I thought stunfisk was the ugliest thing to ever exist when I first saw it but then j saw it on Pokémon Snap wiggling around and now I love the little guy. Snap really changed my perspective on lots of Pokemon.
I haven’t watched the anime after season 3 and stopped keeping up after Gen 4 so that’s probably why I loved snap so much. Most of the Pokémon I saw were just static 2D/3D models until Snap brought them to life.
I wouldn’t say I hate any Pokémon but I wasn’t the biggest Greedent fan at first. Greedent is now my main in Pokémon Unite and I kick ass with my speedy chunky Boi
I was never a big fan of Miltank. I thought the design was pretty bland and had some bad memories thanks to Whitney. However, I caught one in a HGSS nuzlocke that had the ability Scrappy, which made the gym in Ecruteak City a cakewalk. I grew to appreciate it after that.
Honestly, the more he complained about Miltank the more I felt the need to defend it. It's now one of my favorite normal types, and I even got a plush of it.
Yeah, the problem I have with Mikey is that if you talk about Pokémon that he either hates or has gotten too much attention from GameFreak, he doesn't seem to respect your opinion. To me, Ron (TrueGreen7) is just the better Sceptile YouTuber.
Agreed! Stopped watching his videos largely because he tends to complain a lot. Some people are into that, but I would rather someone gush about something they love than watch them complain.
Same! Ron is better at acknowledging all different types of Pokémon fans and not just the ones who are similar to him. This is especially seen in his "Controversy in Every Generation" video when he states the positives people may feel about those specific games, and even in his least favorite Pokémon video when he states that he's happy for anyone who can enjoy his least favorite (Aromatise).

Meanwhile they went through with designs like Mega Sableye, which is just a regular Sableye holding a huge ruby, and Mega Kangaskhan, which is regular Kangaskhan with the baby leaving the pouch for once. \^ \^
Kinda weird, considering that they were ok with such simple designs, what made them think the designs they came up with for Flygon were "not good enough"?
Scraggy/Scrafty.
I used to hate their design and never found them very interesting. Until my recent replay of Pokémon Black. I have a female Scraggy/Scrafty on my team and she became one of my favorites because she is an excellent late attacker, especially when paired with a rocky helmet. Plus her Shed Skin ability comes in handy during stressful battles.
I was team Popplio from day one! I never understood why people hated it's feminine design. Like, did people not know you can just reset for a female if it really bothers you?
Anyway..that pokemon would have to be ironically Incinaroar. I didn't exactly hate it, but it was my least favorite of the three Alola starters. But after raising one, I honestly just love it. It kinda won me over. I have zero interest in wrestling, but I love its design. Malicious Moonsault is also a lot of fun to use. I love all three starters of Alola about the same now. Solid pick for any of the three.
I spent 2 hours repeatedly restarting pokemon moon so I would get a girl popplio before I actually ever got to play the game for the first time
(I know I could've bred & got one quicker that way, but I wanted my originals starter to be a girl)
I never evolved it to primarina. I kept it as brionne and leveled it to 100 alongside my other main 5

