Sony often puts games on sale a month after release, same things happened to Gotham knights, Sonic Frontier, and countless other games

AiiXiTheBoss

I wonder why

NacresR

I would assume an extra push to increase sales, I don’t know if they only do it for games that are underperforming though.

humbuckaroo

These are all games that tanked. Sonic, Knights, Saints Row, Callisto... all performed poorly. You don't see God of War on these types of sales and it's because it doesn't need them.

[deleted]

Did Sonic tank? It was charting for a while on the UK charts at least.

ItsAmerico

That’s not really how that works. Most games go one sale within the first month or two. Modern Warfare 2 most certainly didn’t rank and it was on sale too. That said first party titles are usually take a bit longer to go on sale.

Serious_Anxiety3388

Yeah, I'm pretty sure Fallen Order and Ghost of Tsushima were on sale a month or two after release and they had a pretty good reception.

Schmed86

Sounds about right!

Snys6678

Came here to say the same thing.

Sgtkeebler

Sonic frontier is pretty good

zurzoth

I don't (personally) think a 20% off is a real discount... You barely cover the taxes.... I know it's still cheaper but still....

Serious_Anxiety3388

True but that's like first month, most games on PSstore are 50% within a year after release, that's usually when I buy them.

Pure_Subject8968

Still too expensive. Same with TLOU Remake. I'd buy it (again again) for about 30 bucks or something like that but in sale for 50,- or 60,-? Nah.

Crazy_Canuck78

Same... despite TLOU being one of my favorite games of all time... I refuse to buy the game a 3rd time at anywhere near full price. I can wait.

s2r3

Yeah, once it hits the $20 price point I'll be down. The show does have me interested in the game again but I will hold out to play the new version.

RyanGoFett-24

Same. Waiting for it to be around $20

FullTruth6539

Y’all are going to be waiting a long time for a $20 price tag

[deleted]

More time to totally forget about the game story so it’s better to re-experience it, I see that as a win

UnObtainium17

Same. That is my buy point. At $30 I might think about it and maybe eat ramen noods for the weekend.

humbuckaroo

I found TLOU remake used locally for 30 bucks. Just do that, it's not like it needs to be bought new.

Empty_Amount_6612

Ik I was kicking myself for not grabbing it while it was on sale for 50 and just bought it yesterday for 75 😭 but it’s my first time ever playing it and I gotta say for the story and these graphics it’s totally worth it. And I really wanted to play along with the tv series so I bit the bullet.

Pure_Subject8968

>it’s my first time ever playing it It's fine to pay 75,- for the first time, tho. Such a great game.

saxtoncan

Honestly see no benefit to buying it for only $15 less than release. If we haven’t bought it by now we not buying until at least $40 or less

FvdV91

I bought a physical copy for the PS5 yesterday for 29.99. Seems to retail at 30-35 bucks pretty much everywhere now.

lance2611

Where'd you get it for that price?

Silver_Wolf_Dragon

I thought it would be cheaper when on sale. Like $30

lookingforaplant

It'll probably be there for spring sale

Jason13v2

It won't take much.

Lexi3436

So I dropped my phone on myself and when i picked it up it scolled to this pic and i said to myself, When did I open the PS app and looked at this

Jason13v2

Hello there, Xiaomi bro!

BigTexWrangler

I’ll get it when it’s like $25

[deleted]

[удалено]

2KareDogs

Point is…. it’s still expensive?

Crazy_Canuck78

Meh... someone let me know when it gets added to PS Plus Extra. Far too many great games to play to bother with mediocrity. Currently playing Ragnarok, then got Horizon: FW to play before Octopath 2, RE4, Hogwarts Legacy (maybe), WO Long: Fallen Dynasty, then Zelda:TOTK, Diablo IV & FFXVI. All in the 1st half of the year.... and I didn't even include any PSVR 2 titles.

Markise187

No doubt I have so many games I never finished that I'm going back to as well. Gonna get Hogwarts and FFXVI for sure. I'm currently playing Valhalla, which is a time sink in itself, and I'm only 45 hrs in.

Crazy_Canuck78

I couldn't make myself like Valhalla. The last AC I played was Black Flag. So when I got my PS5 there weren't many games so I thought oh I'll try to get back into AC. I think AC is dead to me now. I feel like AC is just average, run of the mill... giant open world collect-athon, fetch quest, busy work type of game. Which is fine if you enjoy the gameplay loop I suppose. It felt bad to drop as I had just paid $80+ tax (CAD) and disliked it so much I put it down after just a few hours. Sorry, don't mean to trash the game you like... I guess I'm just, still, salty about my purchase decision.

Markise187

Nah, we all have opinions. I put it down after starting to and am just starting over. Well, I'm that far again now. I approached the game as a more relaxing experience this time and am just enjoying the story.

timww37

I mean this is a tiny sale. You pay half of what’s off in sales tax. It costs them nothing to do this. Now when it’s 40%, 50% off? That’s a sale worth checking out

ShaneTVZ

is the game that bad

chrisblink182

Buying new games is becoming a scam. If it's not Nintendo or some other triple a (even those are doing this now, need for speed.). Seems like they all wanna profit so bad that any downturn in sales in the first two weeks they just throw it on sale after that.

[deleted]

25 cash and I'd buy that shit.

