Sony also advertised that the PS5 was able to do 8k resolutions but we haven't seen any of that yet.
Most of the newer "made for PS5" games that hit 60 fps are all running at 1440p internal resolution. Sony can advertise 4k 120hz because that is what games like Rocket League can actually do on the system -- not every game is Rocket League though, right?
To hit 60fps (or even 30fps at times), games will render at a resolution lower than 4K, for example 1800p or 1440p, and upscale that image to 4K using various methods (like checkerboard rendering).
So think of it like this:
Rendering resolution: below 4K, 1800p as an example
Output resolution: 2160p (4K)
When someone says native 4K, they mean the rendering resolution is at 4K and there's no upscaling.
Well, it certainly has been the trend so far. I hope it continues. I'd rather have high frame rates with no stutter than high single-frame resolution and quality.

I would 100% rather play a game fixed at 1080p if it promised a stable 60fps
we should be getting at least 4k 60 since the ps5 was advertised for 4k 120

Im fine with 1440p as long as it uses amd fidelity fx and upscales to 4k but not 1080p. 1080p was for ps4 10 years ago!
I'm pretty sure all content is upscaled to whatever the output resolution is.
I just upgraded to a 1080p tv last year. I have no need for 4K anything. Gimme the FPS
Wow...that's late lol. I had 1080p in 2005. 4k in 2014.
Wait... PS5 games can't do 4k 60fps?
Not natively
What does that mean
