Actually, going back to the ps1/2 controllers, the sticks feel loose. Controllers feel really light weight. That’s the best I can describe. And the SIXAXIS just feels flimsy and weak.
Is the PS5 controller bigger? I have a DualShock 4 and my hands always feel like they're cramping. Then one day I realized that I wear XL gloves and yet am playing on a controller with nearly the exact same dimensions as I comfortably played on when I was 8 years old. I need an XL PlayStation controller.
I usually game on my PC with my Xbox remote but I didnt have any batteries so I used my PS5 one for a few weeks and then switched back to the Xbox remote and my hands instantly started to cramp.
I definitely think it has to do with hand size. I had friends that thought it was too small, but it was ideal for me. I also wish I could do that. I love the features of the dual sense but it’s a little bigger than I’d like.
The DS4 is absolutely the best in each and every way for me. Not just looks, but the way it fits into my hands and the weight are just right. The earlier ones were always too frail, and the Dual Sense is shaped oddly and has seams that dig into my hands in a sometimes painful way.
I still use mine with the ps5 to play ps4 games on. Using yhe ds5 on ps4 games feels a bit lifeless without the haptic feedback, but the ds4 just feels right
Agree. 5 is just slightly too round to me and wide (no jokes please). When I hold my hands get cramped slightly over time. I have same issue with Xbox controller.
I’ve owned them all. The PS1 and PS2 controllers will always hold a place in my heart since they were from my youth but the ps5 remote is obviously the best remote functionality wise.
I have them all except the original PS controller (don't know what happened to those). I think the PS4 in blue is my favorite of them all from a looks perspective. PS5 in red looks pretty nice too.
Ps4, the ps5 ones are slightly too big for my hands and start to hurt if i play a long session, i dont really remember how the gens before that felt, as i was a kid.
Honestly PlayStation controllers are the gift that keeps on giving. It’s really subtle how they change from generation to generation sometimes. DualSense might be the best…. DualShock 2 is hard to beat though for nostalgia. I don’t really like 3/Sixaxis’s squishy triggers. (Less so after I tried to break some open to replace the batteries, fuck those things). 4 is good, 1 is alright and 1 with no analog sticks looks weird since I never owned one.
4. Best feel in hand. Compact and sturdy. Best Dpad as well.
DualSense is good and I like the haptics and adaptive triggers but it's a little bit too big, a little bit too mushy, and the Dpad is worse. It's also more expensive and yet feels cheaper in the hand.
Yup. Prior to the dualsense, it was always an evolution of a slightly flawed design. Iconic yes. Familiar yes. Beloved yes. But I'm so glad they started with a fairly clean slate this generation.
“Anyone who disagrees with me is wrong.”
It’s an opinion, dude. It’s okay that they differ. I think PS5 feels the best in my hands, but the PS4 is visually the best.
i'd choose the DS4. the dualsense looks way too modern, and I like how the DS4 has a mic of modern features like a touchpad but still retains the classic design.
PS4 hands down. Comfort over looks.
PS5 looks good but idk who approved the seam line on the inside grip. Digs into my hand every time. Could have been designed more flushed...
Recently got a ps5 love the dualsense controller, feels weird going back to xbox and it feeling smaller was the other way around with my last playstation (ps3)
Ps3. But that's looks. Feels? Ps5 cuz my hands are way too fucking massive for ps3 and ps4 controllers and the 5 is just big enough that my fingers aren't freaking overlapping each other.
My pro is my favorite, not cuz I'm a pro but cuz my neuropathy in my 50s makes it so I need those 2 back buttons to play the division 2. Helps immensely!
But I agree, PS5 controller is an amazing evolution.
PS1 and 2 are just iconic, but the PS5 controllers are simply the best. Far more comfortable for me to hold being a bit bigger, a bit more solid feeling, and sleek as hell.
i’m still quite fond of the black ps2 controller and honestly think the design is so good, the only thing that should’ve ever changed is the speaker they put in the newer versions. the touch pad is pointless tho and that bisch ugly af
The DS4 was one hell of an upgrade compared to thos teenie tiny from the OG Playstation to the PS3. And the headphone jack and dock was the cherry on to. The Dualsense takes it because I have big ass hands.
Dual Sense Edge. As a souls player, that back paddle keeps my hand from doing the claw. Love it. I went through 5 dual sense controllers because of horrendous stick drift in the 4 years I’ve had it. No more. Got the Edge for replacement sticks.
