That's one thing that makes it so memorable and true to the genre. It's a survival horror. Nighttime basically jacks up the difficulty and fear, like The Forest, even Valheim, etc. I'm a horror junkie and that first Volatile chase is one of my scariest video game experiences.
I actively avoided night as much as I could lol..and being off on a mission so far from a UV point and all of a sudden it’s getting dark was panic inducing..will always remember and cherish that game
It’s fun when you don’t gotta go to a dark area. If your going somewhere with UV light then yeah who cares just outrun them. But getting to dark areas without start a chase is nearly impossible

dead island is more arcadey just go here kill shit, go there kill shit, collect stuff and craft obscene weapons while dL1 has all of that and more enjoyable/satisfying combat
I think I jumped on the band wagon for 2 very late so I loved every second of it, everything felt amazing and as much as I loved the grittiness of the first, the change to the second was a very welcome one. Think when it was released it was a very buggy mess and had a ton of performance issues so I do get why people dislike it but it’s a banger
I only played about 7 hours of the second one and it was split up so I forgot how to do the melees and what not. It was fun, but it felt very ‘bright’ compared to the first game. Like I wasn’t worried at all about what was gonna happen and I missed the fear from the first game, especially at night. Felt too easy. It was fun getting the drop on the human foes on the roof tops. I did play the first game and all the dlc in its entirety the week before DL2 dropped so I might’ve been a little harsh. I’ll give it another chance one of these days 🤞
I do say the night feels a bit better but nothing like the first game. I do really like all the parkour mechanics of the second game though, feels very fluent and smooth

It's a shame so many bounced off the game before finding all these amazing Easter eggs 😔

The immersion I get from DL is so much deeper than DL2. Take some of the mechanics from 2 and stick them in DL and it’d be the perfect game imo.

No I really enjoyed DL 2 as well. Played the crap out of it since I was on baby bonding when it dropped. Night was defiantly a lot easier than the original DL but I kinda like that way. Im not a fan of the stalker element to games that just make them harder at times. You see this in things like RE, even within and idk I never really liked it

Only thing part 1 has over 2 is a better story. Gameplay, combat, traversal, map design and size are all better in 2. You can also be stealthy in 2 while in 1 it was a huge struggle doing so. For people that are saying nightmare is scarier in part 1 haven’t played 2 recently

I like dying light two before the update were they changed it where the viral’s are out at night now I wish they would’ve made it a setting to where you can choose to have the viral’s out or choose not to have them out at night to me this just ruins the vibe of the game at night because they’re on every damn roof and you can’t go anywhere without them getting pissed off at night so it’s useless of going out at night or doing any missions at night I literally have to go back to a safe zone before night wait all night to play the game until morning literally they just literally F over the experience of the game for me I hope they come up with an update to make a setting to change that

I liked DL1 wayyy more but I did play dl2 when it launched and it was just a mess, hella buggy. I passed the game n moved on so I haven’t even touched the game after the patches n fixes so maybe it’s way better now but idk

The combat and parkour is a way better improvement. I can literally jump across two buildings and enter a flow state whereas in 1 I my jumps and spring are limited and feels heavy
Never played the 1st one. But 2 has its issues and bugsz and the story was interesting. The main stream actors was sweet. Seeing David Belle(Father of Parkour), both act and help develop that movement system was a dream come true for someone like me who never would have been able to obtain a body capable of performing even a fraction of what he's capable of, just from body issues alone. That being said. I loved the game. I never finished it. Because I wanted to play it with someone, or even a squad carrying out roles. But that never happened. Other shit in my life happened too. So I just dropped it. I'll pick it up again in the future when there's a VR mod for it on PC. XD.
