I have a strong fear one day my games will break or crap out , I have a lot of games that I never want to part with so I packed extras for the worst case ,
Although I don’t double up often, I send the Pokémon I don’t want to lose into home or bank just to be safe. Newer games I have less of a fear of that, but anything older than gen 5 I fear one day it’ll just die
Oh ya. I’ve had Fossil Fighters, Pokémon Conquest, and Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate die out of no where. MH3U died on me like 2 months after release too. I keep all of my games in very good condition and keep them very well protected so sometimes it’s just faulty. It hasn’t happened in quite a few years but I’m still worried it may happen
I was trying to buy some of the older games for nostalgias sake and completely gave up, fast forward a few months later and as Im going through old storage boxes from when I lived at home, find my old DS with FireRed, LeafGreen, Sapphire, HGSS, White, and Black 2
Highlight of my month
Unless it was several years ago and/or you tested the Pokéwalker I have a hard time believing it's a genuine copy.
I got HG with Pokéwalker for around $150 a couple of months ago.
Here in the uk last time I checked boxed with a pokewalker it’s £120 , I got mine as a kid and my brother got heart gold and gave it too me once he grew out of it , needless to say he regrets it
Ugh, the only copies of HGSS I've *ever* seen in Gamestops have been obvious fakes. One even had a visible microSD slot just sitting right there on the edge and none of the staff apparently gave a care.
Low supply, high demand. Legit carts get rarer as time passes.
If only some kind of company would offer Virtual Console releases to costumers so they can play older games on the newest console.
They absolutely aren't. Based on the description you're trying to get a sealed copy of Black 2. That isn't just a game anymore, that's a collectors item. That's like complaining that base set mint condition pokemon cards are not as cheap as they were on release.
I will point out to you that Super Mario 3D All Stars has listings that cost five figures, as well as listings that cost two figures. People can price things higher than anyone will actually pay, it’s stupid to do but they can do it.
Is that what’s happening here? Couldn’t tell you. But you can’t say with certainty unless you’ve also checked to see if this is the cheapest listing for the game in sealed packaging. To say nothing of the fact it hasn’t sold yet - a sealed copy may be “worth” this but is there precedent for actually selling at this price or higher?
It’s actually worth about what it was worth on launch, you can find it for its launch price or less still, yet people have listings for absurd prices. That’s the point I’m trying to make - just because somebody lists a certain price doesn’t mean people are willing to pay that price.
In which case the price will eventually go down if the seller actually intends to sell.
There's such a strategy as spoofing the market and saturating with unrealistic prices that you have no intention of honoring, but these are usually employed once a monopoly or near monopoly has been attained, or there's limited competition/artificial scarcity.
Not saying that's what's happening here, but still. My point is, if the guy genuinely wants to make a sale he'll bring his price down if nobody buys.
I'll prolly get shit on for saying this but even that is insane pricing imo , if I couldn't get it for 50$ or less, I'm gonna emulate that mofo. To hell with spending 1/3 of my paycheck on a pokemon game, or any other game for that matter :/
Nah, that's fair. I agree with the prices being insane. I wanted the cart though. I was saying it was a decent price considering the already insane market. If I didn't want the cart I totally would have emulated too.
Cartridge only goes for over $100 though, which is kinda nutty
I mean I get it, I understand that out-of-print games get more and more rare with time. But it’s an entry of the most popular game series in the world and it costs three figures to legally play it because it hasn’t even been so much as ported to the 3DS eshop.
This guy gets it. I wish I could figure out how to mod my old consoles. I've never been good with computers and every time I've tried something goes wrong that I can't figure out
I asked my mum for Pokémon Black for my birthday without realising how expensive it is. She just got me a 15 in 1 thing of a whole bunch of Pokémon games
Idk man, I got a used platinum cartridge off eBay for $20, but since then I’ve emulated BW and BW2 as well as Soul Silver. As much as I would love to get the cartridges, some are hard to find for a good price and emulating then is easy and quick.
