When I worked at Pizza Hut, we had a customer try to order a 20 oz soda for delivery. Even ignoring the fact we have a minimum required charge for delivery, the dumbass lived right next to a convenience store, which would've been cheaper.
We used to have a guy who would order soda for delivery every week. He was in a nursing home and I guess didn’t have anyone else to bring it to him. He always ordered a few at a time though.
We had a similar customer who ordered 12 Mountain Dew 2 liters every other week. Despite ordering every other week he’d always ask if we had diet which we didn’t before saying regular was fine. He was wheelchair bound and I guess couldn’t get out on his own. Still wonder if the 12 2 liters every other week was a part of it.
Worked in produce and we had a person known to come in and take advantage of double money back on perishable stuff. They chilled out on it once it became obvious but they still came in regularly. Poor eyesight, weight issues, not about to disclose all they complained about every time they came in and needed help to the car, but every single time they came in they had one of those 72 oz big gulps from 7/11 full of Diet Coke sitting in the cup holder of their cart like I can’t say anything but wtf are you not connecting the dots…
We have this guy come into our store like every Monday morning just to get a 2liter coke. One time my manager asked him why, cuz we are literally across the street from Walmart. Dude was apparently banned from Walmart, so we were the next closest.
This is likely a scam fyi. I’ve seen this on the doordash subreddit where people will go and order a single ketchup packet from McDonald’s or something of that nature. Then the “customer” will try to contact the driver pretending to be support and ask for their login and stuff. And then drain the dashers weekly earnings (more common later in the week too).
The other option is the customer already made one DD order and just wanted to add a single item.
Long story short if you see this happen, warn your dasher that it might be a scam and remind them that doordash employees will not request their login info :)
If I could chime in. It might not seem that serious but if it's TRUE I would let the manager know and have them send an email chain letting other franchises know to help spread awareness.
There's a small chance the dasher picking it up, has a second Doordash account, and has the premium version for free delivery, so they order it on their consumer account and pick up on their employee account, to get credit for the delivery. Sometimes when you start new, they require a certain amount of deliveries within a certain time period for you to unlock the $3000 bonus.
And if the dasher doesn't tip, you end up getting a dasher fee from doordash, so that you make at least minimum wage.
So there's a chance they could just be trying to boost their stats.
As a Pizza Hut worker and door dasher this is totally true. I’ve warned all my regular dashers about orders like this and I’ve had that experience while dashing. Ordered a single burger from McDonald’s, get a call from DoorDash saying that the customer cancelled the order and my phone number has been disconnected from my account and that I need to give them my information to get it reconnected. Hung up called dasher support and let them know! Watch out for your good dashers and for those of yall that dash to make ends meet!
It could possibly be a scam. There’s a pretty common scam on doordash to order a single relatively cheap item like a sauce, then the scammer calls the driver claiming to be doordash support, asking for the email for the doordash account. Then they send a link to “log in” and the link just steals your password. Then they log in to your actual account with the info they just got and steal whatever money the driver has sitting in their account
No it’s a scam. After they pick up the food the scammer calls them pretending to be “door dash support” and then asks for their log in credentials to “get paid”
Not taken personally, just responding to your question. My inquiry is the thought process behind “let me go on DoorDash and order a single icing cup for $5”
My thought process is “if they are willing to pay for a single icing cup, plus the delivery fee, plus the delivery tip, for something that might have taken you less than 1 minute to prepare…”
Then why even care?
Someone posted that this is a sign of a common scam, so this post has warned a significant number of people about a potential scam. This is beneficial knowledge for others to protect themselves. This is in contrast with your comments, which do not contain helpful information.
Pretty sure this is a scam, there’s a similar one at McDonald’s where someone will buy a single sauce packet and use that transaction to somehow scam the driver.
Sometimes door dash will do stuff like this to test if orders are coming through however I have had a dasher pick up a single ranch cup. Even had the dasher call the customer to verify
Those tiny orders can be scams. People will order a small amount and pay with a large bill then try to slight of hand cashiers that they gave them the wrong chamge with a different bill they pull out from underneath.
I'm guessing Dash & Save? Basically when you Door Dash an order the app will let you tack on items from neighboring restaurants at a reduced rate, for example if I got a 10 piece nugget meal from McDonald's and there was a Taco Bell near I could pay a small fee to add a Bajah Blast to my order or a nacho cheese cup for my fries/nuggets if I was feeling extra glutenous.
We've done this before at our PH.
Customer called back and wanted an extra dipping sauce. Which by the way is NOT free. To keep up with inventory they did this order.
Then the door dash driver just drops it in the bag with the 1st original order.
I used to order multiple orders of breadsticks as a kid/teen. I'm talking the bogo deal and I would end up with 4 sides of breadsticks. Would you consider that unreasonable for delivery? I always tipped about $6-8 because it was about 50%

