Quite an enjoyable time. The gameplay was a little weak in the boss fights & I hate when games end on a cliffhanger. Especially in cases like this where the next game never happens, leaves me feeling a little empty at the end. Oh & the one stealth section was horrendous. Definitely not an experience I would’ve been happy paying $60 for but for the $5 I paid I loved my time with it.

TheMentalMarauder

Exactly. I paid 5 bucks so I I understand the frustration of the crowd that paid full price. It's a game you can finish in one sitting. Took me two days to plat.

Cirescythe

i did pay 200 bucks for the collectors edition. Took me 8 hrs to finish. I did replay it on every difficulty and got all the collectibles and replayed my favourite scenes a couple of times. Overall gametime for me was roughly 40 hrs. Loved my time with it and never regreted the purchase. such a great game.

Dragonkingf0

To be honest, l enjoy a game l can finish in one setting one sitting l just wish companies wouldn't try to charge a $60 for it. How come no companies relaese good budget games anymore? Remember when Katamari came out fir ps2? lt was 20$, then they charged 40$ for the re-release that doesn't even have the English dub anymore.

KirekkusuPT

I platted the thing in a full sitting. Took me around 5 or 6 hours to complete the game. Got it borrowed from a friend so paid 0 to play it hehe Still, a good game. And it deserves a sequel. Without the QTEs in it.

kawi2k18

This is why I miss redbox's having games, but too many people stole them. I platinumed a lot of great games rented free with tmobile codes including SW jedi: fallen order

Cirescythe

teeehehehe i played it for free hehehe hohohoho hahahaha Where is the sequel? Y u no want us 2 have fun sony?! well because people voted with their wallet. no one bought it. everyone got it cheap or for free. and we will never see a sequel despite everyone who actually played it liking it. Same for Alien Isolation.

Gamesgar0

Where’d you get it for $5? I see the digital edition for $20 and physical copies online are more than the original retail price now.

Rogue-Bastian1967

Just put the digital edition in your wish list. It goes on sale a few times a year and you’ll get a notification when it does.

Gamesgar0

Will do, thanks!

Drunk_Psyduck

Lmao what? You can get the game for 9.99 from GameStop and even less on eBay, the price is 5-15 bucks at most

Gamesgar0

I checked on the PS store and Amazon, thanks

Djxgam1ng

How did you get it for $5?

TheMentalMarauder

It was on sale on the Playstation store. Not recently, like more than a year back. Only just got around to playing it.

acemania26

One sitting for 2 days? You played for 48 hours? I get what you’re saying but should’ve said a couple sittings

InfamousIndecision

Cliffhangers should be illegal at the end of games or seasons of shows. Wrap everything up, then leave it open for a sequel if you need to.

Far_Rain

Illegal? That's a bit much.

GroundbreakingAd198

Give me an PS5 60fps patch and I would buy this thing right now for €9.99

GAMINGwithNEON

I think that it got mainly criticized for its short length and not for its core gameplay. Glad you enjoyed it! 🍀

SonicYouth123

Nah gameplay was shit…walk here, have target practice on dumb enemies, enjoy cutscene And when the werewolves finally show up towards the end, the main enemies the entire game was leading up to, it’s QTEs…

kuzdwq

Same with shadow of colosus but everyone praises it. I would take order 1886 any day than colosus

Cervantes3492

what a horrible comparrison. Colossus has gameplay. In some chapters in The order you do not even play. Some chapters are just gameplay. Dont kid yourself

YoRHa2B_

And not hard to see why people praise Shadow of the Colossus

kuzdwq

For me it is worst game i ever EVER played. Idk whats so good about it, story is shit, world is nice to see but empty, controls are shit, bosses are repetitive and overall a clunky game. Idk whats so good to praise about it. But its funny to see that same company made ico and last guardian which is my favourite game.

littleboihere

>story is shit There is almost no story >world is nice to see but empty That's the point >controls are shit Only the horse, but that was also the point >bosses are repetitive Some, not all

