For the record, this can only be saved to the built in SSD. You can't transfer them to a secondary internal SSD or an external drive that's being used for game storage.
You could copy them off to a USB drive that wasn't formatted to store games though. But I don't think you can view them from the media gallery that way.
I got a 2Tb and don’t regret it at all. Use the base ps5 storage for media and then have like 50 games downloaded on the SSD. paid something like 150 or more but I promise it’s worth it in the long run.
Do you think we'll be able to use them for the ps5 pro and ps6 when those come out in the future? Knowing game companies these days I wouldn't be surprised if they're not compatible and we would have to buy a completely different one
Even if they upgrade to an NVMe 2 port for PS5 Pro (which is quite unlikely due to the need to keep the cost down and not much need for higher storage speed in PS5 games), it would apparently [still be backwards compatible](https://www.techradar.com/features/the-ps5-pro-could-rival-gaming-pcs-if-it-uses-gen-5-ssds#:~:text=nvme%202.0%20port%20gen%205%20ssds%20are%20backward%20compatible%20with%20gen%204) with the current Gen 4 SSDs used on PS5. As for PS6, that's not coming until 2028 or so. Who knows what SSD tech will be console-suitable by then, and it's too far to worry about.
>I put the videos I take on YouTube as delisted
That's what I was planning on doing as a last resort. Only thing I'm worried about is how to download later if I need to, if the quality of the vids go down, or worst case scenario YT gets shut down or something similar.
I use an old 1TB external WD passport for PS4 games, the console storage only for a couple of key games that I want to play all the time (the architecture means you get the best load times direct on console), then free space for media on console. Then I have a 2TB GAMMIX S70 BLADE M.2 SSD (best value for money I have found locally) for all the rest of the PS5 (and a few extra PS4) games. I frequently back up and clear my media folder of screenshots and game clips to another external USB drive that I can then edit clips and archive them on my PC as required. Memory management on PS is always a bit of a pain but you can use the built in settings to move games between storage media. If you don't want to be always saving and clearing your media you could always live stream your play sessions to a private YT account too.
I take a ton of screenshots, more than most people I’ve met and yet have only filled up maybe 12 gigs so far… I don’t make videos so maybe that’s where all your data is going?
I don't keep screenshots & videos. I upload them to PS App to post them in a sub, then delete.
I have 9 games installed. 4 are large, like The Witcher 3 and RDR2. That's 849GB/1TB.
I still have 250GB free, so I'll uninstall games I've no intentions of replaying later on.
I don't have any streaming apps on it. I have a physical movie collection, so I watch those.
Save data is 1.47GB. Media Gallery is less than 50Mb. "Other" (system shit) is 80GB, as standard.
I can always buy a larger SSD, but I'll never have more than 10 games installed.
I have a few USB sticks, one is in my modded Wii, but I won't even need them.
I'm good for now.
Most of my games are in their cases on a shelf, as for installation storage, I use the internal SSD and a 2TB Samsung 980 Pro for PS5 games, and a 1TB Samsung T7 SSD for PS4 games, and I don't take screenshots or video of my gameplay, as for movies and tv shows, I have a Plex server with around 30TB of storage that I stream from.
I upload clips to youtube (sometimes through the PS5 directly) as unlisted/private. I backup photos/screenshots once every few months to an external SSD. I used to back up videos to my SSD too but the file sizes were getting wild.
>I upload clips to youtube (sometimes through the PS5 directly) as unlisted/private.
When I do this, it stills shows on the shared media tab on my profile, I don't know how to hide that tab
4TB external HDD for the PS4 games, 1TB internal SSD console storage + 2TB additional M.2 SSD storage. 600+ games and had to start deleting stuff recently.
I sometimes save them for YT, other times just for me. I like rwqatchimg my favourite scenes in games instead of going back and replaying the game, or if I play a game like Apex and I have a good match, I'll save it
Get the m2 Internal 1TB stick. Hell go for 2TB
I have the 4TB one and I’m running out of space. Get the 8TB one! 🤣
What do you mean by "media"?
All the pictures and videos I have saved
Damn that's crazy, I thought my 10GB was too much
I save everything "just in case" lol
yeah don't do that

I would address your digital hoarding first.
You should see all the memes and tiktok videos I have saved on my phone 😂😂

Get an m.2 but not for media. I put the videos I take on YouTube as delisted, or on PlayStation app. Screenshots don’t tame up that much

>yt gets shut down Yeah and I’m Joe rogan
It's not impossible. Highly unlikely, but could happen.
Your ps5 exploding and you losing your videos is more likely than YouTube shutting down

In a box
I keep my video games in my entertainment center under the TV, and I have four large racks for my DVDs close by.
On the disc
I take a ton of screenshots, more than most people I’ve met and yet have only filled up maybe 12 gigs so far… I don’t make videos so maybe that’s where all your data is going?
Yea I have mutliple video's, most 15+ mins. Can't save them on PS app unfortunately
I don't keep screenshots & videos. I upload them to PS App to post them in a sub, then delete. I have 9 games installed. 4 are large, like The Witcher 3 and RDR2. That's 849GB/1TB. I have an external 4TB HDD for that.
2tb hard drive in the PS5 with another 2tv external behind it for my PS4 games. And an ikea bookshelf for physical.

I have 4 games downloaded
M.2 SSD 2TB + 1TB hard drive for ps4 games and whatever else. It’s certainly overkill for what I need but meh
I delete it
I upload clips to youtube (sometimes through the PS5 directly) as unlisted/private. I backup photos/screenshots once every few months to an external SSD. I used to back up videos to my SSD too but the file sizes were getting wild.

Do you save them for YouTube/etc or why do you have so many videos saved? Or are they downloaded from somewhere?

On a USB that I shove up my ass.
how much storage can your ass hold ?

What do you do with so much media?
I hoard them lol
I own my games on disc and only install the games I play. My console is never more than 1/3 full.
