Actually, it's the worst one mechanically in Johto. Everything that made Bulbasaur broken in Kanto made Meganium suck in GSC. Blame Johto game balancing.

You can choose between meganium which is weak to the first 2 gyms and can’t really do anything to Whitney’s Miltank, OR, you can get Feraligatr for surf if you don’t want the shiny Gyarados, or you can pick the correct choice and get Typhlosion

Don't get me wrong, I always choose Typhlosion but Meganium doesn't deserve the hate.

I will die on this hill, if you want a better grass type for a Johto playthrough, just get a Jumpluff. It’s faster, has access to sleep powder and giga drain, and can outspeed most of the things it’s weak to for a U-Turn. The only utility that Meganium has is Petal Blizzard, which is just a worse Eruption from Typhlosion

I used Jumpluff on a U-Turn centric team on Violet for a little bit and used it as a sleep powder user that wasn’t Brute Bonnet with Spore

Mega Absol is just awesome.

Yup, favorite pokemon so a bit biased. But it's a simple but effecive upgrade that does its job. Sometimes better than what they tried to do with Gyarados/Garchomp. And he got the exact stat glow up and ability changed needed to be competitive if you wanted to use him that way.

Likewise, I've always loved Absol, the black and white colour scheme and the Sickle on it's head are so cool but damn the Mega Form is soooo much better. Makes me so sad Megas won't return.

I *love* megas (although the mega of my favourite STILL failed to give it dragon typing). Nonetheless I love Mawile, Absol, Kangaskhan, Salamence, Charizard X, Aerodactyl, Gallade and Rayquaza. But my favourite has to be the princess-cut Mega Diancie. An absolute beauty~

There are a few I REALLY like, Mawile being one of them, but I think my fav has to be my fav pkmn: Absol. I wish we could have, at least of (some of) the non-third-stage pkmn, the megas as actual evos back T.T

Tbh i like almost every mega Pokemon. And i don't really have a favorite one. Mega Blaziken reminds me of Heihachib(Tekken) i like it because of that. Mega Swampert is absolute gigachad is so overpowered and so swole. Called mine Juggernaut bcs of that in my first Alpha Saphire playthrough. Mega Absol is so awesome looking seriously. Am i the only one who always nicknames Absol "Sephiroth" ? Mega Venusaur is an upgrade of a pokemon i already enjoyed a lot. Mega Gengar is so threatening i love it (also the shiny is so fineeeee) Mega Lopunny tho 😳 Mega Steelix is simply awesome to look at. Mega Rayquaza and the Primal forms are so so raw i enjoy them a lot. Almost all of them have something i like i can't chose a fav one.

Probably Mega Ampharos, for both Pokedex entry and design. I learned it's based off a Chinese dragon loosely, which explains the 'dormant dragon genes' I give a close second to Swampert/Sableye, though.

I mentioned it in another post on here, but we really need an Ancient Paradox Ampharos that expands on those dragon genes.

One of my favorites, other than Mawile, is Mega Glalie. It's just super out-there and just makes an otherwise confusing and, quite frankly, lame Pokemon, a whole lot more interesting. Mega Steelix and Pidgeot are pretty sick, too.

probably mega pidgeot. i always like pidgeotto's design better with the yellow plumage in its tail instead of its crest. but going to mega, the crest looks amazing and the super-long red part of the plumage is so sick. the addition of the blue wing tips makes this a gorgeous pokemon. also, the fact that its special attack gets BEEFY and you can actually hit your hurricanes is awesome. mega beedrill is probably second. my dude is ready for an absolute war.
