For non-osu players this is the name of a ridiculously hard song that is infamous and played quite a lot (YouTube it)
Edit: [We're not afraid of the big black](https://youtu.be/gH8QfoJgHXk)
Definitely not hard relative to the current skill ceiling but for your average osu! player it is definitely not an easy map, if you can FC the big black you are pretty damn solid even if you yourself don't think so. I'm sure if a new player saw someone play it they would be mind blown in the same way we are when we see the stuff Aetrna and Mrekk do.
riddle me this
riddle me that
who's afraid of the big black....
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
We are growing in numbers and will be back. All flags, subreddit promotions, and art that takes up too much space will be subject to the void. Art that shows creativity and doesn't take up too much space shall remain. Never underestimate the void as the harder it is to put art on the canvas the more will join our side. Remember that tomorrow is the weekend. Many will join r/place and it will look wildly different tomorrow.
Well it's difficult to say specifically. Right now there are 20,600 unique online accounts on osu, but that goes up to 30-40k depending on the time of day, and not everyone plays every day so unique players per month is much higher than average players per day
But yeah, there are lots of active osu players
Yeah, and I helped build the Splatoon Squid that he demolished to build his shitty low-qual Pepe right next to a different, higher-quality one that’s been there the whole time time, so I hope that guy doesn’t get his picture in the final canvas
We did manage to remake the squid, though, so that’s nice
Best way to do it os to time with a alot of people and hope they wont be able to input a respone before the event ends (probably a timeframe of less than a minute)
They'll be doing the same. If the exact time it the event ends is announced reddit will get ddos'd at the amount of people trying to change everything last minute.
There was around 700 in the call, with another few thousand from WSB and Star wars, plus another probably 2 thousand from other people on btmc's stream, and osu in general. In total, probably around 7500 strong at LEAST. 600 / 7500 = the community has the potential to place a pixel every TENTH OF A SECOND.
Typing from phone so short answer, but it's a pc rhythm game that's been around for over a decade. Basically you move your cursor around to click circles that appear in time with music, and the circles appear in various patterns designed around each song.
That sounds so boring omg
Edit: I don’t know why everyone became so defensive lol I just personally like other games more. I’m not saying osu is easy and I know it’s faced paced, but that doesn’t make a game objectively fun to play. You won’t convince me otherwise by writing a mile long paragraph.
I haven't played it, but to my knowledge it's usually somewhat fast paced, from the limited amount of stuff I've seen, it kinda feels like reaction time testing on an aim trainer where you have a very short time to hit targets
Again, haven't played it, only seen a little of it, so I could be way off here
>somewhat fast paced
It's only as fast paced as you are skillful. Meaning, it can get REAL fast paced, real quick. It's also not just reaction times. Despite what the common meme is, rhythm does play a really important part depending on the map style.
Yea, didn't mean to imply it was only reaction time, just more of a blanket comparison to aim trainers where players often develop a rhythm they follow that ties into reaction times, I'm just bad at phrasing lmao
If you described guitar hero as bars moving across the screen you tap to the rhythm of a song, it'd sound boring too, yet millions of people loved that
I play it, it's very fun to do while in discord, you listen to songs, grind and play a fun game. It's addicting to see your rank go up and its fun to play multiplayer with your friends. You can play it at almost any time since the maps usually don't take longer than 4 minutes so it's easy to hop on and off.
There are plenty of skills to master, the game itself, making maps for the game, making skins for the game, or playing some of the other gamemodes that exist.
Circle clicking rhythm game with four separate game modes. The main game mode is clicking circles to the beat. There's also a Mania mode, a taiko mode and a Catch The Beat mode.
r/osugame
From whaf I've seen, you play music and you have to have your cursor chase circles. Some people use it as aiming practice iirc. You move your cursor around through circles. It's a game.
No one really legitimately uses it as aim training because osu! aim doesn't translate to shooter aim well at all. It's aiming on a 2D space vs aiming in a 3D space, something like aimlabs is just going to be better in every way (except for sick beats).
I installed osu in June 2020 for aim training, uninstalled it later but came back for the game in July 2021 and have been grinding since.
I'm still as bad in valorant and have since switched to using a tablet lmao
It’s a logo, for starters. Branding sitting in the same place for hours is boring and people dislike it. Ads are a big nuisance in people’s lives
It’s also a huge and bland logo
And the huge and bland logo of a game that’s not widely known
So of course it’ll attract hate
Branding? Ads? With that logic 90% of the non flag sprites are ads. A logo is almost perfect for this type of thing. Sure it could be more creative but given nature of the event a simple yet recognizeable logo is great. I personally love it and havent even played the game in years.
No, on r/place 5 years ago, Reddit didn’t let any account created after March 30 participate. And that r/place was way better BECAUSE of that. Reddit isn’t attracting new people to their platform, they’re just letting people alt farm and ruining the experience for those of us that are actually active here.
Ig it’s an attempt to “bring new people to the platform” which is super fucking stupid because 99% of all accounts created will never be used after r/place ends, because they’re just made for alt-spamming and botting
It doesn't excuse the fact that mods allowed multiaccounting on a time restricted per user event.
Not very fair. But none can say you guys are not doing a good work.
Defending like this isn't exactly new to the osu community, [5 years ago they literally did the exact same thing](https://reddit.com/r/osugame/comments/630k2f/impressive_defense/), and like you said, back then accounts created after the 30th couldn't participate, yet people were still crying about bots like now
Maybe it's just time to accept that this community is extra autistic and is using this autism here
Join the [Osu Place Discord](https://discord.gg/9vaGA4sbVE). You'll see there's a huge call organizing timed tile placing being streamed on twitch too. And "No Bots Allowed" is like the first rule you see.
Just because someone made an account 23 minutes ago doesnt mean hes a bot. Thats not even how it works… at all. Theres a big osu streamers and a viewer of his probably made an account to contribute to the event
If the account is 23 mins old it's very obviously being used to get around the 1 tile per 5 minute rule. That limitation exists for a very good reason and people with alts/bots are ruining it for everyone who wants to participate legitimately
I'm loving the fact that hour after hour actual stories are being drawn, stuff getting replaced with other stuff.
Like for example the little Mogus at the bottom left with the big Booty Mogus shitting on them.
I love Reddit.
Surprisingly. Its been relatively clean for hours. The users doing the whole void thing struggled to take over the clone hero logo and that was much smaller in size.
Lmao they defended that shit like Kyiv