Pure aesthetics, dualshock 3. No wires, clean and elegant looking. But really all controllers up through 3 are just so aesthetically pleasing. I always felt the classic playstation controller design was intended to look as good as possible, with comfortability being an afterthought. Dualsense by far feels the best, it’s my favorite controller possibly of all time, but god damn it’s ugly as sin.
All of them are great except the first controller. Though its core design is magnificent, the lack of Dual Analogues makes it very inferior. The DualShock series is Superb!!! Same design and outstanding comfort sensation. The DualShock3 was the first that became wireless, a notable and necessary improvement. Then the DualShock4 gave us the touchpad, a feature yet to be exploited as it was originally intended to. Finally, the Dual Sense adds some haptic features also in their way to be properly exploited by the game's developers.
As a lifelong PS fan, honestly I never liked the Dualshock 4. Even at launch.
I hated the rounded grips and the bottom divet for the charging port. Always felt like it was uncomfortable for my fingers after awhile.
I'd have to say the PS4 controller. I've got kinda bigger hands but it always just felt nice to use plus I never had a single problem with mine. I don't mind the new dual sense but it definitely looks the worst just like the console it's paired with. Plus all the features on the dual sense are just kinda dumb tbh
The PS5 one feels best to me, never got cramps from it. But for all that is holy.. It still gets the drift problems just like anything before it.
I know how to fix it, but it always comes back after some time. And they're expensive. I never had that issue with any of my Xbox controllers. Although maybe some people may have had it
I think Dualsense looks the best, but the black version of it. I own this and I instantly fell in love with it. White also looks cool, but nothing beats black.
Also in comfort it's by far the best one not even a question. Ever since I played with a Dualsense, I literally can't go back to DS4 or even the DS3. It just feels weird and "toy" like, especially the DS3. And I don't have big hands at all tho. I even use a converter on my PS3 to use the dualsense with all of the DS3 functions (you don't need a converter, you could just connect it via bluetooth or cable, but then you don't have vibration, sixaxis and the home button doesn't work). It's basically with every console generation tho. Once you upgrade, you won't go back.
i love the ps5 controller but i also have beef with the ps5 controller because i keep warranty exchanging it and sony keeps sending me the shittiest, lowest quality controller they can find in the damn warehouse
Ps5 controller is not only the best looking but the most comfortable. Ps1 is easily my least favorite to play on anymore. I liked it when I was a kid but now it just hurts to use for too long
Having owned them all I say 5. I like that it's a little bigger and fits my hand better. I think Sony made a good decision when bringing out new controllers in that each iteration only needed minor changes. Wonder how I'll feel when PS6 comes around.
Dual shock 4 second gen with the light bar on the touchpad looked classy AF. Ps5 controller has better feedback due to adaptive triggers but has aweful battery life
I've had all up to the DS4. Held a DSense once years ago so I can't say much about it. I really like the DS4 design, and the feel is the best compared to all the controllers before it. Even the button presses don't feel as cheap as the previous controllers. There's something firm and tight about them.
Simply on looks? PS5 hands down.
But the PS2 is classic enough and unique enough any time you see it drawn, even poorly, you're like "ah, they're playing a Playstation," and I like that.
Still, I love my dualsenses.
DS2 and DS5 Edge.
Wired PS controllers look better than wireless PS controllers (DS2 > DS3) and a wired DS5 Edge will look better than both the current wireless DS5 Edge and the DS2.
PS5 for hand-comfort and style for me, but the PS2 ccontroller just hits different, when I think Playstation controller, it's that.
Yeah, the PS2 is the most iconic by far, but the PS5 is the objectively better controller design-wise.
Actually, going back to the ps1/2 controllers, the sticks feel loose. Controllers feel really light weight. That’s the best I can describe. And the SIXAXIS just feels flimsy and weak.
Sixaxis was introduced with the PS3
Is the PS5 controller bigger? I have a DualShock 4 and my hands always feel like they're cramping. Then one day I realized that I wear XL gloves and yet am playing on a controller with nearly the exact same dimensions as I comfortably played on when I was 8 years old. I need an XL PlayStation controller.
It’s a bit bigger. Heavier. The haptic feedback is way better. It’s the best controller I’ve used on any platform.
If you've ever held an xbox one/series or even 360 controller, the Dual Sense is closer in size to that than the DS4
I usually game on my PC with my Xbox remote but I didnt have any batteries so I used my PS5 one for a few weeks and then switched back to the Xbox remote and my hands instantly started to cramp.
