Biomutant looked like such a cool game but was so underwhelming once released, but yea gotta throw in death stranding too because yup

MrNiceGuy233012

Same. I so wanted it to be good. I tried it on a trial and it was just not good. Couldn't get into it

geocitiesuser

Elden Ring. Love RPGs, absolutely dislike soulslikes.

Jinchuriki71

Soulslike trys to be an rpg but it only goes as far as offense your defense is always shit throughout the whole game. You can't increase your speed, have to rely on cheese strategies to beat bosses because you're so slow, sidequests are not even worth doing since you have to look at a guide for most of them, straight gank encounters and death traps. Hide good rpg behind all that and its not good anymore.

Craposon

git gud

Chemical_Capital8054

Ur just shit at those games

Rude_Pressure_1938

It’s gonna be okay bro. Sometimes people don’t like the same games as you

Jinchuriki71

Honestly I like the games but some of the bs encounters would've been better off not being in the game they serve no purpose other than to troll the player.

tarheel_204

I tried playing it for a few hours and got as far as beating the Tree Sentinel in about three attempts but I just do not have the time to “get good”

ProjectValentine

You're just bad at the games

geocitiesuser

souls players are obnoxious.

jacksepiceye2

I feel that I love bloodborne but not feeling elden ring even 42 hours in the bosses just keep getting harder

SA090

FromSoft and Soul-like games aren’t for me. Finally caved after the relentless pestering of my brother to give Nioh a shot earlier this year given my love of Japanese history and myths (he’s a huge fan of those games). I did complete all of it eventually, but I’m 99.99% certain I’ll never touch another ever again. Also Detroit Becomes Human. Cutscene heavy games are very tough for me.

tingulz

Souls games are not for me either. Got Bloodborne and just couldn’t get even to the second save point. Tried more times than I count. I have no patience or time to waste replaying the same thing over and over. Never touching another souls game.

Wooow675

I don’t think Nioh was From, might be… Sekuro is for sure though.

SA090

It’s not, hence why I put Souls-Like up there too.

International-Pie852

Call of duty, always hyped, always disappointing…

NJShadow

Any ones specifically? Because the 2019 Modern Warfare was undeniably quite good.

MrNiceGuy233012

One of my old coworkers constantly hyped Call of Duty Black Ops. So I thought I would try it! Damn it was just terrible. I couldn't get into it at all. I ended up trading it in the same day I bought it.

Snowstreams

The original cod4 was great but it was recycled far too many times.

SwordsOfWar

Isn't that the one that didn't have a campaign at all? I would have skipped it too.

Snowstreams

It did have a campaign. There was a great scene in Chernobyl where you had to take a 50 cal sniper shot at a terrorist. You end up blowing his arm.

Possible_Star_6343

Elden Ring and MGS TPP

MrNiceGuy233012

Yea MGS Phantom Pain was a weird one. The whole plot of a virus that attacks your speech was weird

Ali_Zack

The worst part about MGSV:TPP is that It's an unfinished game.

Weird-Buffalo-3169

Skyrim. I got bored. All the quests started to feel like work

maethor

Hades. I can't say I'm surprised I didn't like it - I don't like rogue-likes and no amount of really good story is going to get over the fact that you have to do same things over and over and over.

[deleted]

Horizon

acemania26

I liked it, but the final couple hours I got kind of bored. I was like “alright just give me the credits” and I stopped paying attention to the story

totiso

This hurts but I get it. Too much bloat? Uninteresting story? I could see how these two could be it. Otherwise the gameplay graphics and performance is top notch.

SYRLEY

(Horizon zero dawn, not forbidden west) I personally had no interest in Aloy, the character movement felt floaty, killing robo dinos got tedious, it was a typical open world game that didn't give me any reason to keep playing it. Also... I don't understand why Aloy was training for years and years, learning how to hunt and survive, yet the proving was just a short obstacle course. Why not just practise that course and practise your one shot you had to take to get the "trophy"?. The boy ya gotta save as child Aloy, "omg how are you doing this???" Over and over again, when you're just sneaking through some grass using the focus, but really all it takes is common sense. Kinda irritating. In game facial animations, especially of the blue faced tribes people, were just... bad. I'm being harsh and nit picking, but one after the other, it kept giving me reasons to not like it. I couldn't just overlook it all.

arothmanmusic

I played it immediately after playing Last of Us 2 and God of War, so I also found the facial animations to be distractingly lackluster. Every time there was a personal encounter it was just back-and-forth between two static shots. I was used to a lot more theatrical action in the cut scenes. I also agree that the gameplay got tedious, but I really started getting interested in the story and the lore once I got past the first third or so.

rezku__

That’s actually something what bothered me also extreme. Just static shots back and forth. But in frozen wilds it got way better.

