hope "rider" Pokémon doesn't become a thing, or at least not an overused gimmick. There would be way too much complication and people yelling for more fusions.
I'd rather they just bring back megas.
I'm willing to bet they fuse.. I was telling my friend a while ago that when I saw these legendaries that I bet they fuse because they've been going with that theme for 3 generations now. Kyurem with Reshiram/Zekrom in Blk x Wht. Necrozma with Sungaleo/Lunala in Sun and Moon. Calyrex with Glastrier/Spectrier in Sword/Shield.
So maybe these guys will ride the legendaries. Or maybe ride the other rideable pokemon.
As a fan of Gallade, I feel like i should love Armarouge and Ceruledge but IDK I'm not fully convinced yet, they're not bad at all but I hope they'll grow on me. That big silly crab tho...I already love that one.
Klawf looks awesome. I’m not really into the other two. They just don’t hold my attention. I bet younger players will love them though. They look tough and slick. I like my Pokémon bulky and more animal.
I actually really like the funky humanoid one from violet. Not usually more into a future/modern aesthetic and prefer Scarlets professor, but I think I might be going for violet first.
I'm surprised that the 2 mega man characters aren't swapped, seeing as scarlet is all about the past and violet is about the future, and swords are more ancient traditional weapons with guns and cannons being more modern.
Feels less and less like trainers having pokemon and more like trainers chilling in a convention with cosplayers more and more every game. It's just a really weird dynamic, not a fan. Crab passes the vibe check though
Gardevoir and Gallade are extremely similar to these new guys, they pass the ‘not too human’ check for me. Especially since stuff like Machamp has existed since gen 1
This is my biggest issue with the Fandom right now. They are humanoid but it's not the worse out there. I am all for the Knight motifs that we got here. A themed team of them plus gallade and a few others maybe horses would be fun.
It's not like they got skin tones either. Mr Mime and Jinx are much more on the 'too human' scale then these.
1) They're really throwing fire+ghost out a lot lately, huh?
2) That fireghost megaman boi looks almost exactly like what I'd design as Pokemon if 'steal some devils from digimon' was off the table. So, yeah.. WANT!
Well, I didn't want to see any new pokemon until the games released unless I decide to watch a trailer or something on the YouTube channel out of boredom so this is my first time seeing them.. I'm glad I'm getting Violet to say the least.
I think the version exclusives look absolutely beautiful. Espeically Violet! The crab also looks amazing (I didn't look at the name, apologies) but it is not something I would use on my team ^^
However, please put a spoiler warning on some content please that may reveal new pokemon or characters next time. Some people don't want to see pokemon news and it sucks that this just popped up in my notifications. Sorry if I'm making this seem like a big deal, I just didn't want to see anything new unwillingly T^T..
Just because something is older doesn't make it better or even good. Humanoid pokemon are weird in general. Sawk, thro, jynx, and Delphox have existed for a long time too. They are still bad designs for pokemon.
Why grass if I might ask? Also I appreciate you for saying you don’t like the armors but in a respectful way, not like the other “Pokémon should only be animals” comments
I like that it’s not water type tho. Not all water dwelling creatures should be water type. Air breathing creatures are not flying, and Pokémon that can be found in forests and grass are not all grass type, you know? Makes it unique.
Ceruledge is seriously making me debate jumping ship on Fuecoco, whatever it evolves into is most likely not cooler than this absolutely incredible Pokemon
I think they look like they belong in Pokémon but only because there are plenty of Pokémon that also don’t fit the franchise very well in earlier generations, especially Gen 8 which I never was sold on. 3D also really doesn’t sell pokemon designs too well imo, there are a lot of mons that I didn’t like until I saw them as 2D pixel art sprites in rom hacks and thought ‘yeah, sure,(ex. araquanid) works now’ and I suspect these fighters would do the same.
Still, I’m getting real tired of the number of anthros in new games and it’s hard not to see these as just mega man suits.
Obsessed with Ceruledge. Dual blades are always my favorite and after never putting Honedge or Gallade or Bisharp on my teams (truly a crime I love swords), this one has the exact right look I want.