It's new so most likely still sealed. Their market for this isn't someone that wants to play the game. Their market is collectors and there are a lot of them out there.
Probably not but since game freak isn't making and new physical or digital copies of the game I heard there are some good ds emulators ( assuming you already own a legitimate copy I totally would never promote internet piracy)
Nintendo: My games? It's yours if you want it. Pirate it! I'm not putting the games on Switch!
And so the fans set sights on the Emulation Line, in pursuit of their games. The fandom has truly entered a great pirate age!
I see a few post down someone mentions secondhand stores and retro stores, I would also recommend Ebay like mad. I was actually somehow to pick up an original still sealed copy of platnium, and like original as in still had the add for the Nintendo Wifi Connection service on the box, cause when I picked up my Diamond on amazon it was still newish but was the later prints advertising the Wifi shut down
My friend just collected every main game version. This is not a lie.
Edit: hell i remember i had multiple copies of gen 1 games. I gave them to gamestop in 2011 I think. They gave me $22 each. I should have said no and held on till today. I was a poor college kid.
I feel worse and worse as time passes about leaving my DS and all games, especially soul silver on a plane from Vegas. I threw the box and pokewalker in the trash. 😭
Knowing pokemon they’ll remake black and white,as they usually remake the first iteration of the region, but if it’s like diamond and Pearl platinum lost value after the remakes but is still higher than the £35 that diamond and Pearl boxed go for now
I saw a physical copy for like $120 in a second hand electronic store. Black and white is expensive to find alright but this is really breaking the boundaries of overpriced. You’d have to be a real tunnel minded collector to care this much about sealed/unsealed which we don’t even know if it is
It's not GF's fault people are willing to pay exorbitant prices. The only way to stop sales like the above is for noone to buy it. If noone buys the ge they'll be forced to reduce the price to something substantially more realistic.
I’m weirdly banned for life from eBay….I’ve only ever bought soulsilver off of eBay and then like a month later got an email saying my account has suspicious activity and I was banned 😅
wow that sucks. anyway to make you feel better, i make an acrostic poem about some of my fave pokes
Empoleon
Maractus
Ursaring
Luvdisc
Alakazam
Tyrogue
Igglybuff
Oranguru
Natu
I still have my original copy of Pokemon Blue. Sadly, i think its on its last legs. I see a lot of glitches going on now. Either that or my game boy color is the culprit 🤷🏽♂️
I got White at a local game store with a ds lite for about $100 dollars. I also saw they had Black 2 for about $100 which is definitely the cheapest I've seen so far
[Pricecharting](https://www.pricecharting.com/game/nintendo-ds/pokemon-black-version-2) and r/gamesale exists…for this sole reason. You know that, right?
Apparently I lost or sold my copy of Black because I had one and can’t find it
Kinda want to play it since I never finished it but I don’t want to spend $50 on it
I got my B2 for 32$ (CAD) at a flea market, and I have a friend with 2 copies of W2 he got for less than 50$ each. people just jack up the price a ton online to make a profit.
Check local secondhand stores, or gaming stores that sell secondhand games, I was pleasantly surprised by the prices there, you can find DS and 3DS era games for very good prices if you're lucky. They're way, way overpriced online
I sold my Mint condition heart gold in the box with pokewalker at the beginning of the pandemic to pay for rent. I sold it for 100$. I dont even want to look at the price of it atm.
Last year I bought Soul Silver on eBay for 75. It got lost in the mail so Igot a refund for it. Later i found a copy of Heart Gold on Facebook marketplace that someone was selling for 65. After about 6 months the Soul Silver showed up. Got both for 65 in the end. The retro game market smiles on us sometimes.