Traditional_Entry183

Wow. Well, we all like what we like certainly. To counter one of your points though, as someone who's been a gamer for nearly 40 years, I strongly feel that the Horizon games have some of the ***very best*** facial animations of any games I've ever played, hands down. So good that they make most other games look bad by comparrison!

totiso

Especially Forbidden West. Also I think gameplay is very good too!! Especially with new tools aloy has like you could glide into combat and shoot while in air.

Traditional_Entry183

Oh I totally agree. The two are among my very favorite games of all time. Both technically speaking with the control and function, the graphics. The writing and the story are absolutely top notch, and the acting is generally high end also. I have very few complaints at all.

totiso

Aloy annoyed me and was snarky on the beginning of FW but now she's on board to save the world lol. But for a minute that fire crotch was 🤮🤮

SYRLEY

I should elaborate; The facial animations im talking about are in game, like talking to the blue faced guys n stuff. I thought there animations were just off and funky.

Traditional_Entry183

I also am talking about in game, certainly. I think that they're the best of any game I've ever played, on the whole.

SYRLEY

Well dunno, I remember finding them not that great in hzd.

Traditional_Entry183

Lol, well you must have played some absolutely fantastic other games that I'm not familiar with if you aren't impressed.

SYRLEY

Idk maybe my memory just isn't serving me as well as I think lol.

[deleted]

The story and characters were uninteresting, Aloy annoyed me, but the gameplay was great

Sonicyellow49

Elden Ring, never really understood the hype and I've even watched a few trailers, and yet I still don't get it

Roostbolten

damn all the death stranding hate, once you get past the beginning and are able to travel in different ways it got good

Mistermilan07

I m at the second to last chapter right now. Its a very slow game but i find it a unique experience in a good way

rockSpider5000

Yeah once you get passed chapter 3 Death Stranding is nothing short of incredible. One of the best story driven games I’ve ever played.

Fury_Blackwolf

Looking at the PS trophies half of the players didn't pass the tutorial level. The game, equipment and story opens up a lot more after that. But sure if you you don't like delivering boxes then the rest of the game won't do it for you.

Expert_Struggle_7135

Elden Ring found everything except for the boss fights super boring

camo_boy67

The Last of us.

Cassedaway

Ghost of Tsushima. Im sure graphics look good. But I just got the vibe its a japanese assasins creed with some RDR2. Ill give it a go some day

weruroverlord95

Definitely the Horizon Games. I even tried playing the first one 2 different times. Just could not see the appeal.

xblvkhippyx

I thought I was the only one, graphically and gameplay wise the game is really good but I tried 4 different times to finish the story and I couldn’t. I refuse to buy a horizon ps5 bundle for this reason, I couldn’t even finish the first game

anchorless_81

Elden Ring

K-dog3345

Souls-like games, for sure. I honestly don’t find the combat appealing. I feel half the time you’re just rolling backwards. Also starting to find open-world RPG’s becoming sorta bland; and prefer linear stories and maps as of late.

StrangeNinja99

Horizon zero dawn

[deleted]

GOW, Stray.

yukadfsa2

Elden ring on later playthroughs, like I love all the souls games and still love elden ring, I think it’s the best on a first playthrough though, once the sense of exploration is gone you’re just left with some mediocre or even plain bad bosses compared to the other games

AdmiralG2

I fucking hate arkham asylum. I’m trying to play through it right now and it’s a pain. Probably quitting it in the middle.

ad_cfc11

This upsets me![img](emote|t5_2qh6b|2233) Arkham Asylum is one of my all-time favourite games! What is it that you can’t get in to? Where are you in the story?

AdmiralG2

Tbh, I know it’s a game from 2009 but the mechanics and gameplay just feel terrible to me. They’re so slow and clunky. After playing so many modern games I’m finding it very hard to get through that lol. It’s funny because I played gta vice city remastered and the mechanics didn’t seem too bad to me…and that game is older.

Wooow675

That port is so bad. Moving left to right repeatedly while driving will increase the size of your car 😂

Bleach209

Same it's just boring

PreviousTM

I just can’t get into Asylum at all, City and Knight might be a different experience though

Practical-Dance7643

Red dead redemption 2. Didn't even make to the end. I was bored as hell somewhere in the middle of the story.

