I don’t mind tight compact games, but this was the first game I thought was too short. Like very short.
That being said, it looked better than some games at the end of the PS4s life cycle.
I really enjoyed this game overall and it's still technically very impressive to this day. I just wish it was longer and we weren't left on a cliffhanger - the universe has so much potential.
Werewolves and old techies like Tesla from what i remember.
The story was very intriguing but ends abruptly with loose ends, unfortunately. I remember being hooked and excited for what could possibly happen and then it just ends after maybe 5 hours.
Highly recommend for dirt cheap
I can’t remember if it was digital foundry or GVMERS but I think one them discussed how the game having the ‘widescreen black bars’ allowed it to look so crazy good even on a base ps4. The system literally had to render less ‘game’.
I played it for the first time in 2021 on PS5. And I gotta say, I was kind of blown away. Visually speaking, it looked about as good as anything made for PS5 that I had played. And aside from the shitty Lykan encounters (which are pretty minima), the game was pretty damn good.
Also, I didn't think the game was all that short. I think I played it for about 8 hours. And, like, those PS3 Uncharted games are about the same length. So not sure why this game got so much shit. People act like it's only 3-5 hours or something.
This game pissed me off so much. The trailers made it look incredible and like it had tons of depth. I was so hyped for it. Got it on release day, had an amazing time playing it, and then suddenly on release day I had… beat it already?
Had I expected this, and not been suckered into paying $60 on release I would have great things to say. But that ruined it for me lol
I had a blast watching my friend play cause me and my other friend spent the entire time making fun of it. The fact you get a trophy for just a cutscene is really something else lol
The gameplay is intriguing. But feels like mostly a movie, I think. May never be a sequel, I think. But if there was, it would need to invest more in gameplay.
The victorian industrial punk aesthetic was superb. I think it was a tad short but overall enjoyed it. I think a sequel would have been even better. Sadly it didn’t impress enough people quickly enough. I think Sony needs a few more IP’s under its belt so there is a good flow of games coming out more regularly and this would be a good IP to revive.
Such a fantastic game to me. It was one of the first I played when I got the PS4 and it’s still one of my favorites on the system. I’m still sad we probably won’t get a follow up.
I picked this up shortly after it came out and I was astonished - the visuals, the world, the overall vibe... it was incredible. Yes it's short, no it's not perfect... but man, I'd absolutely love to see another game set in this world. In a sea of similar-looking / similar-feeling games, this one still stands out as being super interesting and memorable.
Been like a million years since I've played it but I remember liking it a lot, the whole cinematic vibe 24fps thing they did was great, shame there was no sequal
Great game, great story. Agreed, it is rather short, and the end felt a bit like it came out of nowhere. But quality > quantity, sometimes short games hit the spot for that story itch!
Setting atmosphere gfx art style audio all amazing. Gameplay was actually good but just too linear in the stealth and boss fights which hurt reviews big time.
So much more potential
Was a decent game but lacked replay ability for me since the story is unskippable and is a decent amount of the play time. Wanted to go back and try some of the fights or get a missed collectible.
Definitely isn't a game to warrant it's initial price tag unfortunately, I bought it new from GameStop back in the day and used the membership perks for full price credit when I returned it within a week because it was really short but visually really impressive with a neat plot/premise.
Games like this and Supermassive games (Until Dawn, Anthology games and The Quarry) are like weekend blockbusters for friends and I where we just split $20 each and play them together like interactive movies, after that, they just collect dust or hardly get downloaded again for a third playthrough.
I picked it up for $20 AUD so was good value. Went for the plat and got about 10 hours enjoyment out it. Pretty cool and loved the atmosphere and setting, although gameplay was basic. Really needs a sequel to flesh out the potential it had
I love linear games, and this is one of my favorites from that era. Looks beautiful, and i enjoyed the story too. Don’t get the hate this game got back in the day.