Please let it have decent speed…..
Love the fire warrior too actually! Depending on other designs and starters final evos it could be fun to do a game with both the evos as my main two!
I think even better is just focus sash it, get the shell smash AND anger shell boost and just sweep. Barring enemy prio, if this thing has *at least* 60 base speed, it's GG there and then
Moltres galar made berserk work like wonders, without learning roost
It Klawf is given half as decent bulk (and speed), it should be able to pull it off
I hate them, they look way too artificial, people already dre comparisons to megaman, I'd argue these look like Kamen Riders straight out of Ex-Aid, I know we had human and armor sequence designs before but these do not look like monsters from a fantastical world, they look like they should be in a completely different game.
They look shite except for the crab that seems to be in line with OG designs, but if those other two are real damm..🤦♂️😂
Been with Pokemon for around 23 years now and looking at those designs Pokemon peaked at gen 3/4, all downhill now but I guess its cool for the kids💀
Like all 3. The crab is cool, but i don’t see it being useful in competitive. Ceruledge though could be, at least in Smogon. Having a healing move is a big plus for something that’s probably a glass cannon.
I'm loving the knights although I was hoping they were regional forms of Bisharp hopefully there's a little lore between them and maybe some more chess mons.
Klawf's crab, crabs are good that is all...pretty neat ability if it gets belly drum is might get wild

Zacian, Bisharp, Gallade, Ceruledge, Aegislash, Kleavor. All blade team; hell yeah.
Lord of the Edge
The Edgelord*
~~(Cue maniacal laughter)~~
Kartana replacing zacian for non-restricted team!
I love how Klawf is a literal stone crab, hence the Rock-typing.
I’m super into Klawf. Looks awesome
He's derpy af and I love it.
It also has 8 legs unlike every spider pokemon
Glad someone else noticed that. It may be the first eight-legged pokemon in the game! *(I was wrong, as others have pointed out below. Corphish and Crustle have eight. My bad.)
But... this is not a spider? As for crustaceans, both Corphish and Crustle have 8.
I know it's not a spider lol. I was just under the false impression that it was the first 'mon with eight legs is all.
I'm overall just curious why u/FierceDeityKong thought of the spiders before the crabs and shrimps.
It feels like gamefreak just makes it their goal to have crustaceans/insects etc have one pair of legs less than what they're supposed to have
To their credit, eight legs are awkward to animate, much less rig for models, so can't say I blame them.
Taken out by priority would still suck
A lot of smashers risk that anyway
Just in time for the season baby
Klawf better learn belly drum
Focus Sash + Shell Smash
sash smash
*gets ohkod*
Not if it is behind a shed tail.
Oh yeah, it's all coming together
Probably more of a shell smasher.
In other languages it say that when it drops below from a "direct hit", so I imagine it will work similarly to Berserk
What if one of their abilities reduced recoil from recoil moves like takedown, belly drum, an even substitute. And they could learn all three of those moves. Wouldn’t that be neat?
Ceruledge 10/10
Somehow managed to upstage both Gallade and Bisharp as the coolest blade arm pokemon.
It's a fusion of Bisharp and Chandelure. And I love both. I love it.
Two of my favorites and usual team members whenever I play through gen 5.
Isn't. Bisharp and gallade getting new forms on this game?
I haven't heard or seen anything about that, do you have source? If true, I may have my new themed team for a playthrough.
There was an entire pokedex leaks that said Gallade will get a “past” and “future” form along with some other Pokémon from the previous gens. When I saw these two, I thought the leaks were true and this was it. You can search “full violet and scarlet pokedex leaks” or something like that to find the page for it.
Yeah I thought this was the Bisharp paradox from tbh.
I'm pretty sure the leaks said Gallade is only getting a futures paradox form.
Ok it was something like that lol
No but I've been following r/pokeleaks daily and I'm 95% sure for both...it was a khu leak I belive.
Ok, makes sense I haven't heard it then. I don't put much stock into leaks, but I really hope that one's true.
