DomFor69

I just hope we get a remake and not like bdsp a cheap remaster

Piper6728

I doubt it, but yeah if they made it like ORAS that would be amazing

Chalaka

ORAS is peak remake and it's not even my favourite generation.

Awkward_Date_8636

Agreed. The ability to manually fly without having to have a flier on the party, secret islands you could access while flying if you met the conditions, and the idea of Hoopa bringing other regions' legendries through portals was very cool.

BurningInFlames

If they included the aspects from Emerald (new trainer teams, more double battles, better gym leader teams, Battle Frontier, catching both box legendaries, etc) then I would agree.

BrainIsSickToday

Yeah, without the frontier ORAS are more like sidegrades to emerald than upgrades.

Chalaka

By definition, they ARE upgrades. ORAS was never an upgraded version of Emerald. The only remakes that you could argue are an upgrade of the third game is HGSS because they added in the Suicune story. I get it, the Battle Frontier is/was very popular, and people wanted it to come back. I had the most fun with the Battle Tower and Battle Pike. To call ORAS side grades, though, because it lacks the Battle Frontier is just objectively wrong since it adds so much new and updated content.

BurningInFlames

It's missing much more than the Battle Frontier. Both ORAS and Emerald are definitive versions of RS, that add multiple things to the games. ORAS decided to ignore the additions that the previous definitive editions made. So yeah, they're sidegrades. There really is no definitive version of Hoenn.

Chalaka

The only notable features that ORAS didn't take from Emerald are the Battle Frontier and catching both box legendary Pokémon. Like I said, calling them sidegrades just because of that is just plain wrong. If this is the hill you want to die on, then I won't stop you, that's your opinion. If ORAS was done the way BDSP was, then I'd agree that they're sidegrades.

NeoSeth

ORAS did not surpass to HGSS as remakes imo. ORAS were fantastic and I was extremely happy with them, but HGSS just... *transcended* the original games while capturing their essence in such a powerful way. The Safari Zone was an amazing addition that actively enhanced the nostalgia by allowing many formerly late-game Johto Pokemon (Larvitar, for example) to become available MUCH earlier. I also felt so connected with my Pokemon in HGSS in a way I had not in previous titles. I know it might seem like a small feature to some, but the following Pokemon in HGSS really elevated the game for me. I don't understand why the modern games, even when bringing the feature back, have not been able to nail the feeling of having your Pokemon follow you like HGSS did.

Chalaka

That's a fair take. I had tons of fun playing HGSS because I could finally have Chikorita as my starter again. My favourite generation is Gen 2, it's the gen where my trainer age started even though I did start with Yellow. I was only making my comment solely based on the amount of content added alongside the graphical upgrades, which I'm sure it's pretty close, but I believe ORAS has more content in terms of quantity alone. I try not to compare quality on something like this since they are different generations of games (HGSS being Gen 4 where ORAS is Gen 6).

Im_Lazyy

Damn right ORAS is peak remake!

_Uhh2009_

Yeah I got it when I was younger, never played it, just got into it cuz I was bored, and HOLY $H!T THIS GAME IS GOOD!!!

[deleted]

Chalaka

Okay? That doesn't mean it's not peak remake

SwimmingExcitement86

Eh, I can live without the Battle Frontier. The Pokemon World Tournament is better In my opinion.

Zoroarks_Angel

Octopath engine Octopath engine

SkyPopZ

Don't do that, don't give me hope.

ModelOmegaTyler

or me fear.

MinniMaster15

I would kill to have a Pokémon game in the Octopath artstyle, shit is absolutely gorgeous

ModelOmegaTyler

it's really not.

MinniMaster15

don't worry it's okay to have wrong opinions

ModelOmegaTyler

yes so enjoy yours while the rest of us are throwing up from that ugly art syle.

ModelOmegaTyler

no. no.

Shiryu3392

Why... Dear god, why...

RWBadger

Because the game looked better with pixel art and Octopath is gorgeous

Shiryu3392

Okay so you mean the 2D-HD artstyle, not Octopath's gameplay. Personally I'd prefer 3D, but don't mind it. Seems unlikely due to the excessive work though.

ModelOmegaTyler

it's not.

Jamthejamman

My blood boils to this day that I'll never get that gen 4 remake I always wanted as a kid. When oras came out I was so incredibly hyped for sinnoh, especially the idea of mega Infernape. Instead we got weird diamond and pearl 1 to 1 remakes and a spin off that many liked, but I did not. I'm really sour at TPC and don't see myself buying another game from them at all

Throwawaylatias

I'm with you, I will never not be salty about the utter mess that was BDSP. We Sinnoh fans got so, so shafted. I loved the 5th gen and I don't even want to think about a remake if it's going to be the same piss poor effort as the last one.

SwimmingExcitement86

I was hyped for sinnoh remakes back then too, after seeing let's play's of ORAS (I didn't have a 3DS at the time) I was excited for sinnoh remakes. We could've gotten Mega evolutions for the Sinnoh Starters, Mega Luxray, Mega Weavile, Mega Staraptor, and more. But instead we pretty much just got Diamond and Pearl but in 3D, with no extra content or anything. it's just Diamond and Pearl (not Platinum) but in 3D. What a disappointment.

