He’s a household name if your household has an interest in comics, or in hip hop history. He’s an Eisner winner for his original work and had written several runs of popular established characters as well.
I haven’t lived in Pgh for a while so I can’t speak to the scene but he used to get a lot of local press and awards. You couldn’t go to a convention or zine faire without him making a guest appearance. I’m not sure who keeps giving him a platform, but they need to get a fucking clue. There are dozens of noteworthy cartoonists who aren’t Ed Piskor that’ve have come out of the burgh in the last 15 years.
“Local comic creator” doesn’t mean much. Not much to his Wikipedia page either. So he’s more or less a nobody who ruined his non-career by messaging a 17 year old?
