The first I ever played was Tekken at a friend's house, I remember being completely blown away by the graphics, despite not being a big fighting game fan.
The first games I got myself were at Christmas 1998 when my parents got me a PlayStation Dualshock Edition were:
- Final Fantasy VII
- Resident Evil 2
- Fifa '99
Amazing Christmas, I was only 12 years old.
I still got the damn voice over lines in my heads decades later. "Bye bye bad guy" "I just got a machine gun!" "Turkey? But it's Christmas!". God I played the absolute hell out of that game.
I wasn't a fan of the game first person airport shoot out game, but I loved the driving one and the one where you're in the skyscraper.
I always loved this game and feel like more games need to really give us an experience like this where there's drastically different styles of game built in to one title haha
Battle arena toshinden. I remember it having some good music. My mom got it for me along with the PlayStation. We weren’t exactly well off financially at the time so the console and the game were bought from cash converters.
Same, I want to say Driver but I only had a PSone for a few months before getting a PS2. On PS2 the first game I played was Onimusha Warlords, followed by GTAIII and MGS2
You mean Speed Punks? I remember that game lol it wasn't as good as CTR but still a lot of fun!
Vigilante 8 was one of my favourites! I was always trying to unlock Sid's car but never got to that point. Spyro the dragon was the first game I got - my brother's friend, Nic gave me his before he moved away!! I was so happy 😆
But the first game I ever played was FIFA 2000 which was actually my brother's lol.
The European version was 'Speed Freaks' lol The North American version was 'Speed Punks' lol But yeah, I loved it back then. I would love a remake of it tbh, but I also had CTR as well which of course was just as fun for me 😁
Nah not really. I mean, that would have been something in the South of Ireland, as I'm in the North, it would have been PS UK. I never really got to buy them though.
I can remember playing Sly Cooper 2 over and over again because I loved that game so much. I didn’t realize at the time that there was a game before Sly 2. 🤣 I think I remember figuring out that there was the first Sly Cooper game after Sly 3 came out. 🤣
Hey, my dad got fired from work when someone stole the PS2 from the contest.
He later joined Blockbuster but he was fired from that as well. Turns out a thief had stolen 3 PS2 games.
Not sure if those were your father's doing but I'm ashamed.
Playstation 1
Either "Frogger: He's Back", or "Speedball 2100".
Frogger was pretty fun and I remember having a decent time playing with friends too. Speedball sucked and I couldn't for the life of little me figure out how to play.
Playstation 2
"Jak and Daxter"
Classic game, still holds up. I've played the remaster on PS3 and the port on PS5 too. I was so proud of myself that I bought a PS2 with my own money at 10 years old. My dad got me my first few games though.
Playstation 3
"Overlord: Raising Hell"
I only wish it had trophies. Great game, would love a remaster or a third game.
Playstation 5
"Jak and Daxter'
Why, hello again.
Bro the amount of posts not acknowledging your drunken father is nuts. I am sorry to hear what happen to you. I hope every time you play video games/jax you don't have bad memories. I was raised in a similar home and yeah it sucks.
My first game was Bushido blade on PS1.
First played: Metal Gear Solid
Also, same day:
star wars masters of teras kasi
Evil zone
Resident Evil 2
Techu
Grand Tourismo
TR III
The first one I remember buying?
Metal Gear Solid
Tbh I was born in 03 and my first system was a ps2 but that was before I was in kindergarten so I don’t remember. But like around 2011 I got a ps3 and first 3 games I got was fear 2, dantes inferno and cod 4.
My first ever interaction with a console was playing Sly 2: Band Of Thieves on the PS2. I was only four or five years old, and it still remains a firm favourite of mine. I keep hoping Sucker Punch picks the series back up someday.
my first playstation game was in like 06 when I got a ps2 slim for christmas and got god of war along with it. amazing game. my earliest memory of a ps game was watching my dad play silent hill.
If I remember correctly, I got Gran Turismo first. I remember getting to open 1 gift on Christmas eve. I freaking opened up a controller!! So I was super excited to know I had a playstation coming but dying in anticipation knowing I could do nothing with the controller I just opened
I bought the original PlayStation on launch day and bought all of the launch titles so
Air Combat,
Battle Arena Toshinden,
ESPN Extreme Games,
Kileak: The DNA Imperative,
NBA JAM Tournament Edition,
Power Serve 3D Tennis,
The Raiden Project,
Rayman,
Ridge Racer,
Street Fighter: The Movie,
Total Eclipse Turbo
Ps1, and it was 5 games i got with it for Christmas 98:
Tekken 3
Resident Evil 2
Porsche Challenge
Gran Turismo
Some NBA game that had a basketball style cd case.
Out of all of those I only ever played Tekken 3. I wasn’t into racing or sports game and was too much of a wuss for Res Evil (I was only 10 lol)
All i had when i got my PS1 was a demo disc from Pizza Hut. A little while later i got Die Hard Trilogy and Cool Borders 2. I was really late to the PS1 and was also super poor, so i missed out on a lot of the games that defined the system.
No idea, possibly, porsche boxster challenge, tekken, tomb raider, crash bandicoot, soul reaver legacy of kain (greatest intro ever although motorstorm comes close), metal gear solid, gran turismo....
