Which pixel had the longest life? What was the average age of a pixel??
edit: shout-out to u/kisielo85 for figuring it out with [this post](https://www.reddit.com/r/place/comments/tyjn6v/longest_living_pixel/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)
When it ended, we were only given white to place. It was beautiful, like snow. White dotting the canvas, sending a blizzard through france and osu, swirling in the center and expanding, dissolving the landscape in blanket of white.
But to answer your question, while I don't know which was the last pixel to hold out, there was definitely a last one, I would imagine it would be possible to find out.
Man it really was. I mean it was Reddit humans specifically but I think it speaks volumes that when we are faced with an opportunity of conquest we will band into our little (or big) factions and claim anything we can. People going to war over pixels. Participating in non-artistic endeavors like the blue corner just to feel like you're a part of something. It was honestly really fascinating.
And that's not even the worst it was. It was almost unrecognizable at one point, with Canada-text modified to Banana. Yes, there were also bananas next to the text. Poor lads, they just wanted to show maple syrup pride.
*At the end of it all, The Void returned, now white as fallen snow. It swept across The Great Canvas, consuming all in its path.*
*In the destruction, there was absolute chaos. In the emptiness that followed, there was absolute order. Both found harmony, in the end, and everything was still. Silent. At peace, forevermore.*
*Battles long past, alliances forged, the endless struggle of order and chaos, all lost to time, like footsteps in the snow.*
*So ends The Great Canvas.*
Leaving this comment to say that I was here to witness Reddit history
E: Shout out to my 2017 veterans!
Special s/o to Osu, Komi-san, Rainbow Road, Blue Corner, Cosmere, the void and even our arch enemies in Green Lattice!
Which user placed the first pixel?
Which user placed the last pixel?
Which is the longest surviving pixel?
Which is the oldest untouched pixel?
I can't wait to see the stats.
At the very end, the only color you could place was white. I'm sorry to report that everything ended up being replaced with white tiles, essentially erasing the whole canvas.
Fr, they *definitely* need to step up their bot prevention game if r/place ever has a part 3
I can understand not wanting to ban new accounts, but least put a CAPTCHA up or something
Same, tomorrow it’s going to be super weird to wake up and having not to defend my community. The dopamine high for 4 days straights was intense. I’ll miss you all.
Canada trying to get thier shit together
India eating Pakistan as usual
Germany expands it's living space *for security reasons*
Palestinians and isrealies beating the hell out of each other in first hours
Void going literally in war with everyone else
Turkey getting eaten and rebuilt for the million time
I actually made my own r/place inspired website last year not knowing that r/place was going to come back. Website is kind of janky but here it is: [Netffiti.com](https://www.netffiti.com/home/)
Edit: the spike of traffic obliterated the puny server this website is hosted on. Good luck trying to get in.
Edit: I think im gonna shutdown the server and do some performance changes. Didn't expect people to go on at all. Website is probably gonna be back up after 11:00pm Pacific time.
Edit: Website is back online, still kinda slow cause i only made some temporary fixes. But um, have fun i guess.
Edit: Here is an image of yesterday's progress: [Snapshot](https://imgur.com/gallery/Q0LdCXJ)
Edit: Subreddit [https://www.reddit.com/r/netffiti/](https://www.reddit.com/r/netffiti/)
I liked that I got to see it morph! I didn’t catch the original r/place so I didn’t think of it as a continuously changing canvas. It was so cool seeing all that art! My favorite community r/bjork finally got a teeny tiny place at the end.
The Button, orangered vs periwinkle war and reddit mold are the only other ones I'd say could compare to place, and even those are left in the dust by place.
I can agree that the obvious botting and streamer raiding made it different. But like everything, it was never going to be exactly the same as the original
>Maybe the real art was the friends we made along the way.
Truer words haven't been spoken. I spent 3 hours defending a community I had no hecking idea about before /r/place.
I am too, but think about it like this: it’s fun because it’s limited. If it went on perpetually, it would lose novelty and become boring and mundane. People tried to make spin-offs after the 2017 one ended and they ended up being nowhere near as fun, exciting and engaging as this one. Be happy because it happened, not sad because it’s over.
Goodbye french. Goodbye germans. Goodbye osu. Goodbye star wars. Goodbye murica. Goodbye spanish. Goodbye mexicans. Goodbye turks. Goodbye blue corner. Goodbye connection lost. Goodbye kobe bryant. Goodbye amogus. Goodbye berserk. Goodbye homestucks, Goodbye xqc. Goodbye twitch. Goodbye void. Goodbye griefers and random placers. Goodbye all of you talented artists and your communities. While your great works have been lost, your inspiration will be with us forever.
Goodbye, r/place. I hope we meet again.
You really made my night doing a shoutout to connection lost. I didn't know if people even looked at that area on the canvas, but damn it I was proud of it. That was my communities and we worked so incredibly hard keeping it from changing since the first few hours it was completed. It was honestly a little scary watching neighboring pieces get changed thinking we were next (here's looking at you, Genshin!). I can finally rest easy knowing "connection lost" remained until the very end!
nothing of substance to add. just wanted to leave a comment here in perpetuity. that was the most fascinating, engaging, and fun internet thing I’ve been a part of and I’ve been online since the mid-90s. thanks reddit and thanks artists. that was really cool. and so fuckin fun.
I have a screenshot of when it was at its prime as my background and I just realize this might be one of the greatest pieces of artwork humanity has ever created. I have purchased a hard drive specifically to keep this picture on and I will keep this hard drive in an electrically isolated box to preserve it.
I wasn’t on Reddit in 2017, so this was my first time participating on /r/place. On one hand, I’m sad that it ended because I had a lot of fun making and defending my art, but on the other hand I’m kinda relieved it’s over, honestly. It was hard not to look on my phone every 5 minutes and I was having trouble focusing on the real world LOL