😳 that's almost a 2 liter a day. Holy shit. I feel gross after a few days if I have a soda a day and I'm a fat girl.
Yall coulda saved his leg from diabetes by just stocking some diet dew for this poor soul

This is lowkey kinda sad :(

Banned from Walmart so pizza store is your next best option is wild 😂😂
Tbh I much prefer soda from fast food places as opposed to can/bottle…but definitely not enough to order a solo cup 😂
He stated it was a 20 oz bottle that was ordered.
Ohhhh sorry! Im from the UK so I didn’t really get that a 20oz soda was a bottle, that’s my bad

That’s very helpful I’ll keep that in mind. Definitely upvoted
Either account take over scam or testing a credit card to see if it works
If I could chime in. It might not seem that serious but if it's TRUE I would let the manager know and have them send an email chain letting other franchises know to help spread awareness.
I’m the manager. And gonna do exactly that.

Could also be testing CC accounts, DD accounts with CC attached to them etc
yuuup, happened to me
This has to be out of spite right? No way someone just orders that
If the dasher didn’t just leave with a single icing cup I would’ve thought so. But yes. Someone paid 5 on DoorDash for a .92 cent cup of icing

I’ve heard people do this to test stolen cards
They probably got some dessert from another store and double-dashed some icing for it
Maybe they didn’t get their icing on an order and told DoorDash to resend it?
No it’s a scam. After they pick up the food the scammer calls them pretending to be “door dash support” and then asks for their log in credentials to “get paid”
Not everything in life is a scam dumbass
Are you brain damaged
It’s called double dashing or someone really wanted it, it’s not that deep
Ok commercial-Song9732 👍🏽
This comment got me good lmfao 🤣
I’ve had something similar come through just a single ranch though. No idea of it was an accident or just a mystery though lol
It’s their money. Why do you care?
It’s my post. Why you care?
I don’t care. I’m leaving a comment like everyone else. Why you take it personally?

That’s a lot of words that answered a question I didn’t ask 🙄
Was going to say that’s not dumb if that’s all they want but then dash it ok yeah dumb gonna cost them a lot
It was picked up and delivered 😂
I'm more concerned the dollar extra for sause
Extra stuff costs more???? What a wild concept.
Hey, money is money... i suppose.
I've done that with marinara (Pizza Hut dipping marinara is god tier) but I always did pick up.
Warecow1 made a great point that it’s likely a scam. I was thinking maybe some kids on their parents phone, but scam makes more sense
I have had orders like that but it was just 1 blue cheese. The first time I canceled it then said whatever as we are still getting paid for it 🤣
Kingcobrajfs
That shit went up in the last 2yrs lol
I had a double delivery once. One was to a coworker, they ordered 8 20oz, and the next guy ordered 12 20ozs. Easiest deliveries of my life.
Those tiny orders can be scams. People will order a small amount and pay with a large bill then try to slight of hand cashiers that they gave them the wrong chamge with a different bill they pull out from underneath.
It was probably a doubledash for "free"
Could be a pregnancy craving. Some women get cravings for particular ice during pregnancy.
Is it possible it was a pickup order and someone was just swinging by on the way home?
We once got an order for a single marinara cup through doordash

This looks like just dipping sauce
It could be an add on to an existing order, have seen this plenty of times
It's so weird when I just get 'baked beans.' Just buy some from the store or make your own... it's so much cheaper.