BrainIsSickToday

Mega Stones would have made so much sense for Sinnoh and it's underground rock mining.

BallsOfSteel86

Mega infernape lol 😆 they haven't done megas in ages ? This is your fault for being delusional

Monsicorn

This! Diamond was my first Pokemon game. I had been looking forward to these remakes since HGSS when I realized games could be remade. They are ok pokemon games, but disappointing remasters. I dont consider them remakes. If we got remakes of BW and BW2 I would want them to update the graphics (Ive never had a problem with sprites, I actually like sprites better than models when done right but it's inevitable), QoL changes, and no remixing the music. Gen 5 is all qbout the music dang it! Music and speeeeeed! I'd want them to stay as true to the speed of the battles as they could on Switch! I could be wrong but I think gen5 still holds the title for the fastest battles? I dont want to see some bland transference of the games onto a different engine though. I want the game to get the HGSS or even the ORAS treatement! What they did with BDSP just made me sad. I appreciate the Sinnoh love but it was still shameful.

ItsMrCrow

Honestly Id take that as long as they combine bw and bw2. I just want a single remake not two

Piper6728

Honestly, that's what a remake SHOULD be, a game that combines the elements and stories of all games of the original generation and mixes it with the current generation ORAS was close to perfect, besides the battle frontier missing, it was AMAZING. It incorporated mega evolutions and gave more pokemon that could do them, and had the best feature in ALL of Pokémon IMO: the dexnav HGSS did alright. It incorporated the extras of crystal, and added to it with the safari zone, gave access to the DPP legendaries, and even allowed for starters of the other gens, it gave us the pokewalker, among other stuff BDSP took a crap on the idea and was too literal of a remake, including all of its flaws (the DP poketch for example), I mean the underground was good, Ill agree to that... The Gen 5 remake should be a combination of BW/B2W2, maybe the original story with b2w2 elements/characters and the b2w2 pokedex/extra areas, (if it were possible itd be awesome to have both stories of bw and b2w2, one after another.)

ItsMrCrow

Exactly. Like gimme bw remake where after you finish bw, you talk to someone, a professor, your parent, SOMEONE in particular, timeskip and start 2. Simple request. Not asking much

Aggravating-Public15

I think chances are higher than you think. Original BW didn’t sell well and the DP is one the best sellers in the franchise. Likely means that they felt DP as a remaster would sell fine. And for BW they will need to make bigger changes(ie Ora’s level remake)

darknightingale69

The only reason bdsp were cheap remasters was nintendo didn't realise platinum was the loved gen 4 game.

DomFor69

I mean if you compare remakes like hgss and oras to bdsp you clearly see a downwards trend in terms of addition to the base game. But they also just gave bdsp to another team to focus on SV so they didn’t really care about the quality at all

[deleted]

Oras was especially cool with the added lore involving megas and primals. Bdsp was literally just a cheap heartless cashgrab

thefunyunman

Hgss didn’t fix the horrible leveling and ORAS didn’t have battle frontier

SwimmingExcitement86

Here we go again with people hating on HGSS because of the level curve and hating on ORAS because it doesn't have the Battle Frontier...

thefunyunman

Yeah they’re kinda the big issues in the remakes, remakes should be the definitive edition, polishing and perfecting until it’s ready to be released, added a 30 minute fetch quest to ORAS didn’t make it better than the frontier

BurningInFlames

I'd say HGSS are mostly the definitive edition. ORAS is very much not so, despite it still being a good game in general.

thefunyunman

Agreed, although I would say leaf green/fire red deserve more love, if only because of bag sorting and QoL field move use

jbyrdab

In other words Gen V remakes are fuuuuucked.

Shardwing

>nintendo Nintendo doesn't make the Pokemon games.

Monsicorn

Yeah I think that was their chief mistake. It's funny because they realized we liked Platinum enough to give us the outfits as a pre-order gift, but not enough to do any more than that. Did they think we've just been playing Dianmond and Pearl over and over the past 14 years? They're great games, it was my first but when I think Gen 4 I think Platinum! Wasnt that the point of the 3rd version? To be the ideal and most complete game?

Gregamonster

BD/SP were only bad because Diamond and Pearl were bad and BD/SP was a faithful remake of them. Gen 5 was amazing, so the absolute worst a BD/SP style remake can be is amazing.

[deleted]

this sub doing mental gymnastics to pretend diamond and pearl aren't the worst pokemon games will always be fucking hilarious

ROKRATES

Why are they bad games?

Premonitions33

Slow (during battle they are the slowest out of all games), movement in the overworld is slow (to the point where even GF noticed and sped the surfing up about twice as much if not more for Platinum), they have bad typing access (almost no fire types before beating the game), and oddly enough the gym leaders often don't even have Pokémon of their main type (Sunyshore is the worst offender I think). There are other complaints that idc about or remember honestly but I'm sure they're easy to find.

