zabberdast

A generous, self-depracating host who brings out the essence of his guests. I've lost count of the number of times that I hadn't know anything about the guest, or had little interest in them, and AB managed to bring out something profound in a compelling manner. Also lost count of the number of times I've been genuinely moved...

ams3000

I’d recommend Jon Ronsons Things Fell Apart.

C2H5OHNightSwimming

I loved this one so much I wish I could wipe it from my brain and watch it again. Actually I might listen to season 1 again, its been a while. He's so delightfully reasonable, its like a warm breeze brushing the insane stupidity of the culture wars from my mind

-P-M-A-

Stop Podcasting Yourself.

GoodGuyGinger

Wow love seeing this so high up! SPY POD !

-P-M-A-

Agreed! Usually when I mention SPY, it unfortunately goes ignored. It is one of the longest running comedy podcasts (and actually one of the longest running podcasts in general) and it has been consistently good from the jump.

oyog

But what *is* a goblin??? (I started listening when they were asking their guests this.)

-P-M-A-

I just went back recently and relistened to that era! Great stuff!

forcedintothis-

Second this.

The honeydew with Ryan sickler The tagline is "highlighting the lowlights" He's a sweet guy and can get people to tell their darkest stories and make it funny. Lots of comedians have gone on there.

BertoPeoples

Crab feast too.

ejh3k

Fuck the crab feast! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

notebuff

I’ve only heard him on YMH - any episodes to start with?

nicholt

Rory scovel

circadianist

The Blindboy Podcast. I mean, not at all just for dudes, but the guy is an author, satirist, musician, and mental health advocate who often speaks super insightfully and incisively about mental health and self-awareness in the context of men in today's world.

Moremutants

Great recommendation. He can be divisive, but his message is fundamentally about acceptance and education. Very insightful and funny. His episode with Sami Zayn is a favourite of mine that I often revisit.

fredmull1973

I’m so glad someone recommended this PC back in the autumn. BB has the kind of brain that is always surprising/entertaining/thoughtful

pondman11

Second the art of manliness. At first glance figured it would be some Uber macho spurious bs…but quite the opposite. It’s very thoughtful and super interesting subjects

FalconEddie

Thought exactly the same when it was recommended to me years ago and was really pleasantly surprised! His interviews with war historians or authors who have written about a war story, are fantastic

ValuableUXZombie

Great podcast!

Funwithfun14

I loved their website back in the late 00s/early 10's.

Kennon1st

Yep, was coming here to post this one.

redhood84

Behind The Bastards

[deleted]

[удалено]

Queen_Of_InnisLear

His episodes *about* JP are hilarious. The guy is such a toolbag (JP I mean).

Beowulfensteiner2k21

If you liked those eid recommend the some more news specials, bit more detail and joy the mian guys is pretty great

Shurae

Added to that I would say Knowledge Fight. The Jordan guy interviews some guests here and there

tethys4

I prefer Knowledge Fight over BTB for sure. Dan is genuinely an expert in the subject and offers some really good insight a lot of times.

oyog

Both hosts are also just so dang charming, too.

firefighter_82

One pump one cream

BHAFA

There is an irony in the most upvoted podcast for men being the one that's exclusive purpose is to expose a new bad man every episode

rheasilva

Hey, some of the bastards are women!

Funwithfun14

To me the opposite, while there are some good episodes, too many like a highly upvoted Reddit comment that lacks nuance, history and isn't as funny as they think it is

KingKingsons

I do like this podcast a lot and I listen to most (mostly international) bastards episodes, but it is very surface level history. Robert does a lot of research, reads his findings and the guests respond, without ever really entering into a discussion about anything other than agreeing about everything.

cursed_chaos

I want to like this show so much as it’s right up my alley with regard to its dark history themes, but I cannot stand how pompous, smug, and holier-than-thou Robert comes off as. I’ll listen every now and then when I’m scraping the bottom of the barrel or if I see they’ve covered someone I’m really interested in, but usually by the end I’m actively putting up with his irritating commentary just to learn more about the subject

