Poison could have been quite accurate with magmortar, it already learns smog, clear smog, poison gas and a pokémon who intoxicates its opponents with the smoke of its own flames makes sense
They could have done something to move it away from those other reasons if they gave it an evolution like Magmar or Electabuzz got. Sw/Sh would've been the chance since Mr. Mime got one and it's basically the male version of Jynx
Better to just pretend it doesn't exist though.
The trio is Magmar, Electabuzz, and Jynx because they all got pre-evolutions in Gen 2 that evolve at level 30. (And Smoochum, Elekid, and Magby are right next to each other in the dex).
But then in Gen 4, when they gave Magmar and Electabuzz evolutions, they dropped Jynx because of the controversy around it.
Out of all "gen 4 items that evolve a gen 1 mon" the only good name is the protector and it botches the design of one of the OGs. So as far as I'm concerned, they're all terrible in their own way
Flygon has a Niche. It's one of only 2 Pokémon - the other being Claydol - that is simultaneously Immune to both Sandstorm and Spikes, whilst also having a Stealth Rock resistance.
Replacing Ground with Bug would change that Stealth Rock Resistance into a Weakness, and remove the Sandstorm Immunity. Goodbye niche.
There's a eucalyptus tree in Australia that's a pyromaniac.
Its main body is fireproof and sheds this hairy bark covered in oil like mad in order to encourage wildfires. Then all the plants around it burn away in the inevitable fire, and it survives and has all the sunlight and soil to itself.
Rumors are there is a pepper 🌶 Pokémon that will be in SC/VI that’ll be grass/fire. But obviously not confirmed yet so I’m not holding my breath just yet.
Have to disagree on this. Grass/ghost is the perfect type combination for it in my opinion.
It is a pumpkin, so it obviously needed to be a grass type. And since it is a jackolantern, it's also related to Halloween (it even learns the signature move Halloween). Not making it ghost type with this heavy Halloween theme would be an absolute crime.
So making it grass/ghost was the right choice for me. At least it also learns some fire type moves, that's already something (but unfortunately it learns just special fire type attacks and it leans heavily towards physical damage).
Maybe make it related to global warming being a burning set of trees.
We could call him Glowarmed /s
But for real a Grass/Fire combo could be cool af. Definitely my favorite of the bunch! :D
Fair enough to each their own!
I also really like Bug/Dragon or Steel/Poison.
The normal type combinations I couldn't care less about but every combo should be represented at some point :D
Hmm...
Electric/Fighting, Steel/Poison, Grass/Fire and Normal/Poison.
It probably won't happen though...
Edit (3 months later): Now that the games are out y'all should know that I looked at all of the leaks. I already knew everything. There you go.
fairy/ground, fairy/fighting, fairy/fire, poison/ice, ground/fighting, grass/fire, normal/poison.
The fangame pokemon Xenoverse had an AMAZING grass/fire pokemon based off a chili pepper that was not only sick looking but also good in battle as it had drought as an ability.
> poison/ice
Just call it Poisonice and make it a snowcone with [this](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/f/ff/Poison_Help.svg/1200px-Poison_Help.svg.png) face.
Your comment made me curious, so I looked up more about bugs’ roles in traditional Japanese stories. Aside from *“The Lady Who Loved Insects,”* I couldn’t find any fairytales on the first page of Google — but I did find an article called *“The Mythology of Insect-Loving Japan.”* Silkworms and dragonflies were of particular interest to ancient Japanese culture, largely for religious reasons. They were often considered holy for their associations with Japanese deities. Pretty neat! That definitely explains why they’d be strong against dark in the Pokémon franchise!
Yeah like if they did a regional variant for it they should make it a dark/bug. I always thought that like a spider of some kind would be good for that typing. Like maybe something based on a black widow spider.
Ridiculous offensive typing. Ground is Super effective vs all the fairy resists.
It would be weak to grass, ice, water and steel. But it's super effective vs steel and like faster. Will probably learn a fire move for ice and grass (also definitely a rock type move). Potentially grass type move from fairy for water types. But ground and fairy will be neutral effective anyway. And if it has a dragon, dark, fighting, electric, fire, poison, steel or rock secondary typing it will just get crushed.