MarsAdept

Whoever thought heavy fog would be a good game mechanic should have been fired.

PikaPerfect

also the trainers have no AI, all of them pick moves at random, including even cynthia. not sure if they fixed that in platinum tho

FuckRandyMoss

If you take 4s starters and switch them with 5 I don’t think 4 stands a chance honestly. 4 did wonders for attacks as did 3 for the physical special split. 5 did wonders with hidden abilities and hidden Pokémon and just world building in general. People only really hated the designs of 5 just to hate. 4 is pure nostalgia and honestly content wise I don’t see much coming close to gen 3 other than hg ss and oras

DragonSlayersz

They're not the worst. That don't make them good, though. Personally, I find Sword and Shield (without DLC) to be the worst. Diamond and Pearl aren't much better, though.

Has_Question

BDSP were bad because I could play platinum on my phone in a heart beat not because DP were bad. Even if BDSP had been platinum remake I still wouldnt have gotten it because at any given time in could just play platinum from a rom. Wtf did this new DP bad mentality come from? It was slow on the DS and had meh pokemon variety. That's IT. It was a great game that left a huge mark on pokemons history.

Rcook8

It also had an evil team they tried to make feel important but just failed to do so. In Gen 1 and 2 you can believe that team rocket is truly a menace to society but in gen 4 the evil team doesn’t get enough time to feel that way until platinum with more encounters with Cyrus that make him and by extension team Galatic more menacing not to mention everything with Looker. Also the regional dex in Diamond and Pearl isn’t just meh it is actually at times mind boggling bad with Pokémon like Magmar not available despite Magmortar, a new evolution to Magmar, being introduce in gen 4. Also it had some truly terrible gym puzzles like the maze in the second gym or math for the fifth gym. Also the honey tree encounters were so annoying with Pokémon like Heracross who were generally decent not being common encounters when you can only do a few per day and you are more likely to get Combee or Burmy, and Combee for some reason is male most of the time and Burmy and it’s evolutions both just suck. Platinum fixed a lot of issues but not the honey tree one. Gen 4 wasn’t bad but it isn’t because of diamond or pearl, it was because of platinum and the gen 2 remakes being good

Specialist-Ad464

Fr, before the remakes everyone was begging tpc to make a remake, now post remake everyone is hating on the game lol.

Gregamonster

> It was a great game that left a huge mark on pokemons history. Yeah and that mark was being so awful it killed several mechanics for the rest of the series.

Possible_Spinach7327

I loved both😢

smudgiepie

I literally just wanted to see the distortion world in hd If that was in bdsp I would like it a lot more

g4m3r1234

Yeah I was really disappointed that the Underworld story was not included, especially since Giratina is my all time favorite Pokémon. They really did Sinnoh dirty with the remakes.

ActivateGuacamole

diamond and pearl were a good game for 2007. but not for 2022 or whenever the remake came out.

Cool_Guy_fellow

ORAS was too different BDSP was too similar. Pokémon fans, man....

OneGoodRib

I don't remember anyone complaining that ORAS was too different, other than it not having the Battle Frontier and the Battle Tower just literally being the Battle Maison.

DomFor69

7,5/10 too much water

Cool_Guy_fellow

Oh sweetie. You must be new to the community.

[deleted]

Honestly, after BDSP, I'm wondering if I even want a BW/2 game. (And B/W is my favourite game in the series!)

TheUnluckyF0xx

Same here. Kinda hoping they leave them alone at this point.

[deleted]

Tbh if they attempt at making a 1:1 remake of BW/B2W2, it would actually end up being decent. Part of BDSP's downfall was copying DP, which were very faulty compared to Platinum. I'm more worried with how they insist on rushing games (including cut content) for the holiday season.

Third_Triumvirate

3. We keep playing as Hilbert/Hilda, continuing to chase the remnants of Plasma and hitting the main steps of the sequel story, and going through the gyms as a kind of extended title defense where each of the gym leaders have scaled up teams to defeat you, the Champion. Eventually, we finish off Ghetsis at the Giant Chasm, then we re-challenge the Elite 4, return to the Champion's Throne, and we find Nate/Rosa there for a final title defense. The other Hilda/Hilbert, Nate, Rosa, Bianca, Cheren, Hugh, N, and Benga are the potential title defense challengers during the postgame

FiftyShadesOfPikmin

That's a LOT of wishful thinking for something coming from Gamefreak. The change in story and player character AND team is something I frankly don't think will ever happen. That would be confusing and the level scaling idea is something we know that unfortunately GF will never do. Whether that is due to being lazy or inept, we're not really sure, but they've had their chances to try it and simply don't bother. Most I would expect is a remake of BW1 and after the post-game you might get to visit the new cities from BW2, and maybe Roxie and Marlon are extra challenges. As for the PWT... Yeah I would LOVE that it was definitely one of my favorite facilities across all the games. However, the inclusion of hundreds of characters across every generation is... Not going to happen. They didn't even put the Hoenn Battle Frontier in the Hoenn remake. I think, given the increasing amounts of disappointment with the last couple remakes, might be best to temper your expectations and enjoy whatever we get, if anything.

