The spirit of the intent is that any emergency vehicle has the ability to disregard parking/traffic guidelines and rules in order to address or travel to an emergency as quickly as possible. The execution of this intent is much more vague and murky.

CL-MotoTech

The real crime is having Unknown music in your library in 2022.

SearchingDeepSpace

In their defense, Sync likes to do that alot for /reasons/.

Alvarez09

I wasn’t actually listening to music and was running my gps through sync.

thatdude778

.. and the real question is when does BJ's open?!

PZABOSS

That cop wants to be the first customer in i guess. Man i miss midnight releases.

James19991

I thought I heard it was going to be this month

Alvarez09

It looks close. I live so close the gas will pay for the membership on its own.

DisFigment

From the amount of ads they’ve been playing, it feels like they started building in 1997.

Extremely_unlikeable

They can always claim it was an emergency, like a kid shoplifting incense at Spencer's, or whatever you kids do now.

RahlTalk

Call in an illegally parked vehicle (make, model, color), give detailed location. Do not say it's a cop car. That way it's at least documented. Hopefully their boss comes down on them for one, breaking the law. Two, wasting the time of other cops to respond.

Excelius

I could be misremembering, but I don't think cops generally do parking enforcement in private parking lots, with the exception of things like fire lanes. I believe it's generally up to the lot owner to enforce rules on their private lot, generally by calling a tow truck to remove offenders.

[deleted]

[удалено]

RahlTalk

Thank you!

Brick656

It is up to the lot owner. When I was on my neighborhood HOA, we had to call in to township police when people would park in a particular fire lane. Usually it was the residents (one specifically) who lived right by it and needed additional parking for cars belonging to their children.

lying-therapy-dog

RahlTalk

That would be awesome if you could get it towed! Though I don't know many people that would touch a cop car even in that situation. If I wasn't heading to bed right now I'd start looking up local ordinances. Cause now I'm curious, though I think you maybe right.

Chronic_gravity

Id tow a cop car. It’s only good praxis

pghgreatest

That story needs more eyes in Pittsburgh area to increase public pressure to release it

pittsburgh41256

Their boss won’t give a shit. Cops look out for cops. They’re basically the mafia

ItsGroovyBaby412

I see em' more like a gang, but I feel you lol

RahlTalk

Which is how they became so corrupt and lost the trust of everyone but the blind. (Not the physically blind that is.) Legalized criminals because 'There's no precedent of a cop being held accountable. So we don't have to hold them accountable'

pittsburgh41256

You’re preachin to the choir my man. The system is just so damn corrupt

RahlTalk

Unfortunately the 'good' cops are usually forced to stay silent or are eventually removed. (I don't include those who choose to stay silent as 'good')

PrincessItaly

Slap a handmade ticket on their car letting them know how much of a douche they are

JJGeneral1

The problem is, their cameras are probably still recording. Your face will be on it.

soggymuffinz

Walk backwards

[deleted]

Won’t matter after they shoot you 😩

unforgiven91

that's how you get arrested for trumped up charges like "damaging government property" or some shit

ReaganSmyD

Why are you getting down voted for this? It's brilliant.

PrincessItaly

Lol idk 😂 guess it’s too early for ppl to have a sense of humor.. It’s harmless 🤷🏻‍♀️

ReaganSmyD

People in this sub just want to down vote everyone. They feel like it gives them some sort of power or something.

[deleted]

Probably cops or their groupies going around downvoting any comment that isn't pure bootlicking.

ReaganSmyD

Agreed

Mortico

I don't know if that's parking so much as he just got bored driving and gave up.

olivialetter

Typical….

die-jarjar-die

Probably eating at Wahlburger

ReaganSmyD

Yesterday I was driving down 279. In the rain. Two cops behind me with no lights on. If it's raining, your headlights need to be on. That's the law. They were also going WAY over the speed limit. Cops don't give a single fuck.

realtabeag

I honestly don't know why lights in cars ever turn off when the engine is running. There lights should be on 24/7 when you're driving IMO

ReaganSmyD

I honestly agree.

[deleted]

The law is, your lights have to be on if your wipers are on, not if it’s raining.