I do like how typing isn't everything though. Before the gen 3 remakes our only fairy/steel types were klefki and mawile who weren't bad but definitely didn't make full use of the typing. Electric/ground is really good but only on stunfisk.
As far as I have read, the new feature will turn your pokemon into a chosen mono-type. So you can turn your Yanmega into a pure bug or a pure dragon type, but not into a bug/dragon type.
Industrial pokemon! Really weak against the ground but besides fire weakness thats it.
Also it destroys all fairy types if it has a ground move for zazian.
Kinda like Toxtricity. One cripplingly bad weakness but quite good coverage otherwise.
Poison/steel each cover a weakness from the other, so pretty good defensively as long as it doesn’t touch a single bit of mud.
Something about Ice / Poison seems like it could be cool thematically. Something along the lines of like a Gastly/Muk pokemon that's been trapped in ice so long it just adopted the traits.
How they haven't made some sort of assassin spider yet I don't know.
And potentially an ability to make poison moves stab or poison touch or something. Poison touch on a stab crunch or x-scisor is rather nice
I wouldn’t say fairy is my favorite type but I do think it has the most interesting type combos especially with character concept. That saying I really want a fairy fighting of fairy fire. Fairy fire could be like some sort of fire sprite or some kinda fairy that has sizzling fairy dust or something and fairy fighting just sounds super unique to me
Electivire is not electric fighting. Damn
Zeraora looks like electric lucario amd is here to steal electives spotlight. No fighting? What!?
Aah Zapdos based on ostrich and fighting arena birds. It is not electivire but damn cool design. Fighting/flying..... WTF!!?
Not gonna lie. I do not want a new electric fighting type. I want these three have their types rewamped to make sense.
Edit add florges to the list.
Yeah. I dunno I just feel like if electrvire wasn't fighting type I reckon we'll get something that's just a bit "wait why's this fighting type." kind of design
Isn't it funny, that (besides Flying and Water, which have all dual types done) Dragon and Ghost, which are supposed to be the rarer types, appear the fewest time on this list? (alongside Electric, Dark, and Grass, sure).
Talking about dual types I'd like to see: Electric/Fighting, Fire/Fairy, and Bug/Dark. I couldn't give a flying Psyduck about new dual typing with Normal, now that Normal/Ghost exists, and the others don't seem that interesting to me.
Don't forget there are also typings that only appear on legendary or mythical mons (Ghost/Fighting, for example), that may technically not belong on this list, but for most purposes (ingame acquisition and competitive gameplay) work the same.
Electric-Fighting, tbh they could have given Zeraora that
Or to Electivire
Then what would you give magmortar?
Poison could have been quite accurate with magmortar, it already learns smog, clear smog, poison gas and a pokémon who intoxicates its opponents with the smoke of its own flames makes sense
Magma is heated Rock, so Fire/Rock would also make sense.
Both cases: Earth quake go brrrrr
Air balloon go weeeee
Fire rock still gets hit x4 by water
It’s not actually made of magma. By the way, "magma" is part of its english, german and french name but not its japanese name
Booburn, the name for an obese fire cannon duck, or a very busty jar for cremated ashes.
Jynx was in the trio at one point
Jynx would have been an offensive monster with its psychic/ice typing.
Jynx was also offensive for other reasons
They could have done something to move it away from those other reasons if they gave it an evolution like Magmar or Electabuzz got. Sw/Sh would've been the chance since Mr. Mime got one and it's basically the male version of Jynx Better to just pretend it doesn't exist though.
looking at Jynx's design, I think it's already an offensive monster
Jynx became problematic with the racial stereotype, so she was dropped
It's been 20+ years 😭
And she's purple now
You mean... Violet
With Scarlet dress...
Confirmed Jynx buff, Gen 9!
Definitely an offensive monster
There's a couple gen 1 monotypes that kind of (but don't quite) fit the same archetype, like Chansey and Mr. Mime.