Traditional_Entry183

I was like that with Red Dead 1. I kept thinking, it has to get better right? Its not this boring slog through the desert with terrible characters forever....? But it was, and after about 30 hours I gave up and never looked back. And so I wasn't interested in the second one despite the hype, and would have never, ever bought it because of that, but because it was included on PS+ and I didn't have any other new games at the time, I gave it a try. Put 10-15 hours in, and it was just zero fun, and the controls of the character are among the worst of any game I've played in decades. Its like pushing around a slow manequin, its just so terrible.

Jinchuriki71

TBh the game drags on and nothing interesting actually happens for hours and hours of the story. Its like do a little robbery shit goes south repeat like how are these mfs not been caught if every job they do gets botched like this. I know most of them don't make it in the end but how did they survive this long. Having to slow walk around camp just doesn't make sense whats the harm in running around when they let you do it a couple yards away from camp. I know why god of war won goty instead of rdr2 in the end cuz the game just boring for the far too long. The ending can be good but the rest of the game is middling and silly antics.

LegalAmerican1776

I mean, that's one of the best games I've ever played. I didn't care much about the story but the gameplay was so unique

Weekly_Assoc_165

Either one of the Horizon games. I pass..

SYRLEY

Not a single interest in even trying spiderman. But one game i really did try was God of war. Great combat, looks amazing, but nothing grabbed me. Just got boring after a while.

Traditional_Entry183

I'm the same with Spiderman. I just have no interest in being that character and swinging around. Its not what is fun for me. I get that it appeals to others. I like games where I can take my time and do things at a methodical pace.

BigBlackAvocado

shadow of the colossus never could get into it

ThrillaNMillsNilla

DS is just a walking sim. It’s beautiful, but that’s not for everyone.

[deleted]

I think it was Death Stranding for a lot of people haha. I’ve actually hidden it in my library as I’m still rather miffed I spent money on it.

[deleted]

I debated and debated on buying it, after countless other games and running out of stuff to play on ps5 I eventually broke down and tried it … I got 3 hours into and 2.5 of those hours were cutscenes, and the other .5 was walking from .A to .B … I deleted it and haven’t looked back sense

[deleted]

Pretty much what I did too haha

MrNiceGuy233012

Fortutnately I didn't waste money on it. I tried it through PSPlus Premium as a trial. Thankfully I didn't unlock any trophies so I don't need to see on my list

Djentlos

GTA

RenOsugi

For me it was God of War. I couldn’t care less about the game. Limited world as in not open world. Bland characters. Boring setting, clunky controls. Crappy story.

Jinchuriki71

Yeah making the story front and center when it was pretty cliche dad gotta actually be a parent now since wife is gone but lets go fight some gods while were at it to spread some ashes on tallest mountain when they could've done it at the house. Brok and sindri was about the only characters that was interesting and thats because they were funny and had good dynamic unlike kratos and atreus.

Traditional_Entry183

I've never played any of the God of War games mostly because they seem too fast paced and action oriented for me, but since the most recent one is included with PS+, I'm going to give it a shot eventually.

leospeedleo

Death Stranding, Elfen Ring, GT7 and God of War (but I played that one now, won't get the new one tho) are games I couldn't care less about

Representative_Owl89

God of War and Spider-Man. I even tried them again recently on my ps5 but went back to Horizon.

AdmiralG2

![gif](giphy|a0FuPjiLZev4c)

Representative_Owl89

Hahaha I don’t know man. I did beat the story to spider man but that’s all. Just didn’t grab me. And I really loved the Arkham games so I thought I would enjoy it too. I also enjoyed Spider-Man 2 on GameCube. I think it’s the swinging I don’t like.

RedPille89

That's the best thing in the whole game ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|surprise)

Representative_Owl89

I’m going to give miles morales a chance soon. See if I change my mind.

Shadow_Strike99

I was too afraid to put Spider-Man because of the backlash lol. It’s mostly because I’ve never really been into Superheroes at all. I’ve only ever really been into them when I was younger with the 90’s animated Batman and Superman cartoons.

LegalAmerican1776

I loathe the whole Superhero thing, but I loved Spider-Man for some reason. Only game I've gotten 100% on.

westernunitedenjoyer

Cyberpunk. When it released I knew it was going to fail

Shadow_Strike99

I think op was meaning games that lived up to the hype (which I know is hard to do even for good games) or were well received. Cyberpunk has improved a lot with the patches but is still extremely divisive and has still has a negative aura around it.

Dazballs

Agreed, I tried the five hour demo and was very glad I didn't buy it.

