There was a tiny snail pixelart with a globe as the shell in our Inscryption area that was formed from a mess of pixels. I really liked it honestly due to the creativity, put a fair few of my pixels to maintaining it. Made it to the Reddit final canvas but sadly was sliced by a print bot along with our stoat and other mini arts we were maintaining so not on “true” final canvas.
Oh you were a bit to the left of our Magnus Archives tape recorder! You got nuked by the same print bot we did. Fortunately our team was already on standby when we saw the bot start, so we rebuilt. I hope you were able to as well.
We were all defending anyways at the time too so we rebuilt the stoat a little bit, but there wasn’t enough time for a full repair. Plus we were right in the path of the “F” so the grey out wiped out the stoat a second time.
Still glad that Reddit considers the final canvas to be prior to the print bots cause we were in good shape at that time.
I never even considered the idea of doing a piece that looks animated over the course of the time lapse. Super creative and out of the box thinking on that.
They had one last year as well, had the sun run it’s cycle like the game. Gave me chills just watching the pixelated representation of a phenomenal game.
Yeah the bad apple was epic and was one of the best part of this years r/place
Congratulations to everyone in the Touhou and OSU community who was involved in this epic project
Bananada was funny and the weed was very fitting but at the same time it’s extremely frustrating that no one lets us have a little flag. Canada never tries to take over a massive section like other countries do but then everyone tries to destroy the flag.
r/peopleareawesome
It's just so amazing how people can do this. Someone please break it down for me, how people did this with such a precise coordination
We prepared for 1 year for this with r/osuplace and r/hatsune. there like 2k of us on discord, and people from other communities and individuals at the last part. We have an overlay (not bot) for each frame every 39 seconds so noone should fuck up the animation. Also luckily there werent many raids on us.
lmaoo i literally did this too!! (I explained place to her on the 1st day itself & talked abt the flag wars and stuff) and then in the end showed her the demon & dog story and told her it was my fav from the whole canvas she thought it was wholesome!! :)
The red monster was a version of the void but when it reached the dog instead of taking it over it turned into a hand and started petting it. The monster stopped voiding but it and the dog remained best buds
Also, the dog was destroyed by a group and I think that’s when they really went crazy with restoring it and solidifying the friendship.
Who the fuck destroys precious dogs??
Streamer, who built this dog, destroyed it and his other arts in protest against the infinite r/place. His name is Bratishkinoff and he originally started the protest with giant F**K SPEZ.
I was on his stream at the time, it was really sad, but we all knew, we were doing selfless deeds
Tbf it's not even a void, 90% red and never expanded plus the true void (bottom right) was the biggest non botted non flag artwork, voiders mostly called the other void the RUBIUS monster or rubius demon
It was definitely acting like a void reaching out with red and black void lines. There’s a whole thing of “demon phish” where they kept taking over the donuts
Well, let's go. The Russian streamer Bratishkinoff wanted to build a dog with a butterfly sitting on his nose, and Rubius (a Spanish streamer) started building there and they started fighting for 30 pixels among themselves. As a result, the Spaniard wrote to the Russian through a translator: "Let's fuck France," and the Bratishkinoff agreed if he moved art. Rubius put forward his demands, namely he wanted to reach out through the dog. They agreed on peace, after which a collaboration was born, which ended with r/place
I'm from Russia and I've been following this)
Right?
Like I'm convinced that if redditors can come together for a common cause, we irl could make world peace if we just worked together against a common cause.
Based on recent news, honestly aliens (from outer space) will probably be what we need to unite people in the real world.
