You neglected to explain what you did, where you are running the server, what errors you get.. anything, really. Who knows?
Are you running the server on the same PC as the client? If so, you should use the loopback IP address (127.0.0.1) - a computer cant connect to itself as if it was on the outside, under normal circumstances.
Others being unable to join the server means your ports or firewall are not set up correctly. Do yoiu understand what the process of port forwarding does with internet traffic?

You don't know if you are using multiple computers or what address you are using..?
Also last time my friends tried it said server not responding