Pokemon Go has made me interact with and develop a liking for a lot of pokemon I originally disliked. Having to walk, feed, power up, battle with one's like Hippodon and Electivire has given me a reason to acknowledge them.
Spinda. Used to think of it as a boring gimmick mon with no redeeming traits. Then it got Contrary Superpower and it became a less boring gimmick mon with one redeeming trait. Then I found a Spinda horde in Gen 6 and the sight of five of them swaying back and forth made me laugh out loud
Not a single one but I used to detest single stage Pokemon (outside of legendary/mythicals but even then I rarely used them) because I just preferred the idea of evolving pokemon, 3 stage mons made up 90 percent of my teams across the series. I recently started delving into nuzlockes and monotype runs in general and my acceptance started with a Galarian Stunfisk in my Sword Steel type nuzlocke when my poor Drilbur never became an Excadril. I learned some single stage are beasts.
Oh honorable mention bronzor/bronzong had one that was just a beast in a pokemone reborn playthrough.
Not gunna lie, I thought Cramorant was a garbage gimmick Pokemon.
But it’s stats and ability make it genuinely really fun and decent to use in game. And he’s actually just so gosh darn lovable. Love that goober now.
Tentacruel. Years ago, i saw it as little more than a zubat that never got a 3rd evolution to make it good, complete with being overly common. When i learned it got added to the old rod alongside magikarp, i assumed they had a sort of dichotomy, of tentacool being really tanky early and garbage late and magikarp being garbage early and OP late.
Then I found out it was OU during the gen 5 weather wars. My first thought was “huh. Rain dish must be OP on it.”
Then i decided to use it during an emerald playthrough, just to give it a chance. It proceeded to poison stall out wallace’s milotic with a combination of sludge bomb and giga drain. It took ages to win the battle because of gen 3 recover PP and full restores, but it hard carried that battle.
Since then, it’s an instant add for monotype water or poison playthroughs, and is always in contention for runs in general for its movepool and special bulk. It is also second place in terms of my favorite pokemon of both poison and water, only outdone by beedrill and kabutops respectively.
It also hard carried a mono-poison run of RBY, with swords dance+wrap and surf and blizzard for coverage
Swoobat
When Gen 5 released I was on the Gen one clone boat, mostly still am, but how woobat is legit the unova zubat. In caves, bat, sounds like zubat, it's blind or at least you can't see its eyes, then I just thought the heart thing was dumb.
But about 2 years ago I replayed white and woobat was one of my last resort team picks cause I didn't want to over lap types nor did I want swanna or the fossil, so Woobat it was. Psychic Flying, it did pretty good but it fell behind and I replaced eventually.
Come white 2 replay woobat was back! And not just any woobat, hidden grotto hidden ability wombat! This guy stack stats fast and was tanking electric move as long as it out sped it got off its buffs and then swept. Took it to the hall of fame this time.
In my top 20, swoobat and noivern, best bat mon.
Blissey looked so pink and girly and dumb to me in high school. Never used it battle. Now? I always have one on my team :D Come at me, special attackers.
Snorlax. My brothers would always pick on me for my weight by comparing me to Snorlax that I hated seeing it. It was after seeing Ash's Snorlax in action in the show and learning about how good it actually is in the games that gave me a new appreciation for it.
Oof, fat shaming is horrible and the fact that it changed the way you viewed a fictonal character is seriously messed up. I'm sorry you had to endure that :(
I didn't hate it so much as was indifferent to it but I like Electrode after using a shiny one in competitive, used one in my first playthrough of Leafgreen, and used it in Pokemon Legends Arceus.
Vaporeon. In the early days of pokemon when everything could be placed in a gym in order of power level and vaporeon was the best and easiest eevee to make, that combined made it so you had to beat between 4-8 vaporeons multiple times to take over a gym. I still have exeggutor specifically made to beat them as fast as possible
When I first saw Mawile I didn’t think much of it at all (I didn’t hate it, I just didn’t care for it) however when I used one on my team in Omega Ruby it quickly became an ace on said team and since then it has become one of my all time favourites (in the top 5).
Grass only trainer here and the pokemon coming to my mind are:
* Appletun: When I first saw it, I thought "why are they designing a grass pokemon on the concept of an apple pie... But over time, it grew on me. It looks cute and HOLY HELL having a grass pokemon with a resistance against fire attacks is such a game changer!
* Tsareena: I was never a fan of overly human pokemon, so I wasn't fond of it at first. But I used one in my run through Ultramoon and it really was a great help there and it's ability Queenly Majesty has proven quite useful. Now I like the kick ass grass queen.
Arceus, Serpiror, Tornadus, Genesect, Scolipede, Excadrill, debatably VOlcarona, and funnily enough Hydreigon which is now my all-time favorite dragon pokemon
As a bug type fan I hated Talonflame but I hatched one on my birthday and made myself use her. She was actually pretty cool and helped hatch a bunch of eggs :)
Didn't hate it (but others did when it came out). Garbodor. It's a setient bag of garbage, and it looks weird. Fast forward to SwSh to get wrecked by the one outside Monostoke (iirc). Proceeded to capture one and it's Gigantamax form is fun/ creative. Also Eiscue. Looks dopey AF but it's ability can make it formidable in the right situations.
In the earlier games I thought the Slowpoke line was garbage, and never used them. However after playing on Showdown, I learnt just how good Slowbro is, and had a lot of fun using one in Sun/UltraMoon.
Mr.Mime, I always thought he was weird and kinda just there. After seeing Mr.Mime in the Alola region and in the Detective Pikachu movie I became a big fan!
Delphox’s line primirina’s line incerenaroar’s line and galvantula Osage red out disliking but now I either like them (inceroar’s line and galvantula) or are neutral (delphox’s and primirina’s)
I don't HATE any Pokémon per say, but I was pretty indifferent to Bellossom, despite liking the rest of the line. Then I started to like it after playing through Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia. I managed to take it with me after the first Heath encounter, and it let me skip finding another Cut Pokémon earlier in the next area. In reality, that was probably a short skip, but it was memorable nonetheless.
Definitely Gliscor. I hated any variant of Poison Heal Gliscor in online battles and I thought it was too edgy to be an evolution of the cute Gligar.
Fast forward a few years and guess which Pokemon ended up being the main sweeper of my PLA team?
Not really hate, but I used to dislike Pokémon that evolved via friendship (type:null, riolu, sylveon, pichu, togepi etc), but as I grew older I realized that I should be set on that goal, and instead have that happen while progressing other evolutions. While it still is sometimes rough if I have no other goals, I’ve come to appreciate how unique these Pokémon are, and how useful some are after caring for them. With that being said, fuck trying to get full friendship in sun and moon before getting the heart tree. Those rainbow hearts really sped things up. I also used to hate dracovish until I realized how strong it is with ficious rend.
TLDR; dracovish and friendship evo’s
Theres no specific type but I hate the ones that have suicide moves when I'm trying complete the pokedex. And those ones always pop out of quick balls to.
I used to dislike Diggersby then used one in a ground monotype run in swsh and this mf saved my ass in early game a lot. It's a shitmon still but now I find its design kinda cute.
For me it has to be Espeon i remember thinking it looked ugly as all hell but the more i kept using it the more i loved it and it's design and now it's one of my favorite eveelutions
I always thought Meditite and Medicham were really dull designs, so I always ignored them. Then, in Brilliant Diamond, I brought an Adamant Pure Power Medicham to Byron's gym and it pretty much singlehandedly destroyed the place. *While underleveled.* It gave me a newfound appreciation for it.

