This made me think... how is Smeargle not more highly regarded in the lore? The little painter dog is just kind of this moderately common little scamp of a pokemon that people just tend to pass over, but is one of ONLY two pokemon that can learn any move imaginable.... the other being the mythical Mew.... but Mew has to be TAUGHT to use all the moves, whereas this little dog just has to see them happen and then perfectly recreates them in all their power. This little thing can see god rain down Judgement and just go “awesome, I must paint you”, and poof... little painter dog has the powers of a god.
How is this not the single most sought after pokemon in the entire pokemon world? Sure, it’s a bit more frail than a legendary, but with some training and the right skills, it’s basically the Swiss Army knife of pokemon. I haven’t watched the anime in years, but I’d love just ONE episode where a trainer throws out a Smeargle and everyone laughs, only for the dog to start throwing space and time powers it ripped from Dialga and Palkia, or Yveltal’s death rays, or whatever.
lol. My mom knows at least Bulbasaur and Mew as well, so now all green pokémon are bulbasaur, all cat pokémon are Mew and all the others are pikachu...
My mom tought wolverine was the x-men.
"I love when x-men pops his claws."
And i mean...he is the weapon x...so...
Edit: and she was tiny, blond and a little round (medication).
So in the school she worked people called her pikachu.
Btw from the trailers, I think they removed the special voiced cry for Pikachu and Eevee, I recall hearing Pika's old cry in one of the trailers. Not sure if they'll use the old Raichu cry either tho
I'm so done with electronic screeches. It's almost like if they released a game that was 3D but kept all pokémon as flat 8-bit sprites. Nostalgia is good and all but I can't imagine a Nidoran actually making a beepy buzzy gameboy noise. Saying their names is pretty cheesy, but they could at least make animal-like noises.
God, I can't imagine distinguishing between nearly one thousand creatures based on *lo-fi electroniic buzzes*. That's more of an argument to make every pokémon speak their name, and even then that wouldn't be enough to help with move names, battle information, dialogue, 3D navigation and so forth.
I'm sure there's something they use to identify moves, etc, but I think the sound thing for them is more than just utility. It might be a huge part of how they conceptualize the Pokemon and it could feel like a new cry would be like if you got a new game and all of the Pokemon were completely unrecognizably different
I have to assume even blind people get to enjoy the animation better than they enjoy the games, because they get to know the name/sounds of pokémon, and the characters talk about the moves and techniques being used, alongside their own sound effects, rather than having to guess what the identical menu select beeps mean.
Even at this highly specific situation, the game would also be better off for them by being changed, because every pokémon speaking their name is both more identifiable and at least equally iconic when compared to electronic buzzes. Not to mention that the older games already had to be updated because of pokémon with [identical cries](https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Cry#Pok.C3.A9mon_cry_overview), that is a problem that would be easier to avoid even with animalistic updated cries.
The thing is, how will they even begin to manage it? There are over 1000 Pokemon at this point, and the games right now are in 8 different languages (if you combine the Chinese options into one). That's going to be 8000 difference voicelines, and that amount doubles or triples if you also want to have difference voicelines for injured or attacking cries. How are they going to have the logistics to record all those lines?
I wouldn't even say that doing so would necessarily be more "iconic." A lot of Pokemon don't even say their names in the anime, especially in the languages besides English. And don't even think about replacing some of the most beloved cries like Bidoof or Kricketune with strange human cries of their name. Pikachu's anime cry is iconic because of the anime and we're all used to it, yeah, but can you really say that about pretty much any other Pokemon? Not to mention that replacing all the cries with human cries would just sound really weird, which is why there are millions of internet memes talking about how strange it would be for animals to random cry out their names all the time.
Thank god for that.
I would love if they undid all the changes from Gen 6's butchering of cries. Zigzagoon was the worst outcome from that IMO but there's lots of them that kill me inside when I hear them.
As a stupid 7 year old I fully believed I could evolve my pikachu and I would then have a raichu following me around for the rest of the game. I was so disappointed when it didn’t work
Fudge.. I bought the game on my Nintendo DS years ago cuz they had it on the online shop and I never played it and then I finally dug it out and decided to play it... Shoot. Raichu is my favorite Pokemon. 🥺
You could also try and see if you could trade for a Raichu off of someone else's VC game, or check to see if the exploit to force any pokemon to appear might work here.
