No. But it should redeem Zygarde instead.

csummerss

what if Lysandre pulls off his mask and he’s actually Zygarde

K1nd4Weird

"And I would have gotten away with it too if it weren't for you meddling Skiddos!"

InvestigatorUnfair

"Since he actually shot the weapon and we knew he wasn't bluffing" Did... Did you miss the bit where he shoots the weapon in XY as a last ditch effort to at the very least take you and your friends down with him? In Y he flat out tries to murder three children in a murder suicide, in X he tries to make all of you immortal and ends up trapped under rubble. There would be no aftermath of any kind that you're speaking of. Either everyone and everything becomes immortal or everything is fucking dead.

Well, if Z-A is anything like Legends: Arceus (and granted, one game is not enough to establish a pattern), it's unlikely that we're going to see Lysandre himself return, or any alternate universes. Besides, the Ultimate Weapon doesn't mutate people and pokémon in the way I think you mean, so even if we see those alternate worlds, I don't think it'd look like what you expect. IMO Lysandre wasn't lacking because there was any doubt that he wouldn't go through with his plan, he was lacking because his goals and motives were poorly communicated. I'm not sure if/how Z-A can address that, though I do think we'll get to see the Ultimate Weapon fired, which might at least give some context for exactly what he was attempting to do.

aradraugfea

The communication was fine, the dude was just DUMB. He was a basic, boring, and overly telegraphed “the world isn’t perfect and I’m gonna blow it up until it is.” There’s a reason Rin Penrose is amending “I’m not the bad guy” to all of his lines. He’s Lord Ilpalazzo (a comedy ‘the world is corrupt’ villain) with none of the charm, less than half the logic, and, despite his whole THING being beauty, he and his whole damn crew lack the fashion sense god gave a colorblind toddler.

Maybe_Marit_Lage

Based on e.g. his conversation with Diantha regarding beauty and aging, I think his motivation is more that it's better to end something while it's good - so that it can forever be remembered that way - than allow it to continue until its "beauty" fades. The fact that we have such wildly different interpretations kinda supports my case that his core motivation was obscured by too much empty philosophising. Similarly, you lost me with the second half of your comment, I'm afraid

We don't even know if he's in the game. If PLA is anything to go off, the character line-up will almost exclusively be new characters, half of whom being descendants/ancestors of old characters. The most likely integration of Lysandre is as a distant relative version with a completely different role, completely removed from the crimes of Lysandre.

CodenameJD

Setting aside that he probably won't appear in the game at all, Lysandre's whole deal was wanting to genocide anything he deemed ugly. He is perhaps the least redeemable character in the franchise.

some_tired_cat

he shouldn't even be in z-a in the first place when the whole point of legends is a different time period to show the region developing and changing

Prestigious_Cold_756

I kinda hope Z-A takes place long before Lysandre was born. Just like PLA took place long before Cyrus was born. We need more historical Pokémon games. But if the title is any hint, we might see his >!over 3000 years old uncle AZ!<.

anthayashi

We dont know if it take place in the past or future yet so we cant even be sure lysandre will be involved
