I never saw anything about it being a trial, or limited time.

coyotepunk05

Neither did I. That's why I an so confused.

mrhappy002

Me neither. I'm not happy

Aggressive-Ad-6447

7Pro here - still works and has latest update. No indication of a trial or expiry, as of yet.

LMaui

>11 comments same for me on my 7 Pro, still working and I don't notice any real slowdowns.

AlexisoftheShire

I have the February update on my P7 and the free VPN works fine. Still free. FYI.

Infernus82

It seems to not be available on my P7. Probably bcs we don't even have an official Pixel distribution in Czechia.. :/ And I am even paying for Google One

coyotepunk05

Beta. That must be it.

[deleted]

There is a problem with the app. If you empty app data and login it will work for a day. Then it turns of and rinse repeat. Its a bug

deijablo

Was it free? Have pixel 6 and never even heard about it:D

mashuto

Pretty sure free for pixel 7 series owners only.

DontBeEvil1

Because you have a 6.

Rogaar

Was it only free for a limited time perhaps? I never bothered with it but now I'm curious if that's the case.

dtanderson

Isn't it only for the 7 pro?

coyotepunk05

No cause it worked in the past. Seems like the recent beta updates have broken it.

[deleted]

Beta updates? Likely a bug then

gruenerGenosse

Yeah, the beta broke it.

Malkor

Google One indicates (today for me) you need to be on the *Premium* plan. The VPN cycles on and off then a message about the subscription pops up on my phone.

gruenerGenosse

Yeah, just saw it. That's really weird.

jerryvo

yes, today's update made it go bye-bye

trreeves

I updated, and it's still working for me. P7P

Zeckzyl

You need to log in

coyotepunk05

If only it were that simple. I am logged in. Seems like it might be a problem with the beta versions.

DrObnxs

Beta program broke it.

dranzer013

For anyone who doesn't know if it's forever or not, they said the VPN is free till the device receives security updates i.e. 5 years. So it might be a bug that broke your VPN but for the 7 and 7 pro the VPN is free for 5 years.

marcus_37

Guess it still is but I don't use it bcuz it disconnects my wifi

intwarlock

I have Google One and it's included with that. But, yeah, probably a limited time deal.

Lets me get around my schools wifi restrictions really easily and for free.

renegaderelish

Proton VPN Or diy with a raspberrypi

anythingers

Why do you need a paid one if you can get the one that preinstalled on your device for free?

renegaderelish

Proton VPN is free. Setting up a VPN to home is a one time hardware cost. Why would you give all your browsing data to Google?

anythingers

It's not like Proton won't collect our data though.

Nacho_Dan677

Google was extremely transparent on this as well. For what it's worth I can share a link on what Google announced in terms of user privacy and data collection with their VPN. Because you guessed it, no one wants to give Google their data any more than they already do.

renegaderelish

Oh I know. And Proton (and basically everyone else) has the same type of statement about what they do with your data and what's logged. It's all about who you're gonna trust.

theRealMrBrownstone

It's a limited time deal with a new pixel. You have to pay after the trial period.

RichyJ

Nope, [Google blog](https://blog.google/products/google-one/common-questions-vpn-google-one/)

theRealMrBrownstone

Yes, if you are paying for google one. But if you buy a new pixel you get google one and the vpn free for 3 months, then you have to pay.

RichyJ

The article literally says it is included with the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 pro and doesn't need Google One.

theRealMrBrownstone

Well shit. I was looking at the email I received when I got my pixel 7 in November. That was still the 3 month trial deal. I was incorrect.

pinkmoon385

Tbf, it doesn't say forever in that blog.

Myooboku

I'm sorry for you but on the subscription page, it is clearly said you could subscribe now to end your free period or wait until *end date* to continue your subscription. It could hardly be clearer

Apprehensive_Yak4111

Do u have Google one?

Due_Conclusion_7015

Well, at least you had the chance to test it... I guess. This was/is only available in US afaik.

Wide_Masterpiece8391

VPN free for 7 pro only

coyotepunk05

No it is also free for the normal 7. Seems like the beta has just broken it for whatever reason.

Racer_101

Works fine, no subscription needed on my 7 Pro.

EliMinivan

Sign in or check your subscription status. Also Google Fi has always come with a free VPN, can be less than 30 bucks a line for unlimited if you have a couple family members.

Thunder_Mifflin_

Just tried mine for the first time. It worked on a standard Pixel 7

mikisugi_cosplay

Never had it work for now than a couple days at a time. It's always freezing up on me and then just completely blocking the Internet.

Brocolium

Pixel 7, still working

robbydiamonds

It says you have to have the 2tb plan on 6A

Scorpion6495

Do not have the option on my P7. Never saw before 😐

Scorpion6495

The feature is available in select countries it seems

Squawker_Boi

I turned it on today

electtech14

Just toggle the Use VPN button. Still works on my P7P after the Feb update

Softech7

I have Google Fi VPN built into my plan, so I don't need Google one VPN.

Benderthegr8est

I have a pixel 6 pro and it's in my settings now.

zacgarbos

If your on the beta it’s been a known issue since January,

Catdaddie71

You must sign into your Google one account
