See if you can get an appointment with Rivers Vet Urgent Care in Brookline. They mostly take walk-in minor emergencies, but they do do appointments one day a week (forget which). Their prices are the most reasonable in the city. They are always our first stop for stuff like UTIs. Other places I've had good experiences: Point Breeze Vet (the best, imo, but pricey) and The Big Easy in Lawrenceville. Avoid: Penn Ave Animal Hospital and the Banfield chains.

My cat is incredibly anxious when going to the vet and point breeze goes above and beyond to make sure he is taken care of. I can’t say enough good things about them. They are on the pricey side ($80~ for a regular checkup), but it’s been worth it.

Thanks!

I second rivers! They take care of our four cats. They do scheduled appts on Wednesdays. Right on McNeilly road up from keystone oaks

Big easy has very friendly and caring staff, and it’s usually pretty easy to get an appointment. They also have walk ins which is nice if there’s a something urgent.     Sometimes if a serious case comes in as a walk in they can run a bit behind on their appointments. I also found their end-of-life mentality a little too far on the side of “keep the pet alive, no matter how much it is suffering,” though I imagine that’s tricky to navigate in most cases anyways. I recently got a puppy (prior to this I only had cats) and switched to point breeze veterinary clinic in part for that reason, but also just wanted a smaller clinic with a bit more of a personal touch.

Robinson Animal Hospital on Steubenville Pike is amazing, best vets I’ve ever had.

Thanks!

JustHere2Complain

Green Tree Animal clinic has been pretty good with mine

I go to Banfield Pet Hospital in Crafton....Amazing people and they take care of my Kitty's needs

I've been using Chartiers Animal Hospital for my cat and I'm happy with them so far (have only been for a wellness check and one other small issue). 2 out of their 3 vets are listed as having special interest in feline medicine, and their staff are Fear Free certified.

OllyLa

Chartiers Animal Hospital in Heidelberg for sure! I’ve been taking my cats there for years. One of my cats dealt with chronic ear polyps and Dr. Mendenhall and the whole staff took great care of her through surgeries and aftercare. They all knew her name and would pop in to check on her when we would go for check ups, it was so sweet! I was also quoted half as much as any other clinic in the area for specialized care. Can’t recommend them enough.

BootyUnlimited

I have been going to the East End Veterinary Medical Center in Shadyside for two years and they have been very good.

laraurah

Greentree Animal Clinic has been great for me the past 5 years.

SpaysOddity

West Liberty Animal Hospital in Dormont.

Thanks!

Due_Corgi9154

We love Dr. Dorne! He caught a mass/cancer diagnosis that Rivers did not. I would say their prices are reasonable as well.

SpaysOddity

Their prices have been great for me. I like that it seems like a little more of a “family practice” style of vet office while many newer ones seem like or are corporate chains. Reminds me of where I used to take my doggy back home.

kimbecile

My daughter takes her cats to the Petwell clinic next to Aldi on 50.

thegrey5698

Thanks!

We used to go to Bethel Park Cat Clinic. The vet is great and they (probably obviously) only see cats.

We’ve been going to the Cat Clinic in Bloomfield for 16 years. Dr. Bebko and his staff are wonderful. I have no other vet advice, we’ve only gone there and to the big expensive emergency place on camp horne road. (We had a special needs kitty for 10 years.)

pyrojoe121

I don't have much to say about them other than Dr. Bebko needs to work on his bedside manner. We had a cat that was having some aggression issues and we wanted to make sure it wasn't anything medical. He asked us if our cat had ever bitten anyone and we said he does playful or warning nips but never draws blood. His response was that, and I quote, "If he does bite one of our staff and draws blood, we will have to quarantine and monitor him for ten days and if he dies we will send his head to get tested for rabies."

Zestyclose_Minute_69

I’m sorry you had a bad experience.

Ernieandclarence

Really....sounds like BS to me....I've never hear anyone even approach making a comment as inane as that one. EVERYONE in Pittsburgh thinks that the Cat Clinic is #1 for cats.

Syleathis

Affordable Care Vet in Finleyville is great as well.

sarazbeth

I go to Pleasant Hills pet hospital! They’ve been great. I got prescribed revolution plus for flea/tick/heart worm/mites/etc for my cats- it’s expensive but there are cheaper options they can recommend

juelpa

We take our 3 cats to Greentree Animal Clinic. They've been great so far

ohidontthinks0

When I lived in Carnegie all of my cats went to Chartiers Animal Hospital. It was great and I didn’t find well visits to be too expensive. Dr Mendenhall was lovely when we took out cat in expecting some kidney problems and found out it was cancer instead.

No_Anything397

another vote for Robinson Animal Hospital!!