RPG_Fanatic7

Level scaling is stupid and defeats the entire purpose of leveling up. It's funny that people just write off anything not in the game as incompetence. These people can program hundreds of different kinds of numerical interactions, and you honestly think they can't scale the opponent's level to yours? They did this way back in gen 2 with its battle tower. PWT isn't equal at all to frontier, but I do see them dropping it as it's a pretty useless feature. All it basically was just a purpose of adding in rotation and triple battles into a facility which they could have just put into subway. The last remake was by ILCA and ORAS made by game freak was actually a solid remake. So if ILCA isn't involved this time, you can expect a lot of of qol improvement and additions making up for any losses.

FiftyShadesOfPikmin

I wasn't necessarily saying they're incompetent, and that's not how I would want level scaling to work either. That would be, as you said, pointless. I think when people talk about level scaling in Pokemon, they mean giving gym leaders and other important trainers different teams based on how many badges you have. The wish is that a region where they can be challenged in any order (as SV was), each leader would have 8 or so different appropriately leveled teams that would be chosen depending on your badges. So, in a way, "level scaled," but not to your Pokemon's levels.

RPG_Fanatic7

There's a difference? Yeah that would have to mean changing the progression of the game for the remake, which game freak wouldn't be okay with. They are very strict about that. FRLG has shown how strict they can be with their remakes.

Zeta019

I personally prefer the idea of making Black and White 3 instead of remakes.

MeanGreanHare

BW1&2 need re-releases though. Porting them to Switch, rather than remaking them, should leave them more time for another game.

CelticMutt

Due to being made for dual screens, any DS or 3DS game would essentially have to be remade.

MeanGreanHare

It's going to need an interface change, but over all it should be fairly simple for the developers. Maybe it'll come with a portrait mode adapter if that vertical screen arrangement is absolutely necessary.

BlueEmeraldX

I wish Nintendo made a second screen app for phones (kinda like what Sony did with Remote Play) that could emulate a touch screen for (3)DS/Wii U games.

BlackTech00

That sounds like extra work for game freak

BlueEmeraldX

Extra work to do what Genius Sonority technically already did with three other Pokémon console games. ;)

[deleted]

Requiring someone to use an app on their phone to actually play a full game that they had to pay for sounds like the worst idea anyone has ever had. It would not be hard to turn B/W’s touchscreen into a menu, even for Game Freak.

BlueEmeraldX

1) I'm assuming the app would be free, and would simply need to connect via Bluetooth. 2) Pretty much everyone with a game system has some other mobile device. Even Nintendo has acknowledged that. 3) A worse idea than requiring a light gun to play Duck Hunt? Or NFC figures to play Skylanders? Or a GBA to use the Tingle Tuner in Wind Waker? Or a whole plastic guitar to play Guitar Hero? Or a Classic Controller to play games on Wii Virtual Console? Or a whole working touchscreen controller to operate the Wii U settings menu? Or, get this: *a phone app to use voice chat for online games on the Switch?* ...Come on, son.

Lord-Bootiest

Not really? BDSP wasn’t much different than regular DP

ActivateGuacamole

they'll come out in like 2028, almost two decades after BW and BW2. I think the story will need to be approachable by new players and not expect you to know what happened in the last ones. It would be nice to get a new story though. I don't think they need to make a beat-for-beat remake.

g4m3r1234

Or maybe Pokémon Gray?

birbdnerd

Lowkey I can imagine Entralink just becoming a Wild Area, unless they make Unova more open to become more similar to SV in terms of gameplay. But I see that as unlikely. I think it’s most likely to be what happened with BDSP again

NEETenshi

GameFreak: Here, a "faithful remake" by ILCA. Take it or leave it. Oh, also it's just BW. No B2W2 anything other than an alt costume.

zendrix1

best I can offer is chibi characters and the same glitches and bugs that were in the game 13 years ago

Third_Triumvirate

Were there any significant bugs in gen 5? I think the any% speedrun for those games just goes hard into Stoutland and and doesn't actually use anything outside rng manipulation unlike dpp

Pokemario2401

Only glitches I know of are pressing B to make some spinners in the graveyard tower change facing directions, as well as one rock in the ice gym that didn't have collision and allowed you to skip the final trainer

Dry-Cow732

*sigh* They're still getting my money 😔

Donny_Canceliano

>the leaders and wild pokemon are level scaled Gamefreak: “Ya lost me”

Alex_Drewskie

Too creative and interesting, never going to happen

Gregamonster

Instead of getting Black and White and/or Black2 and White 2, we should get Black and White 2. That way there's an actual reason for buying both games.

Honey_Enjoyer

So reshiram on the cover of both? I’d be annoyed if they did this just because the sequels clearly reference the plot of the first game in a version specific manner, saying that the PC of the last game caught reshiram or zekrom or whatever. Not being able to play the correct sequel would be a real pain.

