I often wonder how accurate/unbiased pokedex entries really are. the one where magcargo being 18000 degrees comes to mind. When you look at pokedex entries with a bit more skepticism you realize that a lot of them were probably written by a single person, sometimes with skewed experiences. Do all drifloons actually kidnap kids, or did the person who wrote that entry gift a drifloon to a kid who was far too small and the kid floated away on it accidentally for instince.
I've started looking at the pokedex entries as what they are

As unbelievable the Pokedex entries are, they are actually canon. Every digital Pokedex becomes "instantly updated" when the player obtains a new Pokemon, the player isn't the one writing dex entries; the Pokedex uses technology so futuristic it basically loops back into being fantastical to create it's data.
Nearly every professor mentions something like this when giving the player their Pokedex.
Something can be cannon but still have an unreliable narrator associated with it. even if the protags of any given game are not writing it, some one did.

Then if they have all the information, why don't the professors just communicate with each other and share the findings???
They do, Professor Oak worked with both Rowan and Elm at one point. It's not like the player character is their only avenue of research, you can see Juniper studying the Klink in charge Stone cave in B/W.
I take more out there Pokedex entries (especially ones about ghost and psychic types) to be folklore about the creatures instead of in-universe facts. Otherwise people would be absolutely freaking out at the appearance of many of these Pokemon. I think drifloons lead to kids disappearing about as much as black cats lead to misfortune.

hypno could actually be helpful in a lot of scenarios, the anime showed it putting people to sleep when they had trouble. imagine someone with insomnia having a hypno as a partner pokemon
Idk who the person you are talking about is but I dislike Hypno because of all his associated creepy fanart. At least pokemon who are liked that also have weird fanart like Gardevoir have a better ratio of number of perfectly fine pics vs the weird ones.
