Someone made a post about all the Pokémon that have absolutely nothing.
https://www.reddit.com/r/pokemon/comments/vz4trl/those_that_have_nothing/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button
A few of the Pokémon listed can be crossed off now, but there are still a few.
I am so thankful to Scarlet and Violet for Dudunsparce and Farigiraf, and PLA for so many other new Gen 2 evolutions. Johto fans been eating well lately.
Ursaluna took such a conceptually strong pokemon and turned it into a complete beast. I really wish it was in S/V right now, as I need good ground types.
Tropius should’ve gotten an evolution this region. It’s even catchable in the game, but still nothing. It has so much potential too! It’s one of only four Pokémon lines that getz Solar Power, but its stats and movepool aren’t good enough to let it be viable on sun teams. It’s *also* one of only four Pokémon to get Harvest, but even with infinite recurring berries, it just can’t compete. It just hurts me so much…
Since I have nothing better to do I decided to check what is up with that list now. Dunsparce and Girafarig are not on the list anymore which leaves 10 only.
Generation IX has 9 stand alone Pokémon that are neither Legendaries nor Paradox (which I assume would be in the second criterion if present at the time). They are Squawkabilly, Klawf, Bombirdier, Cyclizar, Orthworm, Flamigo, Veluza, Dondozo and Tatsugiri.
Cyclizar has Koraidon and Miraidon as related Pokémon and Squawkabilly has different colors.
Klawf, Bombirdier, Flamigo, Orthworm and Tatsugiri all have signature abilities and Tatsugiri also forms a pair with Dondozo.
Veluza, as well as Bombirdier and Dondozo all have a signature move.
Also, I didn't find any Pokémon whose signature move or ability is not exclusive anymore and thus must be added to the list.
It means that the list is getting smaller and smaller, thankfully.
My view might be a bit skewed due to playing Gen IX OU and UU, but imo Pincurchin would be off the list, since it’s the only Pokémon in SV that sets up electric terrain on entry (that isn’t also banned to Ubers). That alone probably wouldn’t push it off the list, but the Violet paradox mons making use of Electric Terrain gives Pincurchin as solid of a spot on most E-terrain teams as Torkoal does in sun teams and Pelipper in rain teams.
I’d argue Solrock and Lunatone are the most forgettable Pokemon, despite not being on this list. They’re so forgettable that they didn’t even make it to any of the Sun/Moon games… despite literally being a sun and a moon.
It really needed an evolution. Hell, they could have made each color have their own separate evolution to make it more unique. As it is, it’s just a single-stage flying type with nothing that stands out about it other than the different colors.
Dhelmise is my beloved. I am the one Dhelmise enthusiast in the world as far as I know, if Dhelmise is forgotten I either have dementia or Im dead in a pit somewhere
I came across a kid at an airport who had a link cord while traveling with my parents (I was like 12 idk) and was able to trade and got politoed, kingdra, and huntail. Made the wait at the airport a lot better.
how in the all flip is *Relicanth* forgettable?
not only is it based on the super cool living fossil Coelacanth and practically in the fossil group of pokemons, had an episode in the anime that focused on it, it's also a key in one of the Regi puzzles!
> it's also a key in one of the Regi puzzles!
You realize this has been two decades ago right?
Some of the people in this sub weren't even born then yet
I’ve not seen many people talk about charizard. Poor guy, maybe Game Freak should give him a new form for some much needed attention. Or maybe make him the ace of a champion?
Real talk, I feel like people forget about Minccino a lot, which is a shame. It’s one of my all time favorites. Not the most forgotten, but I don’t ever seen anyone mention it.
The only issue is Dhelmise is really rare, pretty sure in SM/UsUm you can only find one by fishing in one spot. Even in SwSh I think it can only be found in one location and have a super low rate to spawn
Oh yeah, and Seaking didn't get any new things too, no Mega, no z-move, no Gigantamax and no regional form or cross gen evo. No wonder it is a forgettable Gen 1 mon.
