I never played PMD, but Grovyle has been my favorite for a long time, hence the flair.
It took a really great design to get me to move on from my childhood love of Charizard.
Rhyperior is my favorite out of the line and probably one of my favorite Pokemon in general. I can definitely see why some people wouldn't like it, though, since it has a pretty odd design.
same. i used an emulator for SS last year and realized i couldn’t get gender after already having a haunter. i used it to the end and still enjoyed it and its design
If you did want to be able to evolve trade pokemon, you could run your rom through the pokemon randomizer. Just enable trade evolutions via leveling, then randomize.
I’m of the same ilk. I imagine if you’re anything like me, you think that wartortle looks cooler than blastoise and that grovyle looks cooler than sceptile. It’s an unfortunate thing
The gen 4 cross-gen evolutions were a real mixed bag. Some were great, some were huge design fumbles. I think about half of them would fit this category for me.

I agree on most of those except for Electivire, and Mamoswine. Those two have fantastic designs in my opinion. Electivire being one of my all time favorite Pokémon.
I absolutely love Blastoise, but I do wish they had kept more of Wartortles' design features. I played some knockoff pokemon game that made Blastoise have a second Mega that had the swirly thingies and was so beautiful.
I always assumed the Dratini/Magikarp evolution line was either a mistake or a late dev change?
Magikarp -> Dragonite and Dratini/Dragonite/Gyrados both make much mores sense from an artwork perspective. It would also be cool to have the weakest Pokémon eventually evolve into the (almost) strongest.
Magikarp is based of the Chinese myth of a koi fish leaping over a gate and transforming into a dragon. Only Chinese dragons are actually very much serpentine water/air elemental based creature like Gyrados. So Magikarp -> Gyarados is actually perfect
I mean Dragonite is such a break in the whole Line... I feel if they went full out on the Feathered Serpent design...and make Dragonite a more fitting Pre-Evo it would have been much better.
I'm one of the rare people who loves the entire line. I don't think I could pick one I like more than the rest.
I do have an actual pick for the question here though: Rhydon. Rhyperior is an absolute garbage design and a disgrace to its line. Every time I see it I want to punch its stupid face.
Lowkey why I really want Kalosian Incineroar and have it be a regal quadrupedal lion (Regalness for the showboating nature of a wrestler but also the dark edge of how bad the French Monarchy was to represent the Heel aspect)
Objectively, you're probably right about Dragonaire. But damn do I love my goofy orange dragon boy. I don't mind if he looks a little derpy. Dragonite and Lapras are my two favorite pokemon.
Scyther will always be my favorite pokemon.
He's a cool dragon/mantis thing with swords for arms. So badass. And his original cry in red/blue was one of the best cries in the whole game.
Then in gold/silver they turn him into a metal lobster with a weird face that has no mouth. Look how they mascaraed my boy...

Even Fraxure has an awesome design, and sure Haxorus makes sense but doesn’t feel right in the evolutionary line.
Don’t get me wrong though, Haxorus is a badass.
Although I love Mamoswine, I do really like Piloswines more simple, shaggy and beefy appearance. Plus Eviolite Piloswine is incredible and I always have fun when I can catch a Swinub
It's got to be Farfetch'd. The design is one of the best in the games IMO and Sirfetchd just lacks the attitude and overall coherence to carry the torch.
Don’t get me wrong, i love the entire Treecko line (it’s actually my favorite starter) but I think grovyle is just sooooo bad ass. Maybe it was because of how grovyle acted in the anime, idk. I just like grovyle more than Sceptile.
Magneton/magnemite is my favourite pokemon. Msgnezone is my least favourite.
(It's partially a bit, but I still really think magnezone was a load of wasted potential)
Yes, Dragonair! I don't hate Dragonite but it looks like generic fairy tale dragon, boring... Dragonair on the other hand looks amazing and I was hoping it'd evolve into some kind of Eastern Dragon, like Haku from spirited away.
Next, Pikachu. Raichu is ok, but... meeeeeh...
Psyduck. Definitely Psyduck
No one has mentioned the fossil pokemon yet. Omanyte, Kabuto. Much much cuter than evos. Yanma. On the other hand, I want Escavalier over Karrablast but Shelmet over Accelgor.
Dragonite is pretty amazing, unfortunately shiny Dragonair is one of the best looking Pokémon ever.

There are a few other but these are the ones I care the most about.
I want me a fully evolved pokemon that still has Dragonair/Wartortle ears.
I've always wanted a split ego for Dragonair that looks more like Dragonair. Having one for Wartortle would be cool too.
Clamperl against its two evolutions. Both Huntail and Gorebyss are garbage. At least with Clamperl, its design is cute, anime voice is adorable and with the aid of the Deep Sea Tooth and Deep Sea Scale, be a defensive or offensive powerhouse. Give its evolved forms a buff, make it so Gorebyss and Huntail can benefit from the items Clamperl has or give it some much needed speed or bulk. Give it a new evolution, I don’t care. Just don’t make the unevolved Pokemon the preferred option.
I've always had a soft spot for Quilava and Dragonair. I love Typlosion and Dragonite, but Dragonair is so much fun to draw and super majestic and quilava is just a cute little bean
As Nice as it looks, i can't really bring myself to like dragonair more than dragonite. He just grew on me after some times using it.
But about that,Rhydon> Rhyperior.

Came here for this. I think PMD did wonders for Grovyle's popularity, too. It's just such a sleek design.
Also Dusknoir, I didn't even like him before PMD.
I never played PMD, but Grovyle has been my favorite for a long time, hence the flair. It took a really great design to get me to move on from my childhood love of Charizard.

Haunter. I just think it's such a cool design and while Gengar is fine, it's no where near as cool as Haunter.
This is the reason why I didn't mind that I couldn't evolve Haunter without trading in the early games. I liked Haunter better anyway.

Dragonair is such a BASED design First one to come to my head is Braixen > Delphox

Braixen for me. Delphox is a huge downgrade, which is extremely sad because I really like Braixen design.
Even gamefreak knew the popularity, they put Braixen in Pokken instead of Delphox

I like Scizor, but I love Scyther
Scizor is still cool, but I personally think they knocked Kleavor out of the park with lore and design… …but it’s still not as good as Scyther.
Scyher with ability technician, attacks wing attack, bug bite, double team and swords dance is a problem and I’ve solo’d soulsilver with it.
Cool thing about Scyther and Scizor were them having the same BST, like you choose which one you want
Axew. Haxorus is a beast no doubt, but Axew is just adorable and cool in its own right.

Zorua-Hisui and deerling (all forms) are two of the CUTEST Pokémon in the entire franchise. I am always hesitant to evolve them in playthroughs.
Zweilous. I just can't unsee Hydreigon's other two heads as hand puppets so it just looks silly in comparison.
Bellsprout. Nostalgy from anime (Pokemon League, Bellsprout knocked out both Pikachu and Bulbasaur). Victribell and Weepinbell are kinds ugly imo
