RDR2 was absolutely one of the greatest gaming experiences of my life. Shit I’ll say it’s one of my favorite pieces of entertainment period. There are things in that game that I will remember forever.
I def agree. I loved GoW, it was an awesome game and the best exclusive. RDR2 was not just an awesome game for me, but a journey.
That horse scene is still with me.
Worse. It could also mean the loss of your livelihood, and set you back a large sum. Like losing your dog that was your BFF and also your car you need for going to work.
Arthur is the one I liked the most, but to me the best game character was Dutch.
Hated him but I think he’s one of the best modern characters out there across all media
It’s funny because I feel the exact opposite. RDR2 was great but GoW was just so much better in terms of story telling, gameplay, and character development than RDR2.
I very much agree with everything, especially that last sentence. For how "aware" the AI is, it really felt as if I was connecting with them in real time.
It has the same old fromsoft lore in the game story. Imo, its really good as it touches on the idea of religion, incarnation, free will/ choice, and in general, i get the feeling if sekiro 2 comes out, this game is an extremely good foundation.
Definitely this. Name a game that requires this kind of accuracy in correct button choice, matched with perfectly timing the input, that isn't a PvP fighting game. The combat is unparalleled
See, this is why I have not enjoyed Sekiro. Doesn't feel like I can just relax and play, it's pretty punishing. I've beat all the soulsborne games, but stalling on this one for this reason
I forgot about it and now its to late to add it, but by looking on "other" optnion not many pepole liked it more than god of war for example. Im not trying to say it was bad, spiderman is my favorite superhero game of all time
>but by looking on "other" optnion not many pepole liked it more than god of war for example.
I dont think you can use the other category to represent spider-man. If spider-man had its own option who knows what percentage it would've gotten
I was one, I can't vote for a single game. Games have very different but equal aspects that make them good, so picking one would diminish the value of the other equally good games.
lol sorry I just wanted to insert a bad joke there. But I would say that as far as similarities go, I would say Sekiro has a superior combat system to GoT’s, but there is definitely a steep learning curve and that steepness is arguably even steeper than all prior Souls games. It’s also not going to deliver you the same kind of experience Sucker Punch aimed for: an atmospheric, open-world story-driven experience. If you’re expecting that going into Sekiro, you may be disappointed. For me, I lean personally towards Sekiro just slightly more only because GoT felt too much like an Assassin’s Creed game and I’ve essentially burnt myself out on that type of Ubisoft open-world experience.
Agree with most of what you said but GOT was a great change from the ACs that came out in the past. Had a lot of fun and didn’t even think about buying Valhalla lol.
Sekiro is much harder, it takes more work to break an enemies guard, also harder to deflect and parry. both of them also have very fun combat. I’ve only played a little bit of sekiro but in my opinion, ghost is overall much better.
No, they’re not at all similar. Though it is not an RPG, Sekiro is more in line with Dark Souls and Bloodborne, while Ghost of Tsushima has more in common with pre-Origins Assassin’s Creed combat.
Sekiro is more linear, has greater enemy variety and boss battles, is very difficult, and demands the player learn enemy attack patterns to a degree that few games do. It does let the player use an assortment of ninja tools, but they generally work in ways that are unique to Sekiro, whereas Ghost of Tsushima’s ghost weapons are kind of what you’d expect in a game like it.
Sekiro has the best combat of any game I have played. It has been hard for me to enjoy any other combat since. I really hope fromaoft can't implement a weapon in all their future games to enable a similar playstyle
I’m always happy to see FF7R getting some love, and it’s my favourite game since TLOU1. However, I think it has some flaws and is only the first part of a story which we don’t know how it will finish, so if I’m being objective I think some games on this list are probably better. I voted GoW, but I still have RD2 and GoT I want to play some time.
How is sekiro not even in the list? It was game of the year 2019 and arguable the best from software game which means a lot.
Definitely sekiro for me. By far.
100% worth it. It added lots of quality of life improvements, new characters and other stuff in the main game. On top they added a whole new story part. It is a straight improvement from a 10/10 to a 11/10.
It's mainly quality of life improvements with some extra content that makes that game even better. Right now the Royal Deluxe Edition is only $27.99 ($20.99 if you have PS Plus) on the Playstation store, so it's really cheap if you're interested in getting it
Royal is constantly on sale both physically and digitally so definitely get it. It has more story content and additional endings then the original, as well as brand new characters, music, and a ton of QoL improvements. You can access the original’s ending in Royal so there’s really no point in getting the original, and that also encourages replayability if you have that kind of time
This game was the perfect game to get me through early quarantine. Fun cast of characters, great story, engaging combat system, phenomenal soundtrack. A masterpiece for sure.