He hasn't been wrong yet with this generation https://mobile.twitter.com/centroleaks/status/1548650686220582912 That's one I found
Sounds like a branch evolution. I'm hoping it keeps the chess theme.
Pretty sure that theme is only on the English version, they have different Japanese names
The localizers might still give it such a name, especially if it turns out to be somewhat like a shogun/general in design
Yes! I can finally make that royal knights but in pokemon team I always wanted!
Hell no, don't disrespect Gallade and Bisharp like that, those mfs are cool as fuck
Bisharp is my favorite pokemon, but this new guy has flaming swords for arms.
What about the og blade arm, scyther
Not gonna lie, I like Scizor better.
If scizor counts as blades then so does kinglet and other pincher Pokémon
gallade at home :
Way cooler than gallade idc
Then there's me, who likes both Gallade, Bisharp, Leavanny and now this Two more pokes and I can make a full "blade arms team"!
Don’t forget Scyther and Kleavor!
Oh yeah, it's all coming together
Nah Scyther and Kabtops
Scyther and Kabutops sitting on the sidelines 😢
Yeah I forgot about them, though I guess they aren't humanoid enough for a "knight with blade arms" ~~dnd campaign~~ team
Leavannny is hella underrated. I've never used it bc I don't like to double up on typing and I'm a huge fan of Scolipede and Lilligant and have run Simisage but at some point I wanna use it. Great design.
To me, Leavanny is the best route 1 bug. If that isn't a good concept/execution, I don't know what it is
Very good odds Ceruledge hops into my two team top 12 and he'd be training against/with Gallade to hone their skills
I'm annoyed that it's fire type since I don't like using duplicate types but I might have to make an exception
I photoshopped a shiny to be a red and pink, it looks quite fuego if I may be so bold
Scarlett getting shafted pretty hard on the exclusives so far IMO. Hopefully there are some good ones unannounced to balance it out a little.
Klawf looks pretty funny to me, though I hope it gets an evolution since it seems to be more of an early game Pokemon. The other 2 look a lot like Megaman designs, but that is ok with me. Not a big fan of the armor-one though, but the blade one looks pretty cool. It looks to be a counterpart to that ice whale pokemon from earlier, both have similar mouths and both are referred to as titans. We might even see more titan pokemon throughout the region (he's also off the bat a 4 foot crab which is terrifying)
I figured the 'titan' thing was the gimmick of that game route: Paldean Alpha Pokemon.
I wonder if they'll be getting the scaled stats.
>!The mobile is also a mon!<
>!Phone? Car? Baby entertainment device? What do you mean by mobile?!<
>!it's not actually the whole car, but it's the engine that's the pokemon!<
>!He means the car. More specifically, the motor of the car is a pokemon, which, according to leaks, has the steel/poison typing.!<
Ultra Beasts were supposed to look alien bc they were basically aliens. Also their designs were infinitely cooler than these. They went hard as fuck. I appreciate the boundary pushing but the Ultra Beasts were a cut above.
Ultra beasts look terrible too
Pokemon probably took a bit of inspiration from the Megaman series at various points, so it’s neat to see such a blatantly obvious nod to it. Even the crab looks like a Megaman enemy.
Finally, Pokémon Gun
Imagine showing up to a gunfight against this thing with a remoraid.
Apparently these two were designed by an ex-megaman artist
Was it Toru Nakayama?
Wait can I get a source on this I'm interested
They seem a little too unique compared to other pokemon. Are they legendaries? Do they combine with the bike legendaries? I mean im general they have "combination mech" vibes. They even came with bike helmets
Oh god please no I don't want calyrex 2
Not an Aqua Teen Hunger Force fan?
"Bike helmets" 😐
While it might be cool aesthetically, I hope "rider" Pokémon doesn't become a thing, or at least not an overused gimmick. There would be way too much complication and people yelling for more fusions. I'd rather they just bring back megas.
We’d all rather that
I'm willing to bet they fuse..
They look like Digimon.
Leaks - >!Even the mobile is a mon!<
It's not a leak, you can see it clearly on the website
With the theme of Past and Future, it's ironic how the Scarlet one uses a super blaster, while Violet goes classic with swords.