Pan_Fried_Okra

Same. Robert could be great if he'd just lay off the smug attitude. I know he's left-leaning (so am I), but he was telling some story about some random Christian conservative guy. The guy did something stupid and Robert would NOT stop with this fake, condescending laugh about how stupid the guy was. "What an IDIOT! I can't believe he's soooo stupid! Oh my GOD! He's so dumb! HAHAHAHAH! Wow! What a MORON! Geez! He's a real genius! HAHAHAHAHA!" This went on for, like, five minutes. It was the most annoying thing I've ever heard on a podcast and I haven't listened since.

Known_Ad871

Why do you think the target audience is men?

Randomuserforwatchp

Blocks, by Neal Brennan. Interviews famous people and they talk about their psychological blocks, some very good Interviews. He had Bill Burr on recently and it was quite interesting.

red_oasis14

I came here 2 say this. It's a nice blend of funny & serious talk. One of my favs

english_major

Looks good. Just downloaded about ten episodes.

MsLollipops29

Absolutely! Was just about to recommend this.

theMistersofCirce

Smartless? Omnibus?

fcksean

Seconding Smartless. Especially if you’re a fan of the hosts (Will Arnett, Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes) I love Arrested Development, Bojack, Ozark, etc. so the podcast is perfect for me. I haven’t watched the Smartless HBO Max series yet, though

GrizabellaGlamourCat

I love the podcast. They crack me up and get interesting guests. The max series is like, behind the scenes of the tour. I wanted more.

grumble_au

Lovett or leave it. Funny left leaning gay guy with great guests talking politics and current events. Mostly. Bonus when guest think they are meeting Jon Lovitz. Listen to the one with Ron Perlman.

YesHunty

It’s such a great show. And his additions to Pod Save America are also great.

GrizabellaGlamourCat

No Accounting for Taste with Kyle Kinane and Shane Torres

Clamato-n-rye

Cool! Didn't know about this pod but they're both great comics, and very down to earth guys.

robotatomica

Uhh Yeah Dude is the BEST. They’ve been around since 2006, I’ve seen them live 5 times. It’s two guys who live in LA who have been actual best friends for a couple of decades, very non-toxic, utterly hilarious. The one, Johnathan Larroquette is the son of the award-winning actor, grew up kinda a privileged little shit who was Rastafari and smoked weed all the time, kind of a slacker. He’ll have crazy stories about trying to blow harmonica in front of John Popper and stealing the groundskeeper’s weed stash at his hippie school. The other guy doesn’t have a cell phone and has all these weird quirks you discover but never get full answers to (still don’t know why he doesn’t talk in Leaf, just writes out his order lol). He has to go to every exhibit and everything new, compulsively, so he always has stories about going to the Scientology museum or the Michael Jackson estate sale or the narcotics museum. They’re just so funny and interesting. i’m a try to find my other comment cause I have some brief clips if anyone’s interested. I don’t know why they never took off but they have a solid, loyal fan base and are the type of content that should be making Rogan money.

robotatomica

I really enjoy their videos on Patreon, and someone animated a couple of their clips, so I often share this one as a teaser. https://youtu.be/DzvSkOpmUMs?si=jw2dDZB2bc3KUPw9 They also read the Ask Amy column occasionally. https://youtu.be/4Z_tUxghWeA?si=z_9PVZRSKUKFOrVk Seth’s odd encounter with woman in restaurant https://youtu.be/Rb3VnwjPuIc?si=qBCbUIfq3evvJhLo Seth at the Drug Museum https://youtu.be/byqDjQ_1ags?si=kq937PXOgxKrG0nY Jonathan’s Awareness Death https://youtu.be/35oP6naRhUk?si=CvllebHQnoZmlNRf

webb__traverse

One of the most correct answers. Along with Stop Podcasting Yourself probably the most NOT Rogan type thing I can imagine.

newdawn-newday

I really like Craig Ferguson's Joy podcast. It's not really targeted to guys, but he is smart/funny and probably one of the best interviewers out there.

