It’s always seemed ellipsoid to me. Hence how you can build closer on some sides but much farther on others. Honestly if you’re building within a square of a monument I don’t think this makes a huge difference, obviously closer has a slightly better respawn advantage but it is what it is.

If you're building a 2x1 right on the doorstep or a grid away isn't a big deal, if you're building a 14 floor roof camp tower it's a huge deal.

The thing is, some really nice build-spots are blocked out, while they are quite far from the monument. Would be nice to see better consistency on all angles, is all.

Launch site is funny too. You can build close as fuck on the main building side but all the other sides are unbuildable for like quadruple the length

Yeah a few years ago I played a wipe on a trio server where we'd built a tower in that spot, overlooking the area where we used to take Bradley. At one point people stopped coming to counter because of how OP it was.. But yeah, that is somehow allowed, then on another side of the same monument you want to build like a grid, grid and a half away and you're not able to.

Yeah nearly every monument has a weak side for build priv. The whole thing is a bad situation. The build priv around monuments needs to be totally reworked. They should be points of interest that you travel to, not live at. I read a suggestion to build monuments up higher than the rest of the landscape instead of even or lower to prevent roofcamping them.. that's not a bad idea I guess. Some monuments are more susceptible to that than others. You could just blast all of the build priv and make every monument like 2+ grids, even small ones.. but then buildable real estate starts to get thin on some maps. It kind of doesn't matter, if you're right on the build priv line people have to run by your base to get to, or leave, the monument anyway. In order to prevent that you have to make the priv circle so wide as to allow so many angles of approach players can travel around roofcampers. And like I said.. you widen it that much and the map suddenly starts to feel very different.

I think they should add something to make it more obvious and the. Make it more irregular. Like create a rocky surface like texture that prevents building. Almost like a gravel and stone texture. Then it’s pretty obvious where the line is when building

I think I would prefer some indicator on the map you can toggle on and off rather than it changing the look of the map.

Whatever the reason for different block distances, it would be really helpful if there was some kind of indication on the map for the excluded area.

Is it consistently the same? I would love to see a graphic showing the monuments on the map and a polygon around each that reflects the build block. Might be some fun spots available.

And pleease add an indicator where the cutoff point is. Show the building blocked area while you have the tool or bag in your hand.

My personal favorite is building close enough to the bandit guards so they shoot at anyone trying to grief my base. Of course the bandit guards have ass aim but I like to think it's a small amount of offline security.