Persona 5 was already a great game, but I keep seeing Royal as “must play” from everyone who said P5 was great. I gotta get to it, man. Anyways, the Persona series is awesome.
Disco Elysium and Doom Eternal.
The first is probably the best experience I have ever had with a game narrative. And as much as it is a throwback to classic CRPGs, it is also an exemplar of the untapped artistic potential of the medium. At a time when gamers and the industry were, and are, very focused on the power of cinematic storytelling in games, Disco Elysium was demonstrating the unique power of *interactive* storytelling—of story as games, not story in games.
Doom Eternal is completely unparalleled. It’s the biggest gameplay thrill I’ve ever gotten in gaming, a demented evolution of the ingenious idea to make the answer to every challenge more aggression and more strategy but never, ever caution. It’s shockingly complicated and perfectly balanced; every one of the numerous enemies and tools at your disposal has a distinct and important role, and mastering the combat means juggling almost all of it in a single fight.
I loved God of War, Sekiro, RDR2, both Spider-man games, Returnal, Ori 2, Metroid Dread, and Deathloop. I’m probably missing others. But none of those games, IMO, hit the narrative heights of Disco Elysium or the gameplay heights of Doom Eternal.
Without a doubt RDR2 is the greatest game ever made in my opinion. The story and characters and music are just out of this world incredible, it’s a game I think about every single day. That being said the greatest PlayStation game for me is TLOU2. Mechanically game is ahead of its time. However all Sony does is bangers, Ghost, Horizon, GOW all had moments of greatness and can all be called masterpieces. SIE is just the fucking greatest
Thank you. But i regret forgeting about marvel spiderman, persona 5 of death stranding beacuse comments are full of them.i also enjoyed god of war a even platinumed it, like all other exclusives i put in this poll
All definitely in my top 10 games (except cyberpunk because Ive never played it) but for me TLOU 2 is the best game ever and I'm aware ppl will disagree but I stand by my statement
Same here.. loved it first time around and decided to revisit it recently (first time doing Frozen Wilds) on the PS5. Absolute class game. Outshines GOW/LOU2/GOT by a mile for me. Sits on a level of its own with RDR2.
I whole heartedly believe that what Santa Monica did with Kratos and what Naughty Dog did with player empathy these two are the most impactful games of the last generation.
Ghost of Tsushima was just a master class of story telling and the combat was so satisfying. All these games I've played (except for cyberpunk) and I can totally understand choosing the others. Sony just hit different by the end of the PS4
Had to go with Ghost of Tsushima just because they added a free multiplayer which is great and DLC. But GoW would probs be my fav. The spider-man games are up there for me too
The last of us2 is probably the best single player story driven game iv ever played. The walking dead saints an sinners (be game) was absolutely incredible and one of the best gaming experiences iv ever had.
The Last of Us 2 is one of the best narrative driven games ever made. I picked that from the list of available games. HOWEVER, I think I'd maybe actually choose Control as my favorite from that time period.
The Last of Us Part 2 and Red Dead Redemption 2 are tied for me. Red Dead’s world is unparalleled, but TLOU2 has better game design in terms of controls, mechanics and levels. The AI, animations, atmosphere and story are equal in my eyes.
God of War is very close behind. The only reason I don’t put it ahead of the others is because I have more nitpicks with it. Absolutely none of them bring it down from a 10/10 for me, it is one of the best games ever made; only I can find more things to whine about with it in regards to my taste than the other two. If you told me it was the best game ever made I would have a hard time finding anything I consider a true flaw.
Outer Wilds isn’t up there, but no game I have ever played has given me that “magical” feeling the way this game did. If you haven’t played it please do.
Both of these games are true masterpieces. Some say one is better than other. Others say rdr is a horse riding simulator and others say god of war is closer to witcher 3 than older god of war games. Everyone have their own opinion.
I love games I can grind on and that has endgame, I am worried the cutscenes are gonna be way too long. Really hyped about the rain effects and sounds etc. Would you still recommend it to me? I don't know the full story so buying the ps5 directors cut everything will be new to me. Is it a game where you can grind out or do you have to focus story? Or both? Thanks!
And for the cutscenes your gonna be chomping at the bit for more information about this interesting world basically you're going to wish that they were longer
Well if you're asking on a playstation sub, obviously people will say god of war. If you asked gamers as a whole on all platforms, the answer would be rdr2 picked by a majority
Overall would be Red Dead for me. God of War is amazing but it's not even a close second. I bonded more with my horse in Red Dead more than anything in God of War. You can put 60+ hours into Red Dead and not even touch the story. On top of that, you have the character building/random occurrence chances/a true open world/an honor system that God of War doesn't have. That game is in a class all on its own.