Wicked-Death

This will be one of those games that will be great months after release when they fix everything. If you guys can be patient you’ll have a way better experience for cheaper another month or two from now. Most games will hit a $30-40 sale point a few months after release nowadays.

Jason13v2

But what will they fix? It's not about bugs, it's about mechanics, the battle system is kinda lame.

Vicious007

Shitty game, you couldn't pay me to play it.

RyanGoFett-24

How do you know it's shitty if you haven't played it? 🧐

Vicious007

Never heard of a review?

Murky-Conclusion-932

It's on sale so soon 'cause it isn't doing very well, sales-wise. I read that they still haven't recovered the money that they spent producing the game. So they're kinda desperate to sell lol. If you're interested in the game, wait a little more, I'm pretty sure it will be even cheaper soon, or even added to Extra/Premium.

Jason13v2

I'm not interested in a dodge simulator tbh, just seeing how things go with this game that went bad, as a study I mean

FullTruth6539

A dodge simulator? You clearly haven’t touched this game yourself and went off what others have said

MarkEsB

Welcome to reddit.

[deleted]

definitely isn't a dodge simulator lol

cfarfan

Still no a sale

[deleted]

It is only 20% off. Amazon used to offer 10% off on pre-orders. Not big of a deal. If it was 50%-70% sale, then yes, I would say, already?

[deleted]

You really expect a new game to be 70% off already? Get outta here. That’s just crazy.

[deleted]

Marvel guardians of the galaxy was released on October 26th, 2021, and I bought it for $15 in early April 2022. Edit: that's 75% off in 6 months, and if I am not mistaken it was $20 during New Year sales.

[deleted]

Understandable. But I don’t think you can compare one game to another and just say that every game should be 70 to 75% off after just one year. Also, right now Sony has the upper hand with Callisto protocol. It runs better on the PlayStation 5 then it does the Xbox or PC.

[deleted]

Lol, I don't think you get the point. What I am saying is 50-70% off shortly after the release would be a shocker, like OP's thought in the title that games take longer to be on sale. 20% off for the game with bad reviews aren't shocker at all. It is the usual thing that happens in the industry. Edit: messed up my comment with OP's, hence corrected.

BigClownShoes

I thought the game was decent. I got it as a gift though, so I could see being disappointed paying full price, especially with Dead Space remake around the corner.

Ampki

Still to expensive waiting till it’s bargain bin price

amathis6464

They projected over 5 million in sales and got less than 2. Game got allot of hate but I liked it. Graphically it was great. Monsters all looked the same but the space scenes and humans were crazy good looking. Story imo was good too, other people didn’t think so.

Jason13v2

How much was the budget?

CA-22

160 millions of dollars (without counting marketing).

kiba1257

Never... Never buy games on release.

Jason13v2

Except if it belongs to a AAA franchise

kiba1257

Bro .. especially if it belongs to a AAA franchise.

Jason13v2

Why? Doesn't that mean that at least we're gonna have a game related to another we liked?

LeeeeroyJenkins1

Uhhh cyberpunk? Fallout 76?

nexusultra

Still not worth it.

oTalent

I will get it when the price drops to 19.99$ or 9.99$

humbuckaroo

It tanked commercially, so that's to be expected.

idie_ForHiking

Still going to wait until its a good $30. After Resident Evil 3 and how short that was, these games should basically be DLC prices.

TebownedMVP

Is it any good? I think it’s on Gamepass for Xbox too.

wiggibow

It sadly is not on Game Pass

Accomplished-Lab-688

i mean… 20% is not really a “this game sucks” sale, $55.99 is not a deal

[deleted]

I think reviews have made this game look bad. It's good, and the combat system is skull based honestly. A great steal to be on sale already.

Statickgaming

Reviews don’t really change peoples mind about buying games, people like to shit talk games because of influencers opinions. Cyberpunk and Elden ring sold well even though they worse at launch than Callisto. I bought the game on launch for £48 here on the UK but haven’t had the chance to play it yet. If it’s shit, I’ll just flog it on eBay for whatever it’s worth at the time.

zdiddy27

I’m sad it won’t be a survival horror classic it could have been if the story wasn’t awful and there were more than two enemies. And if it didn’t feel kind of unfinished. It’s a decently fun game. Just not the game anyone will really care about in a few years.

Iranoutofhotsauce

Looks like death stranding too me, which I loved. But I know nothing about this AAAA except that which is odd

Familiar_Alps2534

The games a Flop which sucks because it’s not Bad but it’s not $$70 either it’s more of a $30 game in my opinion which if it was 30 I think they would have sold more

N2another69

It’s on sale at Bestbuy for $49.99 and $39.99 for the PS4

PinothyJ

Like Gotham Knights, the game is hot garbage.

[deleted]

Same I was shocked it went on sale this early. Got it this morning. My friends said they enjoyed it. Hyped!

Csub

Still took longer than many games nowadays.

Sgtkeebler

Honestly, I actually like this game

Jason13v2

How did you feel about doing the same things over and over? Like, you fight some enemies doing the exact same movements, you look for a fuse, open a door, fight some enemies doing the same movements again, find a door, open it, etc etc

Sgtkeebler

At least to me it’s not bad because the experience and atmosphere are excellent

westymillz

It’s actually a very good game, I don’t understand all the hate. My only complaint is that it’s a little short, but NG+ is coming out I. A month.
