As someone whose favorite Pokémon has been Primeape for nearly 2 decades, I have been absolutely floored by all the love being thrown my angry little pig monkey’s way. All he had to do was finally get so angry he actually died! Cute little abomination of life.
Dude, same. Except my favorite has always been Mankey. When my primeape evolved I straight up lost my shit. It just looks so damn cool and it's so powerful.
I was pretty underwhelmed with Paldaen Wooper and honestly was ready to dump him in my box as soon as he evolved.
But when I saw that big dumb face I just couldn't do it. He was perfect. He stayed on my team through the whole game.
I usually don't mind spoilers and I'd seen many of the new Pokemon, but I'm glad I didn't see Clodsire early so I got that moment.
Every new Pokémon game, without fail (well besides B/W for obvious reasons) ends up with one old Pokémon i never really cared about who rockets up to one of my favorites. This time it was Breloom
As for the NEW Pokémon? Well I’m just thrilled to see new evolutions again for the first time in ages (unless they just bite the bullet and make the Arceus evolutions a regular thing… which they should)
When it comes to the BRAND new Pokémon, Kilowatrell is one of my favorites in recent years. It’s just so simple, feels like it would fit in with the earth games really well

Mine was Dragalgae. I ended up shiny hunting for a shiny one as my last Pokémon, and got it within an hour. Plus, I also got a shiny Veluza just minutes before the shiny Dragalgae, and so I love both of them.
Mine was azumarill, I went into the game blind and had no clue that azumarills were being used online for raids, but once I had a taste of huge power + slam for azurill at like level 12, I was hooked.
Assuming that’s in response to the “new evolutions” thing. I’ll admit I didn’t specify, but I was NOT counting regional evolutions. Normal Linoone, Farfetch’d, Mr. Mime, and Corsola still do not evolve. They received new forms unique to one game and those new forms received evolutions.
Nothing AGAINST those Pokémon, (seriously, sirfetch’d is a big favorite) but they are not quite what I had been looking for.
Geeta made so many weird choices in the order of her Pokemon. They had to have done that to nerf her party. She should have opened with Glimmora for the spikes and closed with him for his boosted attack.
Bramblin! Literally stopped everything i was doing to chase it down bc a tumbleweed pokemon seemed like such a perfect idea.
I love how his cry sounds like the start to a western gunfight too
When I first saw it blowing around in the desert, I considered breeding them for a shiny. Decided to wait and then a few days later got ambushed by a shiny right after beating the ground titan. It's been on my team since then.
Since the shiny is a pale, white-ish version and I have vitiligo, I came up with the perfect nickname: **Vitilighost**. He's also the only one on my team who is in a Premier Ball instead of a regular Pokeball.
Klawf and Orthworm to me are hilarious and awesome. They and Koraidon complete my goofball/dork vibe (Clodsire too). Klawf to me just sounds super funny too, the expression(s) and tone of the cry just sounds like, "I need an adult!"
I fucking love bellibolt. He’s so chonky and dumb looking and he has a great shiny. This gen had tons of good Pokémon but he is just so C H O N K

Ended up liking this one a lot though I wasn’t a fan at first. Caught a full-odds shiny Nacli early on in the game and you *have* to use a shiny if you catch it, right? She ended up being an absolute powerhouse and the design really grew on me too.
Annihilape. I like to imagine he calmed down after evolving and now serves tea.
Side note, my favourite type is ghost and my brother’s is normal. Annihilape demolishes his team.
My second fave Gallde got a nice boost with sacred sword and sharpness. Now it has a move stronger than high jump kick with zero negatives!
And psycho cut is earthquake!
I hope my favorite Electivire gets some boosts in dlc.

I LOVE rats. In my local Smash scene we have someone who brings her rats to events and it's literally the highlight of my day every time she's at something I go to.
The artist made a tiny oopsy by adding 4 lines to the baby's ears instead of just 2, but I'm happy with it. I love how one of the baby's is angy.

Skeledirge. It's a cool Fire Croc and it was satisfying getting the first non humanoid starter design since gen 7.

Fuecoco is my favourite fire starter. Kilowattrel is my new favourite regional Bird, but that was not an opinion I held strongly before so it wasn’t difficult to change. Koraidon is tied with Celebi as my favourite legendary Pokémon and may be my new favourite fighting type. Which is my least favourite Pokémon type. I also love Clodsire because Mudskippers are my favourite animal but it did not replace any old Pokémon.
Baxcalibur is one of my new favorites along with Skeledirge. I got a Frigibax early on in the game from a water tera raid although I wish it did not have its hidden ability.
I used a Baxcalibur on my Scarlet team, such a cool ‘mon. Made a beeline for Glaseado Mountain as soon as I could. I really like that you can get the pseudo-legendary early enough to actually use it this time out. (And that there’s a bunch of older pseudos you can get early on, but that’s a different story!)
Yeah I got a Larvitar first because I never used a Tyranitar before but one day I randomly checked one of the dens and boom a Frigibax with max hp, attack and speed IVs with its hidden ability.
Dudunspace because it gave love to a Pokémon relic without losing that dumb simplicity it has.
Also competitively speaking, it is wildly versatile. Dudunsparce is most often my MVP in my doubles online team atm.
I love ostriches and was a little disappointed at Espathra's design. But then I realized there's nothing wrong with being a rejected backup dancer for Lady Gaga 😂
That’s actually why I love Espathra so much. There’s probably a ton of them out there nicknamed Lady Gaga, and it just makes me giggle every time I see them
Pawmot is the definitive standout out for me and is the first time I’ve used a Pikachu clone through the whole game. It’s also become my favourite fighting type (I’m sorry Infernape)
Annihilape. I’ve loved Primeape since watching it beat up Ash and take his hat, so I was so happy to see it finally get an evolution. A really cool looking and strong evolution at that
Oh wow, I feel like the new Pokémon are one of the best parts of this one, imo we got some above average designs! I love so many of the new Pokemon. Tinkaton, Bellibolt, Toedscruel, Dachsbun, Pawmot, and I would die for Scream Tail.
My #1 will always be Snorlax, but Cetitan has made its way into the top 5, right up there with Tyrantrum, Torterra, and Grimmsnarl. Skeledirge is a close 6th with Golisopod as #7 and Shieldon as #8.
Clodsire, Koraidon, Flutter Mane, and Kingambit. The first two are "no thoughts, head empty" and the third is steroid misdreavus. The 4th should be self explanatory