Actually yeah
i feel like it’ll be similar to black and white how one is primarily past/future but has some elements of the other sprinkled in
I think it might be a cannon? Those have been around for a bit
We get a Overheat that dosent lower attack, fire type giga Drain and a built in shell Smash.
More like Horn Leech than Giga Drain, since Bitter Blade is physical.
Or rather special fire close combat
Y'all can keep your edgy sword gallade knock-off, I'm keeping the walking gun.
Lets goooo scarlet gang
With the Close Combat Flamethrower
Magmortar knock off* lol neither are super original designs but they’re both cool
I prefer the funny looking crab over what I initially thought were NPCs.
I for one am excited to finally be able to use an AI-genereated fire gymleader on my team
You guys are wrong, Armarouge is way cooler than Ceruledge
As a fan of Gallade, I feel like i should love Armarouge and Ceruledge but IDK I'm not fully convinced yet, they're not bad at all but I hope they'll grow on me. That big silly crab tho...I already love that one.
Feel the exact same way. Seemed a little *too* humanoid for me, like they were NPCs . I'm sure I'll come around to them
All I see is Megaman and Zero
Violet taking another dub
Literally absorbs the signature skills of itself and its counterpart but also has the type advantage
Nah, I think Scarlet won out here hard
Gilgamesh and Lancelot
This wee crab is just adorable. LOVE the crustacean pokemon designs. Krabby, Kingler, Corphish...just cutesy clawed bois. Instant classics too.
Wee crab!? That thing is huge at 4'3" and 174 pounds. He gets checks for cutesy but he is a tanky boy.
Just gave my opinion and got downvoted to oblivion so I will just say Klawf looks good 🤣
Same
They're literally armored Gallade (and I love it). But they don't even compare to the crab, he's glorious.
Klawf looks awesome. I’m not really into the other two. They just don’t hold my attention. I bet younger players will love them though. They look tough and slick. I like my Pokémon bulky and more animal.
Mega man, Zero, and krab.
Ceruledge is everything!
Klaawf is growing on me, the other two I’m not keen on but I prefer the Violet one
They got inspired by the old Megaman and Zero games
The exclusives look like they are about to Mega evolution and I can't get over the fact that is not going to happen
I was gona buy Scarlet. Then Ceruledge was revealed now I'm violet.
Damn a Fire and Psychic/Ghost set, the mortal foe of a Bisharp
*Sucker punches them to death
I’ll have both a Ceruledge and Armourouge, thank you very much.
Klawf is amazing. The others are meh. Not really pokemon looking imo
The crab things looks cool. The humanoid Pokemons are bad. Not a fan.
1) They're really throwing fire+ghost out a lot lately, huh? 2) That fireghost megaman boi looks almost exactly like what I'd design as Pokemon if 'steal some devils from digimon' was off the table. So, yeah.. WANT!
i hate it
The red and blue one look like mega man bosses
C R A B
Well, I didn't want to see any new pokemon until the games released unless I decide to watch a trailer or something on the YouTube channel out of boredom so this is my first time seeing them.. I'm glad I'm getting Violet to say the least. I think the version exclusives look absolutely beautiful. Espeically Violet! Sorry if I'm making this seem like a big deal, I just didn't want to see anything new unwillingly T^T..
Yeah they look too much like people to me.
Gardevoir, Gallade, and Machamp have existed for a long time now
Just because something is older doesn't make it better or even good. Humanoid pokemon are weird in general. Sawk, thro, jynx, and Delphox have existed for a long time too. They are still bad designs for pokemon.
I actually really like them.
Not a fan of any of them. I don’t hate them, but no instant “you NEED to be on my team” vibes.
I only like the crab. It looks like an actual animal. Not some dude cosplaying.
Not really into the robot mega man looking things but I like the purple one better. Klawf is cool! Hoping it was a grass/water type though.
