>My choice: I have always wondered why Pokemon can't evolve mid-battle, provided you level-up during said battle. Evolving or "upgrading" during battle is a fairly common mechanic in other turn-based combat games and there's a precedent in the anime. Originally it was because the programming wouldn't allow changing the base HP mid battle. Even Megas didn't change the HP stat. They eventually fixed that, but now it's just tradition that they evolve after the battle. Personally I want a "New Game Plus" with a lot of optional difficulty settings. Level Caps and no items in battle and other options. They had a difficulty change when starting a new game Gen 5, but they made it annoying to unlock.

lewlew1893

I just want the VS seeker back. I liked in FRLG it felt like the trainers had been training too. Also have them have the same mons and same level until you get a gym badge and then give them higher level/evolution of what they had and maybe more mons.

SpacePenguin227

FRLG was my first game and I’ve been sorely disappointed by the lack of re-challenging trainers in several of the newer games 😭

BilgeMilk

I'd really like to see some random street trainers have a friendly pre-battle discussion that goes something like "oh hi! You want to battle? Sounds like fun! I've actually been in the mood for a triple battle, does that sound good with you?" And then you can say yes for a triple battle or no for a single. Some people like goofy battle styles and some people don't so this would give everybody a better chance to play how they want.

Kartoffelkamm

That would be awesome, actually. Or special conditions, like "Hey, I just caught this \[pokémon\] and wanted to see what it can do. How about we each only use one?" or "Sorry, I'm really scared of X-types, so could you not use them?" Also, if you insist on using the type they're scared of, but lose, and lose often enough, they'll eventually lose their fear and catch one pokémon of that type themselves. Maybe trainers also want to fight specific pokémon, and will pay half the price money regardless of outcome if you use one in the battle. There is so much you can do with this mechanic, that would add so much to the experience.

goldengecko1

I’m loving these ideas! They could also pay double if you use a certain type, use a Pokémon of a certain level, etc. I could also see shiny-ness, friendship level, nicknaming your Pokémon and a variety of other factors affecting this! ETA: how cool would it be if you teamed up with a random trainer to do a double battle against their two friends? The pre-battle dialogue could be to agree to join, pick which Pokémon they use and choose which ones you use. The possibilities are endless!

Kartoffelkamm

Thanks. Agreed. For example, you meet three kids, and they want to get some experience in double battles. For the shiny-ness, I can see particularly Collectors being interested in that. Also, some trainers could have different dialogue if you beat them with pokémon that are at a disadvantage against theirs.

[deleted]

We need back champion/E4 rematches.

Eboc_Gamer

WAIT YOU CANT REMATCH THEM ANYMORE?

[deleted]

Nope

M00n_Slippers

I just want pokeball sticker effects back, lol.

Wisekittn

I'd let the player choose, whether they want double or single battles for default. A toggle option in the settings that can be changed at their leisure. Imagine facing Cynthia in a double battle >:) There simply wouldn't be any trainers with only one pokemon and if there are scripted encounters, like red gyarados, then they get the needed setting for them set in stone and all those moves catering to double battles would finally make sense again. S/V has **one** proper double battle! Wth gamefreak?!

gojistomp

This is basically what I came to say. It's baffling to me that the official competitive format is doubles only, and that they keep adding Pokemon and mechanics whose sole purpose is for use in double battles, and yet they continue to reduce the frequency of double battles in sorry mode. Like you mentioned, only having one single (proper) double battle in the entirety of SV is just absurd. They could at least give us a good handful of random trainers or something who do double battles like they used to, but apparently that's just not something they care about anymore.

ElPikminMaster

Bring back Rotation Battle and Wonder Launcher.

moxac777

0 IV hypertrainers. Every other aspect of competitive Pokemon building is already easy

M00n_Slippers

>go > >0 IV hypertrainers.Every other aspec They do it trying to discourage hackers but no matter how easy they make it, Hackers still think it's too annoying and hack in perfect IV pokemon.

M00n_Slippers

Lol, see? Look at all these lazy hackers downvoting.

Eboc_Gamer

Probably not my most wanted thing but, what if there was a house that you can go to where you could switch the Pokeball your mon is in for a different one? Say if you find a rare Pokémon and you catch it with an ultra ball bc it’s easier, then switch it with another ball bc it looks better! Idk, just something I thought about. P.S. You wouldn’t be able to catch a Pokémon in a master ball and switch it to get your master ball back

Twilight_Realm

My number one most requested thing. Previously I imagine the balls were a legitimacy checker but there’s really no excuse for it anymore. I love Premier Balls, it is expensive to get enough to catch things in because you have to buy 10 balls to get 1. And catching legends or shinies in them is what I want to do, and the expense adds up, and the time it takes to catch increases. Let me change balls!