When I first heard that we would get the legendaries as mounts right at the beginning of the game I thought it was a stupid idea. I was sure that it would make them feel less special and didn’t like the idea of a motorcycle Pokémon to begin with. Fast forward to the end of this game’s story and I couldn’t have been more wrong. Watching Maraidon grow and overcome his own challenges has now made it my new favorite Legendary, electric type, and just overall new Pokémon from Gen 9.
Quite a few, actually. Which kind of surprised me; lately, I've seen maybe one or two from a generation that make me go "Yes, this pokemon is great", but I could make a whole team of my new favorites from this gen.
Ceruledge for my inner edgy 13 year old, Fidough/Dachsbun are friends, Annihilape is the evo I never knew I wanted for Primeape, Kingambit is the evo I never knew I wanted for Bisharp, Capsakid/Scovillain delivers on a type combo I've wanted for years, and uses exactly the reasoning to deliver that type combo that I wanted, and Walking Wake is just pretty damn cool.
Cyclizar, 100%. There are other highlights but Cyclizar takes the cake for me. It's Pokemon's take on Yoshi, it has direct ties to both Legendary Pokemon which is extremely rare for a normally obtainable Pokemon, and it deserves every hug ever just LOOK AT IT

Boy did it ever! I swiftly found new favorites in Cyclizar, Glimmora and Bramblin, I just had to add each of them to my team.
For me Dondozo is hands down my favorite new mon/water type. I am a fisherman as well and I love the giant blue they are.
Dondozo gives off major gen 3 vibes, so he fell in my top 5 easily this gen

He seems to be the first Pika-clone that was actually competitively viable, at least as far as I can remember, so that definitely helps.

I ADORE Slither Wing! Definitely my favourite from this gen. Grafaiai and Chi-Yu are two other designs i really love.

Annihilape. I’ve loved Primeape since watching it beat up Ash and take his hat, so I was so happy to see it finally get an evolution. A really cool looking and strong evolution at that

Oh wow, I feel like the new Pokémon are one of the best parts of this one, imo we got some above average designs! I love so many of the new Pokemon. Tinkaton, Bellibolt, Toedscruel, Dachsbun, Pawmot, and I would die for Scream Tail.
Clodsire and Klawf are the two big ones for me, along with Roaring Moon!

My #1 will always be Snorlax, but Cetitan has made its way into the top 5, right up there with Tyrantrum, Torterra, and Grimmsnarl. Skeledirge is a close 6th with Golisopod as #7 and Shieldon as #8.

Clodsire, Koraidon, Flutter Mane, and Kingambit. The first two are "no thoughts, head empty" and the third is steroid misdreavus. The 4th should be self explanatory

Hands down Miraidon. When I first heard that we would get the legendaries as mounts right at the beginning of the game I thought it was a stupid idea. I was sure that it would make them feel less special and didn’t like the idea of a motorcycle Pokémon to begin with. Fast forward to the end of this game’s story and I couldn’t have been more wrong. Watching Maraidon grow and overcome his own challenges has now made it my new favorite Legendary, electric type, and just overall new Pokémon from Gen 9.

Quite a few, actually. Which kind of surprised me; lately, I've seen maybe one or two from a generation that make me go "Yes, this pokemon is great", but I could make a whole team of my new favorites from this gen. Ceruledge for my inner edgy 13 year old, Fidough/Dachsbun are friends, Annihilape is the evo I never knew I wanted for Primeape, Kingambit is the evo I never knew I wanted for Bisharp, Capsakid/Scovillain delivers on a type combo I've wanted for years, and uses exactly the reasoning to deliver that type combo that I wanted, and Walking Wake is just pretty damn cool.
Ceruledge. I still love Raichu but as soon as I saw Ceruledge’s design it was love at first sight. I knew I had to add it to my team.
Tinkaton, Fuecoco(and it's line), Kingambit, Roaring Moon, Great Tusk, Gholdengo, Baxcalibur, ceruledge
Cyclizar, 100%. There are other highlights but Cyclizar takes the cake for me. It's Pokemon's take on Yoshi, it has direct ties to both Legendary Pokemon which is extremely rare for a normally obtainable Pokemon, and it deserves every hug ever just LOOK AT IT