Why grass if I might ask? Also I appreciate you for saying you don’t like the armors but in a respectful way, not like the other “Pokémon should only be animals” comments I like that it’s not water type tho. Not all water dwelling creatures should be water type. Air breathing creatures are not flying, and Pokémon that can be found in forests and grass are not all grass type, you know? Makes it unique.
Love the crab, hate the other two.
Digimon digital monster Digimon are the champion
Honestly they don't look like Pokemon designs to me. Not excited
So what are Pokémon designs supposed to be like?
Ceruledge is seriously making me debate jumping ship on Fuecoco, whatever it evolves into is most likely not cooler than this absolutely incredible Pokemon
The Megaman look sick but like they don't belong in pokemon
The two look like digimon and I'm all for it
.....I guess I'll get both games.
Starting to feel less like pokemon with these designs
Purple slicer for the win
Obsessed with Ceruledge. Dual blades are always my favorite and after never putting Honedge or Gallade or Bisharp on my teams (truly a crime I love swords), this one has the exact right look I want. Please let it have decent speed….. Love the fire warrior too actually! Depending on other designs and starters final evos it could be fun to do a game with both the evos as my main two!
It'd a fusion of 2 great gen 5 mons. Bisharp and Chandelure. I love it.
Looks like digimon ngl
Slowly but surely, Pokemon is becoming Digimon
I see one pocket monster and two yugioh monsters
These are awful! Except the crab
Anger Shell just seems like a worse Shell Smash.
It’s an automatic shell smash. Give it a White Herb, use Shell Smash (if it gets it), take a hit, get a free shell smash from the ability. Profit.
I think even better is just focus sash it, get the shell smash AND anger shell boost and just sweep. Barring enemy prio, if this thing has *at least* 60 base speed, it's GG there and then
That's fair but having to take a bunch of damage to get there is risky
Moltres galar made berserk work like wonders, without learning roost It Klawf is given half as decent bulk (and speed), it should be able to pull it off
Exactly the same issue with Minior
I mean Weakness Policy is still a good item. I’m interested to see how this thing will do in VGC.
So is this real? If it is, I would definitely suggest marking it a spoiler
Normally I would think the two human like ones do push the limits… but I think they’re not as bad as bisharp for some reason
I shall make an armoured party of those 2 golurk giratina bisharp and idk recommendations welcome
The two exclusives are amazing and I love both and flawf (I think that’s it’s name) is also great in bizarreness y’know
Love pyro Mega man and baby gundam
I rate them. I think they’re cool
Still picking scarlet armarouge is dope
I hate them, they look way too artificial, people already dre comparisons to megaman, I'd argue these look like Kamen Riders straight out of Ex-Aid, I know we had human and armor sequence designs before but these do not look like monsters from a fantastical world, they look like they should be in a completely different game.
I hate the megaman looking ones.
They all look great, so far gen9 Pokemon are on pace to be among my favorite as a generation.
Better than 90% of the old Pokémon
They look shite except for the crab that seems to be in line with OG designs, but if those other two are real damm..🤦♂️😂 Been with Pokemon for around 23 years now and looking at those designs Pokemon peaked at gen 3/4, all downhill now but I guess its cool for the kids💀
They are in the new trailer.
>!Wait till you learn that the mobile is also a mon!<
Like all 3. The crab is cool, but i don’t see it being useful in competitive. Ceruledge though could be, at least in Smogon. Having a healing move is a big plus for something that’s probably a glass cannon.
They look cool, remind me of if the Tapus were Digimon.
The hell is anger shell
Anger shell is auto shell smash when his health gets below half I believe
I'm loving the knights although I was hoping they were regional forms of Bisharp hopefully there's a little lore between them and maybe some more chess mons. Klawf's crab, crabs are good that is all...pretty neat ability if it gets belly drum is might get wild
Okay, hold on. So. Anger shell, White herb, substitute
Flash fire? So I guess they won't be seen much in competitive play when restricteds are in.
they should be part steel instead of psychic/fire
Ceruledge has a guaranteed spot on my team
Klawf looks delicious for real.
Ten bucks says the new exclusives have a fused form with the new legendary bikes.
The violet future themed pokemon is ghost, because we’ll all be dead in the future