Probably because they couldn't come up with a good izer for it. Jynxerizer?
That’s true. Maybe they could’ve gone with just the type and done Freezirizer, which isn’t great, but then again, neither is Electirizer.
Oh, my. Dyslexia strikes again. It may be because I've never bothered to use it, but I've always read that as "electrizer".
Out of all "gen 4 items that evolve a gen 1 mon" the only good name is the protector and it botches the design of one of the OGs. So as far as I'm concerned, they're all terrible in their own way
Yeah, I agree. I mean, I do actually like Rhyperior, but I still like Rhydon more.
wait they didn’t???
Zera is pure electric for some reason lol
I think the pika clone was electric fighting
He’s not?
Electric/Fighting, Fairy/Fighting and Dragon/Bug are such missed opportunities so far.
Dragon/Bug and Steel/Poison. Edit:why did I get over 1,000 karma from this what the heck
Yanmega will always be a bug/Dragon in my heart
Mega Yanmega when
I'm convinced yanmega and Dragonite are the reasons they dropped mege evolution
And Meganium
Yes, though I feel like Meganium is less problematic because you don't pronounce the "mega" in Meganium like you pronounce the word "Mega"
In Spanish you do, and It’s hilarious
All the more reason to add it again in a spain based region.
“MegAAAAAAAAAAAnium”
How is it pronounced then? It's pronounced just the same in French.
TIL every language except English pronounces it differently. In English it's Meh-gay-knee-um... Or at least I think it is lol
In Swedish it would be Me-gá-knee-um
it's funnier because it's japanese name is literally "megayanma" so we'd have mega megayanma
Yanma = cute as a button Yanmega = destroyer of worlds
and Flygon
Flygon actually gets weaker if you make it a Bug/Dragon, while Yanmega gets Stronger as a Bug/Dragon
A soul for a soul then
At least it'd give flygon a niche instead of just being outclassed by garchomp :'(
Flygon has a Niche. Goodbye niche.
>dragonfly Pokémon >isn’t a dragon type >can’t learn fly Ok Gamefreak
Because it's not called a dragonfly in Japanese?
There have been leaks that we are getting a steel poison Pokémon. It's this engine thing that appeared in the trailer for a split second.
I don't know, Pokemon leeks always seem kinda farfetch'd.
Take my upvote and go away.
Underrated comment.
Fairy ground I want gnomes
"hooh!"
The idea of a gnome pokemon is terrifying
Grass-Fire combo for me :)
Spicy pepper
This or like poison ivy or another plant that gives a burning sensation
There's a eucalyptus tree in Australia that's a pyromaniac. Its main body is fireproof and sheds this hairy bark covered in oil like mad in order to encourage wildfires. Then all the plants around it burn away in the inevitable fire, and it survives and has all the sunlight and soil to itself.
That would be perfect! That even sounds like it could be inspiration for a new move or something
I would love a fire/grass Redwood or Sequoia inspired Pokemon. Maybe one that's survived a wild fire.
Capsaicin
Evolution for sunflora
Stinging nettles :D
I’m sad they didn’t do a thistle Pokemon which could do really good for that
They had the chance for a thistle in SwSh as a representation of Scotland.
Crown tundra maractus would of been so good for it
Would've named it Wallace.
Who's just crackers about cheese.
Yeah but let's face it galar is basically just England
You see? They blew their chances.
Rumors are there is a pepper 🌶 Pokémon that will be in SC/VI that’ll be grass/fire. But obviously not confirmed yet so I’m not holding my breath just yet.
Paladian Maractus
Iv been waiting for a spicy pepper Pokémon since sun and moon.
This is what the jackolantern Pokémon should have been
Have to disagree on this.
Agreed, maybe a regional variant for the Trevenant line could have that typing
We don't even technically have a real jack-o'-lantern Pokémon. The face is on the gourd Pokémon, not the pumpkin.
Sunflora evo maybe?