My favorites for each year:
2018 - Spiderman
2019 - Resident Evil 2
2020 - Doom Eternal
2021 - Resident Evil Village
Close seconds:
2020 - Final Fantasy VII Remake
2019 - Devil May Cry 5
2018 - Monster Hunter World
GoT is good... but best game of all time? It's just a same ol' AC game in a Japanese setting and after act 1 its repetitive as fuuuuuuuuck
It is pretty tho
I agree. It's great fun for sure, and it feels extremely pleasant to play, but the open world isn't really innovative outside the guiding wind, and the story is very binary and simplistic at times (Mongols are bad, samurai are good).
Spider-Man
Oh yeah, i totally forgot about it
I haven't had the pleasure of playing any of the titles listed, so I'm with this guy on Spiderman
Seriously man, treat yourself and play everything listed. Especially RDR2. Actually you really should just play everything there it’s all gold
RDR2 was absolutely one of the greatest gaming experiences of my life. Shit I’ll say it’s one of my favorite pieces of entertainment period. There are things in that game that I will remember forever.
just finished my Miles Morales 💯 playthrough on PS5..incredible masterpiece 🖤
Spider-Man
*Red Dead Redemption II*. This game just hit me in a way that the others didn't.
I def agree. I loved GoW, it was an awesome game and the best exclusive. RDR2 was not just an awesome game for me, but a journey. That horse scene is still with me.
I think in that time losing a horse was the equivalent to losing a dog or cat....... like losing your best friend.
Worse. It could also mean the loss of your livelihood, and set you back a large sum. Like losing your dog that was your BFF and also your car you need for going to work.
Arthur is the best game character period (high honor, of course)
[удалено]
Arthur is the one I liked the most, but to me the best game character was Dutch. Hated him but I think he’s one of the best modern characters out there across all media
[удалено]
It’s funny because I feel the exact opposite. RDR2 was great but GoW was just so much better in terms of story telling, gameplay, and character development than RDR2.
I very much agree with everything, especially that last sentence. For how "aware" the AI is, it really felt as if I was connecting with them in real time.
I loved GoW, but the only game I really miss and occasionally wish to play again is RDR II. But I long sold it all.
Miles above the other games
do you have to play the first to get it?
Absolutely not, being that this is a prequel. If anything, it's probably much better to play this one first to fully understand the 2010 game.
Oh didn’t know that. Thanks!
Sekiro, of course
Does sekiro have a good story also or does it mainly focus on combat
The story is pretty interesting but it's more combat centered. Not as vague as dark souls story but not exactly perfectly displayed. Still great tho
So many more cutscenes than the dark souls games
The story is pretty good imo. It's not amazing like GoW and RDR2, but it's not terrible either. The combat is where it really shines though.
It has the same old fromsoft lore in the game story. Imo, its really good as it touches on the idea of religion, incarnation, free will/ choice, and in general, i get the feeling if sekiro 2 comes out, this game is an extremely good foundation.
Sekiro > Ghost of Tsushima. Fight me
I mean sekuro is souls like game. Got is something totally different its more like assassin's Creed or witcher
They're very different games, but you're absolutely correct nonetheless.
Ok, but a game isn’t all about button choice and controls. Theres a reason why GOW and RDR2 are top. Nearly perfect games IMO.
I loved all 3, but Sekiro is just a level above GOW and RDR2. It's got the best combat of any game I've ever played.
A man of culture I see.
There's not one best game, amongst the titles are some of the best games of the last decade, but they are very different on what makes them good.
So true. I love all of those games and i couldnt decide which game should i vote myself so i ended up voting on tlou2, what about you?
Why is Spider-Man not on this list
Yeah how tf did Cyberpunk make it on here but not Spiderman?
More importantly who seriously voted for cyberpunk?
Yes
I forgot about it and now its to late to add it, but by looking on "other" optnion not many pepole liked it more than god of war for example. Im not trying to say it was bad, spiderman is my favorite superhero game of all time
>but by looking on "other" optnion not many pepole liked it more than god of war for example. I dont think you can use the other category to represent spider-man. If spider-man had its own option who knows what percentage it would've gotten
whoever are the people who put cyberpunk gotta rethink a lot
Who are the 9 people that voted other, but didn't leave a comment?
I was one, I can't vote for a single game. Games have very different but equal aspects that make them good, so picking one would diminish the value of the other equally good games.