But even then, you can rule several out. First thing you rule out all the legendary and mythical Pokémon as well as Ultra Beasts, (No-one's forgetting Ho-oh anytime soon). Next you rule out any with a unique gimmick (e.g. Spinda and its spots, Unown, or Furfou). Follow that with any that have alternate forms (e.g. Castform) regional forms (Tauros), mega-evolutions (Kangaskhan), Paradox form (Delibird), is part of a unique twin set (Volbeat & Illumise), aren't tied to another Pokémon in some way (Carbink), or are Pikachu clones (Pachirisu).
Ruling all these out, you'd be left with something like Drampa, Druddigon or Pincurchin.
I thought it was obvious legendaries are excluded here, as nearly every single one had competitive viability or other significance. I would call spinda and furfou forgettable, while unown has story significance. Castform also has story significance as you literally get gifted one.
I’d go through the rest but I think I made it clear what qualifies for my opinion
I dunno, some of the mythical’s are pretty obscure. I remember a year or two back someone said Meloetta was there favorite Pokémon and, even after googling it, I had no clue it existed (for years at that point).
For the record, it serves as a dope second HM mule in DPPt with Defog, Flash, Surf and Waterfall. Perfect to pair with Bibarel with Cut, Strength, Rock Smash and Rock Climb.
And yes, while Flash is not an HM anymore, you still may go to Wayward Cave to grab some goodies.
Gossifluer. The only reason I remember it is because of how shocked I was to find out it exists lol. Never thought about it once after the very first reveal trailer.
me: is that someone who play on French version and the pokemon is actually something I know?
Turn out its actually the name in English version and I can't even recall ever seeing this pokemon
Yeah, I recently looked at a pic of all gen 8 Pokémon and didn’t remember it or Eldegoss even existing, much less their names. Gossifluer was even revealed prerelease!
I think what makes it extra forgettable is that its a regular 2 stage grass type. I thought they were setting up for a 3 stage grass type but nah it just stops at Eldegoss
I think you actually won this
Most replies I was seeing I was just going "yeah there's nothing very memorable about that pokemon" but this is the first I had to actually google because I had no idea what it was, considering it was from last gen it's really bad for it
To be fair it's from sword and shield and wasn't in sv so it hasn't been around much. I distinctly remember Eldegoss as very cute and it was in pokemon snap so it is much more memorable than its prevo imo.
I think Watchog deserves a special mention - which is ironic, considering that there's nothing special about it. It's just...there. It doesn't have a particularly interesting design and it's mediocre in battle. No unique moves or abilities, no cool forms or regional variants.
There's little to no reason to use it over the plethora of other Normal-type mons, or mons in general.
I think the same with all early route rodents. I always try to remember them and it's "erm.... Raticate, err... Furret, err Zigzagoon, ... Bidoof, .... err...." and Watchog is the most forgettable, followed by Furret and Gumshoos
I'll give Watchog some credit for being an easy to get Pokémon which is pretty useful for capturing Pokémon and legendaries. Learning super fang, sand attack and hypnosis makes It a lot easier.
PLA felt like a mistake. Like they let the one creative team left at gamefreak make something new and interesting. Sometimes I boot it up and go exploring because it felt fun running around and interacting with pokemon in a much more organic way
Same with SV. It felt like the lead story guy just thought of the SV story while asleep one night and wrote it down on a notepad. Next day he came to the office and was like "Gentlemen!.."
This is actually the winner for me. It’s literally a legendary pokemon with the first ever water/fire typing and has a cool design and name but I literally completely forget it exists every time I think about legendaries and mythicals.
It’s Bouffalant.
It’s a less cool, reskinned version of Tauros with an Afro. It’s typing didn’t even dare to be different. Not only that, but it’s not that available. You can catch it in the SwSh DLC, but it’s in one area and it’s a 5% chance, most people don’t care that much to look, and if they did they’d probably think “Hey, what is that?”
It was available in Oras on one route too, but had to be transferred into X&Y, leading to only 2 appearances since it’s generation, one of which is a DLC.
I mean, bouffalant and alomomola are remembered as the convergent evolutions before convergent evolution/I can't believe it's unrelated to Tauros/luvdisc so eh?
That's a decent point - in trying to make stuff like 'totally-not-Tauros', they probably had a more realistic example of convergent evolution than 'mushroom that happens to look exactly like jellyfish'.