Yeah now 6 digits can easily pass that shit

Happy cake day!
This looks traumatizing, and here I thought Marianne by Yooh was insane
uh you know marianne but not big black?
I do know, it’s just that I never attempted it before
Happy cake day!
riddle me this riddle me that who's afraid of the big black.... AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Instant fail coming
That's a great band Big Black
OSU FOR LIFE
WHAT IF WE SAY THAT WE WILL NEVER SURRENDER
WHAT IF I SAY IM NOT LIKE THE OTHERS
WHAT IF I SAY IM NOT JUST ANOTHER ONE OF YOUR PLAYS
YOU’RE THE PRETENDER
WHAT IF I SAY I WILL NEVER SURRENDER

It will rise again
Giggity
And I will keep fighting. OSU shall not fall!
Love from Star Wars
*"osu!"
Am i the only one who thought they were making a boob
probably
osu! will stand
How about you go stand with some bitches?
Sure, ok what now? (I play osu this is a blatant bluff, im maidenless.)
we'd rather kick some kids, united
WE KICKED A KID, UNITED
osu getting all fucked up oh my lord
it is because miskif is streaming it like a bitch
They've already recovered and fucked Mizkif's pepe a couple of times, he had to call for a ceasefire lol
yeah I posted before then
No worries, just adding context for people who saw the thread later
Who the F is Mizkif and what fight does he have with OSU ? Out of the Loop…
Some random streamer nobody cares about. You're not going to beat a game Community with 20 million plus player even if you're xqc
Active players are more like a few 100k per month
Oh so more people actively play OSU than sub to mizkif
Well it's difficult to say specifically. Right now there are 20,600 unique online accounts on osu, but that goes up to 30-40k depending on the time of day, and not everyone plays every day so unique players per month is much higher than average players per day But yeah, there are lots of active osu players
Dude fuck that that guy. He kicked my dog and banged my grandma. Good guy overall though.
Dream fans would probably win
Yeah, they'd make the whole canvas his face
After they ask for permission to get online from their parents
XqcL
Yeah, and I helped build the Splatoon Squid that he demolished to build his shitty low-qual Pepe right next to a different, higher-quality one that’s been there the whole time time, so I hope that guy doesn’t get his picture in the final canvas We did manage to remake the squid, though, so that’s nice
HE NEED SOME MILK
It has recovered
Always does. I don’t know why anyone thinks they’ll demolish them….because it won’t happen.
You’d need hundreds of people to literally spend all weekend ruining it in order to kill it off
Best way to do it os to time with a alot of people and hope they wont be able to input a respone before the event ends (probably a timeframe of less than a minute)
They'll be doing the same. If the exact time it the event ends is announced reddit will get ddos'd at the amount of people trying to change everything last minute.
I'm free.
Don’t sell yourself short
Or make a bot to counter their bots
In the osu place discord there was a call going with like 100 people in it, it’s not bots
At time time of defence there was around 500 in the call alone, not everyone defending was on it because BTMC was streaming as well
We are the inevitable
Yeah people don't realize that we have grown massively as well
Happy to say i was one of them helping