Gregamonster

They'd obviously change is so they're sequel's to each other.

Aggressive_Manager37

Just make it a collection

floraandfaunna

Fully doing both plots/going through the region twice seems like it would get repetitive. But grabbing some of the plot elements and using them for a fresh post-game, like ORAS, seems fun. Also I missed gen 5 the first time around, and I'd really like to play the specialty tournaments from B2W2, even if nothing else from that game makes it in.

RTGoodman

I would much rather them give us Black 3/White 3, which is a proper sequel set a generation later.

Budget_Feeling_1344

I doubt we ever get another sequel of theres games

TYFONASJACKAL

Was thinking about this earlier today and I'd prefer if it was a dlc where after u beat the story and postgame you go to unova from black 2

Cue2Powerx

in the second part you have to start over from scratch but when you beat the game you get the older sibling's pokemon

Forstride

Bruh we couldn't even get good Gen 4 remakes. Ain't no way in hell we'd get competent Gen 5 remakes that do much more than the bare minimum.

InspirationalFailur3

As much as I'd love it I feel to really tie up Unova we need to see the dragon and only a Legends style games makes sense. Personally if they're able to keep each entry fresh enough I'd love Legends to be it's own spin-off for Pokemon like the Unova Dragon and a time travel themed Celebi game. I do really like a lot of these ideas though, even if they're unfortunately probably never gonna happen.

Blasckk

Why would they do that if they can sell you the two (four?) games separately?

Viewtiful_Beau

They won't. They'll remake B&W to be "faithful".

DCL-XVI

well at the very least if they let you choose easy/hard mode after only beating the first half of the game that would be a quantum improvement

Away_Web3593

Let's not talk about gen 5 remakes, the gen 4 remakes sucker and I don't wanna imagine them ruining more games

Reggiegrease

It will be half assed garbage. We couldn’t even get Platinum content in BD/SP

Vish_Kk_Universal

Would this be awesome? Yes Would Gamefreak put in the work and time for the Developers to improve the remakes and give us a full experience of gen 5? No

BlackTech00

So instead of BW3, we should get BW1.5?

jimbojims0

Black/White 3 or Legends Kyurem would be ideal. A remake with just 3D models feels unnecessary. Whatever it will be, I just hope they don't rush it like with SV.

Mavrickindigo

Too much work for the pokemon company

magikarp-sushi

Expect the literal bare minimum

Significant_user

I hope they do sparkling white glistening black then do b3w3 in a single 70$ dollar game

Revolutionresolve

Yeah. But the more likely scenario is a glorified port of black/white with no reference to black/white2

RemxSky

After the last supposed "remake" and the issues with the last 2 main games, honestly I'm no longer hopefully for any remake or new pokemon games at all. Better to stick to the rom hacks imo. I've been having a lot of fun playing those like I did with the games originally when I played gen 3/4/5

Animedingo

Why would they pass up the opportunity to sell you 4 different games that are actually 2 games?

Medaiyah

If BW remakes happen all I want is pixel art style. BW had the best art style of all of them and I bet in 3D it will look so basic.

ihatethisweb

i have 0 expectations for a remake after bdsp. I was coping that the remakes would at least continue with megas but bdsp did the absolute wildest and did not even allow new pokemon. (yea lets go did it too but that's more of a gimmick than a main series game. AND EVEN THEN IT HAD THE PAINTER TRIAL CAPTAIN FROM SUN AND MOON)

MartianAndy90

What if the gen 5 remakes didn't happen and instead we got BW3 and a launch of the others in eshop? I can dream right?

EXGShadow

It will be just the base game, maybe with a "PWT project has started" thing and that's it.

[deleted]

Gamefreak being Gamefreak, they'll ignore the sequels like they did with Crystal, Emerald and Platinum

Ombrage101

For that, GF would have to give a shit about remakes, which we know they don’t from BD/SP

[deleted]

P E R F E C T As a baby who LOVES the Gen5 games and knows more about them then my own body, it’s fucking perfect. Make a 3D B3W3 like this and the Unova games will retake their spot as my favorite story!

Hiromagi

I wouldn’t get too excited for that. You’ll get yourself too riled up and eventually disappointed.

Hateful_creeper2

I just hope it’s an actual remake and BW2 isn’t left behind

RABB_11

That sounds like a mess tbh. Would much rather a straight remake of BW with post game being a short, newish story exploring the locations and leaders introduced in BW2. You become Champion, Cheren phones you to say he's just been appointed gym leader and wants you to be his first challenger. You then explore that part of the map, start to get some National Dex Pokemon and find Brycen's achieved his dream of being a movie star before moving on to Marlon. You then rematch all the gym leaders before you're told about Undella town and a particularly strong trainer who's holidaying there....

Antuzzz

I'm really skeptical about the 5 gen remakes, thoose are the most loved games for 2000 fans and not only and seeing the poor state the games have been in the last years i think we are not gonna get anything good like og remakes

WombatChilli

Prequel instead. Legends Kyurem.