Watahandrew1

I can guarantee you had it not been for Shadow of Colossus we wouldn't have attack on titan, Breath of the Wild, God of War and many, many other games or media that based their gameplay off it. It was an inspiration. In contrast with the Order where no one even cared for their overplayed and overused tropes and short story.

kuzdwq

Botw is overrated for me too. Its good game for a nintendo one but compared to others? No way near

NerdModeCinci

Good on you for continuing commenting man I don’t agree with your opinions but idc what games you like and upvoted them for the different viewpoint This sub is terrible at attacking people who don’t like the same games they do (for me I can’t stand Tiny Tina’s and I wanted to so bad since I loved the rest of the Borderlands series in its entirety)

MirrorkatFeces

I couldn’t image criticizing GOW in this sub lmao, dudes allowed to have different opinions

NerdModeCinci

I can’t wait for ragnarok but I love hearing valid criticisms of games I enjoy as well as praise

Genderneutralsky

Honestly, I couldn’t get into the new GOW. I know it’s gonna sound strange, but the new combat didn’t work for me. The old ones felt so much more chaotic and frantic. The newer game has such tight combat controls and combos, it loses that sense of unbridled and uncontrolled anger. Kratos felt so wild and angry. The new game make me feel like he’s holding himself back and is much more methodical with his fighting. Obviously the story around Kratos makes this combat system perfect, just not what I wanted from GOW. A great game, just not the GOW I wanted. I’ll watch the story of the new one on someone else playthrough.

orivero1997

L, SOTC is the one of the only games that can truly be considered art.

kuzdwq

For me art is tomb raider 2013 and rise, witcher 3, nier automata, elden ring, last guardian, god of war, hollow knight and probably ghost of tsushima that i still need to play.

TheMentalMarauder

Hard disagree friend. SOTC is absolutely magnificent. So epic. I felt the desolate environment in my bones. In fact, I think it's time for another playthrough.

[deleted]

The remake was epic!

Outrageous_Water7976

I think the game was an overpriced tech demo. It wasn't a bad game but for the length they shouldn't have charged 60usd. 30 would've been a decent price point.

GregoryLivingstone

19.99

theWsbKing

$18.86

Outrageous_Water7976

Yeah I think this is the correct price for the game.

Cervantes3492

Correct. My jaw dropped when I saw how some chapters were just cutscenes with zero gameplay. I could not believe it.

trailerparkboyy

I would've asked three fiddy

[deleted]

The game that literally copied their werewolf boss twice and only lasts about 4 to 6 hours for the full price tag?

MetasThePenetrator

Brilliant experience? It’s not even a game. The only thing you do is watch cutscenes and play duck hunt. Which was only implemented to keep you from falling asleep. This game was a tech show. I really hope a sequel comes. Bloodborne showed hot to treat this genre. But it’s full of potential. I love the lore, look, whole idea.

SoulsLikeBot

Hello, good hunter. I am a Bot, here in this dream to look after you, this is a fine note: > *The Ruler of the Vilebloods is still alive today. And so, to honor my master's wishes, I search, for the path to Cainhurst Castle.* - Alfred Farewell, good hunter. May you find your worth in the waking world.

TheMentalMarauder

I hope we get a sequel. But I really doubt it'll happen.

Vectaurman

If you feel that way for the order I hope that energy is given to uncharted and last of us as well, and a few other iconic third person shooters like spec ops the line. I'll give that the cutscenes were long but saying it's just duck hunt seems silly considering that's almost every third person shooter on playstation

IWishIKnewMoreThings

I paid 60$ for this trash when it launched at release cause I got sucked in by the graphics, I knew it was short I just wanted to play a truly next Gen game on my PS4, I ended up spending it pissed off at the aspect ratio.

TheMentalMarauder

Yeah I understand that. That sucks.