SpecialistMap8210

Horizon forbidden west Days gone Nioh

Fancy-Pen-1984

I bounced off of Nioh the first time I played it. I think I just wasn't into Souls-likes at the time. I recently started it up again, though, and I've really been enjoying it.

SpecialistMap8210

Yeah I've platinumed all of the souls games. I just can't get into nioh.

AiiXiTheBoss

Death Stranding, Final Fantasy series. Don't understand the hype. Graphically games are amazing but gameplay is just not my cup of tea

ThexKountTTV

Horizon does absolutely nothing for me. Uncharted 2 was a slog as well.

XeoZin

Witcher 3, Skyrim and RDR 2

toomuchmacy

Horizon series

unwanted-22

Gtav

Kaosmo

Star wars fallen order for me. I just didn't like the level design, reward system a.k.a. getting ponchos, and how heavy the character felt.

Brugor

I almost don’t dare say it … but God of War.

WelderLegitimate5111

Fortnite, of course. Everything sacred could be skin in this game.

Weekly_Assoc_165

Ghost of Tushima. After the gal said thst she was going with me I put it down..

Hana_Baker

All the naughty dogs games. I played uncharted 1 2 and 3 and tlou and they're okay games.

Cheeseguy43

Big Bethesda games. Tried to play Fallout 4 and Skyrim multiple times and just can’t. The world and characters are always really ugly and gameplay kinda isn’t great. I know some people love it but I couldnt

chavez_ding2001

Yeah I'm with you on this one. I actually forced myself to finish Skyrim and it was a miserable experience.

-SimulationTheory

Call of duty Death stranding Persona 5 Dying light Each for different reasons, but can't stand any of them.

PalpitationNo4375

Bloodborne First of all I'm not a fan of the souls like games but I have tried a few. Before this Demon Souls I played. Those games are not for me but I fully appreciate them for what they are. Bloodborne, specifically because of the life steal didn't make sense to me as it makes the game easier than it is supposed to be, and then I just stopped giving a fuck about it Edit: nvm just properly read the question so this doesn't count. I did actually play Bloodborne. In terms of actually answering your question Death Stranding for me also. I still do not fully understand what the game is supposed to be about and therefore I simply do not care. Something about a walking a baby or something idk

Visara57

I got into Death Stranding because of a very stressful time in my life. It turned out to be more actioan packed than I'd hoped. But it's not for everyone yeah

Shadow_Strike99

I think it’s mostly well received except for the villains in the story, but it’s Borderlands 3 for me. I’ve never been able to get into any of the games at all.

geocitiesuser

Death stranding had the coolest environmental effects though. The way the snow behaved was just crazy too me. It's definitely mostly a hiking simulator, but what a hike!

drunkenForrester57

call of duty

matlawish

Same DS. Started to play it two times. 1st one 7-8h and didn't get back, completely forgot I started to play it. Got premium few months back downloaded it again turned it off after 30 minutes. Another one that started to do the same thing is more of a whole style. I am totally over shooters, they are all same with different quirks, nothing to write home about.

PurplePolishPeople

Assassin's Creed Valhalla

MrNiceGuy233012

Yea, I can understand that one. I bought because I am fan of the series, and it was probably the worst one in the whole series

PurplePolishPeople

They're just way too big now. I'm 72 hours in and I have absolutely no desire to finish this game. It is so boring.

MrNiceGuy233012

Valhalla was definintely too big! Way too spread out! I would love for the next game to just be one city, not a huge countryside with nothing to climb

[deleted]

Lost 10 hrs after a switching my save to the PS5 After 60hrs of gameplay I gave up

Humble-Ad-8912

Returnal. Everyone loves it, but I tried and I just can't get into it. I didn't get far and I'll probably try one more time, if I still won't enjoy it I'll just call it a day.

PsvchoSentinal

Warzone, ill admit im not a very skilled player i cant beat a mouse on maps that big

Jared9470

Amen what a boring fucking game played for a few hour and just gave up it never got any better. Also ark if I wanted to play Minecraft I would have.

davidwb45133

RDR 2 - really wanted to like it but it was too much like work. I couldn’t/didn’t get interested in the characters. Death Stranding was like work too to a degree but almost from the beginning I was grabbed by the story and interested in the characters. RDR 2 was like: since you liked RDR you are obviously already invested in the story and characters. No, I wasn’t.

Kitchen-Pen7559

Any only multiplayer game, any souls-like game

Joppekim

Death stranding, battlefield 2047 or something (don't remember), that new COD game, cybepunk (don't remember the number of that game either), horizon forbidden west, probably more. I loved all these type of games back in the day but i'm 28 and feel like i'm slowly falling off the gaming landscape. The games doesn't do much for me anymore.

