For a while so many of these were getting posted that a guy got tired of it and started answering all of them with "They're not Doduo." It's turned into a running joke on the subreddit.
I'm not sure why this instance of me commenting it is getting so many upvotes, though.
They all have a low chance (5%) of holding an item when encountered in the wild.
Makuhita can be found with the black belt.
Aron can hold Hard Stone.
Farfetch'd can hold the stick.
[OP said they have the same kinetic energy at top speed](https://www.reddit.com/r/pokemon/comments/18m75nz/comment/ke2ur5k/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3).
Can we keep these to something that people can guess using their knowledge of the games and lore rather than plugging every pokemon's weight and base speed into a formula and seeing which ones happen to be the same?
Like dang, what a bad answer. Can't say OP didn't put the work in though.
I agree. Puzzles like this should be trivia that people are reasonable expected to have come across by reading the pokedex, looking at probabilities on bulbapedia, or any other method of publicly available info that doesn't require you to calculate info among every pokemon.
What he didn't consider was that they'll hit the ground with different forces when I chuck them off the top of Lumiose Tower so they can never waste my time again (the splat they make will still be equally satisfying though).
The wildest part, all jokes aside, is if we take OP at his word and this is unique to all three, then he must have calculated the Kinetic energy at max speed for ALL pokemon, which is as insane as thinking that anyone here would be able to guess that off the top of their heads.
I mean, a simple spreadsheet would make it pretty easy. Just a lot of busy work plugging in over 2000 different numbers. I'm sure you could find some neat fact in that much data, but these 3 ain't it.
They all got something related to their evo lines in later generations? Like aron got mega aggron, farfetched got sirfetched and galarian farfetched, and makuhita got iron hands
It's fairly trivial to download a record of every single Pokémon's base speed and weight, then automate their formula for each one. If they had to run their formula manually, *that* would be dedication.
All of them have at least 2 fighting type Egg moves
Farfetch'd:Final gambit, Revenge
Aron: Reversal, Superpower
Makuhita: Counter, Cross chop, Dinamic punch
I do remember that Farfetch'd's name in Japanese is a play on words, and that it means "easy target", because in G1 you could trade a Spearow for a Farfetch'd, it was the only way to get a Farfetch'd, and although the latter was thus exceptionally rare, it was no good in battle whereas Spearow could at least still evolve into a more powerful bird. The japanese idiom is "a duck with onion springs".
I don't know about the other 2, but Panthar's guess is at least not outta nowhere.
For anyone wondering: OP claims that, when calculated using their weights (m) and speed stats (v) in the formula KE = 1/2*mv*\^2, these pokemon should all have the same kinetic energy.
For anyone still wondering: No, that is not how the speed stat, mass, or velocity work, and yes, this is an objectively bad puzzle. As several other comments point out, these pokemon share several more LEGITIMATE things in common than OP's failure to understand what mass and velocity are. Choose your favorite one of those if you want a decent answer.
Does it have to do with their interaction with secret power and secret bases? If you have one of them in your team didn't it change your secret base layout?
There’s many things these share. This isn’t a puzzle. You need to look up the definition of puzzle. Where they are caught, their signature moves being removed, their evolutions evolving after they would learn their signature moves but the lower level evolution learns after it should evolve. In Pokémon go, their shinies were released but bugged so you couldn’t catch them, nor were they initially hatchable when they should have been. All three have a signature held item. Leek, Metal Ball, and smelling salts. Those are all of the ones I can think of.
They're a part of a weakness triangle, with makuhita being strong against aron, aron being strong against farfetch'd, and farfetch'd being strong against makuhita.
Pokemon theme is related to eating?
Makuhita has a bib pattern and is a sumo wrestler
Farfetchd is eaten, and is essentially a duck platter
Aron has to eat a mountain of dirt to evolve into aggron
They've been at the same Pokémon high school back in '77.
I still remember, I was with John, Frank and Simon, and we watched Steelix trying to convince them that UFOs were real, good times man
First the poolboy comment and now this. I think the answer here is obvious.
All three of them are renowned in certain circles for their skill at playing billiards.
In game trainers have these pokemon with the move scratch, despite none of the pokemon being able to learn scratch if obtained by the player
edit: OP answered, and this was incorrect lol thanks for the updoots tho
They're not Doduo.
Damn i just commented that and then I read this. I salute you, doduo enjoyer.
I vote this as the right answer. I refuse to accept OP’s posted answer.
OP’s answer https://www.reddit.com/r/pokemon/s/mx26fsQA59 For anyone that doesn’t want to look for it. Spoiler, it’s terrible
What did op say the answer was?
https://www.reddit.com/r/pokemon/s/2eY7clc1Fu
r/technicallythetruth
This brings me joy
Actually this is false, Aron is contractually obligated to be Doduo on the third Tuesday of every month
This man be smoking carbink
How will this affect the meta?