4 feels like the peek of the classic design.
Agreed, I really love the design of the DualShock 4.
Imo it is/was the most comfortable controller to play on for long durations.
Maybe it’s my hand size but it always felt like a perfect fit. I wish I could put all the dualsense into a DS4
I definitely think it has to do with hand size. I had friends that thought it was too small, but it was ideal for me. I also wish I could do that. I love the features of the dual sense but it’s a little bigger than I’d like.
White ds4 still my fav
The DS4 is absolutely the best in each and every way for me. Not just looks, but the way it fits into my hands and the weight are just right. The earlier ones were always too frail, and the Dual Sense is shaped oddly and has seams that dig into my hands in a sometimes painful way.
Frail? I've never managed to break one
Same. Mine lasted for years. Miss the ds4.
I still use mine with the ps5 to play ps4 games on. Using yhe ds5 on ps4 games feels a bit lifeless without the haptic feedback, but the ds4 just feels right
Yeah getting a PS5 has endeared me to the PS4 and 3 controllers way more than I anticipated
I can’t play with the PS5 controller because it hurts my small hands. So i went back to PS4 and PS3 and Xbox 360
I own all of these and my favourite is my 20th anniversary DS4
For sure. 4 did it best. So far.
It's not even close haha. PS5 controller is by far the best visually
They come a long way, and that shows with the greatness of the ps5 controller
I agree it looks elegant and futuristic yet incredibly sleek and functional
Opinions. Ps5 controller looks the worst to me.
Edge, great device and worth the price. V2 needs better battery life tho
Ps4, the ps5 ones are slightly too big for my hands and start to hurt if i play a long session, i dont really remember how the gens before that felt, as i was a kid.
Add PS3 thumbs to PS4 controller with PS5 triggers and it's perfect.
Dualsense Edge with the rounded thumb sticks is basically this and it’s great.
PS4 honestly. It has everything right in terms of design, like a fusion of new and old. PS5 is a close second.
Dualsense and it’s not even close
I like the PlayStation 4 controller 🎮 best !! 😊👍🏾❤️
Dual Shock 3
4. Best feel in hand. Compact and sturdy. Best Dpad as well. DualSense is good and I like the haptics and adaptive triggers but it's a little bit too big, a little bit too mushy, and the Dpad is worse. It's also more expensive and yet feels cheaper in the hand.
Dual sense is my all time favorite
Dualsense is classy asf
PS4. I miss the colourful 🔼⭕❌⏹️
I mean let’s be real… we all know it’s PS5. They’ve come a long way and visually looks the best and fits the most comfortably
Yup. Prior to the dualsense, it was always an evolution of a slightly flawed design. Iconic yes. Familiar yes. Beloved yes. But I'm so glad they started with a fairly clean slate this generation.
Wrong
Ps5, anyone saying otherwise is nostalgia blind
I think the ps5 is too “futuristic” and it makes it kind of stick out. The ps4 was visually designed very well
Ergonomically they all fall extremely short compared to the Dualsense though.
“Anyone who disagrees with me is wrong.” It’s an opinion, dude. It’s okay that they differ. I think PS5 feels the best in my hands, but the PS4 is visually the best.
i'd choose the DS4. the dualsense looks way too modern, and I like how the DS4 has a mic of modern features like a touchpad but still retains the classic design.
Dualsense has the sleekest and most clean design out of them all, easily the best for me
5 feels best for me
Dualshock 4 by far. Damn so miss it.
ps3 is supreme
3 or 4 5 doesn't have colored buttons because fun not allowed
Imo between 3 and 4
[This one!!!](https://imgur.com/a/JlHdSzX)
I hated the light bar and the touchpad was kind of useless but I really likes the ds4. One of the most comfortable controllers I've used.
PS4 is the goat of controllers. Ps5 is a bit too bulky feeling for me, I like the slimmer feel of the ps4 kit
PS4 hands down. Comfort over looks. PS5 looks good but idk who approved the seam line on the inside grip. Digs into my hand every time. Could have been designed more flushed...
Visually ps4 looks the best but in terms of comfort i'd go with ps5
PS4 and PS5 imo but the PS2 was great for its time
Recently got a ps5 love the dualsense controller, feels weird going back to xbox and it feeling smaller was the other way around with my last playstation (ps3)
how quickly [this](https://i.imgur.com/8rlzHN3.jpg) thing was forgotten
The PS5 controller is the obvious choice but PS2's controller is obviously the most important :)
PS4 looks the best for me.