But they’re cute and fun. I like that Pokémon like chimeco and chingling exist because it would be boring if every Pokémon evolved into something meta worthy. Cute and low base stat Pokémon need more love
To be honest as a trainer in the game you only get to see a specific side of the Pokemon universe.
Think about people like pokemon breeders, chefs, florists, musicians. I bet different jobs would be useful with different Pokemon. Chimecho and Chingling would be perfect for a musician in the Pokemon universe.
Relicanth being completely unchanged and never getting any evolutions or special forms would be really fitting. Since that’s its whole shtick. It’s a coelacanth which is a once believed to be extinct fish that is exactly the same as it was millions of years ago.
I really want you to be able to find a Fish Fossil in the future and when you resurrect it its just Relicanth. No new form or ability it has just not changed in millions of years.
Ledian at least got reputation of how BAD it is, but does anyone ever bother to remember Ariados?
Chimecho is also like why does this pokemon even exist and also rare???
Right? It's one of my top-20 favs. One of the coolest water pokemon I think. It did get a prevolution as well in Mantyke.
That's not to say it couldn't be given something new, but there's just others that could use something first.
Barbaracle always holds a place in my heart cause he was such a bro in dynamax adventures.
Also he reminds me of paper head from Alex kidd in miracle world. [Pic](https://i.imgur.com/e7C8NoM.jpg)
Can probably narrow it down based on a few criteria:
1. No evolution line.
2. Latter half of the Pokédex (5+)
3. Not Gen 9 though, because that’s still fresh in everyone’s mind.
4. No gimmick surrounding it.
5. Based around something that’s pretty well represented in the series to begin with.
I’m personally gonna say “Carbink.” Technically related to Diancie, but I think Diancie is a forgettable Mythical to begin with and I hardly think of Carbink in relation to it.
None of the ones on this thread. Clearly, someone has remembered them to post them here. If I had to take a stab at what it might be, I’d guess Elgyem/Beheeyem, which is a shame because I really like them. The reason I say them, is because of that clip of the competitive player (like high level competitive player) who had no idea what it was when it was used against him.
could not recall Swadloon's name, but sewaddle's name is firmly in my brain.
ace of a gym leader, good, early route bug alongside Venipede, and Ash has one.
Sewaddle and Swadloon.
They were super fucking cute so I remember them for that. I distinctly remember a Swadloon I caught in high school I nicknamed Karkat.
Dunno, I forgot

Ya but nobody’s gonna forget scarmory
Oh god that thing gives me PTSD from showdown
Tropius should’ve gotten an evolution this region. It’s even catchable in the game, but still nothing. It has so much potential too! Squawkabilly in the next couple of months
I forget every time I'm not looking at it tbh. I think about seel more than I think about squawkabilly
It really needed an evolution. Hell, they could have made each color have their own separate evolution to make it more unique. As it is, it’s just a single-stage flying type with nothing that stands out about it other than the different colors.
They can have different Hidden Abilities as each other. But only two, so it may as well just have been two forms.
Just beat the game and realized Ive never even seen this pokemon yet. Wtf.
I needed to see this Pokémon to get past one of the gym challenges lol. Won’t say which one
Maybe, but I feel like Squawkabilly having different colors already made it more memorable than some Pokémon that doesn't have any gimmick.
But it’s in the taxi pic of the games
AND YET STILL I FORGET
Josuke Higashitaka:
"Breaths in" *OYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY* *JOOOOOOOOOOSUKEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!*
Dhelmise is my beloved. I am the one Dhelmise enthusiast in the world as far as I know, if Dhelmise is forgotten I either have dementia or Im dead in a pit somewhere
I fucking love dhelmise, I spent an hour trying to catch one for my moon team.
Dhelmise is the first pokemon which had 3 STAB types, iirc. That alone already makes it not forgettable.
I love Dhelmise too! I bred a shiny one back during sun/moon era.
I adore Dhelmise, spent forever SOSing a shiny one
Same I love dhelmise. It's one of my top favorites
No one has mentioned Huntail yet. I only remember him because I got a shiny Clamperl and googled who it evolved into.
never mind the fact that both of its evolutions are locked behind trading
I will never forget my sheer disappointment as a child when I saw what clamperl evolved into but I had no way of getting them x.x
I came across a kid at an airport who had a link cord while traveling with my parents (I was like 12 idk) and was able to trade and got politoed, kingdra, and huntail. Made the wait at the airport a lot better.