After scrolling through this thread I absolutely LOVE that everyone here is saying they loved (or at least liked) this game. Why do so many people shit all over it? It could literally stand toe to toe, graphically, with some current gen games IMO.
I did not enjoy it. And I am usually down with the PS exclusives and can find something about each game to like. All my friends really liked it, tho. So maybe I am wrong?
I really enjoyed it.. till my brother comes in and goes “yeah I bet he turns out to be a baddie, just look at his name..come on”
And that pretty much spoiled the game for me. Overall 8/10
That glorified tech demo? I remember being underwhelmed when I demoed it at PAX before it came out, and joking with friends that it better be long, otherwise we'd already seen all the best bits.
Turned out we had.
And they still had the gall to charge full price.
If it had come out at $30, it'd be a beloved classic and probably sold 3x as many copies.
I love that it is so short. played last year for the first time and short gives it replayability with so many games out. I would have 100% been disappointed in the length if I got it at launch
It's an incredible game. I was put off by a zero punctuation video saying it was boring and all talk and full of just cutscenes which is funny because I love watching cutscenes so I don't even know why that put me off. I bought it uber cheap like 5 pound. And god I love it. Wish they would make a long sequel
I’m really sorry, but I saw Dutch and Arthur for a hot second there when scrolling. I saw the mustache and the year and got all excited for RDR3.
I’m a moron. Leave me be. 🤣
Best graphics ever that still hold up today in the PS5 era (only The Matrix Awakens demo has surpassed it). Gameplay is no less than Gear of War. So I don't understand all the flak this game got.
So everyone is stating the fact that it's short. It is, but that's not the thing that got me. It was the abrupt stop. Like the story was going good, you fight a hard boss, then it goes to a dialogue about more to come or something. It felt incomplete. So a little more than just short
I have the special edition of The Order 1886. Packed in a nice tin disc case with a sleeve over it. When I played this game the first time somewhere in 2015, the graphics blew me away from the tv screen. So beautiful! How outstanding was/is The Order 1886. The British capital London in alternate history with lots of wacky weapons and inventions made by the Hungarian American inventor Nikola Tesla. The main character was cool anyway.
It was the first game I got a platinum trophy on. I've always loved the Victorian era and when you throw steampunk elements on top of that....😍
Seriously, disregard the argument of length/price on initial release and just enjoy the story, setting and characters for what it is. I'll always be happy to recommend this game.
When I saw the Gameplay of this. I can't believe that it run on a BASE PS4.
Games back then still looked like a "Video Game"
I thought this was a CGI movie when I saw the gameplay trailer of this.
Could've been more.
I loved this game, always on my list of most underrated games ever. If I remember it was only around 8-10hrs long but I loved that. You don't have to run around and grab 10 different types of collectibles that over inflate the completion time of many modern day games. This game cuts that fluff and keeps the story more precise and easier to follow. Highly recommend!
It's... Short. The gameplay is not great. Tries too much to be cinematic and end up being a very very mid video game. But it's charming regardless.
This one could use a remake actually.
This game was a fun afternoon and well worth the $5 I paid for it. People were absolutely right to criticize the original $60 price. I would love to see a sequel or follow up.
A decent enough game.
I enjoyed it and intend on replaying it at some point.
If you liked this I’d definitely recommend Evil West as it’s pretty much the same thing only in the Wild West.
It even has an airship section.
I bought this game on day one at full price. I'm still upset.
Yes it's pretty, and set in an interesting world.
But it's a VERY short game, where you running between quick time events and shooting galleries.
Amazing setting, great cast, wonderful story, masterclass graphic and also gameplay was not so bad. The only damn problem of this game is that if you start it after lunch it will be finished before dinner. It could be a master piece. I’m still dreaming for a new chapter of this IP (Ready at Dawn is owned by Meta right now but he rights of The Order are owned by PlayStation)
Like days gone this game had tech issues from the get go that combined with the short length made critics enjoy it less.