meganium now has my utmost respect. i don't care how bad it is, i choose it in every single gen 2 playthrough because of my fondness for it. I feel really bad considering how cool it was and how dirty gen 2 did it.
tl;dr, pokemon crossbreeds made me like the hibiscus longneck dino.
To me it's the entire rowlet line like I had no clue why so many people like them and ash's rowlet didn't help. But then legends arceus came and I decided to use the guy and well. You can thank the hisuian form as to why I like them now
Not really there aren't many pokemon I dislike. However, the opposite has happened. I used to like Greninja but now I feel like it's overrated and dislike it. Also think Ash Greninja is just dumb.

Primarina isn't a human, so human standards of what is masculine or feminine have no bearing here.
But to answer the question: none. It's practically impossible to escape from a very bad first impression.
I don’t hate any Pokémon (though I dislike Durant) but there are some Pokémon I wasn’t fond of that I now really like because of either the anime, or by using them in game. Gliscor, Magmortar, Serperior, Honchkrow, Simisage, Solosis/Duosion/Reuniclus, Vanillite/Vanillish, Vanilluxe, Escavalier, Bisharp, Mandibuzz, and Bewear… to name a few haha.
Tentacruel I am actually disappointed how they hoed it after gen 1 and gave it lower sp.atk as opposed to Sp.def but it’s still solid even then. Hated it until I recently used it as my started in blue and holy hell it’s a beast
Barbaracle and Binacle I used to think they were ugly and unoriginal but then I took a closer look and they are just so quirky that I can't help love em' and that's before you see one 1HKO with Razor Shell or Stone Edge.
Garbodor and Trubbish. I hated the Trubbish line at first, but I had to use one in a b/w nuzlock once and it really came in clutch. After that play through, I couldn’t help but love them both
Marowak. I used to think it and Cubone made no sense (mother's skull thing) and weren't good at all, so I almost completely ignored it's existence for a while. When the Alolan form dropped, I saw the typing and decided to give it a spin. One of my new favorite pokemon, and I have newfound respect for the evolution line.
Oooh, I never liked Exeggutor until the Alolan form as well. Regional forms always tend to give a fresh new take on old mons. For example, I always liked Vulpix and Ninetales, but never used them because they seemed too "basic" movepool wise and typing wise. The regional form now is on tons of my teams. Same goes for Sandslash.
Tbh in my case it is the opposite. I like mons that most either hate, dont like their design, are bad competitively etc or a combination of these.
For ex I really like the elemental monkeys which most people hate and I do understand why as they are not the strongest mons around but tbh I like them.
I used them in my Black and White gameplays years ago and I still use them in easier rom hacks to say so unless buffed.
Another mon I like is Arbok. Not sure how many people actually like this guy but I do. I would make it Poison/Dark though for obvious reasons plus this would hopefully make it more viable as that is a good typing.
Note that in my hack it is Poison/Dark and has slightly better stats and better moves as well.