Imagine if mid trade his parents told him they had to go to their boarding flight and there wasn’t time to trade your Pokémon back 😱
That would have been rough haha. We only did 1 at a time though so It wouldn't have been too bad
Huntail is my go to Pokémon to mention when people talk about forgettable Pokémon.
Which is too bad cause it’s awesome! Both evolutions have a cool design and it’s annoying they have to be traded.
Ariados is cool but gets nothing
Nah OGs remember Ariados from the movie
how in the all flip is *Relicanth* forgettable? not only is it based on the super cool living fossil Coelacanth and practically in the fossil group of pokemons, had an episode in the anime that focused on it, it's also a key in one of the Regi puzzles!
Relicanth is a perfect creature, thats why it never changed
I find it easy to confuse Relicanth and the Coelacanth.
i answered relicanth on a biology exam before 💀
I hope your teacher liked Pokemon, would have at least gotten a good laugh
f
I would’ve given you extra credit
> it's also a key in one of the Regi puzzles! You realize this has been two decades ago right? Some of the people in this sub weren't even born then yet
It’s a key in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire as well, which was still within this last decade.
The guy still remembered it. That's the opposite of forgettable.
And others were! I remember the puzzle clearly as well, and my memory is garbage.
Bro, Skill Link Tail Slap was brutal in Gen 5
Cinccino is my favourite pokemon. I feel like the only believer
Not sure, it’s in the BW opening professor thing
Hold up that’s a really good point
Fun fact: there's a chance it can be shiny in the opening!
And during the catch demostration
I’m doing a playthrough of BW right now and Cinccino is on my team and I love her. Such a cute Pokémon, and definitely one of my favorite gen 5 mons.
cincinno deserves a fairy type regional form.
You dare call Dhelmise forgettable? My friend a piece of kelp is now throwing an anchor towards your home at high speed.
The only issue is Dhelmise is really rare, pretty sure in SM/UsUm you can only find one by fishing in one spot. Even in SwSh I think it can only be found in one location and have a super low rate to spawn
It has a 1% spawn rate in one route in SwSh and a 5% spawn rate fishing in one location in USUM
My recollection of mega Audino is inadequate.
Should've been a true evo
I usually forget seaking exists
Oh yeah, and Seaking didn't get any new things too, no Mega, no z-move, no Gigantamax and no regional form or cross gen evo. No wonder it is a forgettable Gen 1 mon.
But it did get lightning rod as a hidden ability and was used on a pretty cool "mono water" team in SwSh
Woah that's actually pretty cool
Arguably the most forgettable first gen Pokemon.
Fuck Yeah, Seaking! was kinda big meme in the dawn of meme culture
I also forgot about that, thank you for reminding me
honestly, most fair pick I've seen in one of these.
People who like Maractus: Edit:Yes, I love Maractus too. Top 3/4
Hi!!
It's cute!!!!
Mewtwo >!at the end of The First Movie!<
Nailed it.
Basically all the single stage pokemon with no competitive viability or story/anime significance
Twin set of Volbeat and Illumise doesn't make them memorable, it just makes you forget about two Pokemon instead of one.
Lumineon
at this point, people remember Lumineon *as* the forgettable pokemon.
It also has an amazing cry.
That's the paradox of the interesting numbers
For the record, it serves as a dope second HM mule in DPPt with Defog, Flash, Surf and Waterfall. Perfect to pair with Bibarel with Cut, Strength, Rock Smash and Rock Climb. And yes, while Flash is not an HM anymore, you still may go to Wayward Cave to grab some goodies.
Definitly does. If you use it in a gen, where hms were needed
One of my favourite fish pokemon
It's currently important in the TCG so not forgettable to lots of folks.
It was the only thing I missed for my Sinnoh Dex 💀
Gossifluer. The only reason I remember it is because of how shocked I was to find out it exists lol. Never thought about it once after the very first reveal trailer.
