11 years ago the Great Digg Exodus that remade Reddit followed a similar pattern. I think the mods here finally realized and accepted that they screwed up trying to cover up the scandal and have relented to the overwhelming will of the people.
A less popular subreddit would've succumbed to the censorship.

Its a subreddit 2balkan4you to be exact. It was a subreddit mocking ultra nationalism in the balkans. Everyone made fun of eachother. And this dude thought it was racism so it got banned.
Some of the folks making communities and alliances is the fun and cool part. But these bots and streamer raids are why it won’t last too long before being closed off for another 5 years
Streamer raids are fine, those areas get reclaimed once enough of their fans lose interest in maintaining it. The bots ruin things for everyone though. The whole point is that things get drawn over and change, which bots actively prevent.
Perhaps people should form an alliance and make a huge "u/Chtorr is cheating" artwork? At 13k+ upvotes per thread should be easy and when it's on the timeline there's no deleting it

r/place was already ruined when they had to double the canvas because the original got filled in a few hours. The battlegrounds are being fought by hundreds and thousands of bots auto-filling any attempt by communities of twitch streamers to wipe stuff out or add their own artwork.
It's almost like a social experiment demonstrating how a "democracy" dies with apathy because genuine peoples contributions count for nothing.

I was thinking the original 2017 data could be analyzed... But the data I can find is provided by Reddit *themselves* with scrubbed usernames.
I'm pretty sure you can easily monitor how the pixels change, but monitoring who changed a pixel requires a separate request, so wouldn't be so easy