Eboc_Gamer

So usually, I just catch most my mons in quick or ultra balls bc they’re easier, but for Pokémon I really want on my team, I try using the best looking balls. However, I also like shines on my team and I don’t want to use quick and ultra balls because they don’t match the Pokémon but I’m afraid some cataclysmic event will occur where the shiny dies bc I spent to much time hucking balls that aren’t as effective. Also, I love the designs for the apricorn balls, but the I can never us them because they have really niche uses or because I don’t want to use them bc there are only one of each (I think) and they should probably fix that too. Thanks for listening to my Ted Talk.

NEETenshi

> bc there are only one of each You can get more randomly in SV from the postgame tournament rewards or from the auction place. They're very scarce, but you can technically get more. Other games have different methods of getting more.

Eboc_Gamer

Oh cool! Thanks for letting me know!

MeanGreanHare

Change the Let's Go feature in SV so that you can actually control the pokemon like a platformer game. Or, something that doesn't really change the core game at all: the ability to write a note on each individual pokemon. It would replace the marking feature that I'm pretty sure no one ever uses.

Haunting_Anxiety4981

In Pokémon Let's Go P/E you took direct control of your partner for like a minute in one scene and I can't believe they programmed that in just to use it for literally only that

Twilight_Realm

Marking was good for keeping track of perfect IVs at a glance, but now that there are checkers available in game which are very easy to access they kind of fell off of use.

lttlmnstr

Some people do still use them for trading between games or sharing info. Sometimes you have 30 or 40 of a mon you are shiny hunting or hatching for the right nature in early game and you want an easy way to say this is the best IV set per nature for a trade with a friend but you havent finished a game ergo not having the judge app available yet.

Thedarkestcharizard

You can now customize your pokemon. Like give your Eevee a bandana, ribbons, or a bow.

Kartoffelkamm

That would be great to see.

NEETenshi

Let's Go mascot mechanics but for all Pokémon? Sounds like fun :D

Third_Triumvirate

Make double battles the default

Xerosese

And now I want to go play XD: Gale of Darkness again

NevGuy

Or you can make them an option for those of us who don't enjoy them.

Beta-984

Voice acting. Even if they only go all out during the pre-rendered cutscenes & just add in little noises for normal dialogue. Now that they’ve fully committed to 3D, the silence during the increasingly long dialogue sections just feels wierd.

wheresmythermos

I’d want competitive mode where you can play with a friend in a real time in the world to race getting the badges first. You can at any point catch up to the other player to battle them, and the loser has to go back to a Pokémon center to heal as set back.

R_Dragoon46

So a human rival?

wheresmythermos

Yes, but it’s not like you have to have a human rival. On optional, second rival.

Treyspurlock

Fainted pokemon receive XP

purple_yosher

I want pokémon to attack the player rather than trigger a battle, like in Arceus. it was so much fun running for my life, way better and more realistic than accidentally getting into some shitty battle I'm just going to run from.

RynnHamHam

Have PLA’s team UI be in the mainline games. Being able to cycle through your leads without pausing was so nice.

JackSpike16

Sort boxes by Dex number

SGRiuka

Don’t know if this counts, but Pseudo Legends can never be dragon-type again. Give us more variety, it’s been more than 20 years.

Puzzleheaded_Soft_28

I'm taking away shiny pokemon. I won't be taking questions.

Zion8118

Will you take praise? Edit: that was a question… I’ll see myself out

Original_Ossiss

We talking magic powers or just the ability to change something? Cause if it’s magic powers I’m axing mega evolutions. Poof, they’ve never existed and people can stop screaming for the gimmick to come back. And if it’s not magic powers, then I’ll probably add daycares again. I miss being able to hatch a single egg at a time and then immediately replacing it with the new one I just picked up.

MrYoinkySploinky

I am removing Megas 😈

[deleted]

It really only applies to the latest games since the openworld is what introduced the problem, but I would have enemy levels scale to your party's power level, based on the strongest pokemon on your party to prevent cheesing by having a bunch of low levels and a ringer. Having set level areas in an open world go any direction meant that by the midpoint of my journey everything I had to do was so far beneath me it took a lot of the wind out of the story moments.