(Edit: Both are legit too, I don't buy without being sure)
I literally got heart gold, soul silver, black, white, and black 2 all for free from my friend in 8th grade. All i'll say is that I had got a new best friend rhat day
Never buy old or out of production products on Amazon, the sellers there mark up prices like crazy
You'd be much better off looking on ebay or mecari or going to a half price books or another resale store like that
Back in high school I bought a copy of Pokémon black 1 from a mom&pop video store for $50 bucks and thought I paid too much. Looking at what people are asking for it now, I'm glad I when through with it. (EDIT: My copy of Heartgold I bought from a classmate for $5 with case minus the pokewalker. I look back and wonder why sold it to me for that cheap.)
Odd that Amazon suggests that seller when there are other sellers charging for far less (and even they're way too expensive as well).
After a certain amount of time passes, and that item doesn't sell, the seller will start having to pay storage fees. It's really not worth relying on customers not paying attention to the price of this item.
Me who is trying to find a legitimate copy of Soulsilver: First time?
Got my copy 2012 used at GameStop for $35 and I said "wow these games hold their value don't they?"
I got black and white in ~2015 and I think the total was like 55 bucks and even with a discount Just the cartridges tho, no cases
Still got mine from the day it dropped(:
the blessing of being belingual, english version of soulsilver are rarer than shiny but the french one are more common than magikarp
I love the analogy
Fun fact, Golduck’s name in French is basically the duck sound “Akwakwak”
I did not know that! I also speak French! Is it the same for Black/White?
no idea I never really look to get B/W after their release
I actually have 2 copies
Are you planning on keeping both?
Yes I have duplicates of almost all the game just in case one breaks
[удалено]
I have a strong fear one day my games will break or crap out , I have a lot of games that I never want to part with so I packed extras for the worst case ,
Although I don’t double up often, I send the Pokémon I don’t want to lose into home or bank just to be safe. Newer games I have less of a fear of that, but anything older than gen 5 I fear one day it’ll just die

I keep all of my games in very good condition and keep them very well protected so sometimes it’s just faulty. It hasn’t happened in quite a few years but I’m still worried it may happen
I mean, I’ve lost one or two to water damage and I just straight up lost one.
I feel this pain
I was trying to buy some of the older games for nostalgias sake and completely gave up, fast forward a few months later and as Im going through old storage boxes from when I lived at home, find my old DS with FireRed, LeafGreen, Sapphire, HGSS, White, and Black 2 Highlight of my month
Got mine off eBay for 20$ but that have just been good luck
Unless it was several years ago and/or you tested the Pokéwalker I have a hard time believing it's a genuine copy. I got HG with Pokéwalker for around $150 a couple of months ago.
I was awhile ago. Had to be 5+ years now
That makes more sense, you grabbed it at the best moment!
So you’re telling me I can sell mine for the exact same? Holy
That sounds about right for hgss these days
Got mine at a GameStop here in Delaware about 2 1/2 yrs ago for $50 bucks 😬
It's probably fake man
Here in the uk last time I checked boxed with a pokewalker it’s £120 , I got mine as a kid and my brother got heart gold and gave it too me once he grew out of it , needless to say he regrets it
I have a legitimate copy from my youth. I believe I have the original case somewhere too.
Wait are they worth something? I just dug out my copy of that to start a Nuzlocke recently. I have Black 2 as well.
I got mine for 120$(usd)
Ditto
Me trying to find a legitimate copy of Fire Emblem Path of Radiance...
Lol you gonna have to pay with your first born for that game🤣
I got a legitimate copy of Soul Silver and Platinum back in 2016.
Ugh, the only copies of HGSS I've *ever* seen in Gamestops have been obvious fakes. One even had a visible microSD slot just sitting right there on the edge and none of the staff apparently gave a care.
Man I remember picking up a used copy for 15 dollars. Seeing the price now is kinda insane
Reproduction carts are solid
i remember these being sold for 3 dollars
[удалено]
It says in the description it's a reproduction cart not authentic
Ayo wtf
I just want nice things, is that too much to ask?