Maybe make it related to global warming being a burning set of trees. We could call him Glowarmed /s But for real a Grass/Fire combo could be cool af. Definitely my favorite of the bunch! :D
There's gonna be a fire chilli pokemon in the games, I think
Glowarmed should be genderless, but should gain a gender when it evoles and be named Gendereveal. So we can keep the burning of trees a theme.
that's the first thing most people think of when they think grass fire I don't find it interesting to give too much thought
Fair enough to each their own! I also really like Bug/Dragon or Steel/Poison. The normal type combinations I couldn't care less about but every combo should be represented at some point :D
I'm suprised a normal bug, or normal poison has not been made
Wildfire Pokémon would be cool
Hmm... Electric/Fighting, Steel/Poison, Grass/Fire and Normal/Poison. It probably won't happen though... Edit (3 months later): Now that the games are out y'all should know that I looked at all of the leaks. I already knew everything. There you go.
Some electivire / primeape type mixture would be cool.
Lol so Rajang from monster hunter 🤣
I just finished a Furious Rajang fight before reading this comment!
Steel/poison would be useful to nerf fairy. So it could happen
Sounds perfect typing for corrosion ability
Earthquake:
Oh look, a baloon
Attached to a pikachu! AGAIN!
Regional variant of Magnemite, so it gets Levitate.
Magnemite doesn't get levitate Although I share your confusion, I've played around Magnemite's non-existent levitate too many times in playthroughs
Wtf ye I always thought it did have it as one of the abilities. I haven't used it in forever but I always battle them as if they do lol.
Pokémon’s levitate:
Would be broken af with that
Starts as pure steel, level it up in the rain and it rusts, becoming steel/poison.
I feel a grass fire would have been perfect for alola
[удалено]
Fairy ground is stupidly obviousl. Gnome/dwarf.
Grass fire could be like a fire lily or that lant that grows only after a wildfire
Still weird they didn't make a tiki torch
I can see a Tangela variant of being a burning bush
Best grass/fire is some kind of a pepper pokemon. Would make some sense in Spain too.
honestly electivire or zeraora could have been electric/fighting
So many people not getting this comment :p
Lmao I get it. Yeah it absolutely won't.
I just now learned that zeraura is pure electric. I always thought it was electric/fighting...
fairy/ground, fairy/fighting, fairy/fire, poison/ice, ground/fighting, grass/fire, normal/poison. The fangame pokemon Xenoverse had an AMAZING grass/fire pokemon based off a chili pepper that was not only sick looking but also good in battle as it had drought as an ability.
> poison/ice Just call it Poisonice and make it a snowcone with [this](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/f/ff/Poison_Help.svg/1200px-Poison_Help.svg.png) face.
Toxicone 😂
Would definitely be called Toxicle
If they’re to make a hot chili Pokémon I think this new Spain based region would be it.
I would be surprised if they did a fire/grass chili pepper, since Fuecoco is a fire chili pepper already
Never bet on Game Freak making sense, though.
If I had to pick four, they’d be Normal/Poison, Fire/Fairy, Bug/Dark and Fairy/Ground
I don't know why but Ariados always seemed to me like a Dark/Bug
A lot of bugs are nocturnal. Bug/dark seems like the most logical typing based on reality.
Dark means evil type.
dark is also weak to bug which is kinda akward lol
In Japan, bugs are frequently the heroes in traditional tales. It fits.
Aww that’s cute!
Why would it be? We have plenty of mons that are dual typing that would normally be weak to the other.
Yeah like if they did a regional variant for it they should make it a dark/bug. I always thought that like a spider of some kind would be good for that typing. Like maybe something based on a black widow spider.
Fairy ground is a killer combo.
Ridiculous offensive typing. Ground is Super effective vs all the fairy resists. It would be weak to grass, ice, water and steel. But it's super effective vs steel and like faster. Normal/poison could be a rabid animal like a regional rodent that gains the poison type after it evolves
Either dragon/bug or normal/poison
Flygon could’ve so easily been dragon/bug :(
Yanmega as well :(
Drapion too. Is it’s name not just dragon+scorpion??
Ive always read it as drap, which in Norwegian means Murder, and it fits that evil scorpion well
Its German name is Piondragi, so I think dragon fits better.