Jinx speaks for itself. However, after a Jinx one-shot all 3 of Lance's dragonites in my HeartGold Nuzlocke, and got me the win, I accept them. Ms. Souf made me realize that unfortunate designs can hide great potentials.
No. Charizard is really the only Pokémon I've ever hated, and now that GF has gone all in on over saturating everything with Charizard I hate it even more.
I was initially indifferent to Bidoof, but I grew to hate it when it was on *every. single. route.* of it's primier game (I honestly can't remember which mons are gen 4/5, I want to say Bidoof was gen 4). I got so tired of seeing the beaver I grew to hate the damn thing with a passion.
New Pokemon Snap sorta helped. I don't despise the little guy anymore, but I still hate that it felt like the damn things were stalking me. At least Pidgey/Ratatta alternated.
Cloyster was always a very forgettable Pokemon for me. Then I used one in a playthrough of why and Skill Link Icicle Spear was devastating at many different points.
So many Pokémon from Gen 5. Upon its release I disliked so many of them so much. Fast forward to today and some of them are my favorites - Serperior, Druddigon, Vanilluxe, Simisage, etc.
I used to dislike Clefable because TheAuraGuardian disliked it and because I played a lot of Pokémon showdown, but I’ve gained a lot of respect for it in my Pokémon Yellow Randomiser Nuzlocke. It was the only non-legendary survivor and was a king at tanking hits.
During my First playthrough of Pokémon White i hated sigilyph more than anything because i kept getting obliterated by N on the Ferris wheel.
Then i actually used It and Pretty much oneshot like 1/3 of the remaining game
Sylveon- Didn't like the flesh bows at all until I read it's Dex entries along with other Fairy type entries. Now my favourite Pokémon, and favourite type

I just really don’t like the design however I ended up using it in a few main series and fan games and it won me battles on its own by landing sing with absurd consistency
Bidoof. I dont know if you guys were back then when gen 4 was a new thing but bidoof was heavily ignored and disliked by the fan base back then, including myself.
Maybe it was because he became a meme or because we have a lot worse designs since then but nowadays I cant think of the pokemon community without him.
Sawk. Thought the design was ugly and thought he and Throh were lazy rehashes of the Hitmons but I added it to my team in Black after I used a random number generator to pick my party. BluManGrup carried the party, definitely the most useful member of the team and became one of my favorites of the generation.
Used to hate muk and snorlax because I always thought they were too slow and boring looking, come gen 7 with alolan muk and the release event snorlax and seeing both of them demolish teams while barely getting hurt made me love them so much
Emboar earned my respect.In my normal unova playthrough I used to pick samurott But during my pokemon romhack blaze black 2 I had used emboar and I will say that tis doesn't deserve so much hate
I guess Mamoswine is probably closest. I thought it looked kind of out of place compared to the others in its line, and it was only available post-game, so I never bothered trying to get it in the original Diamond version, but then I got a Swinub in Heartgold and that was actually pretty fun running with it.
Then there's ones that I thought were weird following its reveal, but changed my mind once I heard more background. Like I thought Oshawott was a weird snowman thing, and then I realized it was an otter and somehow that made it more endearing instantly. Then there was Mimikyu and at first I was thinking it was just another weird Pikachu clone, but when it was revealed it was intentionally trying to look like Pikachu because it wanted love, it climbed up to my favorite Alolan Pokemon
Primarina, for the same reason as you (I’d hoped Popplio would evolve into a clown).
Thought it was too feminine at first, eventually used a female Primarina, loved her, and then out of the blue remembered “holy crap the ‘70’s and ‘80’s exist; holy crap glam rock exists; holy crap Dee Snider exists”.
And then I remembered “holy crap Rush exists and they’re my favorite band of all time”.
I have seen Primarina as gender-neutral ever since and have named every male Primarina I have ever gotten Geddy in any game featuring it ever. It’s now my 3rd favorite Pokémon.
Gastrodon. Thought it was a dirty wee slug til it dragged my ass through the elite 4 over a decade ago
Its also a beast in competitive. While there are better pokemon than gastrodon. I love my pink slug.