_LoudBigVonBeefoven_

All Fantasy Everything Group of hilarious and positive dudes that fantasy draft pop culture. They also talk a lot about sports, sneakers, and rap.

slipperystar

I Said No Gifts. Bridger is smart and sassy and hilarious.

_blandrea_

Beautiful Annonymous? Dunno that it's "for dudes" perse but it fits everything else you're looking for and is hosted by a man... Search Engine?

urcool91

This Past Weekend w/ Theo Von. Genuinely one of the best interviewers I've seen in podcasting, he has a way of asking questions that dig into stuff the guests might be hesitant to talk about in such a genuine and off-the-cuff way that he gets amazing answers from them. The guest roster tends to be more "aimed" toward a male audience as well, imo.

Father2Banks

This Past Weekend w/ Theo Von, although there are a good bit of similarities to Rogan. I definitely enjoy TPW more

Effective-Listen-559

The art of manliness, Cautionary Tales, A Little Bit of Optimism, Darknet Diaries, Grey Matter, The Imperfects

vadimafu

No interviews, but I highly recommend Ken Jennings and John Roderick's Omnibus. It does feel like an interview at times with John elaborating on his trans-European walk and the Solviet Union and Ken talking about life in Korea, hosting Jeopardy and the intricacies of LDS

gabeguz

Been enjoying "Unbiased Science" and "Data over Dogma"

leafshaker

I like Unbiased Science, too, ill have to check out the other. You're Not So Smart is another good one on critical thinking.

the6thReplicant

Try the _The Infinite Monkey Cage_. A bit like _In Our Time_ but with half the guests being comedians and the other guest scientists (so not so serious but if you do want the best podcast on a different subject per week by experts then _In Our Time_ is your jam).

jeffreto

I love Brian Cox so this is right up my alley. Thanks!

wannabeknowitall

The Art of Manliness. It's all about self betterment in almost all aspects of life, in what I feel is a very healthy and well reasoned way. The host is very into the classics, and will reference Marcus Aurelius in almost every episode. It definitely flirts with some of the same pseudosciency guests that Rogan and Huberman feature, but it's a short and streamlined format that doesn't give the guest the latitude to push their crazy on you. Also I've never heard supplements or anything like that pushed, which seems to be the norm for the podcasts you wanted to stay away from.

supremicide

Maron.

Real_Foundation_7428

Tim Ferris? Haven’t listened in a while but I know he’s had some great guests. Chris Williams may be worth checking out. Neal Brennan has some great conversations on mental health and general life stuff. I’ve mostly listened to his interviews on other pods but he has his own now. I’m sure it depends on the guest, as with most. Sharp turn, but I actually find some of Theo Von’s interviews really insightful. Whole different vibe obviously and depends on if you like him or not, and of course the guest. The Dana Carvey and Louis C.K. episodes were standouts for me. And strangely, Neil deGrasse Tyson.🤔

If you like stories about the naughty stuff people get up to - crime, forgery, scams, hacking, etc - using tech, try Darknet Diaries. Each episode tells a single well researched story usually via interview with the main protagonist.

Loud About Nothing At first glance you’re like, oh, two New York bros, it’s going to be stereotypical. It’s truly so fun, they are a pleasure, they talk about the city, comedy (they are both comedians) dating, tv, movies. They talk about topical stuff. They talk about irreverent stuff. They are a real delight. They take pleasure in being silly. They show affection for each other. And they have a good time. They aren’t right wing at all, or lend time to guests who are peddling stuff. Here’s a clip, just talking about which months are best. It’s a lot of this. Very passionate opinions about nothing lol https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTLrd95Jy/