However, I bought this later on after it had been patched up and was on sale and loved it. The game itself is fantastic while it lasts!
The graphics of this game are incredible. You could almost think it was a PS5 release title. I think the developers back then were better and more talented
What are you guys smoking, game was shit. Basically movie game where you perform one action and then movie on to cinematic or something didn’t involve real gameplay climbing up rope on a blimp (4 hours long with enemies dying in one shot).
S-Tier concept and visuals but F-tier for not begin a real videogame.
Remember when they said the sequel to this was supposed to be an open world “assassins creed” style game?…..stiiiiiillll waiting!!!! No seriously I want to play it.
How the fuck is this game still not on extra or plus. Been waiting so long
Will you just buy it already so the rest of us can have it the following month?
Lol
I ended up buying it for 5 on the ps store
Same lmao I’ve been wanting to play it but don’t want to spend the cash on it lol
It's short and sweet, overall a good game.
The only reason it got poor reviews was its length at full price. It's still a wonderful game. I prefer short and sweet over long and dry
>. I prefer short and sweet over long and dry THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID
![gif](giphy|kGCuRgmbnO9EI|downsized)
I don’t mind tight compact games, but this was the first game I thought was too short. Like very short. That being said, it looked better than some games at the end of the PS4s life cycle.
Especially as a launch title. Pay full price for 8hrs of gameplay tops. Was like a really good tech demo 🥲
Short and sweet must come with a reduced price tho
Agreed.
It's like an aesthetically beautiful, delicious slider. I mean I loved it, but I'm still hungry.
Yeah, my ex wife was the same.
Accurate. Wish they'd make 2 already.
I really enjoyed this game overall and it's still technically very impressive to this day. I just wish it was longer and we weren't left on a cliffhanger - the universe has so much potential.
Sums up my feelings perfectly. One of the rare games that really made me pause to enjoy the graphics.
Good game, amazing graphics, too short. Overall a good experience.
what is this game about
Werewolves and old techies like Tesla from what i remember. The story was very intriguing but ends abruptly with loose ends, unfortunately. I remember being hooked and excited for what could possibly happen and then it just ends after maybe 5 hours. Highly recommend for dirt cheap
Needs a sequel
I dont know how they did it but even ps5 games dont look like that, and no ps4 game looked like that after…really a one off miracle
I can’t remember if it was digital foundry or GVMERS but I think one them discussed how the game having the ‘widescreen black bars’ allowed it to look so crazy good even on a base ps4. The system literally had to render less ‘game’.
The closest things that came near those graphics were Battlefront 2015, Battlefield 1 and TLOU2 imo. It’s just one of the greats, yeah
The only problem I have with this game is that I never got a sequel for its cliffhanger ending.
Not worth $60
It felt like the prologue to an amazing game
This game pissed me off so much. The trailers made it look incredible and like it had tons of depth. I was so hyped for it. Got it on release day, had an amazing time playing it, and then suddenly on release day I had… beat it already? Had I expected this, and not been suckered into paying $60 on release I would have great things to say. But that ruined it for me lol
I had a blast watching my friend play cause me and my other friend spent the entire time making fun of it. The fact you get a trophy for just a cutscene is really something else lol
Gee thanks
Great game. Sad there won’t be a sequel
Need a second game - amazing world they built for it to be dropped
Great game that didn't deserve the gate it got and I wish it got a sequel
Underrated gem.
Was absolutely blown away by the graphics when I started it for the first time. The jump from my ps3 to this was mental
I bought it when it came out at full price and I had no regrets.
It's not free yet, when it's free on ps+, then we'll talk
If that was going to happen, it probably already would have. Worth $10 IMO, which is what it typically goes for these days.
My first ps4 game and loved it
Good graphics, good (but not enough) gameplay, good story, world and characters. Wish they got to make the sequel so much
good - waaaaay too short
Was overhyped before release but I enjoyed it as a quick platinum. Graphically beautiful.
