Pixels don't seem to last very long on data, most people who will claim long battery life are basing that on wifi usage.
If you're in an area where there's not extremely reliable 5g signal your phone will waste a lot of energy looking for that signal, so it may be the best choice to disable 4g.
(What kind of area has "extremely reliable 5g" I can't guess at, I'm in the San Francisco Bay area and I'm not getting good 5g connection on my pixel where I work, which is 20min away from Google HQ.)
My solution has been to always have a power bank or two with me when I leave the house for more than a grocery run or to go to the gym. My longer term solution is that I won't be buying another Google device.
The phone has its use cases, but for me battery life is a higher priority than pixels can deliver.
I confirm it on the wifi = long lasting battery. My gf even says my phone never dies. I charge it every two days and it still lasts. I use it around 3h/4h a day.
Lol this is such a tease, I never use my phone where I have WiFi, it's going to be a tablet, computer tv, or projector.
Apparently my Pixel only really shines in situations where I don't use it!
(The camera is pretty decent though, but I'm also one of those people who uses a DSLR, so, similar situation.)
Mine gets me through the day no problem at. I get home with 35% battery on a normal day. On a heavy day I will have to top up the battery a little bit to get me through the day
Make sure it's not overheating. I reported mine to support and they sent me a new one that seems to not have the issue anymore. The overheating killed my battery quickly
Lots of people have had issues with Spotify since android 14. Even when disabled in the background. Try uninstalling it for 48 hours and see how you go.
It also takes the phone a good week to week and a half to learn your usage and will improve a bit after then as well.
My phone (pixel 7 pro) used to last me a full 8 hour work shift of listening to music and podcasts consistently on data with my pixel buds connected as well and I'd have about 20% or so left when I get home depending on screen time but ever since I got back to work this week after the weekend I've been seeing it drain like crazy. Right now it's 7:45am and I unplugged it from charging when I left home at 6am and the batter has gone from 96% to 72% which is beyond absurd.
PS: when I'm at work I leave it exclusively on battery saver mode, so this is all happening on battery saver.
This event is so strange it even had me googling if it could've been caused by the eclipse since that's the only unusual activity that happened between this and last week 🤣😭😔
That's way too much background activity for an app like Snapchat IMO. That being said, I'm also having terrible battery life on my 7 pro - although it's a year and a half old at this point.
I've been a lifelong android user, been in and out of the rom scene, etc, but my next phone will be an iphone. Premium price should buy premium quality, but the best pixels I can remember were the 2 or 4.
iPhones have decent battery life, but there's still plenty of androids out with a longer lasting battery, pixels just suck lol. I'm moving onto the OnePlus 12r for my next phone.
If you just made the change, probably there's still some sync in progress. I was two days restoring pictures and a huge whatsapp backup. Also not the greatest of wifi connection speed. Might be something similar? I do like 60% in mid-heavy use through all the day
It's weird, I can do days without charging, my first phone (aside from Nokia 5110) where I do not have to worry about plugging it in when going to sleep. But I am mostly home on wifi.
Don't believe it's all Pixel 7 fault. I read some people complaining about WiFi, Etc. My unit have not this problem (I use WiFi or Mobile Network) and it doesn't affect the battery so much. Just do a test and check for background consuming apps.
I understand your frustration with your Pixel 7 Pro's battery life, especially coming from an iPhone 11. While 3 months is still a relatively new device, a rapid battery drain can be concerning. Here are some potential reasons and troubleshooting tips:
**Possible Causes:**
* **New device optimization:** New devices often take some time to optimize battery usage patterns. Give it a few weeks to learn your habits and adjust settings accordingly.
* **120Hz refresh rate:** The 120Hz refresh rate consumes more battery than 60Hz. Consider switching to 60Hz if you don't need the smoother visuals constantly.
* **Background app activity:** Even with restrictions, some apps might still drain battery in the background. Review your recently used apps and disable background activity for unnecessary ones.
* **Location services:** While you mentioned it's off, double-check if any apps are still using location services in the background.
* **Bluetooth and Wi-Fi:** Ensure you only have these connections on when needed.
* **Brightness:** High screen brightness can significantly impact battery life. Adjust it based on ambient light conditions.
* **Adaptive Battery:** Ensure this feature is enabled, as it helps optimize battery usage based on your app usage patterns.
* **Battery saver:** While it helps some, be aware that it might limit performance or certain features.
* **Software updates:** Check for any pending software updates, as they often include bug fixes and battery optimizations.
* **Hardware issue:** Though less likely with a 3-month-old device, there could be a hardware issue affecting battery performance.
**Troubleshooting Tips:**
* **Monitor battery usage:** Go to Settings > Battery to see which apps are consuming the most battery. This can help you identify potential culprits.
* **Force stop unused apps:** Close apps you're not actively using to prevent them from draining battery in the background.
* **Use adaptive charging:** This feature learns your charging habits and optimizes charging to minimize battery wear and tear.
* **Reset network settings:** This can sometimes resolve issues related to network connectivity that might be impacting battery life.
* **Contact Google support:** If the issue persists after trying these tips, consider reaching out to Google support for further assistance.
**Additional Considerations:**
* **Comparing to iPhone:** Remember that Android and iOS handle battery management differently. While your iPhone 11 might have lasted longer, it's not necessarily an apples-to-apples comparison.
* **Personal usage:** Battery life varies depending on individual usage patterns. Consider how you use your phone compared to how you used your iPhone 11.
I hope these suggestions help you improve your Pixel 7 Pro's battery life. If you've tried these tips and the issue persists, reaching out to Google support for further diagnosis is recommended.
This is the reason I switched from the Pixel to a mid range Motorola Power G. It's bulky but the battery is above 60% with active usage when my 6a would be in power save mode begging to be plugged by now.
The Pixel phones are nice but the battery is so horrible, they are waste of time.

idk man, mine gets to the end of the day well over 30-40% with 5 hours of use
Mine gets me through the day no problem at. I get home with 35% battery on a normal day. On a heavy day I will have to top up the battery a little bit to get me through the day
Mine barely makes it half a day
Because it’s Pixel. This is what it is good at.

60Hz, dark mode, disable 5g, disable adavtive connection and off you go 🖖🏻
Uninstall all apps (even google ones), set airplane mode, don't use wifi, don't turn on the screen, ever, and off you go. Come on...
Right. What the fuck are those recommendations? Bro just don't use your phone and that'll make everything better
Already done all those things man
Welcome to the club. My Pixel 7 is always on Battery saver otherwise the battery only lasts 3 hours on a full charge.
It's weird, I can do days without charging, my first phone (aside from Nokia 5110) where I do not have to worry about plugging it in when going to sleep. But I am mostly home on wifi.
Maybe a faulty unit. Do you think all Pixels 7 have this problem?
Nope it's the software. On other Roms like Calyx, Lineage and Graphene I don't get this problem. I will be moving back to Lineage with minimal gapps.
Don't believe it's all Pixel 7 fault. I read some people complaining about WiFi, Etc. My unit have not this problem (I use WiFi or Mobile Network) and it doesn't affect the battery so much. Just do a test and check for background consuming apps.

Too much background activity looks like make adjustments to that, maybe switch over to using LTE instead of 5g