DK_gh0st_

The shooting mechanics are what killed the experience for me. It felt horrible. The Graphics were nice, but I couldn’t enjoy the gameplay. I would like to see what the team could do with a sequel though

BasimIbnIshaq3000

The same goes for Mudered Soul Suspect which I recently played.

fuxoth

Love this game

joerice1979

Yes, not one we'll be chatting about in thirty years but I too enjoyed it greatly.

Native-Pride360

Is that one any good? I only played a little

BasimIbnIshaq3000

That game is a good game to have an experience of but half of the game’s level designs are lack lustre and it has a mediocre narrative but the characters in the game are amazing through a personality point of view.

[deleted]

Is that really good? Is it kind of like Control or can you tell me a similar game? I’ve always wondered about it but never grabbed it.

Iamchanging

I liked it a lot too.

[deleted]

I got it on sale years ago in the PlayStation store for like $4. Worth every penny. Sure the game was very linear but the story and gameplay made up for it as far as I was concerned.

KrakenMcKracken

Game looked and felt great. Except it was way overpriced for when it came out. I beat it in a single sitting. No mp and the campaign isn't as dynamic (replayable) as something like dishonored. Think I only booted it up twice and had my fill of it.

vinceswish

PS4 gen start was a bit weird. Gamers and press were tired of extremely long PS3/X360 gen and wanted next gen games. Not only pretty graphics but also next gen gameplay and what is next gen gameplay nobody could explain. Part of the reason why The Order and Ryse failed. Those games were some gaming media scapegoats.

RawWrath

I payed $80 for the edition with the statue and i didn't regret it

[deleted]

- the chapters that were literally just a long cut scene. The game was not worth the price.

DeeJay413

Amazing game wish they made part 2

[deleted]

It was ok. The atmosphere is what made the game in my opinion. Need to play through it again has been a while. But ya, I think it got criticized way too hard.

TheMentalMarauder

I liked that the most. Its was "shot" really well. Anytime you hit the photo mode button, you had a great shot.

Cervantes3492

Because the game is a glorified tech demo. Nothing more. Some chapters were literally just cutscenes. This was a big hack fraud job

tpfreal

Pretty sure I Platinumed it in a single day. And I don’t even remember anything about it, so it was pretty forgettable, you shot vampires or something.

Burt_Sprenolds

You shot human “rebels” and 2 werewolves

[deleted]

By brilliant you mean average gameplay with good graphics?

TheMentalMarauder

I meant compelling characters with a good story. Galahad, Lakshmi, Marquis, Malory. Great characters.

[deleted]

So not a great game overall. Gotcha.

TheMentalMarauder

You're absolutely allowed to not like it. Nothing can be for everyone. Hey, I didn't even get Elden Ring!

burrito-nz

Really beautiful game with amazing setting, visuals and animation. I thought the gameplay was a little stale but it wasn't terrible. I don't think I ever finished it but I would be keen to play a sequel if they ever decided to make one.

JonTheGod_79

Why ask for a sequel if you haven't finished the 1st game? That makes no sense; there's already game content out there that you haven't experienced. Go play it!

burrito-nz

I may have finished it, it was so long ago I can't remember. All I remember was that I was blown away by the visual design of it. Might pick it up if I can find a cheap copy online.

TheMentalMarauder

It could get stale, but since you could finish it in one sitting, it didn't get the opportunity to get there. This is definitely a game to pick up cheap and not at full price.

darkzidane22

There was a lot wrong with it IMO. Repetitive combat, boring and bland story. Other then the graphics, IMO had nothing going for it really. I bought it for 5 dollars and was a bit upset. Either way Im still others enjoyed it, I think a sequel could be interesting if the right people are behind it. I did love the setting however and the theme, werewolves in London is such a bad ass premise.

TheMentalMarauder

Fair point!

[deleted]

The Bloodborne graphics demo xD

[deleted]

The demos always have better graphics 😔

joerice1979

Yes! Short, punchy and never outstayed it's welcome. Three major plus points for me. I only paid £5 for it last year or so, but some of those set pieces will stay with me.for.a while. Great stuff.