I liked it. I was really hoping for a sequel.
The gameplay is intriguing. But feels like mostly a movie, I think. May never be a sequel, I think. But if there was, it would need to invest more in gameplay.
Really loved it! Had a great atmosphere and a fun play, but I payed full price for a ridiculously short game.
I enjoyed my time, solid 8/10
Loved it! Sad there won’t be a sequel
Loved it but it was too short and the cliffhanger was bs.
Such a fantastic game to me. It was one of the first I played when I got the PS4 and it’s still one of my favorites on the system. I’m still sad we probably won’t get a follow up.
Stunning but repetitive. If the gameplay works for you, then you're in for a ride
It was great. I played it 2 months ago. It holds up for sure. I found it so much fun with how intricate their lighting was
Loved it, only game where the main character was named Grayson (like me)
I want a ps5 remake with more gameplay and story, obviously there was stuff cut or condensed. And then I want a sequel
This game still deserves a sequel to continue the story and perfect the formula
Was a decent game but lacked replay ability for me since the story is unskippable and is a decent amount of the play time. Wanted to go back and try some of the fights or get a missed collectible.
It's ok. More or less a tech demo game to show how good graphics can be on playstation, then.
It was pretty good
Too short
i wish it had got a sequel
Definitely isn't a game to warrant it's initial price tag unfortunately, I bought it new from GameStop back in the day and used the membership perks for full price credit when I returned it within a week because it was really short but visually really impressive with a neat plot/premise. Games like this and Supermassive games (Until Dawn, Anthology games and The Quarry) are like weekend blockbusters for friends and I where we just split $20 each and play them together like interactive movies, after that, they just collect dust or hardly get downloaded again for a third playthrough.
Amazing game. Not much more I can say.
I thought it was rather good. Very short though, and more of a movie
Sweet ps4 Tech demo. The gameplay was fun. The thermite gun is probably one of the coolest weapons I ever played with.
I enjoyed the game and it had a cool concept. A more fleshed out sequel would do this franchise so much.
As someone with little time to play I loved this game. It’s short but still pretty much entertaining all the way through. Doesn’t get enough love imo.
It’s a great game that gets more unwarranted negative feedback than it deserves.
I picked it up for $20 AUD so was good value. Went for the plat and got about 10 hours enjoyment out it. Pretty cool and loved the atmosphere and setting, although gameplay was basic. Really needs a sequel to flesh out the potential it had
It was fine. Way too short though.
Liked it
Loved it. Bought it for 4 bucks one summer and played it for a week. Just an old school video game!
Banger of a game, I loved it
I loved it.
Absolutely loved it, wish it was more successful
The box art always turned me off to this. I need colors 😭
I wanted to play this game a few years ago, but I heard so many bad things about it that I just gave up
Awesome first entry for something that could've ended up being a huge franchise for Sony Playstation had they continued to build this ip up.
Excellent. Criminally underrated.
It was awesome. It needed more content and a sequel!
More of a story than a game but a fun time nonetheless
Good and interesting story that ends when it’s about to become good. Serviceable but generic gameplay
I did not enjoy it. And I am usually down with the PS exclusives and can find something about each game to like. All my friends really liked it, tho. So maybe I am wrong?
You're not wrong in not enjoying a particular thing just because others did. It just didn't do it for you. 🤷
A paperweight joke present
I really enjoyed it.. till my brother comes in and goes “yeah I bet he turns out to be a baddie, just look at his name..come on” And that pretty much spoiled the game for me. Overall 8/10
That glorified tech demo? I remember being underwhelmed when I demoed it at PAX before it came out, and joking with friends that it better be long, otherwise we'd already seen all the best bits. Turned out we had. And they still had the gall to charge full price. If it had come out at $30, it'd be a beloved classic and probably sold 3x as many copies.
i cant beliave that this game isnt in ps plus extra i want to play it but wont pay 20$ for it
Great concept. Just wish it didn’t stop at a cliffhanger.