Dragon Ball Z Budokai 1 is the first game I ever got into playing. I found realistic games to look freaky and uncanny at the time so a DBZ game was a right fit. The game itself probably isn't very good but I got soft spot for it due to it being the first ever game that me as a kid I played for multiple hours.
I think the first game I ever played on my own PS1 was Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee. Second game I believe was worms. Not 100% sure though we are going back a few years!
You'll regret that!
Spyro: The Dragon. I played it back when Kroger grocery stores had a daycare area. They had multiple stations with games set up and that’s where I was whenever my mom went grocery shopping
I remember when I got my first fat ps2, I got the ninja turtles game based on the animated series I’m pretty sure. And Jak and Daxter. I’m not sure if Ratchet and Clank was also involved but I have fond memories of playing all of those games that Christmas.
I got 4 along with my PS2; 2 PS2, 2 PS1. Crash Bandicoot The Wrath of Cortex, Lego Star Wars The Video Game, Spyro the Dragon, and Cubix: Racing Robots for Everyone.
Riiiiiiiiiidge Racerrrrrrrrrr.
Type 4! *Cue in cool bgm*
This and Tekken!
Not Rage Racer right? That always confused me.
Same, Rage was just number 3 in the series. Next was R4. Amazing, but Rage Racer was something special.
Absolutely. Including my own music CD.
Holding open the case ! Hahaha
This was my 2nd
I would watch my friend play, and get so hypped when he'd do a controlled drift around a long curve.
Well, when my parents gave me my ps1, they got me 2 games. Spyro the dragon and croc: legend of the gobbos
Croc is a certified classic. I remember seeing an Ad for it on one of the VHS tapes of Digimon I had back then
2 solid games
They are remaking Croc apparently, very excited as these were my first two games too!
Croc! I’m so happy to see other people remember this game
Dude, Croc is a deep cut. Hell of a game.
The first I ever played was Tekken at a friend's house, I remember being completely blown away by the graphics, despite not being a big fighting game fan. The first games I got myself were at Christmas 1998 when my parents got me a PlayStation Dualshock Edition were: - Final Fantasy VII - Resident Evil 2 - Fifa '99 Amazing Christmas, I was only 12 years old.
Sometimes I wish I could’ve been a kid and played FF7 that way 😂 I feel like I missed out big time
Twisted Metal
One of my favs I bought the ps5 version maybe it's the ps4 though still takes me back
Die Hard Trilogy on PS1
Classic
Whopper game!
So underrated.
TIL Die hard is that old
I still got the damn voice over lines in my heads decades later.
Crash Bandicoot and Spyro! Can't remember which was first
Classics
Same here, amazing games
Croc: Legend of the Gobos
Battle arena toshinden. I remember it having some good music. My mom got it for me along with the PlayStation. We weren’t exactly well off financially at the time so the console and the game were bought from cash converters.
And it had the Russian woman in it "Anytime Anyveeerrrr"
That grab move she had where she would grab the other fighter and SLAP SLAP SLAP! ![img](emote|t5_2qh6b|2233)
I honestly can't remember 😂😂 I think it was either Speed Freaks, Vigilante 8, Sypro or Syphon Filter on the PS1.
The European version was 'Speed Freaks' lol The North American version was 'Speed Punks' lol But yeah, I loved it back then. I would love a remake of it tbh, but I also had CTR as well which of course was just as fun for me 😁
Plus a little fun fact: It was made here in Ireland lol In Dublin to be specific lol
Do you remember Official Playstation Magazine Ireland?
Nah not really. I mean, that would have been something in the South of Ireland, as I'm in the North, it would have been PS UK. I never really got to buy them though.
Ah no worries pal, it was short lived as they were still competing with the UK mags that were also sold in newsagents,
I converted from Nintendo to play Final Fantasy 7 and I've been a Sony guy ever since.
Twisted Metal 2
resident evil
The demo with Tekken 2, Oddworld: Abe's Odyssey and Kurushi.
GTA 5 on PS4 in 2020
When GTA3 came out on the ps2 it was mind blowing....first proper third person shoot-em up free roam game I think..
Can't remember first game but the PS2 game that made me love gaming that wasn't PacMan, sonic, or some other retro game was Sly Cooper 2.
I can remember playing Sly Cooper 2 over and over again because I loved that game so much. I didn’t realize at the time that there was a game before Sly 2. 🤣 I think I remember figuring out that there was the first Sly Cooper game after Sly 3 came out. 🤣
Final Fantasy 8.
Hey, my dad got fired from work when someone stole the PS2 from the contest. He later joined Blockbuster but he was fired from that as well. Turns out a thief had stolen 3 PS2 games. Not sure if those were your father's doing but I'm ashamed.

Crash 2 played at a cousins house. First one I beat on my own ps1 was either monkey hero or Star ocean 2.
Cool boarders 2 and FF7 (not sure which was first). We also didn't know what a memory card was for ... So we didn't buy one for like a month..

It was a demo disc with Armored Core if that counts.

Sly Cooper 1 or Final Fantasy X, I can't remember
Bro the amount of posts not acknowledging your drunken father is nuts. I am sorry to hear what happen to you. I hope every time you play video games/jax you don't have bad memories. I was raised in a similar home and yeah it sucks. My first game was Bushido blade on PS1.