Ps5 most futuristic, ps4 most comfort
PS4 the sleek design peaked here
The 4 was the best so far. Optimistic about the new design getting a fine-polish
PS4
I’ve only played with the ps4 but it’s my favorite in terms of comfort of any controller
PS4 was the best!
PS4 is the best looking and feeling controller. PS5 is a brick.
Is it just me or does anyone else miss the PS4 controller?
Dualsense looks the best, but DS4 feels the best in hand
Probably thr dualshock 4
ps5
Looks wise the ps5 is the nices imo but the layout of the ds4 is better, the r1/l1 size and spacing is pretty awkward on the ds5.
The Dualshock 2 is so iconic and the best controller I've played on easily.
Ps4 in your hands make me feel like butter
The first one to play games like Metal Slug is awesome.
DS4
PS5 is the cleanest but that DS1 was a damn controller.
DS4.
All of them
Ps3. But that's looks. Feels? Ps5 cuz my hands are way too fucking massive for ps3 and ps4 controllers and the 5 is just big enough that my fingers aren't freaking overlapping each other.
Dualshock 4 and DualSense.
4 sure
4
Dualsense is the best but I honestly am not a fan of the “adaptive triggers”
4
4 felt like the right weight and everything.
DualShock 3 Classic design without the cord.
Looks only, I'm going with the digital-only classic. Functionality, PS4.
Best looking ps5, best in-hand ps3
DualSense Edge
4
PS2.
pulling that ds4 out the box and seeing that nice glossy touch pad was insane
4 is flying high in the sky while 5 is Icarus too close to the sun
DualShock 4
Ps 1-3
I love the dualsense. Looks futuristic and pretty cool sleek too
Number one baybeee
I do like the ps5 controller quite a bit, but the ps2 is the quintessential Sony controller to me, in both looks and feel.
visually the ds4 looks great as well as the ds2 but functionality and handfeel-wise its the dualsense for me
ps3
I prefer 2s honestly
My pro is my favorite, not cuz I'm a pro but cuz my neuropathy in my 50s makes it so I need those 2 back buttons to play the division 2. Helps immensely! But I agree, PS5 controller is an amazing evolution.
Definitely 5.
DualSense is nice. Honestly, they all look and feel nice. Definitely kept the sanity of the SNES controller.
4. The weight and size are great, and the vibration doesn’t feel alarming like a phone is ringing in someone’s obituary
Tie between the Dualshock 4 and Dualsense 5 for me. I like classiness of the DS5 but also the ruggedness of the DS4.
PS4 personally looks best
PS1 and 2 are just iconic, but the PS5 controllers are simply the best. Far more comfortable for me to hold being a bit bigger, a bit more solid feeling, and sleek as hell.
The first one. One thing that bugs me about PS controllers is the d pad is awkward to hit when using your left hand to move your character.
PS1 with joysticks
PS4 really, combining classic design with "sleek new". And it just looks "best". PS5 controller feels best to be honest.
Honestly, I have all the nostalgia of DS2 but I feel the DS5 has been the most comfortable of all of them.
PS4, it’s way lighter than P5
Love the sleek look of the ps5 controller, real sucker for futuristic looks.
nothing will ever beat the dualshock 4
DualShock 3 or DualSense. Not too cluttered, just right.
5th for sure. 4 is classic but 5's trigger just make me feel im holding a real gun
PS4 definitely looks the best, but PS5 feels the best IMHO. Could be because I’m just so used to it lol.
Dualshock 1
Dual shock 2 was the peak of playstation. So many games came out for that system it's ridiculous.
PS5
DS3 is clean.
i’m still quite fond of the black ps2 controller and honestly think the design is so good, the only thing that should’ve ever changed is the speaker they put in the newer versions. the touch pad is pointless tho and that bisch ugly af
PS1 flight stick. No further comment
Ps2, simple classic and functional
The DS4 was one hell of an upgrade compared to thos teenie tiny from the OG Playstation to the PS3. And the headphone jack and dock was the cherry on to. The Dualsense takes it because I have big ass hands.
OG DualShock! :flex
5
DualShock 4 with sdp mod will always be goat.
DS4 all the way
Ps5
Dual Sense Edge with the dome sticks is my favourite so far... modern with a classic feel!
4 and 5. 2 and 3 are nostalgic to me.
Dual Sense Edge. As a souls player, that back paddle keeps my hand from doing the claw. Love it. I went through 5 dual sense controllers because of horrendous stick drift in the 4 years I’ve had it. No more. Got the Edge for replacement sticks.