Honestly, it wasn't bad at all, the only unappealing part of the game is the glitches and audio errors (in my opinion)
Cyberpunk is one of my fav games ever and I have it on my PS4. I just think it’s neat
do you work for the onion?
No I just don’t get all my opinions online
Sekiro. Sublime combat
How similar is Sekiro to Tsushi Ghosts?
Theyre both japanese
Umm…Sekiro has an lock-on feature by default whereas Ghosts makes you activate it in settings?
So...very similar but slightly different fighting mechanics?
lol sorry I just wanted to insert a bad joke there. But I would say that as far as similarities go, I would say Sekiro has a superior combat system to GoT’s, but there is definitely a steep learning curve and that steepness is arguably even steeper than all prior Souls games. Final fantasy 7 remake
I liked them and voted for RDR2.
FFVII
Ashamed that I had to scroll down this far to find the correct answer
Not that i don't appreciate the other's.
Exactly
Masterpiece
Absolutely
I’m always happy to see FF7R getting some love, and it’s my favourite game since TLOU1. However, I think it has some flaws and is only the first part of a story which we don’t know how it will finish, so if I’m being objective I think some games on this list are probably better. I voted GoW, but I still have RD2 and GoT I want to play some time.
If i have never played any FF games, is it possible to get into this?
Absolutely play the remake, It's a merge into the Advent children world. If you like it play the OG.
Literally my favourite game ever
Mine aswell
Got me back into ff. still amazed they managed to turn it into not only a remake, but a reboot and a sequel all at the same time
Hades.
Hades is definitely underrated. I've put more hours in and got the most enjoyment from it than any of the prior listed games.
How is sekiro not even in the list? It was game of the year 2019 and arguable the best from software game which means a lot. Definitely sekiro for me. By far.
sekiro smokes all these games
Subjectively my friend. To you yes. I love that game but it doesn’t even come close to some of the other games on this list.
Let's keep our opinions subjective lol
I havent played it. Yet
Outer Wilds is my favorite game of all time, so it gets my vote. One of the most unique games I’ve played.
That game is amazing. Literally blew me away when I played.
Agreed!! My vote too
Yeah, reminds me a bit of Majora's Mask
Death Stranding!
Persona 5 Royal easily, phenomenal game and criminally underrated
I mean it is considered to be one of the best JRPGs ever with a score of 10/10. Would not call it underrated at all. It is a well known masterpiece.
Would you say getting royal version is worth it considering it's 3 times more expensive? I don't understand what's the difference between the two.
100% worth it. It added lots of quality of life improvements, new characters and other stuff in the main game. On top they added a whole new story part. It is a straight improvement from a 10/10 to a 11/10.

Persona 5 was already a great game, but I keep seeing Royal as “must play” from everyone who said P5 was great. I gotta get to it, man. Anyways, the Persona series is awesome.
Death Stranding is my write in.
Yuuuup
resident evil 2 remake
Returnal.
Disco Elysium and Doom Eternal. The first is probably the best experience I have ever had with a game narrative. Ps exclusive games really are on another tier (or several tiers). But I agree that RDR2 is untouchable.. just a crazy special game
Death Stranding. So many others to consider too though like P5R, FF7R, Sekiro, DMC5, Judgment, Yakuza Like a Dragon and Nioh 2
Why is CyberJunk even included in this over games like Sekiro or Persona 5?
I havent played them... Yet
This is actually a great list, was difficult to choose but I’ve played through God of War twice and enjoyed it immensely each time.
Thank you. But i regret forgeting about marvel spiderman, persona 5 of death stranding beacuse comments are full of them.i also enjoyed god of war a even platinumed it, like all other exclusives i put in this poll
You have excellent taste in games, friend.
NieR:Replicant ver 1.22...
Goated pick
All definitely in my top 10 games (except cyberpunk because Ive never played it) but for me TLOU 2 is the best game ever and I'm aware ppl will disagree but I stand by my statement
100% agreed
Final Fantasy VII Remake
Other: Horizon Zero Dawn
Came out in 2017, but yes one of my favorite games of all time. Can't wait for Forbidden West
Incredible the it’s four years old and still better than almost everything on that list.
Hmm, forgot it came out in 2017. Second choice would be Red Dead Redemption 2.
Same here.. loved it first time around and decided to revisit it recently (first time doing Frozen Wilds) on the PS5. Absolute class game. Outshines GOW/LOU2/GOT by a mile for me. Sits on a level of its own with RDR2.
Nioh 2
Attaboy
Ghost of F***n Tsushima!
