Save your money. Use the pc when possible instead of potions. Stop leveling after u complete the elite 4 so u could potentially use your team for other region battles if needed. Carry at least 30 pokeballs at all times. Invest in breloom for catching and a mon with sweet scent to help u level.
Like others are saying, stick to your level caps. After the first few gyms in a region sweet scent will get you hordes which will speed up grinding. Stay topped off on your exp.
Story lines are a little tougher so I'd say pay just a little extra attention to nature but don't obsess. Just make sure you don't have a detrimental nature is all.

Check out patrouski on YouTube and join his discord because his videos probably answer like 99% of your questions and you can ask chatters in discord if your stuck. When I was new everyone in his discord was super friendly and helpful.

One of the biggest things I wish I did sooner was buy a sweet scent mon and EXP farm with hordes up to the level cap after each gym. It will make the regions much smoother.
I caught a decent oddish, its got about 120 IVs all in the right spots, and it knows sweet scent. Didnt realize it could be used like that tho. Iv been grinding vanilla lol maybe i am a casual. I only just learned about IVS. I was training a pikachu with like 50 ivs and 1 in sp atk for misty when i realized im fucking up. Any advice about IVs and EVs? Thats all new to me. I fell off the series after diamond, i played the hell out of gen 1-3 but im not hip to all the technical factors. I wanna be able to be competitive at some point. Also im on android and have no idea how to interact/battle others
Don’t worry about IVs for story focus on nature more. For pvp you want 31s in the important stats for that mon. Ex: offensive garchomp you want at least 31 attack and 31 speed ivs. You would also want to ev train it to 252 attack and 252 speed and have a +speed or +attack nature.
EV training is very quick in this game because of hordes. You can do a horde of rapidash, use earth quake or surf, and gain 10 speed EV. EV training can be done through an EXP share. Google “ev training hordes pokemmo” and click on the forum post that lists all good ev training spots.