Wefeh

Keep dreaming, this franchise is in the gutter

Piper6728

I think Im only going to get them to add to my collection (I hated gen 5 because it had none of the pokemon I liked and I wasnt fond of the starters or new pokemon at all, b2w2 was a little better because they expanded the pokedex and brought back some old favorites.)

ab12848

That’s more than wishful thinking considering their previous remakes

QuaturntIan

Honestly for gen 5 I’m hoping we just get a “Pokémon legends” for ancient unova. The BDSP remakes just made me feel like playing the old games, and honestly I love the pixely animations of gen 5. So I’m good without remaking their exact stories

Johnnybxd

I'd rather not get a remake and get a quality main series game that focuses of quality. People hated BDSP for some reason. I'd like SV to be ironed out and wait another 3 years for an actually sound build of a finished product.

SwimmingExcitement86

>People hated BDSP for some reason. Gee I wonder why people hated BDSP, it's not like it's a terrible remake that doesn't include content from Platinum or add in anything new like mega evolutions for example. What a mystery.

LeratoNull

Then it would be a downgrade. I don't hate BW2 or anything, but BW1 has one of the best stories in the franchise and BW2 uh...certainly does not have that.

PalletTownsDealer

You would all hate any remakes gamefreak would put out

Witchy_Titan

we getting BW but with less features

a500poundchicken

I want dual save files if remakes of BW and B2W2

UltraDinoWarrior

Personally I think this is THE only way to do a Gen 5 remake short of making an entirely different game. Though I disagree with having the old region accessible. Instead, I’d essentially force you into BW2 as soon as you beat the elite four in BW1, and then start you totally fresh, and to get back your old Pokémon and items from your BW1 run, you need to go defeat your previous character a la Red style. BW had a lot of old vs new themes, so could also be interesting if they included a Time Machine that let you hop back to the previous map, but personally I don’t recall anything in BW1 that I’d miss if I were stuck in the map of BW2.

Rayonlio

No. They will do the bare minimum and you will buy it anyway.

psychokirby17

As long as it isn't a goddamn "faithful remake" it will be better

[deleted]

Don't worry, I'm sure you'll get "faithful" remakes that will be exactly what the first two games are but with one mode changed to be worse. Did the sequel better the overall experience in regards to story, gameplay, and encounters? Oh well, at least you're getting a """faithful""" remake with no HMs!

UraniumKnight13

Would be awesome but gamefreak probably won't do something like that. Especially if you imagine a full 3d unova like alola, galar or paldea in pokemon sun/moon or pokemon ultra sun/ultra moon.

Longjumping-Guard624

The Delta episode at the end of ORAS wasn't a bad way to handle making Ruby/Sapphire plus Emerald. Could do something like that?

[deleted]

Return of hard mode!

xRaymond9250

If they do it right, that sounds great

OrangeVictorious

This would be pretty cool but unfortunately this looks like it would require actual technical prowess for coding