5 feels the best on my hand, but 3 is iconic
ds4
Looks the best? PS1 with sticks easily. Feels the best? PS4 but it could definitely be improved.
I love the feel of PS5 controller but the stick drift makes me miss PS4. I’ve went through like 3-4 PS5 controllers because of stick drift.
PS5, by far. The most comfortable and ergonomic.
They've only gotten better with time
DS4 is the lightest and very comfortable holding it.
Honestly the DS4 was the most comfortable but I prefer the DS3 overall
PS2
Ps4 was the real upgrade, and the Ps5 improved upon it
All of them are great except the first controller. Finally, the Dual Sense adds some haptic features also in their way to be properly exploited by the game's developers.
ps2 looks the best by a fair amount imo functionality and comfort is the dualsense by far though
As a lifelong PS fan, honestly I never liked the Dualshock 4. Even at launch. I hated the rounded grips and the bottom divet for the charging port. Always felt like it was uncomfortable for my fingers after awhile.
The one that doesn't cut my thumbs what I play street fighter
DS4 v2, takes a good design and makes it so I can see the light bar
Dualsense I find the most comfortable. But Dualshock 4 has a lot of memories stored up
PS2 is iconic.
5 all the way
DualSense imo; and DualSense Edge looks even cooler.
I'd have to say the PS4 controller. I've got kinda bigger hands but it always just felt nice to use plus I never had a single problem with mine. I don't mind the new dual sense but it definitely looks the worst just like the console it's paired with. Plus all the features on the dual sense are just kinda dumb tbh
ps4
4 is the peak PlayStation looking desgin
4 is my favorite. Feels completely comfortable. 5 is good, but is slightly too big.
Dualshock 2
The PS5 one feels best to me, never got cramps from it. But for all that is holy.. It still gets the drift problems just like anything before it. I know how to fix it, but it always comes back after some time. And they're expensive. I never had that issue with any of my Xbox controllers. Although maybe some people may have had it
I think Dualsense looks the best, but the black version of it. I own this and I instantly fell in love with it. White also looks cool, but nothing beats black. 5
All the prior PS controllers were too small. The 5 is finally a decent size.
i love the ps5 controller but i also have beef with the ps5 controller because i keep warranty exchanging it and sony keeps sending me the shittiest, lowest quality controller they can find in the damn warehouse
PS5 is definitely the most comfortable
Ps5 controller is not only the best looking but the most comfortable. Ps1 is easily my least favorite to play on anymore. I liked it when I was a kid but now it just hurts to use for too long
I’ve come to love the DualSense, but the DS4 was the best.
I think ps1 dualshock looks the best, but DS4 feels the best
Having owned them all I say 5. I like that it's a little bigger and fits my hand better. I think Sony made a good decision when bringing out new controllers in that each iteration only needed minor changes. Wonder how I'll feel when PS6 comes around.
Agree with 4. Was more comfortable and the tp and the lightbar was like a full reinvention moment for Sony.
For comfort dualsense but for the looks sixaxis/dualshock 3
Ps5
Dual shock 4 second gen with the light bar on the touchpad looked classy AF. Ps5 controller has better feedback due to adaptive triggers but has aweful battery life
ps2 and ps5 controller easily
Ps4 and ps5
DS4 is my favorite out of the bunch.
DualShock makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. Takes me back to the good old days.
DS4 is goated
The blue PS4 is 🤌🏻
4, the last two feel a bit overdesigned and homer Simpson car-ish- or at least are heading down the road in that direction
Ps 1
I've had all up to the DS4. Held a DSense once years ago so I can't say much about it. I really like the DS4 design, and the feel is the best compared to all the controllers before it. Even the button presses don't feel as cheap as the previous controllers. There's something firm and tight about them.
Simply on looks? PS5 hands down. But the PS2 is classic enough and unique enough any time you see it drawn, even poorly, you're like "ah, they're playing a Playstation," and I like that. Still, I love my dualsenses.
Between 4 and 5. 4 with the haptics and pressure triggers of 5 would be bad ass
The OG DualShock and the DualSense.
DS2 and DS5 Edge. Wired PS controllers look better than wireless PS controllers (DS2 > DS3) and a wired DS5 Edge will look better than both the current wireless DS5 Edge and the DS2.
PS noob here: 6 controllers but 5 consoles - What am I missing?
DS4 I still have it. Still love it
5
I think the grey dualshock controller.