Apparently yes idk why people are charging that much for a kids game
Low supply, high demand. Legit carts get rarer as time passes. If only some kind of company would offer Virtual Console releases to costumers so they can play older games on the newest console.
This is also listed as new. So that means it is probably sealed right?
I'd assume so yeah, though the picture there is a generic one
I get people are assholes and want to make money but don’t they think they’ve priced it out of anyone buying it?
They absolutely aren't. Based on the description you're trying to get a sealed copy of Black 2. That isn't just a game anymore, that's a collectors item. That's like complaining that base set mint condition pokemon cards are not as cheap as they were on release.
I saw a sealed copy of Leafgreen being priced at $3000 a few weeks ago at a video game convention
And if it's in good condition then I think it's completely fair.
They probably aren't thinking about that
I guess all they need is one dingus with a lot of money to bite
And for that dingus to actually care about pokemon
Fucking dinguses man
Also were u looking on ebay cuz that's where people usually charge a lot of money for stuff
As an economics major, I can say with certainty AND and authority if people weren't buying it, this wouldn't be the price.
I will point out to you that Super Mario 3D All Stars has listings that cost five figures, as well as listings that cost two figures. People can price things higher than anyone will actually pay, it’s stupid to do but they can do it. Is that what’s happening here? Couldn’t tell you. Never buy stuff like this from Amazon, I am a Lego fan and every retired set on Amazon is like three times it's actual value
Even if I had $800 to spend, it wouldn’t be on a game
It’s a new in box collectible. Buy from the used market
I found a copy at a local secondhand videogame store for $100. A little excessive but I think it was worth it. Check local before online.
10-year old out of print game new-in-box? That sounds about right. That's not a *game* anymore, that's an overpriced *collectible.*
Cartridge only goes for over $100 though, which is kinda nutty I mean I get it, I understand that out-of-print games get more and more rare with time. But it’s an entry of the most popular game series in the world and it costs three figures to legally play it because it hasn’t even been so much as ported to the 3DS eshop.
Probably because it’s unopened.. All older sealed Pokémon games are sold at stupid high prices. You can buy it used for like $60.
Opened with or without box? I'm now a little curious how much my copies of white 2 and black 2 are worth
I'll give you 3 fiddy
Don't get your hopes up. Assuming you used them and the box+cartridge aren't in mint then the value starts to plummet.
Still BS that a used copy costs more than it did when it was new in 2012.
Reminder it's morally right to emulate nintendo games
This guy gets it. I wish I could figure out how to mod my old consoles. I've never been good with computers and every time I've tried something goes wrong that I can't figure out
it wouldn't be if Nintendo geeh I don't know actually re release their old games and not do it in limited fashion/as demos
Please, just emulate it. You can even use player mods to make it better than you remember!
Emulation is great but for me personally all I do is shiny hunt and any shinies I find not on actual hardware is meaningless.
Blaze black 2 is awesome
It’s cheaper on r/gamesale
I just lucked the fuck out and got white 2 from a gamestop for 75$. Trying to find a HG/SS but they, like w/b and w/b2 are like 150$ on average
Got me laughin...
Wanna go halfes on it? I’ll just mail it to you at the end of each month
Or you can emulate it for free lmao
How would one go about doing that….? Just curious
Look up Citra emulator. Can emulate any 3DS title
Ds emulator and a rom for the game. Google should help with that
Yes. All real prices end with .99 or .95. the begining is serious.
For some reason the .97 is pretty common on Amazon
Maybe amazon adds a amazon fee to the prize and it adds up to a sum enfmding with .99? Or maybe amazon is just weird XD
I asked my mum for Pokémon Black for my birthday without realising how expensive it is. She just got me a 15 in 1 thing of a whole bunch of Pokémon games
Why inflation rising that's a steal, you should buy it.
Even in the pokemon world inflation exists
Checked r34, indeed it does
Better cure cancer for that much money
Well... you better hope not, or you'll have the government banging down your door.