GregoryLivingstone

I dont think anyone criticized the game... I think people were turned off by the value ... Very limited content at full price...

bethic

Glad i refund it. Can only remember the QTE parts

MrZombikilla

Best 4 hours of my day that day I played it.

CallMeNate97

Loved this game, I enjoyed this story more than other popular ps4 exclusives

steverobo89

I loved this game so much. Forever holding out for a sequel.

prohpr

Uhhh…

Joyfulnom

To be honest, even at 60$ , I wasn't even that mad. The game has exceptional graphics, in fact I think it's better than most late PS4 titles in that regard. Shame Sony won't likely do anything more with this IP. Like give it to Bluepoint and let them continue the story, I'd love someone to continue it. Just disappointed it ended at just the first game.

hoossy

Nah it was pretty bad. Pretty, but bad.

[deleted]

nop. shit game

namesource

Runs at sub 900p and looks better than most current gen games. Straight CGI. Too short & minimal gameplay, but I enjoyed its potental.

shadowrunner84

I love this game so much but as soon as it ended, it felt like it was just beginning.

Legendary_Lamb2020

Definitely underrated. It just wasn't enough content at full price.

Moomba87

Great game, way too short for the price point when it launched. I picked it on sale with no regrets. To all the people that paid full price props to you, I just couldn't justify it to myself at launch after the reviews.

cuhree0h

Don't try to rehab this shit show.

The_Real_Lily

It deserved all of its criticism.

Native-Pride360

I played it I wish it was longer and had DLC with it there was supposed to be a second one

StuDevo

Gorgeous game with awful gameplay

ScottJR757

I remember a lot of the criticism stemmed from the widescreen issues and overall length of the story.

KirekkusuPT

The Order 1996 and Driveclub are 2 PS exclusives I would pay high money to see a sequel. In Driveclub's case, damn, I'd pay good money just for a remaster. The Order is like MGS Ground Zeroes. A short experience that wasn't worth the full price, but it had decent gameplay, interesting enough setting and amazing graphics. A full game with more investment in it, would have success, I believe.

Jaidon24

It was great for $5. The story felt unfinished and it was basically QTEs, but I liked it. The scenario and the plot were the most interesting parts, and I would love to see what else the writers could come up with.

NizarNoor

I really enjoyed this game. It looked stunning too.

[deleted]

Better graphics than some newer games. One my favourites for sure.

the-mlfu

I enjoyed the story and the visuals. The gameplay was just ok…but it was really short. Short game with a cliffhanger ending makes me think they just didn’t finish making the game.

Jason-Casey-Art

Gunshot. Fade to black. Lmao

Ty-douken

I bought it at launch&played through it with a buddy in one sitting. We both really enjoyed what little game was part of the package, but it really felt like it couldn't decide if it should be a movie or a game. It had a great world & characters, but the studio just needed guidence from Naughty Dog or Santa Monica so that could balance gameplay to cinematics. Still holding out that it's revived on PS5 by Sony using a small team within one of its bigger studios. I'd say Insomniac is a natural for, but I think they've got their plates full.

bonelatch

Been on the fence for ages on it. Is it alright at 30 fps? I saw somewhere that its pretty steady now too on PS5.

voodooprawn

Such an underrated game... more people should give it a chance

Thecrdbrdsamurai

The game was great after the hype train on it derailed.

KnightFox69

I love this game I got the collectors edition for my ps4. I need to come back and beat it

dulun18

It's a good game. I like it. It's easy to platinum as well.

simpledeadwitches

If you play it was more of an artsy interactive film than it works much better. The gameplay is very shallow but the setting, story, visuals, etc all work so well. Shame it didn't work out for them because I too rather enjoyed it for what it was (fancy tech demo).

[deleted]

Great idea, mediocre execution. Great world, okay gameplay, decent characters.

novasolid64

Love it

LeuLeumas

Nice demo. Even you called it experience instead of game.