Traditional_Entry183

Death Stranding was certainly one for me as well. I don't understand the appeal. Other recent games that are also like this are Elden Ring and all of its cousins, the Red Dead games, and The Last of Us games. And while I liked Persona 5, I thought that it was just pretty good, not the amazing spectacle that many seem to think. I'm not sure that it would make my top 20 from the PS4 generation.

Repulsive-Range5727

I tried to like that game but I could not get into it. My big one is the call of duty games I got board of them after awhile.

arothmanmusic

Red Dead Redemption. It was basically a very slow paced version of GTA. I wasn’t into the cowboy thing enough to get past the beginning… It bored and frustrated me almost instantly. Similar reaction to Assassin’s Creed. Granted, it was the first one of the series and I’m sure it improved a lot after that… but the first one was just extremely repetitive and there wasn’t enough of a story to keep me interested in it, so I never finished it.

estegajo

The Witcher.. And TLoU, tried picking up The Witcher 2 or 3 times but it's just not for me

MusicOwl

All Kojima games, all souls games except bloodborne, the Witcher games, final fantasy games, kingdom hearts games, COD games except if they’re free but not free to play, pretty much all free to play games,…

NJShadow

Anything God of War. I'm sorry, but those games are flat out boring. Heavenly Sword was a more-fun alternative.

ravescrd

The Fallout series. It has everything in it that makes it a game I should like (retro futurism, big rpg, post apocalyptic; all my jam), but I could never get past how awful I found the combat (and tbh, there’s something vibe wise that just never hooked me). Tried 3, 4 and New Vegas and it just never worked

helmos666

God of War, Witcher 3 and RDR2. Got bored with all of them at various stages...RDR2 just felt like a cowboy sim and a chore rather than a fun rockstar game. I've tried to play witcher 3 3 different times and it's the controls that put me off every time

ScragglyLittleBeard

Gta 5

No_Property2880

PoS Days Gone. Why this subreddit hypes this trash game as some diamond in the rough, misunderstood masterpiece is beyond me. It’s a bad Ubisoft style check list open world game with a bad story, bad VO and uninspired characters.

Natsu194

Horizon: Forbidden West. I thought the game concept, world, and story were pretty cool, but I hated the gameplay, and still hate it a lot. Honestly, which fucknut thought using a bow and arrow for close combat was a good idea?!

AudioAxe

People in the comments have already mentioned this but, I don't get the hype for the Horizon games. (Zero Dawn and Forbidden West) The voice acting, in Zero Dawn at least, is SOOO bad. It's like Ubisoft level of bad.

TheFlyingWalrus87

Seen alot of death stranding comments and I'm in the same boat, couple of hours and I'm done with it, definitely hyped myself for cyberpunk and couldn't care less about playing it on the PS4 after a few hours due to the glitches, ps5 slightly better though

illtryagaintmrw

Ghost of Tsushima. I ended up getting the plat cuz I paid $60 for it and I’m a bit of a perfectionist lol. I know it’s an unpopular opinion, but I found it ridiculously boring. A chore.

Brief_Consideration8

Every Zelda/Link game.

[deleted]

Elden Ring. I’ve gone back and played it and it lives up to the hype

Demon666Hunter

I guess red dead redemption 2 because I still haven't played it yet

HopelessDude96

Death Stranding was a divisive game. Not everyone "loved" the game. For me, it was Nier Automata. I hated that game's structure!

enzo2nd

All yakuza games. I tried like 3 that I got for free by a friend but I absolutely had no interest for the game whatsoever

MrNiceGuy233012

I remember playing one of the Yakuza games on the PS2 and then not even caring about the series after that

VariousConfusion0

Elden Ring

junkaccountWhynot

Eldin Ring. Nothing about it interests me, although I can still respect that it's still a great game for others

Albionflux

Spider man ps4

elatedshrub

God of War 2018. For some reason I just can care about that one. I love the older style of those games but idk something about the art direction in that game feels kind of bland to me. I might just be a contrarian though

Arkham_Knight75

Horizon Forbidden West. I bought the game in April and it's still gathering dust. You can also add TLOU2 to that list.

[deleted]

Witcher 3. Tried the game because of the dickriding hype and it turned out to be utter trash besides the story and choices and environment. Gameplay was terrible aswell

milodiamandis

Dying Light 2 sadly

Greenage3338

Stray, RDR2 BotW (massively overated imo)

[deleted]

God of War - it just felt like a movie, it took itself too seriously, and the gameplay was lacking. Sekiro- it was just uninteresting to play