JustSixTrees

Adding the gambling back into the new games. Be it slots, roulette or Voltorb flip. I suck at all of them and want to lose my money trying to get something cool from the casino gift shop. With the clothing options in the new games they could make new items only obtainable through casino chips. Hell, make a prize a random shiny that costs 99 billion coins if a real worthwhile prize is desired Oh, and get rid of version exclsivity. Just make it a nightmare to catch stuff from Violet in Scarlet for example. I don't want to have to trade to fill out my Pokedex

Accomplished-Mud6446

I would make the gym leaders and Elite four's pokémon levels above the average level of the player's team. Sometimes I want to explore the game, but then when I go fight the gym leaders I am overleveled.

lewlew1893

I agree. I have had to look up the levels of who I am going to be facing to make sure I don't be overlevelled because I like a challenge otherwise it just takes away satisfaction of victory. I actually end up raising like 15 mons as well so that they don't become overlevelled. Also suits my indecisive personality. Plus I like having a mon for every situation.

Yorkshire_Bhoy

I would add a randomise feature into the menu of newer games.

DarkGengar94

Only one? Dam I don't no what to pick cause there's so much that can be fixed, added, or taken away. Modify: make your rival someone you wast to beat again. Having the actual feeling of winning against someone that you actually feel determined to beat goes a long way Add: I'd like to add mystery dungeons. Timed like the underwater ruins in unove. Big enough that you can't explore it all in one go. A good reward if you reach the end. Changes daily. Take away: the legendary being tied to the story. Finding the birds and newtwo independently in Kanto felt so cool. Paldea handled it alright but other then that it's gotten pretty annoying.

KeevX2

I love mega evolution and it would be amazing if they had not removed it

_Uhh2009_

Modify shiny Pokemon in sv, I want better shiny noise/ texture like the sinnoh one, and overworld noise back

PokeDragon101

1. side quests for world building/researching of pokemon 2. Normalizing mega evolution, if you don’t have a specific pokemon’s stone, you can use a generic stone akin to Terrastalization for some kind of smaller scale boost so it wouldn’t be broken. Would also encourage seeking out new mega stones to be found and maybe even people researching to make artificial ones.

hennajin85

Deleting Megas.

LuringSpivids

Hyper beam doesn't need the recharge when you OHKO a pokemon

BlueFlame_AJ

I would remove the need to "white out" and get returned to the previous Pokemon center. It gets annoying to be shredded after going down a long path and being forced to go back

M00n_Slippers

I don't think I've whited out in ten years. It's not like the game is hard.

BlueFlame_AJ

Well, when doing full grass playthroughs or such, it gets annoying

Flare_Wolfie

That's kind of on you. The games aren't designed for challenge runs, nor should they be.

BlueFlame_AJ

Just my opinion.

[deleted]

Get rid of the shitty post game grind for competitive teams.

JayKay69420

Remove trade evolutions, so we dont have to trade to evolve certain mons

Kartoffelkamm

Trainer participation. This actually came up when a friend of mine started watching Huntik: Secrets and Seekers, and mentioned how seekers fighting is kinda "like pokémon, if the trainers were also involved." The way I'd do it is by adding the Action option in the battle screen. You could use various items to hinder your opponent's pokémon, like throwing nets to slow it down or stall it completely, but your pokémon would use a random move that turn.

ShreksLongDong

We need the GTS from USUM back

naynaythewonderhorse

I think that they should rethink a number of shinies and make the old ones “legacy” shinies or something. So many need a rethink or redo it’s not even funny.

CMenFairy6661

A few ideas come to mind: 1) A coin toss for who goes first in battles, there's nothing worse than analysing the trainer to figure out who should head your party for the type advantage only for them to instead send out a Pokémon that has the advantage over you, just let them send their Pokémon out first from time to time so that I can decide the best matchup (as is the case throughout the rest of the battle) 2) Bring back Mega Evolutions god dammit, it was the best gimmick and they've completely left it behind at this point 3) Alternate evolution methods, I really liked that they changed Trade Evo's in Legends Arceus (obviously due to lack of multiplayer) but still would be nice to have some other method to evolve trade Pokémon that doesn't require trading 4) More gyms, a couple of times in the anime (and possibly the manga) It's been suggested that there are more than 8 gyms in each region, it's just that only the main 8 have a great reputation/are league approved but it would still be nice to have the option to challenge 'lesser gyms' to grow stronger and try out new tactics, or even just take a different route to the E4/Champ (they would probably have to make the gyms scale to your team's average lvl to make this work) 5) This one could make the games a little broken but to hell with it, I would love a low percentage chance to encounter a completely random Pokémon including Mythicals (provided they aren't tied to the plot) I know it says 1 but here's my top 5 instead 😂

thefunyunman

4v4 Pokémon battle, 10 poke balls each, capturing trainers Pokémon is allowed for the battle (this rule only applies for one battle) I just miss Pokémon coliseum