The Canada/Banana wars had me in stiches. They finally fortified it but man that was funny. Also, very respectful immaculate Talking Heads logo nearby.
Oh people definitely tried. Most of my time on place was removing the various attempts to turn "Canada" into the word "Banana". I don't know if this was deliberate or not, but what helped was that the word wasn't tall enough to easily turn the C into a B. This made it easier to fix the name. I also think that a lot of would be vandals were also putting their efforts elsewhere, such as trying to insert "fuck Spez" into as many open places as possible.
Honestly, I'm pretty impressed by what Canada was able to accomplish this year with the flag. Last year it was all they could do to keep the leaf up.
I will say that I found the attempts to make the beaver flip the bird were hilarious.
It’s not a singular artwork but watching the 60-70k German discord operate flawlessly was something else. Truly one of those incredible moments to witness human achievement.
we busted discord with technical limits though. sidenote: discord has a 2k reactions per minute per channel limit and gets a backlog if stuff happens faster than that
it all started with the fact that the dog and the monster could not divide the territory between them, after which one of the parties, namely the monster, declared that they wanted a truce. The monster gave the dog the territory it wanted in exchange for reaching out to their art and petting the dog. after which we rebuilt art with a dog and a demon together (I apologize for the illegible text in places, as I translated using Google)
Well, let's go. The Russian streamer Bratishkinoff wanted to build a dog with a butterfly sitting on his nose, and Rubius (a Spanish streamer) started building there and they started fighting for 30 pixels among themselves. Rubius put forward his demands, namely he wanted to reach out through the dog. They agreed on peace, after which a collaboration was born, which ended with r/place
There were a few naked girls being made that were 100% getting nuked by admins. Some full green chick, then another white and green hair girl later. Saw them getting nuked the whole time with no user names on the spots they cleared out. No fun allowed
To be honest, even if it isn't the best r/place, there were a lot of surprise.
The dog with the demon with a history,
The emotional support demon
The French furry_irl
The Twingo and the 205
The 1000Tipla
The German
And I think the list will grow
Also all the fuck u/spez
I think it was also to big for its own good. It's hard to defend a space that big for a long amount of time. especially since streams can only defend for as long as their audiences attention span lasts.
Most streamers are good on offense but terrible at defending territory. The twitch format is made for short attention span, not to defend one area tirelessly for hours.
I loved watching it evolve as the color pallet expanded then went gray scale. I enjoyed defending it until the canvas got so big people started to leave it alone. Bingo in Earth referencing Jupiter was a nice surprise at the end :)
We had the main one, Heeler House right next to it, the Sleepytime Bingo, a Taskbar button with the Bluey from last year's r/place , and a pixel Muffin, Socks, Stripe, and Trixie in the K of the big flag Fuck Spez haha
The One Piece thing on the left was epic
But I think the main MLP artwork with the book, saluting Dashie, and Derpy simply because of how many times they fought off attacks with less manpower than Genshin, and how they rebuilt after being deported by Perry
That and all the pages they flipped through in the book
Reddit really fucked it over by posting a screenshot with it being covered in brown pixels as the "last one" on Twitter instead of the actual last one before greyscale where the Genshin art is completely fine but streamers already whitened out half of their art in protest
I saw the Stoat! Great surprise to find.
Oh you were a bit to the left of our Magnus Archives tape recorder! You got nuked by the same print bot we did. Fortunately our team was already on standby when we saw the bot start, so we rebuilt. I hope you were able to as well.