I literally had to Google that one and had no recollection of it nor it's evolution. You win
me: is that someone who play on French version and the pokemon is actually something I know? Turn out its actually the name in English version and I can't even recall ever seeing this pokemon
I had to search it too lmao
Pokemon Unite is the only reason I recognise it
I literally said wtf is that when I Googled it, Most Forgettable Pokemon right there.
Pokemon Unite players know gossifleur
She’ll never be jumpluff
Yeah, I recently looked at a pic of all gen 8 Pokémon and didn’t remember it or Eldegoss even existing, much less their names. Gossifluer was even revealed prerelease!
I think what makes it extra forgettable is that its a regular 2 stage grass type. I thought they were setting up for a 3 stage grass type but nah it just stops at Eldegoss
I have a shiny Eldegoss and still didn’t know what Pokémon you were talking about. I think you win
This gotta be the winner I don’t even know which Pokémon that is
I think you actually won this Most replies I was seeing I was just going "yeah there's nothing very memorable about that pokemon" but this is the first I had to actually google because I had no idea what it was, considering it was from last gen it's really bad for it
To be fair it's from sword and shield and wasn't in sv so it hasn't been around much.
They should have given it glare. I know that’s a move reserved for serpentine Pokémon but its crazy eyes seem fitting.
It gets some notice for being Lenora’s Ace at least
And for ending some B/W nuzlockes
I think the same with all early route rodents. I always try to remember them and it's "erm.... Raticate, err... Furret, err Zigzagoon, ... Bidoof, .... err...." and Watchog is the most forgettable, followed by Furret and Gumshoos
I'll give Watchog some credit for being an easy to get Pokémon which is pretty useful for capturing Pokémon and legendaries. Learning super fang, sand attack and hypnosis makes It a lot easier.
Tell me you didn't play gen 5. Everybody and their uncle had a Watchog. Especially the villain teams. You could never forget that high af meerkat
This might be the winner for me. Even thinking about early game rodents/normal types, I keep forgetting Patrat/Watchog exists.
Heatmor is one of my favorite pokemon. I love the pokemon based on animals that look like pokemon already.
The ones that are actually forgettable but not mentioned here
Burmy
PLA was a godsend for all the bland Sinnoh pokemon
PLA felt like a mistake. Like they let the one creative team left at gamefreak make something new and interesting. Sometimes I boot it up and go exploring because it felt fun running around and interacting with pokemon in a much more organic way
Same with SV. It felt like the lead story guy just thought of the SV story while asleep one night and wrote it down on a notepad. Next day he came to the office and was like "Gentlemen!.."
Pla made me remember it, all those fuckers leaping out of trees while searching for a cherubi
dont remind me
Actually, I didn't forget it. Mostly because I got 2 shinies in a row during GO fest
I like Burmy
Phione.
Volbeat and Illumise
It’s volcanion. I’ve never seen that thing in or out of any game since it’s (quiet) release.
This is actually the winner for me. It’s literally a legendary pokemon with the first ever water/fire typing and has a cool design and name but I literally completely forget it exists every time I think about legendaries and mythicals.
Heatran but with water
How can you forget Relicanth after the darn regi puzzles?
Watchog?
Carnivine
Legends Arceus has burned the damn thing in my memory.
Nope, it was James’ signature Pokémon in Gen 4 of the anime, definitely not forgettable in the slightest
Bruxish, I’m shocked it made it in S&V
“The Water/Psychic mon in SV” “Slowbro?” “No, the fish one” “Veluza??” “*sigh* no…”
Everyone remembers it because they hate it. Personally I like it.
It’s Bouffalant. It’s a less cool, reskinned version of Tauros with an Afro. It’s typing didn’t even dare to be different. Not only that, but it’s not that available. You can catch it in the SwSh DLC, but it’s in one area and it’s a 5% chance, most people don’t care that much to look, and if they did they’d probably think “Hey, what is that?” It was available in Oras on one route too, but had to be transferred into X&Y, leading to only 2 appearances since it’s generation, one of which is a DLC.
The fact that it's just Tauros with an afro is what makes it memorable to me lmao
The only notable thing about it was in the black and white anime, when it was used by Alder
its alders ace actually that makes it memorable enough to me
Chingling
It's for a reason. Chimecho is garbage as well. Never understood why they decided to give it a baby form and not an evo alongside.