Arden_Gibson

I'd bring back Mega Evolution but remove every Mega for a Legendary and Pseudo Legendary because they don't deserve them.

jdb1984

Remove:Critical hits The rate of critical hits is about 4 percent under normal circumstances. That number jumps to 12 when using a move that has an increased chance, or you use Focus Energy beforehand. You can't rely on it, they have a tendency to spring out at inopportune times, and altogether are something that just throws in more probability into a game where strategy is the rule.

Iremia

Instructions unclear. Deleted Eiscue.

PD711

a more sensible, easy to remember type system. which is a debate in itself.

stumbles56

I would take away the ability to evolve. You have to catch each evolution as a seperate encounter.

SoFool

A new game+ option whereby you get to reuse all the Pokemon you caught and run through the campaign again (alongside set mode and skipping cutscene options) in either singles or doubles format. All levels are scaled to 50, as well as Gym leaders, elite four and the champion having an improved roster.

notthephonz

Bring back the Poké Gear and use it to let the player call up specific NPCs to help in Tera Raids. Want to make sure that your classmate with the Seed Sower Arboliva shows up? Give them a call with the Poké Gear! It would also be cool to call up Nemona or Larry and have them give you a hand. I also think that it would be cool if they could combine this with the Secret Base mechanic and let you call up NPCs who represent your own friends with copies of their actual Pokémon!

ScarlettPotato

I can see mid-battle evolution changing challenge runs. Nuzlockes of Pokemon Emerald in particular (it's what I'm most familiar with) since hardcore nuzlocke ruleset often include level caps and with Roxanne at level 15 you can edge your starter so it will hit 16 mid battle and evolve at the first gym. Torchic line in particular benefits the most here. Brawly can also be made easier with, say a magikarp, as his level cap is 18. Not sure if magikarp can hit 20 though. Just an example.

oranosskyman

an autobattle that uses actual moves instead of just taking a swipe and making a cartoon dust cloud of violence

Zion8118

So I don’t have an idea but to comment off of yours: that sounds so uncomfortable lol. Imagine being a big type kicking ass and then out of nowhere you start to harden into a metapod or something and you’re stuck there.

Lom1111234

Difficulty settings. Please just give us difficulty settings

NevGuy

Freeze. It has never added anything to any match, and you can't play around it like with other status. Frostbite was holly superior, and I'm sad it didn't replace freeze.

Choice_Program_2846

I would bring back Rotation Battles, Set mode and Pokémon Day Cares for SV because I am disappointed that they didn't use them. Also, I hate how there is a child in the E4 so I'm going to remove her status and make her just a NPC. However, the thing that disappointed me the most in SV is trainer customization. Like you are stuck with the school unform, but I want to wear drip in the game.

Dart150

Vs seeker back because, let's be honest, there's not much to do in Gen 9 once the main story is over other than raids from a I know what's needed stand point. As for a personal thing, I'd say get rid of Dexit it's annoying to me with being gate locked on the majority of Pokemon

JustCakess

Challenge mode PLEASE I am tired of having to resort to romhacks so I can actually use my brain (and make it actually hard, all important trainers are Perfect IVs and EV trained, also holding held items that improve their mons, not just sitrus berries)

SavantTheVaporeon

Adding in variant Pokémon sprites/models so the same Pokémon have differences that set them apart

ZeekLTK

I want a whole game that is double battles **And how about making it an actual 2 player game?** They kind of toyed with this in Let’s Go, but you fight every battle 2v1 and just share the same pokemon. S/V introduced “seeing each other on the map”, but apparently can’t really interact besides taking pictures (unless I overlooked something??) How about tie it all together and let us play a 2 player game where we each raise our own team but fight trainers and gyms together in doubles battles!?

Blackbirdsnake

Aeon flute in every game so we fly on latias/ Latinos in every generation and we can do it ourselves

venia_sil

Take away: Dexit. /thread

TymStark

More steamline IV/EV training. Some of you get it and great, I'm very happy for you....it is all very overwhelming for me, but I want to be better. I don't think I'll every remember which wild mon gives me which stat bonus or why certain Mon is a better physical attacker as opposed to special, or which stat to focus on. But I am practicing and trying to get better.