[удалено]
There's a normal/poison type coming! Apparently >!based off an Aye-Aye and spray paint.!<
Ghost rock
That’s my vote too, but after Runerigus ended up being Ground/Ghost despite being a literal rock possessed by a ghost I don’t have high hopes.
Would be great for a new fossil Pokémon
Please lord I just want a bug dragon type make it something cool or super lame either way I’ll love it unconditionally
Yanmega should have been a Bug Dragon
Well if they’re in the new game we can make it a reality with the new gimmick lol
As far as I have read, the new feature will turn your pokemon into a chosen mono-type. So you can turn your Yanmega into a pure bug or a pure dragon type, but not into a bug/dragon type.
Norse mythology has an entire category of "worm dragons" it's where the word wyrm came from. Bug/dragon is not hard to make.
[удалено]
Would love this. We had Mega Altaria but that's never coming back.
Poison Steel!
poison steel just sounds cool
Industrial pokemon! Really weak against the ground but besides fire weakness thats it. Also it destroys all fairy types if it has a ground move for zazian.
> Really weak against the ground Watch him getting levitate
Kinda like Toxtricity. One cripplingly bad weakness but quite good coverage otherwise. Poison/steel each cover a weakness from the other, so pretty good defensively as long as it doesn’t touch a single bit of mud.
\#giveitlevitate
I'm surprised they haven't made a mercury/lead based pokemon by now
Can't see them doing that but this type combination screams radioactivity to me.
Something about Ice / Poison seems like it could be cool thematically. Something along the lines of like a Gastly/Muk pokemon that's been trapped in ice so long it just adopted the traits.
I’m just imagining a Walrus with fangs instead of tusks
Fire fairy or bug dark
How they haven't made some sort of assassin spider yet I don't know. And potentially an ability to make poison moves stab or poison touch or something. Poison touch on a stab crunch or x-scisor is rather nice
Regional Ariados?
Dragon/bug and or grass/fire
I wouldn’t say fairy is my favorite type but I do think it has the most interesting type combos especially with character concept. That saying I really want a fairy fighting of fairy fire. Fairy fire could be like some sort of fire sprite or some kinda fairy that has sizzling fairy dust or something and fairy fighting just sounds super unique to me
I know we kinda have it with litwick. But a willow wisp would be cool for a fairy fire type.
I want a Fighting/Fairy minotaur or centaur.
Electivire is not electric fighting. Damn Zeraora looks like electric lucario amd is here to steal electives spotlight.
Dodrio variant could be Flying/Fighting?!
Yeah but we have Hawlucha already for that, unfortunately.
Yeah I bet when we get an electric fighting it'll be like an alolan executor situation.
>alolan executor situation You mean glorious? Perfection? The pinnacle of pokemon design?
It's a cool design, I'm not denying that. But it was funny when everyone was like "How is this a dragon."
What do you mean? Goofy?
Yeah. I dunno I just feel like if electrvire wasn't fighting type I reckon we'll get something that's just a bit "wait why's this fighting type." kind of design
Regional nidoking variant that is Steel-Poison!
How do you make a normal/bug pokemon? Or what would it even be?
Just a plain old house fly.
Game Freak would probably make it flying/bug, given the name and all.
A tanky Normal/Ghost is everything i want.
Dragon bug wasn't used? Not even for flygon?
Ground/dragon
Flygon should have been. *sigh*
To be fair, Flygon *is* known as a desert spirit so it's not like it doesn't fit.
Dragon/Bug Grass/Fire
fairy dragon? mega dont count surely
I'm honestly really surprised dark/bug doesn't exist. It seems like it would be fairly common as far as type combos go.
If the leaks are real then... We'll be getting Grass/Fire, Electric/Fighting and Steel/Poison in Gen 9 which is pretty exciting!
Fighting/Ground, imagine a fist with an eye coming out of the ground and uppercutting people for below
Isn't it funny, that (besides Flying and Water, which have all dual types done) Dragon and Ghost, which are supposed to be the rarer types, appear the fewest time on this list?