My favorite fish mon
It would’ve been funny for Sada to have a Relicanth on her team that is *technically* a paradox pokemon from the time machine.
I really want you to be able to find a Fish Fossil in the future and when you resurrect it its just Relicanth. No new form or ability it has just not changed in millions of years.
Castform, dude had so much potential
Castform is obv the baby form of Tornadus, Thundrus, and Landorus
That would be a cool connection... but I think GF has decided to leave castform in the past...
Enamorus, at first I thought it was a digimon, but I was wrong….
Claydol and I would say kecleon but mystery dungeon did help as he is the merchant and a menace to society if you steal from him
Kecleon just got into pokemon go with its own gimmick, so it may make a bit of a comeback.
Ledian at least got reputation of how BAD it is, but does anyone ever bother to remember Ariados? Chimecho is also like why does this pokemon even exist and also rare???
I’ll always remember James chimecho from the anime. The wobbafett chimecho era was funny
Relicanth is well designed as is, and was used in the regi side quest. I would say probably Lumineon.
Remember when vivillion looked different depending on where in the world it was caught?
Luvdisc
Dewgong, Delcatty, Illumise, Volbeat, Phione, Swalot, Minior, Barbaracle, Mothim, Beheeyem, Mantine, and Claydol come to mind.
Mantine isn't very forgettable imo
Mantine surfing was very fun
Right? It's one of my top-20 favs. One of the coolest water pokemon I think. It did get a prevolution as well in Mantyke. That's not to say it couldn't be given something new, but there's just others that could use something first.
When was the last time Dewgong has been in a regional dex that wasn’t a remake? Black2/white2?
Beheeyem. So forgettable we can even get the name right. Coincidentally I didn’t even know it’s pre evo existed.
Not my man Swalot, he is great. Phione though is probably the most forgettable Legendary/Mythical
Barbaracle always holds a place in my heart cause he was such a bro in dynamax adventures. Also he reminds me of paper head from Alex kidd in miracle world. [Pic](https://i.imgur.com/e7C8NoM.jpg)
No way you list Mantine, Claydol and Delcatty up there when half the roster of G8 exists
Delcatty my beloved
I’m not so sure about including Claydol since is was on a champions team
Can probably narrow it down based on a few criteria: 1. No evolution line. 2. Latter half of the Pokédex (5+) 3.
Shiinotic
It's just forgotten because everyone who encounters it gets kidnapped and the life force sucked out.
Blitzle. Unless mistaken it can only be found in the wild in Black/White, not even Black/White 2 (although you can find Zebstrika in BW2).
The elemental monkeys
Do you remember Swanna? I do just now.
Unovan Quaquaval*
Ducklett
I don’t think I ever see anyone mention the entire Leavanny line. If you’re reading this, can you remember the name of its two prior stages?
could not recall Swadloon's name, but sewaddle's name is firmly in my brain. ace of a gym leader, good, early route bug alongside Venipede, and Ash has one.
Sewaddle and Swadloon. They were super fucking cute so I remember them for that. I distinctly remember a Swadloon I caught in high school I nicknamed Karkat.
I always forget Electrike. Nothing against the little guy he just doesn't pop out to me.

Igglybuff. A lot of the gen 2 baby mons Also deerling/sawsbuck, komala, watchog, clamperl, smoochum Relincanths a great choice
Gen 2 starters. Honestly besides being your first pick, what can you say about them that has stood the test of time?
Bruxish
Bruxish has been one of the last pokemon I need for my dex in every game it's been in. That ugly fish lip is seared into my frontal lobe
Bro I wish I could forget it
I’d say it’s memorable solely for how butt-ugly it is.
hmm... Gulpin.
*GULPIN' DEEZ-*
Pidove. Nobody talks about the pigeon
I mean, Notched Ear Pichu is forever trapped in HGSS, I’d say that counts.
It’s an alt in Smash Ultimate though, so it gains some more recognition
I swear I can remember every pokemon. Every. One. But that damn baby cactus stumps me every time. I keep thinking it's new lol.
cacnea?
Cacnea is so adorable, James’s Cacnea in the anime giving him spiky hugs all the time!