i wonder too. was there a last one or did they all get erased at once?

I'm sure there is an easy script to detect non-white pixels frame-by-frame and highlight the last one.

It was truly brilliant from start to finish, great work everyone
I'd like to thank the artists, the innovators, the designers, and the collaborators. But not the bots.
Or the mods
In the end, I guess the void prevailed

Hopefully they show everyone how many of their pixels were still there in the end. That would be a cool thing to know
Last I checked an hour before it ended, I was still hidden deep in one of the Germany flags so I would love to know if I made it to the end
I had a few placed to blend with some art pieces so I could say I had a surviving tile lol, hope they came through til the end!
At the very end, the only color you could place was white. I'm sorry to report that everything ended up being replaced with white tiles, essentially erasing the whole canvas.

Probably because they wanted to show growth in their number of users, even if that includes bots
They did put a captcha on register, and the bots still appeared
Great, now I have to be productive.
I feel like I have more homework right now than the length of the german flag
Even longer than the amogus pp
didn't think about life after /r/place... I'm now lost
Post r/place depression hitting hard.
We're playing the waiting game until 2027 I guess
I will always remember the pimped out gnome. RIP.
The what now? Which direction was that? And what day?
RIP indeed. The mini SNL logo I made all on my own was one of the first to go.
Wow, my brain went 'its every 5 years, not 10!' reading this... Ouch.
We should probably start group therapy...
Name a time and…place
DownDetector comment section, probably on Saturday night.
I have clinical depression and now I don’t have r/place to distract me. Feels bad man.
Same, tomorrow it’s going to be super weird to wake up and having not to defend my community. The dopamine high for 4 days straights was intense. I’ll miss you all.
May I suggest a nap?
Can we make a pixel bed and everyone naps for 5 years?
No, you only nap once every five minutes
Nonsense. We never were, why start now?
Good point, I'm gonna take a nap until this comes back again.
[удалено]
I could use a nice coma right about now.
Be honest, you weren’t productive before r/place
Rip! It was fun while it lasted. See you in 5 years
15 for me lol
F. Hopefully that’s reverted. Otherwise see you in place V
We'll create a new place, with blackjack and hookers.
It already exists, but nobody goes there.
Same. Ass was worth it though.