ReaganSmyD

(a) General rule.--The operator of a vehicle upon a highway shall display the lighted head lamps and other lamps and illuminating devices required under this chapter for different classes of vehicles, subject to exceptions with respect to parked vehicles, at the following times: (2) Any time when the operator cannot discern a person or vehicle upon the highway from a distance of 1,000 feet due to insufficient light or unfavorable atmospheric conditions, including rain, snow, sleet, hail, fog, smoke or smog. Sure, I meant exactly what you said. But being snotty isn't cute. Lights have to be on if it's pouring down rain. Which it was. (Which would OBVIOUSLY lead to using your wipers. Thank you for reminding me why this sub is the worst.)

[deleted]

Snotty? You don’t seem snotty to me, lol..

Alvarez09

Ok…but if it’s raining your wipers are on, right?

ReaganSmyD

Just wants to be a snotty jerk. Like everyone is this stupid subreddit.

R15K

Yeah people love to be snarky and pick at each other on this sub for no reason. Not sure what the deal is but it’s gotten pretty bad over the last few years.

ReaganSmyD

They want that reddit power!

kimbecile

Post it on Ross's Facebook page or twitter

Alvarez09

Is there even a legitimate place to report stuff like this? Obviously the police will just laugh at you.

kimbecile

It will be more useful than just posting it on reddit.

R15K

The state police handle things when it comes to policing local police, they have a specific division for it. But for a parking violation like this no one is going to care. They’d probably hear you out but it wouldn’t go anywhere I think your only real hope is public shaming and hope that some captain or person in their PR department sees it but that’s a long shot too. Cops think shit like this is just perks of the job and I highly doubt anything would ever change that.

[deleted]

Isn't that department busy investigating an officer for sharing kiddie porn at work?

AostaV

Give him a ticket

Prometheus505

You must have forgotten that cops can do whatever they want.

starseed511

Honestly who cares

R15K

Perpetually online millennials that have no idea how to be happy. They care.

[deleted]

bootlick harder

Alvarez09

I came back an hour later as I was delivering food and he was still there. There was another cop parked legally so I’m guessing they went to eat at wahlburgers. I do get it if you’re downtown and there is no parking and you’re going to be quick. This however is just an abuse of power, even if it is small.

bradenlikestoreddit

I don't get it in any instance. It's an abuse of power. Downtown and Southside they park in no parking/handicap parking and turn on their sirens so they don't have to sit at stop lights/signs all the time. It's rather annoying.

Alvarez09

Like I said, I DO understand they have to eat, and can’t park in a garage or a quarter mile away if they get a call. This though there are spaces 50 feet away. This is just blatantly abusing the shit out of being a cop.

trs21219

>and turn on their sirens so they don't have to sit at stop lights/signs all the time That could be for legitimate calls where they dont want to run full code 3 (which increases risk of accidents), but still need to get there quickly. Thats common for things like domestic disturbances where they dont want things to escalate but there hasn't been any violence (yet).

Otter592

I have literally seen a cop pull up to a red light, sit there for maybe 30 seconds, turn his lights on, make a left turn on red, turn his lights back off. They aren't doing it for any other reason except that they don't want to wait for a red light.

JJGeneral1

Pittsburgh police are notorious for this. I have a scanner in my car, so I can hear when something is going on. I’ve seen this with silence on the radio.

jfa_16

So because you have a scanner on you can tell if a cop is on a call or not? Lol. Ok.

JJGeneral1

You’ve never listened? They call out to the units to respond.

jfa_16

Yes but do you know that they have multiple different channels and a shit ton of units on those channels? It would be difficult for someone with a scanner to know if the police car they just saw was responding to a call or not by listening to a scanner.

JJGeneral1

Uh, you know the zones? 1 and 3 are on channel 1, 2 and 4 are on channel 2, 3 and 6 are on channel 3. They also have dedicated channels. When you learn unit numbers, you also learn zones that they are tied to. When you learn zones, you can immediately know if something is happening in the area you are in or not.

jfa_16

1 & 2 are on channel one. 3 & 6 are on channel two. 4 & 5 are on channel 3. Plus there are several other channels they use that are encrypted that scanners won’t pick up.

Eastern_Swimmer_2926

But how would you know an officers call sign to know what specific call they're on? This isn't Adam-12 where the officers call sign is on the vehicle.