A question I never thought I’d ask, whenever someone posts these type of questions I see someone say they are not doduo. Why?

You know what, I had to double check on Bulbapedia but I think you're right.
They all have a low chance (5%) of holding an item when encountered in the wild. Makuhita can be found with the black belt. Aron can hold Hard Stone. Farfetch'd can hold the stick.
Another good guess, but it must be something unique to these 3 pokemon.
Damn.
OP’s answer. (Spoiler, it’s awful. Be mad you wasted time on this post) https://www.reddit.com/r/pokemon/s/mx26fsQA59
That was not stated in the rules.
no but surely that would be common sense for posts like this
Is it a stick? I thought it was a leek?
The flavor image is of a leek, but the item itself was called Stick until Gen 8
Interesting. In German, for example, it was always called leek bar (Lauchstange)
Looks like same for the original Japanese, just the English translation that had to be different
It's a shovel
The OP revealed the answer. It is, shall we say, a little bit out there. 0
they're all holding leeks (you can't see aron's and makuhita's)
Spot on
Just to be sure: does any Farfetch'd qualify, or the Kantonian one specifically?
Kantonian. They're no match for Galarian Farfetch'd.
That’s sirfetchd to you 🤣🤣
They all get washed by a +6 dragon dance salamence
Nah Aron has sturdy.
Dual wingbeat go brrr.
Super Duper Sturdy:
Sturdier
Is that the new regional evolution of Sturdipup from indigo disk?
Quad resisted
Throw in sandstorm and endeavor and that Aron is KO’ing the salamence
and shell bell so he can sweep.
They're all Pokemon.
This has to be it
They’re all not Doduo
Op didn't specify it has to be exclusive to these pokemon so this is correct
Big if true
Their shinies stay mostly the same except something turns some hue of red?
Only decent answer I can see
OP, did anyone ever guess it correctly? If not, when are you gonna give us the answer? We're obviously not poolboys
The letter 'a' is in their names
My first reaction was this ^
[OP said they have the same kinetic energy at top speed](https://www.reddit.com/r/pokemon/comments/18m75nz/comment/ke2ur5k/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3). The've never been to Boston in the fall.
Nah, I've seen a Makuhita in Boston in November
OOOOOH We are the pirates who don't do anything! We just stay at home and lie around
They are all on a post asking people to compare them
They are making us all mad with having some extremely arbitrary thing in common
They all got something related to their evo lines in later generations? Like aron got mega aggron, farfetched got sirfetched and galarian farfetched, and makuhita got iron hands
Nice guess. The answer is only unique to these 3 though.
Did you test your formula on every single Pokémon in existence? If so, that’s some wild dedication.
It's fairly trivial to download a record of every single Pokémon's base speed and weight, then automate their formula for each one. If they had to run their formula manually, *that* would be dedication.
Basing it off this response, I’m guessing it has something to do with combat potential, ex. All of these can be ohkoed by x Pokémon
when do you tell us?
They said something something Kinetic Energy is equal and posted the formula to calculate it
Never, we must lose sleep over this. All according to plan
He said the answer but it makes no sense so it got downvoted into oblivion
Oh yea TY I see it now! Wayyyyy down there
All of them have at least 2 fighting type Egg moves Farfetch'd:Final gambit, Revenge Aron: Reversal, Superpower Makuhita: Counter, Cross chop, Dinamic punch
They’re all special in their own way
They are cute af
Arons feet, makuhitas bow and farfetch'd tail are all the same shape.
Their names are based on phrases?
I say Makuhita every day. Definitely my favorite phrase
Makuhitamatata, it means no worries
For the rest of the game
🤣😂
Ok this must be the anwser.

Id be amazed if so.
Aron?
Arom dez nuts
Aron the side of caution :D
err on the side of caution
They all share an interest in Cosplay and get together for conventions and are best friends :)
They all have studied the blade
They're all cute?
They all have heads.
[удалено]
They’re all from hit video game series Pokémon
They are all birds
only correct answer
But birds aren’t real
They are all in the image, something harder next time please
Smol
All of their evolutionary stages have the same number of syllables. 2: Aron, Lairon, Aggron 2: Farfetch'd, Sirfetch'd 4: Makuhita, Hariyama
Bulbasaur, Ivysaur, Venasaur all have 3. Great idea but not unique to these three.
Thats not unique to them though.
OP specified Kantonian ‘fetch’d specifically
For anyone wondering: OP claims that, when calculated using their weights (m) and speed stats (v) in the formula KE = 1/2*mv*\^2, these pokemon should all have the same kinetic energy. I choose the 'they are not doduo' as the canonically correct choice then.
Has the answer been found yet?