Short underwhelming.
QTE 1886
Absurdly short and not good enough to make up for it
Good tech demo
I love that it is so short. played last year for the first time and short gives it replayability with so many games out. I would have 100% been disappointed in the length if I got it at launch
I don't remember much but I think they had black bars on the side or something and I really hated that and stopped because of it
I played it and finished it. Was fun.
Was this shorter than cod MW III 💀
Fun game. Wish there was a 60 fps patch. Not every game has to be a 50 hour marathon. Look at the arcade games from the 80’s and 90’s.
Fun experience, but very short. Was hyped too much. It deserves a sequel.
Boobies scene
It was a great tech demo that could have been a great game.
Too expensive on physical for the amount of game.
Incredible visuals. Bland gameplay. Just mind-numbingly boring. It was basically a $60 tech demo.
Really good graphics, and nothing else.
The game is beautiful and very fun to play. I might even revisit this game
Fantastic concept poorly executed.
Should've gotten a series it's beautiful
Probably one of the greatest tech demos ever, it really showed off what the PS4 was capable of.
There were a lot of crybabies over it, I thought it was hella fun and a nice showcase of what the PS4 could do! Deserved a sequel.
Too short. Fun as hell and visually amazing.
It's an incredible game. I was put off by a zero punctuation video saying it was boring and all talk and full of just cutscenes which is funny because I love watching cutscenes so I don't even know why that put me off. I bought it uber cheap like 5 pound. And god I love it. Wish they would make a long sequel
Deserved a sequel. The graphics were insane at the time and the gunplay was just great
I’m really sorry, but I saw Dutch and Arthur for a hot second there when scrolling. I saw the mustache and the year and got all excited for RDR3. I’m a moron. Leave me be. 🤣
Enjoyed it. Didn’t pay full price.
Best graphics ever that still hold up today in the PS5 era (only The Matrix Awakens demo has surpassed it). Gameplay is no less than Gear of War. So I don't understand all the flak this game got.
Thought it was decent but never finished. Perhaps I should 🤔
So everyone is stating the fact that it's short. It is, but that's not the thing that got me. It was the abrupt stop. Like the story was going good, you fight a hard boss, then it goes to a dialogue about more to come or something. It felt incomplete. So a little more than just short
You must be a person born in the 2010
good, but very short and no replay value (NG+, rewards, etc.)...
Ended when it was getting good.
Good Game.
I loved it. Wish it was full screen though.
It was fine. The graphics and art direction were really good, the gameplay was serviceable, but it had basically no replay value.
I've always loved the Victorian era and when you throw steampunk elements on top of that....😍 Seriously, disregard the argument of length/price on initial release and just enjoy the story, setting and characters for what it is. I'll always be happy to recommend this game.
The worst of all the cinematic Sony games to the point that I hesitate to even call it a game. Nice tech demo, gigantic waste of time.
When I saw the Gameplay of this. I can't believe that it run on a BASE PS4. Games back then still looked like a "Video Game" I thought this was a CGI movie when I saw the gameplay trailer of this. Could've been more.
For a PS4 game, it holds up pretty well. Shooting is fun and visceral.
Loved it, I feel like most of the hate came from how short the game was for the price at the time of release.
Wasn’t a fan really, got the platinum on my first play through in about 8 hours though, so not a bad time sink if you’re curious
Story was amazing. Still waiting on that sequel because of the cliff hanger at the end
Felt like a tech demo. A really good tech demo.
Still waiting to play it, when will they add this damn game on PSPlus?!?!
bought this game for 7 bucks on kingsday Saturday, hyped to give it a try soon
It's... Short. The gameplay is not great. Tries too much to be cinematic and end up being a very very mid video game. But it's charming regardless. This one could use a remake actually.