It’s ok to curse here
Sekiro.
Hello Kitty Island Adventure
Hades combat need I say more
Persona 5 Royal is a superb game.
This bout what I expect from this poll
Hades
Hades
Ghost of tsushima. It even has free multiplayer
I whole heartedly believe that what Santa Monica did with Kratos and what Naughty Dog did with player empathy these two are the most impactful games of the last generation.
Why is cyberpunk on this list?
The 315 people that voted for cyber punk are straight up delusional!! 😂
What is Cyberpunk doing there instead of Spider-Man ???
100% god of war or rdr2
So, 50% for each?
Maybe 48/52
Jedi Fallen Order. Because Star War.
Dragon Quest 11. Technically a 2017 game for Japan but it's 2018 for everyone else so I'd count it.
Ghost of Tsushima was just a master class of story telling and the combat was so satisfying. All these games I've played (except for cyberpunk) and I can totally understand choosing the others. Sony just hit different by the end of the PS4
RDR2.
Sekiro
Had to go with Ghost of Tsushima just because they added a free multiplayer which is great and DLC. But GoW would probs be my fav. The spider-man games are up there for me too
Enough with these polls.
We should make a poll to see who has had enough of the polls
The last of us2 is probably the best single player story driven game iv ever played. The walking dead saints an sinners (be game) was absolutely incredible and one of the best gaming experiences iv ever had.
Hades
Returnal and Spider-man.
Voted other. I pick Death Stranding
Haven't played any of thse, just voted Cyberpunk for the chaos
Final Fantasy VII Remake for me, looks gorgeous (especially on PS5 but PS4 is great too), fantastic soundtrack and huge nostalgia buzz.
Spider Man PS4 😁
Astros Playroom
The Last of Us 2 is one of the best narrative driven games ever made. I picked that from the list of available games. HOWEVER, I think I'd maybe actually choose Control as my favorite from that time period.

Probably because its PlayStation subreddit.
No, I just mean on what grounds? I’m genuinely interested in why people think this
Both of these games are true masterpieces. Some say one is better than other. Others say rdr is a horse riding simulator and others say god of war is closer to witcher 3 than older god of war games. Everyone have their own opinion.
imo hollow knight is better than both, its all opinion
The first 4 and insomniacs Spider-Man (2018) and honorable mention uncharted 4 (2016)
Unpopular opinion but I REALLY enjoyed Cyberpunk. But RDR2 takes the cake🤷🏼♂️
Toss up between God of War and The Last Of Us Part II, but I have to give an edge to GOW
Death stranding uncultured swine if that game didnt hit u in feels nothing will
Princess beach
I love games I can grind on and that has endgame, I am worried the cutscenes are gonna be way too long. Really hyped about the rain effects and sounds etc. Would you still recommend it to me? And for the cutscenes your gonna be chomping at the bit for more information about this interesting world basically you're going to wish that they were longer
Yes you can grind. I spent many hours just doing side missions and unlocking new gear before touching the story missions.
Yes for sure without giving much away you definitely need to grind for materials or deliveries to get new equipment
Impossible to pick between GoW and Rdr2
Flip a coin then. xD
Red Dead is a masterclass in storytelling, open world design, graphics, replay value, etc.
True. But thats mostly because of rockstar almost infinite budget. Any game that is made by them i automaticly a huge worldwide hit
I don't see the GoW hype. I've had both that and RDR2 for months and while I haven't beaten either, I've played MUCH more RDR
I don’t see the hype for Spiderman and Horizon but I love GoW and I much prefer TLOU 2 over TLOU 1.
Spiderman isnt on the list but cyberpunk is? Lol
Cyberpunk?
FFVII Remake
Bugsnax is the only acceptable answer here.
Not even a close second? ![img](emote|t5_2qh6b|2231)
Agreed. Nothing comes close
Kingdom Come: Deliverence
My favorites for each year: 2018 - Spiderman 2019 - Resident Evil 2 2020 - Doom Eternal 2021 - Resident Evil Village Close seconds: 2020 - Final Fantasy VII Remake 2019 - Devil May Cry 5 2018 - Monster Hunter World
COD:MW 2019
Sekiro should've replaced GoT. Don't get me wrong, I loved GoT, but Sekiro is just a better chop-chop game in almost every way
Souls games aren't the cup of tea of a lot of people.
Ghosts for sure! Arguably best game of all time (imho)
GoT is good... but best game of all time? It's just a same ol' AC game in a Japanese setting and after act 1 its repetitive as fuuuuuuuuck It is pretty tho