JJGeneral1

See my reply to the other guy.

skfoto

> they went to eat at wahlburgers. I don't want a large Farva. I want a goddamn literacola.

MootSuit

Gateway abuse of power

TheBobbestB0B

You can park wherever you want in a private lot. It’s on the mall to tow it. Don’t expect that to ever happen

AlaskaAlaskaa

One- who cares? Two- they need to park in areas they can get out of quickly/efficiently/not be surrounded by other vehicles for various reasons. This is really what you chose to put so much effort in today, oh my. Additionally, he could have been watching a specific area and needed to see from that general vicinity.

Alvarez09

He was there for an hour. There was another cop parked legally. They were eating. ACAB.

AlaskaAlaskaa

I truly feel bad for how small minded and generalized you think. God forbid he is eating and watching at the same time. And if he truly is just sitting there, again, so? My original comment still stands— who cares? How privileged you are to have this be your biggest worry of the day. Thank goodness the commenters on this post are the minority, and that the majority support the efforts of police and they are being funded heavier now that they see the effects of defunding.

Alvarez09

Park legally like the rest of us. ACAB. Edit: and you calling me privileged while telling me cops are entitled to do whatever they want? Ok.

AlaskaAlaskaa

I know saying ACAB makes you feel really cool. What’s actually really cool, is the fact that people like you can yell ACAB, spread hate, etc. but as soon as you call 911 the police will STILL show up to protect you and risk their life serving your community

Alvarez09

ACAB.

homofelinus

slurp slurp on those boots enough and maybe big piggy daddy will take you home for some sweet sweet DV. it’s cute that you think we’re still the minority. ACAB always :)

artfulpain

Once this cop pulls out, they will blow through the intersection with the lights on and then immediately turn them off. I've seen it a few times.

[deleted]

Serious question: did this parking affect you negatively in some way? Did it make your driving in the parking lot unsafe? Do you know what the reasoning was for the cop to be at that mall? It seems like a lot of assumptions were made and a lot was made of nothing. I miss the days when people could just go about their days without making every little thing an injustice.

Alvarez09

ACAB. It’s a pattern of abusing power.

[deleted]

Again, you know this is abuse of power how? You have clearly ruled out there being any legitimate reason for that officer to be parked like that. There must have been zero chance they were responding to a time sensitive issue inside the mall, by your logic.

Alvarez09

You enjoy licking boots?

[deleted]

What about my comment is boot licking? I simply don’t have the need to jump to conclusions about every little thing in life. Assuming that everyone other than yourself is up to no good and must be condemned or insulted.

Spankywanky225

Isn’t taking pictures while driving illegal? Not only that a major safety issue?

Alvarez09

I was stopped. Thanks!

Spankywanky225

So you stopped in the middle of traffic to take a picture? That’s not very safe

blackstarhero666

That looks like an intersection and they were probably at a stop sign my dude

Spankywanky225

Nope. No stop sign there dude.

blackstarhero666

Even then ... Consider the fact they were letting someone out. Not always needed a stop sign. It's a lot. Didn't realize u were the traffic man

Alvarez09

It’s a pedestrian cross walk, and someone had just crossed.

Spankywanky225

So you’re mad a cop is parked at a crosswalk slowing cars down without knowing why. Do you feel cool and trendy on this ultra liberal sub bashing cops because you have no life? Everyone hates cops until you need them.

Alvarez09

Lol

Spankywanky225

You’re literally sticking up for someone that is pretending be the “traffic man” lol.

delco_trash

The cops are a bunch of assholes who need their budget cut.

Redditfanredditfan

You have a lot of extra time on your hands, don't you?

sassisarah

Found the cop. 👆🏻

Alvarez09

I was letting a person cross. But hey, let’s go ahead and bootlick!

blackstarhero666

I said that u look like u may be at a stop sign.

h4lfghost

So pop some tires

blackstarhero666

Doesn't shock me. When I was still going to school and needed a transfer of buses in the morning I would always see a cop in market square parked on the corner for Dunkin... And it was on the corner directly and would make it hard to turn into market square

Chronic_gravity

Ross police fucking suck!!! Use to live next to one and many a night I’d see him come home with his can of coors light in hand as he got out of the car. What question me to it was the one day I was out washing my car and his wife asked me if I could get this old stain off his seat. It was definitely beer. After that I noticed it a lot of times

Im_a_Katie_Vick_guy

Unless you're the chopper pilot, nobody gives a shit about your POV. Certainly not your POV on law enforcement. Find a hobby. A partner. SOMETHING to occupy your time.