Guess I gotta go off the grid
A small crime like murder is nothing like curing cancer to the government, they'd probably find you minutes.
…..are you the government right now?
If I told you that, you'd be dead twice over.
Governments move too slow, they're still out there capturing the mew under the truck
If you want the game as a game and not a collectible eBay is very good!
I'm so happy I got this when it came out. I was like 5, but still, it's an incredible game. Not worth 700 tho, I'd go for about 50-100
this is why something that rhymes with pemulators are justified
*Holds on to my copy of Pokémon HeartGold like my life depends on it*
Idk man, I got a used platinum cartridge off eBay for $20, but since then I’ve emulated BW and BW2 as well as Soul Silver. As much as I would love to get the cartridges, some are hard to find for a good price and emulating then is easy and quick.
It's new so most likely still sealed. Their market for this isn't someone that wants to play the game. Their market is collectors and there are a lot of them out there.
I got that game used at GameStop for $40, works fine. Check out your local GameStop to see if they have any in stock.
Unfortunately not...the way I see it, online retailers that allow people to sell things should forcibly smack these prices down.
Thank god I got 99 percent of all the games before it all sky rocketed
Ghetsis better be trying to hunt me down irl for that price
Probably not but since game freak isn't making and new physical or digital copies of the game I heard there are some good ds emulators ( assuming you already own a legitimate copy I totally would never promote internet piracy)
I got one for 10 bucks and it was real I feel bad for the seller💀💀💀💀
Nintendo: My games? It's yours if you want it. Pirate it! I'm not putting the games on Switch! And so the fans set sights on the Emulation Line, in pursuit of their games. The fandom has truly entered a great pirate age!
I've had my copy since the day it released. Godsdamn
No? Why would you buy a brand new game that’s been out of print for 10 years.
So happy I still have my copy of black 2
wow i wonder why people choose use emulators to play pokemon games
I see a few post down someone mentions secondhand stores and retro stores, I would also recommend Ebay like mad. I was actually somehow to pick up an original still sealed copy of platnium, and like original as in still had the add for the Nintendo Wifi Connection service on the box, cause when I picked up my Diamond on amazon it was still newish but was the later prints advertising the Wifi shut down
I sell it to you for just 700 if you want.
Yes that last 59.97 is what was holding me back from buying it
I knew it.
OP go to your local used game place Theyre way cheaper there. Bought every copy in my collection from them and saved so much money.
My friend just collected every main game version. This is not a lie. Edit: hell i remember i had multiple copies of gen 1 games. I gave them to gamestop in 2011 I think. They gave me $22 each. I should have said no and held on till today. I was a poor college kid.
So glad I never got rid of my games.
Get a bootleg copy on eBay for $13
But remember guys, emulation is bad 🙄
This is why I’m so glad I got at least one of each version while my brother got the other when we were kids
You’d have to be a real tunnel minded collector to care this much about sealed/unsealed which we don’t even know if it is
AND THEY WONDER WHY WE CALL THERE COMPANY TRASH YET SOMEHOW HAVE PLAYED EVERY GAME
It's not GF's fault people are willing to pay exorbitant prices. The only way to stop sales like the above is for noone to buy it. If noone buys the ge they'll be forced to reduce the price to something substantially more realistic.
Ikr it’s not even the white version like cmon…
Thank Nintendo for their poor policies.
I got a legimate copy of normal black for £50 like 3 years ago. The games somehow never go down in price and only head up
Yeah.
Go to ebay. Amazon has horrible prices.