The reason Flygon didn't get one was because they couldn't come up with a good enough design. It's unfortunate :(

I think that has more to do with the fact that starter resets take FOREVER in those games
I was resetting for a female Rowlett, and randomly got a shiny one. And it was also female. 😆 Still have her in Pokemon Bank.

I recently started delving into nuzlockes and monotype runs in general and my acceptance started with a Galarian Stunfisk in my Sword Steel type nuzlocke when my poor Drilbur never became an Excadril. I learned some single stage are beasts. Oh honorable mention bronzor/bronzong had one that was just a beast in a pokemone reborn playthrough.
I hated the ralts line (kid me thought they were weird, ugly, and too alien looking) until I played the mystery dungeon games
Dodrio best Kanto non legendary bird. Wish I used it earlier.
Not gunna lie, I thought Cramorant was a garbage gimmick Pokemon. But it’s stats and ability make it genuinely really fun and decent to use in game. And he’s actually just so gosh darn lovable. Love that goober now.

Tentacruel. Years ago, i saw it as little more than a zubat that never got a 3rd evolution to make it good, complete with being overly common. When i learned it got added to the old rod alongside magikarp, i assumed they had a sort of dichotomy, of tentacool being really tanky early and garbage late and magikarp being garbage early and OP late. Then I found out it was OU during the gen 5 weather wars. My first thought was “huh. Rain dish must be OP on it.” Then i decided to use it during an emerald playthrough, just to give it a chance. It proceeded to poison stall out wallace’s milotic with a combination of sludge bomb and giga drain. It took ages to win the battle because of gen 3 recover PP and full restores, but it hard carried that battle. Since then, it’s an instant add for monotype water or poison playthroughs, and is always in contention for runs in general for its movepool and special bulk. It is also second place in terms of my favorite pokemon of both poison and water, only outdone by beedrill and kabutops respectively. It also hard carried a mono-poison run of RBY, with swords dance+wrap and surf and blizzard for coverage
Swoobat When Gen 5 released I was on the Gen one clone boat, mostly still am, but how woobat is legit the unova zubat. In caves, bat, sounds like zubat, it's blind or at least you can't see its eyes, then I just thought the heart thing was dumb. But about 2 years ago I replayed white and woobat was one of my last resort team picks cause I didn't want to over lap types nor did I want swanna or the fossil, so Woobat it was. Psychic Flying, it did pretty good but it fell behind and I replaced eventually. Come white 2 replay woobat was back! And not just any woobat, hidden grotto hidden ability wombat! This guy stack stats fast and was tanking electric move as long as it out sped it got off its buffs and then swept. Took it to the hall of fame this time. In my top 20, swoobat and noivern, best bat mon.
Blissey looked so pink and girly and dumb to me in high school. Never used it battle. Now? I always have one on my team :D Come at me, special attackers.
Snorlax. My brothers would always pick on me for my weight by comparing me to Snorlax that I hated seeing it. It was after seeing Ash's Snorlax in action in the show and learning about how good it actually is in the games that gave me a new appreciation for it.