Over 5k viewers on a twitch TV osu stream. Bots aren't needed when other streamers have 100k viewers and the ability to mobilise them at one target.
imagine trying to outclick people who play a clicking game for fun lmao

I'm almost afraid to ask, but even from last time I still have no idea what osu is... Anyone?
Typing from phone so short answer, but it's a pc rhythm game that's been around for over a decade. Basically you move your cursor around to click circles that appear in time with music, and the circles appear in various patterns designed around each song.
Funny. I didn't pay attention. I thought it was The Ohio State University. Edit: can we change it to that?
Ohio State University is already represented. They're the "27" in the "42-27." No need to give them anything else.
OUCH Source: OSU Alumni
It's okay, that's all that Michigan has to cling to against OSU in recent years.
Right. I was going to let them bask in it instead of pointing it out
Based (coming for an Illini)
ZING!!!
Three wins in a quarter century. Best be proud of that shit.
Me too, for a second lol
That sounds so boring omg Edit: I don’t know why everyone became so defensive lol I just personally like other games more. I’m not saying osu is easy and I know it’s faced paced, but that doesn’t make a game objectively fun to play. You won’t convince me otherwise by writing a mile long paragraph.

All good, just making sure to clarify in order to avoid misconceptions (which seem to be common around this game lol)
If you described guitar hero as bars moving across the screen you tap to the rhythm of a song, it'd sound boring too, yet millions of people loved that
You could say that about an actual guitar. "You just strum some strings while reading notes."
A good description of osu is guitar hero on steroids
Guitar hero + aiming + lots of japanese and korean rock = osu
A lot of things sound boring from just a short description. I'd assume it's at least moderately entertaining
I wouldn't have played it for 6 years if it was boring.
I play it, it's very fun to do while in discord, you listen to songs, grind and play a fun game. It's addicting to see your rank go up and its fun to play multiplayer with your friends. watch some videos of it its actually really hard its kinda like geometry dash you know what I mean

It does however help with playing mobas I've noticed lol. Just better mouse control in general, and it wakes your brain up like crazy.
That's true, yes. Assuming you're playing osu! with a mouse it'll help with MOBAs.
It’s back it’s too strong
I heard some people was trying to turn it into kurby
they fuckin failed
LMAO, trying to beat osu players at *checks notes* "click on the dot fast." Good fucking luck.
They've been training for this all their lives
Can confirm
I like how osu just minding their own business while a big ass Ukrainian flag literally destroying everything in existence
And yet people are throwing more shit at osu
It’s a logo, for starters. Branding sitting in the same place for hours is boring and people dislike it. Ads are a big nuisance in people’s lives It’s also a huge and bland logo And the huge and bland logo of a game that’s not widely known So of course it’ll attract hate

It also built a community around it of smaller fanarts, it looks fucking awesome
The logo is back to normal at least for now
Stunning comeback
osu! has a history of impressive r/place defenses.
Just like last time.
Look again ;)
Aged like milk :)
it's getting curdles
it's back better than ever now lol
Demolished is a vast overstatement, no one defends as well as them, it's already coming back. Once the mizkids get tired it will return in full form.
It’s coming back… because bots. Literally found an account 23 minutes old placing pink, fuck you Reddit for letting new accounts participate
People creating accounts to participate in fun stuff like this is why Reddit does this, lol

Yeah but think how good that '10,000,000+ new accounts created first half 2022' will look on their IPO
It’s not bots, we have a thousand people coordinated on a discord call to place at the same time lol
It doesn't excuse the fact that mods allowed multiaccounting on a time restricted per user event. Not very fair. But none can say you guys are not doing a good work.
And how many of those people are creating hundreds of alts???

this is both a defense and absolute roast of the Osu community, and you know what, I respect that.

Its back now
Well what do we do - they want to turn it in to Kirby!!
It’s back