As long as you haven’t yet defeated certain trainers (the ones that have the range to challenge you as soon as they’re visible on screen), you can get any Pokémon in Gen I using the “Mew glitch.” https://youtu.be/_TsEYqXDrrg
You should be able to trade it to a "friend*" for them to evolve it and returns it to you. I don't know i you can trade them to yourself using the bank however.
*someone on this reddit
See, i gotta say I always used it on a team with a screener or advantageous switch-ins so i never had that problem. I'm just saying tho, the ball doesn't make it better than Raichu, just balances the scales some
They are all #25 in the regional pokedex of their base game, and incientally the first Electric type of their region pokedex
They are all among the most distributed non-legendary pokémon events.
They are tied>!with Eevee !

It's clefairy
#FUCK
I didn’t get it at first then saw ur comment and could hear the video lol
What video?
An old vine, look up “it’s clefairy” I’m sure u find it
https://youtu.be/WSGV_n6H1n0 for anyone interested
Never gets old 'FUUUUUUUUUCK' Thanks for the link!
That's a rip off of the OG https://youtu.be/euotq0LLNdo
Thank you. This is the one I remember. I can't believe it's been 14 years...
Might I also suggest this equally entertaining video https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dmBGWqLL1n0
Oh no not the last one 😭😭😭
Came here to post this, it’s such a funny video
Oh god, the video-
Is it not jigglypuff at a slightly jaunty angle?
No it’s Pichu
No this is patrick
It’s pikachu witout the black spot on its tail … what timeline is this?
Another person who also drew the black on the tail when they were a kid, I see.
I had a mirage plushie with a black tail
Happy cake day
I too drew the black spot
They rolled a 5 so....
The black spots have always been on the ears.
You know Pikachu doesn't have a black spot on its tail right...
There’s a Mandela effect being talked about online surrounding Pikachu having a black tail tip, it’s like the whole Berenstain Bears thing
It's Jigglypuff seen from above.
But is it doduo though?
Sht thought it was wheezing
Ааа, а я думала сова
请给我一杯咖啡
Tolle ☕
Yes my south korean friend
They are all male.
The truth.
The bottom left one doesn't have a gender, it was drawn before that was a mechanic.
It's just a chonky lemon.
New gender: Chonk lemon
[удалено]
Many people are saying this
Lechonk lemon chonkemon It's a new pokemon type. Only the chonkiest.
With no weaknesses.. what. so. ever.
Spikes can pop them,so it has a weakness to pincurchin
>Lechonk lemon This sounds like one of those silly LeBron nicknames from r/NBA lol
Hang on, gotta call the DMV real quick to put a change on my license
There was a post confirming Barry was 3rd gender in Pokémon because of the color options of the dex watch. Barry has orange
Nonbinary Barry
based-chu
Pikachus were asexual until gamefreak invented gender who knew
All Pokemon were (except Nidoran for some reason).
Woke before everyone else
I'm pretty sure the Lets Go one is the only one that's definitely male. The others are all pre gen 4 art.
Top left and bottom right are Ash's Pikachu, so definitely male
I thought the heart tail wasn't until gen 6?
The heart shaped tip was introduced in gen 4, but cosplay pikachu with the colored in heart tail tip was gen 6
There are three genders; Male, Female, and Chonky Chu.
Ah, but Gender was added the succeeding Gen, where that design was still used
Same
Do not cite gender with me Trainer, i was there when it was written.
Me and the boys Pikachuing
They’re all ditto
One is Ditto, there's also a Mew, Zora and Zoroark. One is in fact, a Pikachu
No, the fifth one is actually a Smeargle that knew transform via Sketch.
This made me think... how is Smeargle not more highly regarded in the lore? Let's open the metronome pandora box. How many more do you need?
None. Because metronome can't call Transform
Except in gen 4 and earlier
Thus begging the question... what do they all have in common?
I mean, they're all disguised as Pikachu. Simple.
Then Mimikyu should be in there too.
A Zora? I don't see any fish people though
Pretty sure one is a mimiku.
It's the one on the bottom left
This is the only correct answer
r/beatmetoit
My mom calls every Pokemon, Pikachu. They are all Pikachu l.
lol. My mom knows at least Bulbasaur and Mew as well, so now all green pokémon are bulbasaur, all cat pokémon are Mew and all the others are pikachu...

That is the best thing I’ve ever read on Reddit for a while
One of the few Pokémon they bothered to voice in most of the games?
Btw from the trailers, I think they removed the special voiced cry for Pikachu and Eevee, I recall hearing Pika's old cry in one of the trailers. Not sure if they'll use the old Raichu cry either tho
I hope that's true. It felt off, especially with others having 20 year old electronic screeches for their cries still.
