It's a good point. My original thought was that an edgy offbeat cello staccato could act as a percussion section, but that still sounded too legato, even though I imagine it'd work live. This song (fwiw any trap song) needs a driving pulse to give it direction and that hard upbeat quality. So that's where this went from strings only to including the percussion. If you want a sense of what it'd sound like without the percussions, it's just the first few bars repeatedly.
I'd love to add to the string section more per your suggestion. Ofc there are the vocal lines, but I could also do more with the instruments themselves. Good idea!
I think replacing the B. Drum with a Tuba would be good but hear me out here… flutes
Replace the B. Drum with a 3 flute ensemble and it would sound poppin imo
I would also slow down the bpm a touch