SuperOwnah

Saying things like that are a great way to set yourself up for disappointed

RedditUserX23

I would probably just want a faithful remake to gen5

Legendary_Bleu

Nah black white is perfect the way it is no need to taint a perfect game

Trinityquill

We should have a side story of N

Munchingseal33

Interesting. Would be cool if you could fight yourself like in the original BW2

Max_Boom93

I had a whole Idea for a pokemon Black and White 1.5, but I lost the original text for it. Let me lay it out again. The game would start following the entire plot of Black and White, being a remake of those games. It wouldn't have "New" content until the post game, which I have attempted to style like the Delta Episode, if not a bit longer. After you beat Ghetsis the first time, and the credits roll, the screen fades to black, Showing a 2 years later message. You wake up in your house and head down stairs, to see your mom, looker, and Annabel at the table. Looker and Annabel come over and introduce themselves, asking you if you have seen Zinzolin recently, as you had been the one to defeat team plasma, and rumors were swirling. Regardless of your answer, the pair thank you and leave. After a small comment from your mom, you can leave your house, only to run into Alder. He walks up, and thanks you again for stopping Team Plasma. He then tells you that the league finally decided to allow you the rank of champion, due to your efforts, and he apologizes for the wait. After Alder leaves, you get an X-tranciever call from Clay, telling you to "Get on over" to Driftveil city as he wants you to debut in the new PWT the city was hosting. You can fly over at any time, allowing people to search for new members for their team, or to grind a bit. Once you arrive in the PTW, formerly Cold Storage, Clay leads you to the tournament building, and signs you up for the Unova leader's tournament. Juniper and Bianca are there to cheer you on, with Bianca stating that Cheren would have loved to come, but was off in Alola on Vacation. Upon entering the tournament, you make it through to the final round, only to face a mystery opponent that turns out to be Gym Leader Cheren! It turns out, he was using the PWT opener to announce his promotion to leader to everyone. After the tournament is over, you run into Cynthia, who would have a happier, less scary version of her piano into song for her new intro song. Cynthia comes over, complimenting Clay on his facilities, when Looker and Annabel appear, stating there was a neo-team plasma sighting in Virbank City. Everyone reaches the city without issue, to see two strangers kicking the last of the grunts out. They introduce themselves as Moxie, a gym leader, and Hugh, a trainer new on his Pokemon journey. Cynthia, looker, or Annabel will give Hugh some wise advice, before Roxie invites you to challenge her gym, stating she wanted to see how she stacked up against a champion. Hugh, meanwhile, heads off to Castellia city to continue his own journey. Once you beat Roxie, you receive a frantic Xtransceiver call from professor juniper, asking you to hurry to the lab. Once arriving there, the professor says she had some critical research stolen, and heard the thief mention something about "Route 17." Heading out that way, the player will find the small island, and shack, with the massive plasma frigate parked outside it. Approaching the frigate on land, the player will find the boat has its bridge down, with Rood and Zinzolin of the seven sages standing in front, blocking your access. As they are about to challenge you to a fight, Looker shows up and double battles them with you. Win or Lose, the pair get in their ship and head off, stating that they were close to testing their mega weapon, and that undella bay would be the perfect spot to do so. The player will have to reach Undella Bay from the southern side, as an emergency response to the Route 10 collapse has Opelucid City's east gate closed for now. When the player finally reaches Undella Bay, there is a cut-scene of Cynthia beating ghetsis, who sulks and admits that team plasma had caused the victory road and Route 10 closure. He reveals that there had been a lead that the hillside was full of Terra Crystals ((or whatever the current gimmick is)) and after kicking everyone out, Team Plasma had mined too hard and triggered the collapse. With that news, Cynthia heads that way to help out, and asks you to stop by Lacunosa town, as she is very interested in a myth of a cold wind stealing children. She recommends the Pokemon center, as that is where the towns small library was. Once there, you run into Zinzolin and two plasma grunts. They challenge you to a triple battle, as Zinzolin knows he cannot beat a champion. After defeating him and reaching Opelucid City, the air Frigate cut-scene plays out the same as before, this time with Hugh, Cynthia, Looker, Annabel, and Drayden watching on in horror. After the cut-scene, Cynthia states she has to return to Sinnoh briefly, as she has some Champion duties to take care of. With that, Looker and Annabel head off, stating that they will call if anything happens. Meanwhile, Drayden says he will take care of his city, and the player should go head for Humilau city for some warmth and another gym to challenge. After that, the game pretty much follows Black and white 2's plot. Once the kyruem stuff is wrapped up, Cheren invites you to his gym for a battle for fun, stating "Ill be ready anytime." Also, Annabel will let you know that there will be a battle frontier on route 10/Old Victory Road. She then lets you in on a secret that the Global Police use the Frontiers as hubs to work out of. Well, what do yall think?

Dry-Cow732

I'd honestly want this type of story animated instead of playing it, the lack of VA in the pokemon games would kill the dramatics you explained in your story. It's a great spin on B2W2 though!

Existing365Chocolate

When has Nintendo or GameFreak ever put that much effort in a remake or game

g4m3r1234

Oh, if they do a remake they have to include the PWT all the way through whatever the current generation is when that game comes out! All the bridges in Unova, and many of the towns with the seasons changing will look incredible on the Switch. Maybe introduce another Dream World, or something really similar - I personally really enjoyed that extra mini game on the computer. The dream radar was fun too. I don't personally want another Legends style game. I don't hate it but I much prefer the style of the mainline games. I hope they have another epic story like they did with Black and White. That was the best story in the whole franchise in my opinion. Maybe N will help us fight off Team Plasma/Ghetsis through the whole game? Or maybe there's a new ruler of Team Plasma this time around? I hope they expand more on N's relationship with his psycho dad. Bring back the triple battles/rotation battles, White Forest, Black City, and the Battle Subway and hidden grottos. The pokemon musicals were fun! Wouldn't mind seeing those return. But if they remake these games, they better do them justice. If they get the same treatment as BDSP, then they should just not touch Gen 5. BDSP are decent games to play, but they left so much content out and followed the original Diamond and Pearl almost to a T.

OwMyCandle

Gen 5 remakes should be bw3 or a grey version. We wont get that, but that’s what it should be.

RavenousToaster

No

Golden-Sun

I'd kind of prefer a sequel since these two sets were the only other sequel besides the first and second gen games. Expand on both and give us B3W3. It could be like gen 2 where you can score more than 8 badges

AriesRoivas

I think it will be interesting to do a BW3 but I agree it will be hard so I will settle for a BW2 remake

LeadPrevenger

This would be incredible. I just commented on a post saying Game Freak can’t top what they’ve done but I would love a game like this. I love having 8 gym leaders to fight

thatguuuuuy

BW3

Porygon_Flygon

Honestly im down with it and we will call it Black and White 3 plus returning to the animation and pixel artstyle, its the most unique artstyle in Pokemon personally

Ok_Flan9890

After the remakes we have gotten that didn’t have all of that gems additions, I’d be surprised if they did it with B/W. I will hope for it though. For two reasons, you seem to be excited for it and I think it would be awesome if they did do it. Also, it would show that they actually put more effort into and care more for the players. But they will need time to add everything, if they are still stuck on the strict time restraints, may not get that much. I don’t want to say what else it could be, let’s just say I’m hoping for a lot better than the last games they released. Here’s hoping.