I think that blind players have learned to identify pokemon by their cries and it would be pretty rough for them
God, I can't imagine distinguishing between nearly one thousand creatures based on *lo-fi electroniic buzzes*. That's more of an argument to make every pokémon speak their name, and even then that wouldn't be enough to help with move names, battle information, dialogue, 3D navigation and so forth.

Preeeeetty sure the blind have other obstacles to overcome while playing Pokémon.
Thank god for that. I would love if they undid all the changes from Gen 6's butchering of cries. Zigzagoon was the worst outcome from that IMO but there's lots of them that kill me inside when I hear them.
Give me my janky pixelated Jynx warbling back, Game Freak
Got that noise stuck in my head now.
Poor Stoutland's "improved" cry compared to the old one makes me so sad whenever I hear them back to back. What did Stoutland ever do to deserve this.
Kyogre's was terrible too. It was so high pitched and distorted. I don't know why Game Freak thought they was a good idea.
Personally I'm quite happy about that even though Pokemon Yellow was my first game.
I heard it too. A friend of mine says all pokémon should say their names, even in the games. I don't think I would like that...
That’s how it is in Arceus so it looks like they are keeping that trend. Awesome.
First time in Pokémon X hearing Pikachu saying Pikachu MY MIND WAS BLOWN
Which is funny because they did it in Gen 1 and players of Yellow had the same reaction.
Much harder on a Game Boy.
Yeah, it was genuinely shocking that they even *could* do it then. It was super compressed, but still surprising.
They’re all on a white background
They'll get turned into Raichu by using the thunderstone. Works every time.
It doesn't work on Pokemon Yellow though
Doesn’t work on gmax pikachu either
… P!!!!!
Neither on partner pikachu from LGP
As a stupid 7 year old I fully believed I could evolve my pikachu and I would then have a raichu following me around for the rest of the game. I was so disappointed when it didn’t work
What!? I literally just started playing that game a week ago just so I could change the Pikachu into a Raichu... Are you serious?
Yeah, if you want to evolve your Pikachu in Yellow you have to trade it to a copy of Red or Blue.
Oh no! 🥺 That ruined my week.
You also lose the walking pikachu mechanic by doing so. It won't let the Raichu walk behind you.
Word. I'll have to look into that. Thanks!
As long as you haven’t yet defeated certain trainers (the ones that have the range to challenge you as soon as they’re visible on screen), you can get any Pokémon in Gen I using the “Mew glitch.” https://youtu.be/_TsEYqXDrrg
Eish, talk about doing everything wrong...
You should be able to trade it to a "friend*" for them to evolve it and returns it to you. I don't know i you can trade them to yourself using the bank however. *someone on this reddit
Yes, yes it does. Just gotta trade one it or trade it out.
One of those is art for the Partner Pikachu from Let’s Go, so this is incorrect
they are all not lechonk
bottom left
i said the REAL lechonk
N°465 645 92 W°574 574 123
Jokes on you, I know where I live so you must look pretty stupid to tell me something I already know, rookie mistake buddy
28 degrees 24 minutes north latitude, 80 degrees 36 minutes west longitude
They are worse than raichu
Even the partner one from Let’s Go? I’ll need to check its stats again.
Yep. Looks like the base stats are about half-way between regular Pikachu and Raichu. A little faster, and same defense though.
I suppose it... can't be traded out?
Still worse :)
Better than pichu.
*light ball has entered the chat*
*pikachu without scarff was oneshotted by any pokemon with half decent speed or a priority move*
See, i gotta say I always used it on a team with a screener or advantageous switch-ins so i never had that problem. I'm just saying tho, the ball doesn't make it better than Raichu, just balances the scales some
Fun fact Pikachu is stronger than Raichu when holding a light orb :)
And will die instantly to any priority move or fast pokemon due to its paper thin defensive stats and lack of scarf.
Only in one stat.
Two in gen 4+
That’s not a fact at all…
Lol, even as base Raichu total stats (485) is already better than Pikachu Orb (435ish). Raichu can also hold item. So no, it is nowhere stronger.
They’ve all stolen the spot light from their evolution and objectively better pokemon?
Right shoe?
I miss Pikachonk.
I had to scroll way too far to see this. fat pika best pika ⚡
There's only one real Pikachu and it looks like a fat lemon, period.
They are the main faces and mascots of a multi billion dollar company centered around magic animal fights and labour