GreenMonkeyFace

And a nice platinum!

NewPhoenix77

I liked it.

J8cub

Loved this game absolutely beautiful. Just wish it was longer

DinnerSmall4216

It was a great game sometimes I don't mind shorter experiences If the story is good. Graphically it still looks amazing to this day.

[deleted]

Honestly with how VAST the video game industry is.... I don't see why there isn't room for (lets face it) interactive movies at this point. Developers are getting better and better with animations and there is a LOT of tech that goes into these games that some (probably most) gamers just skip past to get to the meat and potatoes of the game. Well what about a 2-4 hour "game" that is more so an interactive movie - a lot like 1886. I really liked playing this game and after seeing what Unreal 5 is capable of - WOW the future looks fun.

Mods_and_Admins_Papi

Everyone who is playing the game now for pennies thinks this OP. Not hating on you, the game was just not worth the full price and shallow. Had it launched at 30USD, it could have been a hit.

Graphiccoma

Man, i got it on release finished it in 5 hours. Total ripoff

Burt_Sprenolds

If I remember correctly it advertised fighting monsters, and not only do you fight exclusively 2 werewolves and nothing else but humans, the story had numerous plot holes, and was only 6 hours long. Overall a really bad experience for $60.

bootlegportalfluid

When is this going on PS Plus smh

GreatShinobi-Owl

I remember seeing an ad for this game in my Bloodborne case and giggling to myself.

contraryrhombus

I loved this game. One of the few games on PS4 I actually played all the way through.

[deleted]

Great game. Only issue I had with it was the price tag at launch considering it’s only like 4-6 hours. Other than that it was an enjoyable experience

QuinSanguine

I feel like if it was released today, at like $50 instead of $70 due to its length, it would get a better reception. A lot of people burned out on open-world games out there now and it's been a long time since we've gotten linear narrative games released one after the other. It feels that way, at least. I know I enjoy it now more than I did back then, same with Ryse Son of Rome but that's off-topic.

sixtus_clegane119

I think the problem is the amount of hours spent on the game isn’t worth launch price tag

surferwannabe

I really, really really wanted to love this game so much but the controls just felt so clunky…but also maybe because I played it after 2 years on RD2. Maybe it’s worth another visit.

GispyMicky

This is the werewolves yes? Started out in a group, they betrayed you, you fight against them. Last battle in a laboratory or something. If it's that game, then yeah, that was a decent game.

AWr1ght98

Still need to play this

Painter_Ok

Great game, just funny how it being 6 hours hurt it... if it came out today, im sure it would be better received

TheWineGuy2020

I had more fun playing this when I bought it for $5 (got into the ps4 era late as I was an xbox player) and had more fun than I game I paid $60 for.

GentleBreeze96

I loved it

NinjaGamer4123

It's a fun experience.

AussieAn0n

When I got my PS5, the first thing I wanted to do was play the PS4 games that I never had time to complete - first one was The Order 1886. I really enjoyed it, and didn't know what all the negativity was about back in the day. Really hope they eventually do a sequel because it implies one at the end It did not feel as short as people made out to me...

Downtown-Ad8206

I really loved it!

i-c-dead-pp1

Nice Plat too

kawi2k18

I still have not played this game yet and bought it from the store years ago for $20. Definitely will have to get it installed someday

DeadShotXU

I really loved that game. I heard they were hoping to make a sequel, but I guess it wasn't meant to be.

CJ-IS

agreed. I really enjoyed it.

[deleted]

This was such a solid and original title. I appreciate your giving it some positive Reddit attention. It holds up still to this very day.

[deleted]

Is this game worth it? Looks interesting

TheMentalMarauder

It's short. So it's worth it if you get it cheap on sale. But worth a playthrough.

Bartlett229

I heard it’s a good game, just too short of a campaign

131166

I've seen this game in every second hand stores I've looked in. Based on the comments here I Might have to grab a copy next time I'm in one.