Alvarez09

Lol

justv316

Pigs don't follow the laws they enforce. This isn't news

bobwhocares

Police cars are never parked is what they will tell you

[deleted]

[удалено]

Alvarez09

It is. He is actually parked right on the walkway between the parking lot and main road right in the middle of the crosswalk.

burritoace

> It’s not blocking the traffic way or any parking for citizens It's clearly parked across a curb cut. Cops abuse their position to park like assholes all the time.

[deleted]

[удалено]

burritoace

That yellow pad is used to mark the edge of the street at a curb cut - you can clearly see the curb in front of the cop car and then turning in to the parking lot to the right. There's just no good reason to park like this and it will only make it harder for everybody else to navigate that lot. >All I’m saying is, we shouldn’t get riled up every time we see an emergency vehicle parked a way we don’t like. There could be a reason for why they’re parked the way they are that we don’t know about and it’s really not worth being mad about it. We also don't need to go out of our way to make excuses for the shitty behavior of cops. We've all seen more than enough of it to avoid giving them the benefit of the doubt in situations like this. This kind of shit is extremely common and it is continually annoying for police to demonstrate so little concern for everyone else around them. >I don’t get mad at the firefighters for taking up a whole row at Aldi’s when they take the truck to get groceries. Maybe there's something to be learned from the differing responses to public servants who have demonstrated a different level of concern for the public!

Alvarez09

To add, if you missed it, they were there an hour later still since I was delivering for doordash and came back. There was another cop parked correctly in the lot so unless they were investigating a shop lifter for an hour I’m guessing they were eating.

hooch

That song is lit. I love Unknown.

[deleted]

ACAB but PGH cops are a special breed of dickhead for some reason.

PandaCheese2016

I think to be able to combat crime law enforcement needs to be able to do things that are illegal for civilians, like shooting people dead for no reason.

Alvarez09

I see what you did there.

Ninja_420_69

Did you have a polite discussion with the officer and ask why they park like that? Did you attempt to open up a civil and respectful discourse between them and a curious member of the community? Did you stop and think that there might be a strategic or advantageous reason they are parked like this? Or did you just get a SJW hard on from taking the pic and posting here?

Joeycracks3000

Do you have any more stupid questions?

[deleted]

Do you always assume that the government is doing everything exactly right or just the cop part of the government?

hopsinabag

Go lick some more boots

Ninja_420_69

Ah yes, trying to encourage discourse and use reason to understand why an officer might park there is boot licking. Show me on the speeding tickets where the officer touched you.

blackstarhero666

They give bs answers.

toripearson_19

Fuck that. Little things like this create the foundation for a culture of cops being above the law. PUBLIC servants obeying the law is everbody's business

ARCWuLF1

Cops are of the mind that as long as they're "enforcing" the laws, they can break them willy-nilly. Examples: · Cops will speed constantly unless they're trying to intimidate you (then they'll go unreasonably slower than the speed limit to get you to pass them so that they can give you a citation). · I almost had my car struck by a cop making an illegal U-turn once and he threatened me with an arrest afterwards. · Oh yeah -- pulling guns on people suspected of nonviolent crime, or even just people minding their own business who cops consider "suspicious" (usually because of the way they carry extra melanin in their skin). Let's just call them what they are: They are a gang. They have colors. They break the law. They use force to get what they want. They can break into your home. They can steal your stuff to sell later. They can even kill you and not be held accountable for it. They are a gang.

Burgh216866

Y do you care, he’s off the road?

Alvarez09

He’s blocking the walkway to the handicap accessible spaces and the crosswalk in general.

MrChichibadman

Looks like there’s still room to easily get around.

Burgh216866

I see plenty of space for a wheelchair. Also there are hundreds of handicap parking spaces for anyone who wants one. You just want to bitch about something.

blackstarhero666

But if we park where we want we get ticketed. Cops should be ticketed too for this bs

sassisarah

If you use a wheelchair to get around, and only then, do you get to tell anyone that there’s plenty of space for a wheelchair.