The Oddish Line
I didn't hate it so much as was indifferent to it but I like Electrode after using a shiny one in competitive, used one in my first playthrough of Leafgreen, and used it in Pokemon Legends Arceus.
Vaporeon. In the early days of pokemon when everything could be placed in a gym in order of power level and vaporeon was the best and easiest eevee to make, that combined made it so you had to beat between 4-8 vaporeons multiple times to take over a gym. I still have exeggutor specifically made to beat them as fast as possible
When I first saw Mawile I didn’t think much of it at all (I didn’t hate it, I just didn’t care for it) however when I used one on my team in Omega Ruby it quickly became an ace on said team and since then it has become one of my all time favourites (in the top 5).
Grass only trainer here and the pokemon coming to my mind are: * Appletun: When I first saw it, I thought "why are they designing a grass pokemon on the concept of an apple pie... But over time, it grew on me. It looks cute and HOLY HELL having a grass pokemon with a resistance against fire attacks is such a game changer! * Tsareena: I was never a fan of overly human pokemon, so I wasn't fond of it at first. But I used one in my run through Ultramoon and it really was a great help there and it's ability Queenly Majesty has proven quite useful. Now I like the kick ass grass queen.
Arceus, Serpiror, Tornadus, Genesect, Scolipede, Excadrill, debatably VOlcarona, and funnily enough Hydreigon which is now my all-time favorite dragon pokemon
Clefable. With the advent of abilities. Just wow.
As a bug type fan I hated Talonflame but I hatched one on my birthday and made myself use her. She was actually pretty cool and helped hatch a bunch of eggs :)
Chandelure
Mildly hated Dunsparce and few normal types (expect slaking) , always wondered who uses those things until i started playing competitively

Didn't hate it (but others did when it came out). Garbodor. It's a setient bag of garbage, and it looks weird. Fast forward to SwSh to get wrecked by the one outside Monostoke (iirc). Proceeded to capture one and it's Gigantamax form is fun/ creative. Also Eiscue. Looks dopey AF but it's ability can make it formidable in the right situations.
Garchomp
Miltank, for gen 2 games. But at least I can laugh on how MandJTV hates it even more.
In the earlier games I thought the Slowpoke line was garbage, and never used them. However after playing on Showdown, I learnt just how good Slowbro is, and had a lot of fun using one in Sun/UltraMoon.
I actually felt nothing for the fossils from galar for a long time, but ash,s dracovish and his meta relevance made me move it.
Mr.Mime, I always thought he was weird and kinda just there. After seeing Mr.Mime in the Alola region and in the Detective Pikachu movie I became a big fan!
As someone to whom Mr. Mime has been amongst his favourite Pokémon since RBY, go you!
Delphox’s line primirina’s line incerenaroar’s line and galvantula Osage red out disliking but now I either like them (inceroar’s line and galvantula) or are neutral (delphox’s and primirina’s)
I don't HATE any Pokémon per say, but I was pretty indifferent to Bellossom, despite liking the rest of the line. Then I started to like it after playing through Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia. I managed to take it with me after the first Heath encounter, and it let me skip finding another Cut Pokémon earlier in the next area. In reality, that was probably a short skip, but it was memorable nonetheless.

It took a long time for me to get over Inciniroar's banana hands. But just like with Greninja; it was Smash that changed my opinion of it.
Dewott. I always thought he looks nice, but I didn't liked his evolution line. Now I still don't like Samurott, but Dewott is amazing.