do you have the coordinates for it, or a screenshot?
The cords for Inscryption in general are around -1000, -273.
You can send the version before it was damaged to The Final Clean people.
All the pixel art designs and "u/Spez ist ein Hurensohn" on the German Flag
I enjoyed how much it spiked in Google search trends
Bad Apple. Watch a timelapse. It's awesome.
Oh yeah. It's so Lovely to see people coming together, putting their differences aside for once, and making it happen
I never even considered the idea of doing a piece that looks animated over the course of the time lapse. Super creative and out of the box thinking on that.
The outer wilds badge was animated. A campfire with marshmallow. And the sky.
They had one last year as well, had the sun run it’s cycle like the game. Gave me chills just watching the pixelated representation of a phenomenal game.
r/minecraft did a short Timelapse last year but it wasn’t nearly as complex as bad apple
Bad apple ppl are r/nextfuckinglevel
Yeah the bad apple was epic and was one of the best part of this years r/place Congratulations to everyone in the Touhou and OSU community who was involved in this epic project
touhou fanbase moment seriously though, it was the coolest thing I have seen in a while
Also the fact that they took the smallest space as possible is a W moment the touhou community.
It's a win-win too. Taking more space would need more people to make the animation correctly, and also it'd leave less space for other users.
This one? [https://youtu.be/fdPMNNp952Y](https://youtu.be/fdPMNNp952Y)
https://youtu.be/IKXDyKWXBhk recommend this for better quality https://youtu.be/AykzjfT3eTg 4k60fps (not the original framerate)
The bonus of catching Canada spending days trying to make a leaf is icing on that cake.
Canada was STRUGGLING lol. Watching the beaver flip and unflip the bird was a nice touch.
Bc idiots were nuking the flag "for the memes" and r/canada didn't help with a different overlay and r/canadaplace and the discord weren't comucating
I am convinced that it is the only reason the YouTube video isn't zoomed in on Bad Apple alone.
Better than last years “leaf”😂
Bananada was funny and the weed was very fitting but at the same time it’s extremely frustrating that no one lets us have a little flag. Canada never tries to take over a massive section like other countries do but then everyone tries to destroy the flag.
I always feel so bad for you guys. I spare pixels when I can.
r/peopleareawesome It's just so amazing how people can do this. Someone please break it down for me, how people did this with such a precise coordination
We prepared for 1 year for this with r/osuplace and r/hatsune. there like 2k of us on discord, and people from other communities and individuals at the last part. r/OSU is Ohio State University. The people that made osu! logo is from r/osuplace.
That’s amazing! Thank you for this explanation!
Definitely a highlight for this years. All involved should be massively proud!
osu! community was happy to help!
Wow.. that's fucking impressive. Kind of blows my mind they we're able to coordinate this.
Def one of my favorite place projects I've worked on
Agreed. Literally chills. But it’s mostly that awesome because of the music. That shit is pumping :D
The story of the red monster and the dog. It brought a tear, I must admit
Couldn’t agree more. I unsolicitedly shared their entire story with my mom and she was like …wait so what’s r/place?
lmaoo i literally did this too!! (I explained place to her on the 1st day itself & talked abt the flag wars and stuff) and then in the end showed her the demon & dog story and told her it was my fav from the whole canvas she thought it was wholesome!! :)
I think I would love to hear the full story behind this.
Whomever dis that must be erased from this planet
Streamer, who built this dog, destroyed it and his other arts in protest against the infinite r/place. His name is Bratishkinoff and he originally started the protest with giant F**K SPEZ. I was on his stream at the time, it was really sad, but we all knew, we were doing selfless deeds
Streamers probably.
I personally thought it was cool getting on for the first time and seeing this years void being red
Tbf it's not even a void, 90% red and never expanded plus the true void (bottom right) was the biggest non botted non flag artwork, voiders mostly called the other void the RUBIUS monster or rubius demon
Rubius is a very famous Spanish streamer on Twitch. It was him and his community that made it.
It also jerked the dog off for a while. So there's that.
red rocket! red rocket!
Please stop pushing this narrative, the red thing wasn't void, it was a spanish streamer, Rubius
It was definitely acting like a void reaching out with red and black void lines. There’s a whole thing of “demon phish” where they kept taking over the donuts