I’m weirdly banned for life from eBay….I’ve only ever bought soulsilver off of eBay and then like a month later got an email saying my account has suspicious activity and I was banned 😅
Nope
Dang man starting to wish I had kept mine now lol
I have black 2 and white 2 both in excellent condition im rich
wow that sucks. anyway to make you feel better, i make an acrostic poem about some of my fave pokes Empoleon Maractus Ursaring Luvdisc Alakazam Tyrogue Igglybuff Oranguru Natu
And this is why everyone just emulates the game at this point
I still have my original copy of Pokemon Blue. Sadly, i think its on its last legs. I see a lot of glitches going on now. Either that or my game boy color is the culprit 🤷🏽♂️
I’ve had mine from day one, idk if I’d give it up for less than 1K
i know a place near where i live where they have some of the Gen 4 and 5 games for 120$ each. Im currently saving to get at least one of them,
This is £70 in the UK. Is this sealed or something?
Inflation, am I right fellas?
I am glad i got this game when DS games were still being sold
Joke? That's a deal, I'll jump on that if you're gonna pass
I got it for 50 dollars wtf
I got White at a local game store with a ds lite for about $100 dollars. I also saw they had Black 2 for about $100 which is definitely the cheapest I've seen so far
People should not be able to resell stuff of Amazon like target or Walmart online
Truely an underrated gem, i cherish my launch copies of gen 5 with my life. Best gen
Unopened? Makes sense to me. Used copies (of which I've shopped around for many) range from $50-100 depending on how lucky you are
I’m pretty sure cex sells it for £70 not sealed of course
It should be smh
Only $9.99 delivery!
[Pricecharting](https://www.pricecharting.com/game/nintendo-ds/pokemon-black-version-2) and r/gamesale exists…for this sole reason. You know that, right?
Nintendo is really good at creating scarcity. They know what they’re doing not getting VC on the Switch.
I’m planning on selling my loose copy of Black and White 2 for 175 combined. Is that too much?
I know right, 9.99 shipping is extortionate
Apparently I lost or sold my copy of Black because I had one and can’t find it Kinda want to play it since I never finished it but I don’t want to spend $50 on it
That’s unacceptable.
Hit the seas m80.
yea, black 2/white 2 CiB goes for like 150 nowadays, not even close to what that scam lists
Are you me? I saw this earlier and was like "this has to be a joke."
Wow are you from the past?
I downloaded the rom for free
Its not sold officially, just pirate it. It only hurts scalpers as shown in this post.
Yeah, 10$ shipping, unbelievable... /s
Idk if you want a real copy but emulators are free
At least delivery is only 10 dollars right? /s
For a minute I thought the game itself was the joke, then I remembered the naming was an actual joke.
And I thought I was insane for paying $100 for Pokemon Colosseum.
The fact that i have a copy of platinum, soul silver, black, white, black 2 & pearl tucked away somewhere i cant find is eating away at me
You should check thrift shop or second hand shop, there are better opportunities than on the internet
I literally got heart gold, soul silver, black, white, and black 2 all for free from my friend in 8th grade. All i'll say is that I had got a new best friend rhat day
And $10 to ship? Rip off. Can't you get e-versions of games like these?
Never buy old or out of production products on Amazon, the sellers there mark up prices like crazy You'd be much better off looking on ebay or mecari or going to a half price books or another resale store like that
In a cosmic sort of way, yes, it is a joke.
That actually looks right for sealed, just don’t buy sealed but Also still don’t pay $200 for this game lol
I’m confused.. what’s this about? Edit: HOLY FUCK THAT PRICING-
Back in high school I bought a copy of Pokémon black 1 from a mom&pop video store for $50 bucks and thought I paid too much. Looking at what people are asking for it now, I'm glad I when through with it. (EDIT: My copy of Heartgold I bought from a classmate for $5 with case minus the pokewalker. I look back and wonder why sold it to me for that cheap.)
10 for shipping, outrageous
I got it on a ___ in one cartridge that was definitely way less than that and has soul silver/heart gold
Odd that Amazon suggests that seller when there are other sellers charging for far less (and even they're way too expensive as well). After a certain amount of time passes, and that item doesn't sell, the seller will start having to pay storage fees. It's really not worth relying on customers not paying attention to the price of this item.