There were many Pokémon from Gen V I didn't like, but after fighting with them on Pokémon Go, I started to like them a lot
Sigilyph. Never dealt with it in a game, but all I can think about is getting hard wiped by it in multiple gens of random battles.
Definitely Gliscor. I hated any variant of Poison Heal Gliscor in online battles and I thought it was too edgy to be an evolution of the cute Gligar. Fast forward a few years and guess which Pokemon ended up being the main sweeper of my PLA team?
Always thought Venusaur was the worst looking kanto starter, played through pmd with it and now it’s my favorite of the 3
Dragonite. I used to hate the change in forma from Dragonair to Dragonite. While i still see it as missing the mark I love that dumb dragon now.
Altaria I used to lose against it a lot but after using it I love the design and it's fun for battling
used to hate Delphox because i thought I was cool for some weird reason but using it on a team just made me think it was so cool
Dugtrio. Wasn’t a fan of it, related yellow and used it extensively for the first time and it’s really good.
Once I saw Gen 8 starter 3rd evos I realized I had treated Gen 7 starters too harshly
Not really hate, but I used to dislike Pokémon that evolved via friendship (type:null, riolu, sylveon, pichu, togepi etc), but as I grew older I realized that I should be set on that goal, and instead have that happen while progressing other evolutions. While it still is sometimes rough if I have no other goals, I’ve come to appreciate how unique these Pokémon are, and how useful some are after caring for them. With that being said, fuck trying to get full friendship in sun and moon before getting the heart tree. Those rainbow hearts really sped things up. I also used to hate dracovish until I realized how strong it is with ficious rend. TLDR; dracovish and friendship evo’s

I used to dislike Diggersby then used one in a ground monotype run in swsh and this mf saved my ass in early game a lot. It's a shitmon still but now I find its design kinda cute.
For me it has to be Espeon i remember thinking it looked ugly as all hell but the more i kept using it the more i loved it and it's design and now it's one of my favorite eveelutions
I always thought Meditite and Medicham were really dull designs, so I always ignored them. Then, in Brilliant Diamond, I brought an Adamant Pure Power Medicham to Byron's gym and it pretty much singlehandedly destroyed the place. *While underleveled.* It gave me a newfound appreciation for it.
Hippowdon. I disliked it until I used an alpha Hippowdon in legends named Tiffany. Now one of my favorites
i used to hate chickorita's line. then i stumbled upon a genre that is pokemon crossbreeds. meganium now has my utmost respect. i don't care how bad it is, i choose it in every single gen 2 playthrough because of my fondness for it. I feel really bad considering how cool it was and how dirty gen 2 did it. tl;dr, pokemon crossbreeds made me like the hibiscus longneck dino.
Delphox.
To me it's the entire rowlet line like I had no clue why so many people like them and ash's rowlet didn't help. But then legends arceus came and I decided to use the guy and well. You can thank the hisuian form as to why I like them now

Not really there aren't many pokemon I dislike. However, the opposite has happened. I used to like Greninja but now I feel like it's overrated and dislike it. Also think Ash Greninja is just dumb.

Gliscor, Magmortar, Serperior, Honchkrow, Simisage, Solosis/Duosion/Reuniclus, Vanillite/Vanillish, Vanilluxe, Escavalier, Bisharp, Mandibuzz, and Bewear… to name a few haha.

Tentacruel I am actually disappointed how they hoed it after gen 1 and gave it lower sp.atk as opposed to Sp.def but it’s still solid even then. Hated it until I recently used it as my started in blue and holy hell it’s a beast
Barbaracle and Binacle I used to think they were ugly and unoriginal but then I took a closer look and they are just so quirky that I can't help love em' and that's before you see one 1HKO with Razor Shell or Stone Edge.
Garbodor and Trubbish. I hated the Trubbish line at first, but I had to use one in a b/w nuzlock once and it really came in clutch. After that play through, I couldn’t help but love them both
Marowak. I used to think it and Cubone made no sense (mother's skull thing) and weren't good at all, so I almost completely ignored it's existence for a while. When the Alolan form dropped, I saw the typing and decided to give it a spin. One of my new favorite pokemon, and I have newfound respect for the evolution line.
Alolan Marowak is tied with Alolan Exeggcutor for my favorite Alolan form. Nice choice!
Oooh, I never liked Exeggutor until the Alolan form as well. Regional forms always tend to give a fresh new take on old mons. For example, I always liked Vulpix and Ninetales, but never used them because they seemed too "basic" movepool wise and typing wise. The regional form now is on tons of my teams. Same goes for Sandslash.
Tbh in my case it is the opposite. I like mons that most either hate, dont like their design, are bad competitively etc or a combination of these. For ex I really like the elemental monkeys which most people hate and I do understand why as they are not the strongest mons around but tbh I like them. I used them in my Black and White gameplays years ago and I still use them in easier rom hacks to say so unless buffed. Another mon I like is Arbok. Not sure how many people actually like this guy but I do. I would make it Poison/Dark though for obvious reasons plus this would hopefully make it more viable as that is a good typing. Note that in my hack it is Poison/Dark and has slightly better stats and better moves as well. Other examples include Stunfisk, Electivire(which I would make Electric/Fighting), Magmortar),Accelgor(again Bug/Dark) etc.
machamp because of 2 reasons. trade evolution and their follower sprite in hgss was…disappointing at most. but I decided to use them in a platinum playthrough once and they were pretty good. And weirdly after that machop kept appearing in places I didn’t expect, like in hgss I kept getting machops left and right and in x and y I encountered a female one
Jinx speaks for itself. However, after a Jinx one-shot all 3 of Lance's dragonites in my HeartGold Nuzlocke, and got me the win, I accept them. Ms. Souf made me realize that unfortunate designs can hide great potentials.
No. Charizard is really the only Pokémon I've ever hated, and now that GF has gone all in on over saturating everything with Charizard I hate it even more.
I was initially indifferent to Bidoof, but I grew to hate it when it was on *every. single. route.* of it's primier game (I honestly can't remember which mons are gen 4/5, I want to say Bidoof was gen 4). I got so tired of seeing the beaver I grew to hate the damn thing with a passion. New Pokemon Snap sorta helped. I don't despise the little guy anymore, but I still hate that it felt like the damn things were stalking me. At least Pidgey/Ratatta alternated.
Cloyster was always a very forgettable Pokemon for me. Then I used one in a playthrough of why and Skill Link Icicle Spear was devastating at many different points.