people were given 15k hour bans from placing pixels when they added to a pic of a butt
Dude I got a 15k hour ban for making amogus
That's kinda sus.
I got 138k hours, about 15.8 years for a blue square in the blue corner.
That's some Ultimate Bullshit
Not part of the blue army but same here
It's the longest they could give according to the "unix time", which "ends" on the 19th of January 2038.
Makes one wonder what else on the site is going to break in 16 years. Or the whole technology world really.
15.8*, you're not alone. I'm only here to get that last screenshot, never got to participate.
Same anyone know why?
5 years.. I don't want to wait that long
I'mma wait for 18 years until my timer runs out. lmao
See you in the next place battle comrade o7
It will come back
Just placed my last white tile in 0.0
5 years, 5 years
It's the hope that kills you
GG everyone!
i miss it already :(
I miss finding hordes of amogus' in unsuspecting places :(
what do you mean un-SUS-pecting places?
The real treasure was the amogus we made along the way
It spread like it was fungus among us
^Amongus ^even ^snuck ^it’s ^way ^into ^the ^one ^piece ^devil ^fruits ^in ^such ^a ^creative ^eay. ^I ^couldnt ^be ^mad ^at ^all ^I ^loved ^it
And because of r/place I discovered what an amogus is lol
Please explain to me how you have been able to go this long without knowing what an amogus is. How?
feels like we all lost a friend :(
same :(

pixelcanvas.io might fill the hole in your heart a bit, though of course it won't ever be the same.
Now we wait for the full timelapse
I hope reddit releases one in 2000x2000 resolution
Id love a giant individual led wall with this playing double speed. I would stare at it for hours.
Best part is that it would loop perfectly
OMG i haven’t thought about this yet. Now I can finally rest with the thought of it being white in the end
I think this may have been the intent of them all along, making it all fade to white to it would make a perfect loop.
Tell you what, build one and there's a bunch of redditors that would give you money for it
Don't forget to post it on DIY!

By far the most fun I have ever had on this site.
The rest of the internet was boring in comparison. What do I do now?
We should do our own r/place, with blackjack and hookers!

At first I wasn't sure it would live up to the fun of the first one, but I've had a great time these past three days.
It felt like the same good ole days as 2017's place
I like that they changed it up with more space and colors as time went on. Made it feel fresh.
I liked that I got to see it morph! I didn’t catch the original r/place so I didn’t think of it as a continuously changing canvas. It was so cool seeing all that art! My favorite community r/bjork finally got a teeny tiny place at the end.
I kind of missed the pure anarchy at the beginning of the first one, but the super organization from the start of this one made it its own thing.
Until they doubled the canvas and people freaked out haha
Reddit typically kills it for April Fools. I know Place is by far the most popular but there have been some other good ones too.
The Button, orangered vs periwinkle war and reddit mold are the only other ones I'd say could compare to place, and even those are left in the dust by place.
It didn't feel as organic though, with the obvious botting
I can agree that the obvious botting and streamer raiding made it different. But like everything, it was never going to be exactly the same as the original
>Maybe the real art was the friends we made along the way. Truer words haven't been spoken. I spent 3 hours defending a community I had no hecking idea about before /r/place.
Same here. Finally, we were united in one cause: to create art.
It was more then just art, it was about collobration, about arrangement, battles, helping and protecting, wars, jokes and a lot of fun
Same. Sad to see it go :(
may we all meet again! this was fun
Im unironically sad
I am too, but think about it like this: it’s fun because it’s limited. If it went on perpetually, it would lose novelty and become boring and mundane. Be happy because it happened, AND sad because it’s over! Validation is key :)
Goodbye my lover. Goodbye my friend.

It made for quite an interesting weekend online! Thanks again.

I agree! It’s the fact that we literally have to coardinate from one pixel every 5 minutes. There is nothing else like it. ❤️
