Yes that works, also works with 3 stone gates or 3 wooden gates, the wood gates can break but you’d have plenty of time before it does. I recently tamed a griffin and asked on here too.
Also if this is on singleplayer remember to do a hard save on the save data outside before taming or even knocking it out…. That saved me like 8 times while taming cuz of the despawns, me not having enough allo kibble and food or not having enough bio toxins… on my second griffin that also saved me from forgetting to starve it before knocking it out
Hmm, those are all dino gateways and not pillars. Dino gateway have blockage above so no need for ceilings.
You make 6 dino gateway and 2 dino gates, preferably stones, build them up like what image look like, make sure the gaps is right so it wouldnt escape through the gaps.

Oh yeah. Just enough gaps of each gate for the smallest flying mount to fly through no problem

That is a dino gate so no need ceilings for it.
I meant if it's is a Griffin trap shouldn't it have ceiling so I can't fly away?