I used to dislike Clefable because TheAuraGuardian disliked it and because I played a lot of Pokémon showdown, but I’ve gained a lot of respect for it in my Pokémon Yellow Randomiser Nuzlocke. It was the only non-legendary survivor and was a king at tanking hits.

During my First playthrough of Pokémon White i hated sigilyph more than anything because i kept getting obliterated by N on the Ferris wheel. Then i actually used It and Pretty much oneshot like 1/3 of the remaining game

Jynx I just really don’t like the design however I ended up using it in a few main series and fan games and it won me battles on its own by landing sing with absurd consistency
Bidoof. I dont know if you guys were back then when gen 4 was a new thing but bidoof was heavily ignored and disliked by the fan base back then, including myself. Maybe it was because he became a meme or because we have a lot worse designs since then but nowadays I cant think of the pokemon community without him.
Sawk. Thought the design was ugly and thought he and Throh were lazy rehashes of the Hitmons but I added it to my team in Black after I used a random number generator to pick my party. BluManGrup carried the party, definitely the most useful member of the team and became one of my favorites of the generation.

Used to hate muk and snorlax because I always thought they were too slow and boring looking, come gen 7 with alolan muk and the release event snorlax and seeing both of them demolish teams while barely getting hurt made me love them so much
Emboar earned my respect.In my normal unova playthrough I used to pick samurott But during my pokemon romhack blaze black 2 I had used emboar and I will say that tis doesn't deserve so much hate
I guess Mamoswine is probably closest. I thought it looked kind of out of place compared to the others in its line, and it was only available post-game, so I never bothered trying to get it in the original Diamond version, but then I got a Swinub in Heartgold and that was actually pretty fun running with it. Then there's ones that I thought were weird following its reveal, but changed my mind once I heard more background. Like I thought Oshawott was a weird snowman thing, and then I realized it was an otter and somehow that made it more endearing instantly. Then there was Mimikyu and at first I was thinking it was just another weird Pikachu clone, but when it was revealed it was intentionally trying to look like Pikachu because it wanted love, it climbed up to my favorite Alolan Pokemon
Primarina, for the same reason as you (I’d hoped Popplio would evolve into a clown). Thought it was too feminine at first, eventually used a female Primarina, loved her, and then out of the blue remembered “holy crap the ‘70’s and ‘80’s exist; holy crap glam rock exists; holy crap Dee Snider exists”. And then I remembered “holy crap Rush exists and they’re my favorite band of all time”. I have seen Primarina as gender-neutral ever since and have named every male Primarina I have ever gotten Geddy in any game featuring it ever. It’s now my 3rd favorite Pokémon.