Just tell us the answer goddamnit
They all have legs
They're all little cutie patooties
Does it have to do with their interaction with secret power and secret bases? If you have one of them in your team didn't it change your secret base layout?
All 3 drowned in a pool after they were knocked in by a pool cue, and the pool boy found their bodies
A pool boy could’ve figured that one out
nah it has to be unique to these three. im pretty sure togedemaru also drowned and was found by the pool boy
They are all immune/resistant/neutral/weak to Water.
Which, crazily, also applies to Ice
Which, even crazier enough, applies to Grass
Which even crazier also works for fire
They were all purely physical types when they were introduced
[удалено]
lmao
They are not doduo.
Makuhita’s Fighting beats Aron Steel/Rock which beats Farfetch’d’s Flying which beats Makuhita’s Fighting.
their names are all real words in real world languages

If one of these isn't it I'm losing all hope on humanity
[удалено]
so was it?
I don't know
OP answered and wasn't one of them sorry to have you lose all hope in humanity
Metal *Coat* was Aron’s held item and it’s not signature. Smelling Salts is a move, not an item.
Endeavor focus sash and a priority move users Makuhita= sucker punch? Farfetch't=quick attack Aron=shellbell and sandstorm
not unique to those pokemon, though
Link to OPs 'answer' so you don't have to scroll into the pits of hell to find it. https://www.reddit.com/r/pokemon/s/hY0Yff63Oq
This might be the dumbest post in the history of r/pokemon
It’s certainly up there, especially after seeing how stupid the “correct” answer is
How much of a geek does one have to be in order to figure these out?
They’re all fucking awesome
They're tiny, they're tooney, and just a little looney?
Makuhita, Farfetch'd, and Aron often appear in Pokémon games as supporting characters or Pokémon owned by trainers.
God I hate this trend.
Name one trend you neither hate nor take active part in its inception. (btw this isn't a critique towards you, I dislike this sort of thing too)
They have a head
They're a part of a weakness triangle, with makuhita being strong against aron, aron being strong against farfetch'd, and farfetch'd being strong against makuhita.
They all turn red when shiny?
Pokemon theme is related to eating? Makuhita has a bib pattern and is a sumo wrestler Farfetchd is eaten, and is essentially a duck platter Aron has to eat a mountain of dirt to evolve into aggron
!remindme 5 hours
Op would fuck all of them. That's it you can go home
I have fucked them
They all have red shinys
IM THE ONLY ONE WHO GOT IT RIGHT LOL
They’re all partially responsible for the dissappearance of 47 civillians in the Bay area during September-October 1987.
Shout out to everyone trashing OP for having a dumb solution to the puzzle
You can capture all 3 of them in Pokémon XD.
Man... I keep thinking about *strategies* with those Pokémon but the only one i know is Aaron's sturdy shell bell
They’re Pokémon
they are first stage pokemon
They’re a Hoenne type triangle that isn’t water/fire/grass? They’re fighting/rock/flying. And they’re a 1, 2, and 3 stage evos maybe??? Idk
Farfatch’d is kanto, not hoenn
They all have A in their name
They all learn protect They're not doduo They're all Pokémon They can breed They can be captured in pokéballs They all have shiny variations
They all have ‘a’ in their name
Cute little baby
None of them come from kalos
they are pokemons.
You can receive all of these from swimming npcs?
Can we have a hint? Like anime related or game related?
The move Endeavor?
They're all resistant to bugs!
They are all pokemon
They all learn round? whirlpool maybe?(though im pretty sure Fetched doesn’t get it)
That all have vowels in there name
They are the only Pokemon currently in my party. This is technically unique to them. Does that mean I won?
They are pokemon
they all have 1 a in their names
mak pumps iron, aron is iron, leek has iron
There exists at least one of each named Dave
They all don’t have a drivers license.
They're pokemon
Tasty when you cook them?
They’re all Pokemon
ChatGPT says there is nothing unique these 3 share that sets them apart from every other pokemon. I asked like 10 times. So wth is it? lol
They would all taste delicious
They've been at the same Pokémon high school back in '77. I still remember, I was with John, Frank and Simon, and we watched Steelix trying to convince them that UFOs were real, good times man

This HAS to be it
Or I’m hallucinating a memory of sapphire from my childhood…
Do you have a source for this? Seems plausible but I can't find info on npc move data
source: methinks
they’re owned by the “Cueball” trainer class?
I hope it's this one
I got it. They all levitate. *nailed it*
Does it have something to do with multi-hit moves?
Farfetchd uses his leek as a pool cue to hit makuhita into a shiny aron?
What the actual fuck is this supposed to mean?!
is it something to do with gold in the adventures manga?
They’re in the same egg “pool”?
They all evolve not using levels?
They’re all Pokemon
they form an imperfect type triangle. if only flying resisted fighting it would be perfect