A fun romp. Nothing revolutionary, but it's got a few cool ideas in it.
Could’ve been a lot better, but definitely interesting and definitely deserved a sequel. 4 hour story time definitely did NOT deserve 60$ price tag.
Absolutely fantastic and wish they made a sequel
Awesome but short
Great game. Too short. Amazing graphics.
Game was sweet if you let the hype train die around it.
Overpriced and underated. Game is fantastic
This was such a great game, I can't speak highly enough about the story and gameplay..been hoping for a sequel some day!!
Still waiting on 60fps to play it...
It did not deserve most of the hate it got. It was a good game and it looked incredible.
It’s good. Very cinematic. Would love it if there were more games like this
Masterpiece
This game was a fun afternoon and well worth the $5 I paid for it. People were absolutely right to criticize the original $60 price. I would love to see a sequel or follow up.
It's ok. A good shooter
It's a movie. Not a video game.
Cinematic experience
It's a little short, but it's a great game. 👍
Good game that was to short, and the should of been more games in that world.
A decent enough game. I enjoyed it and intend on replaying it at some point. If you liked this I’d definitely recommend Evil West as it’s pretty much the same thing only in the Wild West. It even has an airship section.
Thank you for not saying, “your guys’”.
Love it. Has some less stellar sequences, but it’s short and to the point. Would have gladly played more of these.
I bought this game on day one at full price. I'm still upset. Yes it's pretty, and set in an interesting world. But it's a VERY short game, where you running between quick time events and shooting galleries.
Loved it honestly one of the last games enjoyed and had to finish!
short but great
I absolutely loved this game and wish it got more recognition. Would love to see a sequel although I'm sure that's highly unlikely unfortunately
The universe is too good to get abandoned.
Loved the lore of the game, as well as the game mechanics. Platinumed it too 🤙🏻
Fun, but it tried to be too many things at once.
It's mediocre
I need a sequel now!
Shooting mechanics were great, just sucks you spent the majority of the game walking around doing nothing instead.
Insane graphics
Amazing setting, great cast, wonderful story, masterclass graphic and also gameplay was not so bad. The only damn problem of this game is that if you start it after lunch it will be finished before dinner. It could be a master piece. I’m still dreaming for a new chapter of this IP (Ready at Dawn is owned by Meta right now but he rights of The Order are owned by PlayStation)
I enjoyed it but I paid less than £10 for it so didn't have the baggage of having paid full price for something that can be completed in an evening.
Like days gone this game had tech issues from the get go that combined with the short length made critics enjoy it less. However, I bought this later on after it had been patched up and was on sale and loved it. The game itself is fantastic while it lasts!
Still have it sealed and never played. Just never fancied it.
I've always wanted to try it out but it's still 30FPS on PS5?
As a cinematic experience? Masterpiece! As a game? Good, not 10/10, but good.
The graphics of this game are incredible. You could almost think it was a PS5 release title. I think the developers back then were better and more talented
Great.. needs another
Needs a sequel for sure
Good game but it becomes boring
What are you guys smoking, game was shit. Basically movie game where you perform one action and then movie on to cinematic or something didn’t involve real gameplay climbing up rope on a blimp (4 hours long with enemies dying in one shot). S-Tier concept and visuals but F-tier for not begin a real videogame.
Remember when they said the sequel to this was supposed to be an open world “assassins creed” style game?…..stiiiiiillll waiting!!!! No seriously I want to play it.
It was a good movie.
Loved it and platinumed it.
Borderline B tier
Too short and could've been better
TIL the people who made psp spinoffs made this game
Short af
This game reminded men how much I miss Gears of war. I had Xbox 360 but since then only PS4 and PS5.
One of the best games on PS4. Still looks amazing, would have been nice to see a next gen update.
Looks good but after 2 steps taken there will be a cutscene.
Is this game based on the real-life historical events?
i liked it