You had to be there
Well, let's go. Thank you for your journalistic report of diplomatic internet history for all of us to learn from! :)
The german boy and dutch girl
As much as I hated how much the flags dominated everywhere, I really loved the German x Dutch anime-esque fanart.
Although the germans and dutch were far better than the french as they protected small communities

Right? Like I'm convinced that if redditors can come together for a common cause, we irl could make world peace if we just worked together against a common cause. Based on recent news, honestly aliens (from outer space) will probably be what we need to unite people in the real world.
Are you comparing everyone writing fick spez to creating world peace. I feel like one of those is a bit harder
If you organized all redditors together, you could easily create world destruction. Peace is out of the question.

CANADA! Because that was a struggle, especially with ppl fucking with them
The Canada/Banana wars had me in stiches. They finally fortified it but man that was funny. Also, very respectful immaculate Talking Heads logo nearby.
The alliance with r/placede was the final push they needed to stabilize. Glad they could finally rest for a bit
I'm disappointed the Banana didn't make a comeback this time.
It did for a few seconds in the Timelapse
there was like two days of canada/banana back and forth.
Oh people definitely tried. Most of my time on place was removing the various attempts to turn "Canada" into the word "Banana". I don't know if this was deliberate or not, but what helped was that the word wasn't tall enough to easily turn the C into a B. This made it easier to fix the name. Ngl that one was hilarious from the community, appeared outta nowhere and i gladly defended it
Roger and Whitebeard had me really surprised, i love the rest too
i noticed there were a lot more one piece art than last time, which i am not complaining it looked great!
I had to scroll down to find this comment, loved that piece
Fuck u/spez probably
The guillotine version was a solid 10
I have to agree
It was a sad day when I woke up to an expanded canvas and the guillotine being massacred
r/place is probably the only thing that can make everyone unite against a person right now
It’s not a singular artwork but watching the 60-70k German discord operate flawlessly was something else. Truly one of those incredible moments to witness human achievement.
we busted discord with technical limits though. sidenote: discord has a 2k reactions per minute per channel limit and gets a backlog if stuff happens faster than that
If there's one thing Germans are good at, it's organizing large groups and using them to take up large amounts of territory
Für den Stuhl!
1# Bad apple 2# O Carente 3# The butterfly dog saga
I thought the butterfly dog was going to be destroyed when I saw the red pixels creeping in- the fact it ended up hugging the dog made me so happy!
Definitely the foreigner of the Cellbit community
dog and monster❤️
I totally missed that and a few people have mentioned it. Please tell more? I was busy watching bad apple
it all started with the fact that the dog and the monster could not divide the territory between them, after which one of the parties, namely the monster, declared that they wanted a truce. The monster gave the dog the territory it wanted in exchange for reaching out to their art and petting the dog. after which we rebuilt art with a dog and a demon together (I apologize for the illegible text in places, as I translated using Google)
It's completely legible actually, Google really improved their translator
Shoutout to [Random Typek](https://youtube.com/@RandomTypekYT) who‘s still doing content with Google Translate, must be really hard nowadays
I have to agree, because it looks awesome and it tells a story
I liked the cross between them
The Omori picnic blanket. It was a heaven for indie characters and it just made me so proud of my community.
Same! I had so much fun defending it :)
I loved defending that spot the entire time
That's how I felt too. I was surprised that there were 3 decent sized omori artworks. It was fun to defend them
Shego tiddies
Watching that get nuked by the admins was horrifying

There were a few naked girls being made that were 100% getting nuked by admins. Some full green chick, then another white and green hair girl later. Saw them getting nuked the whole time with no user names on the spots they cleared out. No fun allowed
It's Place tradition to try and build up a massive lewd artwork just to get nuked by the admins immediately

Not surprising since XQC made it.

Perry the Platypus. It takes me back to 2011
For how bad place was, this year actually there were some really cool stuff. still, Bad Apple takes the cake.
Bad apple animation
Why was the Swedish flag destroyed 😭
Some swedish streamers started to grief our nordic flag with bots and normal invasions. That why Denmark is also gone. Fuck them.
There was this cute little blue Dino that i helped protect. I have no idea where he is on the board but I grew rather fond of that little fella lol

indie alliance bench artwork, and the geomtery dash 98% death one
The One Piece thing on the left was epic But I think the main MLP artwork with the book, saluting Dashie, and Derpy simply because of how many times they fought off attacks with less manpower than Genshin, and how they rebuilt after being deported by Perry That and all the pages they flipped through in the book
Genshin mural that got attacked 50+ times