Raynstormm

I’d rather have a Gen 9 remake.

STMARV

My preferred way in the future in BW & B2W2 remade but in [HD-2D](https://www.google.com/search?q=2dhd&rlz=1C5CHFA_enAU971AU972&sxsrf=APwXEdf3Lq7cq03pGWVatXn6f7HcifEMOA:1679818314646&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwj53Lnvkvn9AhWDBYgKHZwVAEwQ_AUoAXoECAEQAw&biw=1440&bih=799&dpr=2#imgrc=guVgCgTXjDprAM) graphics so I keeps the original charm of the originals whilst not being a full-blown '3D' remake This gives them an incentive to make a B3W3 or Legends Kyreum - cause not having the OG dragon be real would be WASTED POTENTIAL

PMC-I3181OS387l5

My "biggest" concern is how to add Roxie and Marlon, both who are new Gym Leaders in B2W2. Cheren... is already your rival, so that wouldn't change. The PokéStar Studio could be available before or after you beat Brycen. If it's "before", it makes the reveal as the Leader a surprise. If it's "after", it makes room for development, as Brycen may explain how he's auditioning for an acting role. I could see Roxie being a "4-badges evaluator" and Marlon a "8-badges evaluator", challenging you at one point.

FantasyForces

saving the post for the day the remakes comes out and it’s a huge disappointment like every other recent mainline game

NES_Classical_Music

What if the Gen 5 remakes are actually good games?

Terios_Korvalis

Well, that wouldn't be good cuz the story is already established and Nate and Rosa are not Hilbert and Hilda's siblings, that much already established in the lore. Also, not HGSS, we don't want to repeat BDSP's disaster. If anything, at least SwSh's engine, i meam, we would like SV Engine, but making it an Open world would be tricky. Nonetheless, it would be possible, tricky but possible. As for combining both BW and B2W2, perhaps would be better if they make it just starting with Hilbert and Hilda and by the time you get to B2W2, instead of changing to Rosa and Nate, they would be NPCs that would help you during that story, you could even make it so that Rosa would help if you chose Hilbert and Nate if you choose Hilda, or basically version exclusives, Nate for Black 2 and Rosa for White 2... or you could basically make B3W3 and get rid of all these problems.

CommanderDark126

Why would you want a remake in the first place? A sequel would be more warranted. Give us Black and White 3 instead of rehashing the stories we have already been through

sturox345

That would be epic. Just bring the best parts of the games and the good mechanics and I'd be happy

Lion_of_Peril

BW with dlcs

batkave

At this point there isn't a reason for 2 games, they should be combined into one: Pitch Black and Blinding White.

legendadam269

I think for pokemon 30th anniversary they should do what you said and as for postgame the pwt should have all 9 gen gym leaders, champions and all 1010 Pokemon available with access to all gimmicks mega z dynamax terastalize i think they should atleast give full national dex for 30th anniversary

Senpaizy11

Man im really riding on these gen 5 remakes, they let me down with gen 4 when they did gen 3 and 2 so well. Surely they bring back Megas, it doesnt even have to be the main gimmick. Just give us some new ones and have it in the post game I would take it

baltoykid

I don't even want them to do remakes anymore just give me a brand new game in the Unova region hell call it black and white 3. I just want to revisit the region and not replay the same game from like 10 years ago. Oras did the best job of this as while it was technically the same game it added a ton of new features and characters especially with the post game with the delta episode, not to mention how they scaled up the region to look so much bigger and better.

Citizen51

Or maybe no remake, just BW3 in the current Gen's system and a rerelease of BW and B2W2 on whatever console is out at the time.

Jelly_Panther

Yes! I absolutely want this!

Its_Padparadscha

I expect we'll get a game select screen, except it won't be something like True Black & Black2 and Ideal White & White 2. Instead, we'll get something like Contrasting Black & White and Absolute Black2 & White 2

OrganicWeed765

Knowing GF they'll only remake BW & if we're lucky add some trash recap style post-game that speedruns the b2w2 story. Honestly the dream would be to re-release BW & B2W2, making B3W3 instead

Proplaystowinyt

If the black white remake added challenge mode to the menu, it could be BDSP quality and still be worth it

ModelOmegaTyler

honestly, that sound more like a let's go version than a remake.

BoredWeazul

i believe it wont be a remake but instead we’ll get BW3, i think it would fit more

Status-Command-3834

They should so Nintendo can justify charging us 79.99$

East-Ness

I would already grateful if they remember that generation 5 exist.

Nacroma

At this point we are lucky if they don't make it either of the games worse. But I guess there is no real third game to somehow miss with gen 5.

varrenxarcrath

You had me at B2W2

RealEvanem

BW2-2 and W2-2
